76ers' Joel Embiid will have foot evaluated by three more doctors
|by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer|
|(6/19/15) 76ers center Joel Embiid will have his right foot evaluated by at least three more doctors before the team determines the best way to handle his latest setback, per Philly.com.
76ers CEO Scott O'Neil said recently that Embiid will continue to be evaluated and that his long-term health is the team's biggest interest.
“We’re still waiting,” O’Neil said. “We have another three doctors to come see him. We’re trying to figure out with a 21-year-old how do you focus wholly on long-term health and wellness and make sure he’s OK. So what we’re doing now is seeing experts, the best experts from around the world, to make sure we make the right decisions with him and his family and do the best.”
Embiid missed his entire rookie season as he recovered from surgery on his right foot.
Report: 76ers Joel Embiid (foot) may not be available next year
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(6/15/15) 76ers center Joel Embiid, who missed the entire 2014-15 season with a stress fracture in his foot, may wind up missing the 2015-16 season as the injury has been slow to heal, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The team announced Saturday that the big man from Kansas had a setback in his recover, and the newspaper quotes a source who says that Embiid may not be available at the start of the campaign and could wind up being out for the entire season.
It remains unclear if Embiid will have to undergo another surgery on his foot, which has taken long past the scheduled five-to-eight months first thought needed after the initial surgery.
"Our priority remains providing Joel with every opportunity to ensure he has a long and successful NBA career," 76ers GM Sam Hinkie said.
76ers C Joel Embiid (foot) not healing much following surgery

|(6/13/15) 76ers center Joel Embiid has suffered a setback in his recovery from surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. Embiid missed the entire 2014-15 season while recovering from the surgery. General Manager Sam Hinkie released a statement via NBA.com.
"Recently, Joel and Sixers personnel traveled to Los Angeles for a series of routine exams with a number of physicians who have been actively involved throughout this process. During his visit with Dr. Richard Ferkel, a standard CT scan on Joel's right foot revealed less healing than anticipated at this point.
"Discussions regarding the appropriate next steps are currently ongoing and we will share an update once it becomes available."
76ers' Nerlens Noel 'ecstatic' to play with Joel Embiid
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(4/27/15) 76ers center Nerlens Noel said Sunday that he's "ecstatic" to play with center Joel Embiid and that he things the pairing will be "something special," NBA.com reports.
"I’m ecstatic to play with Joel," Noel said. "I think it’s going to be something special. The chemistry we already have, and we haven’t even been on the court together, is something that’s great to have.
"I think things we need to work on, me personally, I need to continue to work on the shooting and be able to spread the floor a little bit, be able to knock down a 15-footer with more consistency. And as time goes on, I think Joel’s going to be good. He already has touch around the basket, and he can extend his game out to 15-footers, so I think it’s going to be very complimentary. Both of us having the ability to pass the ball, I think that’s going to be something that people don’t know too much about that’s going to help us a lot."
Noel averaged 9.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.8 steals while shooting 46.2 percent in 75 games during his rookie season. Embiid missed the season while recovering from a foot injury.
76ers coach Brett Brown questions Joel Embiid's work ethic
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(4/16/15) 76ers coach Brett Brown spoke to reporters Thursday and said he was not pleased with center Joel Embiid's work habits during parts of the season, reports the Bucks County Courier Times.
"There were times I wasn't happy with [Embiid's work ethic]," Brown said.
Embiid missed the entire season as he recovered from right foot surgery. When Embiid returns next season, Brown admitted it will be difficult playing Embiid and center Nerlens Noel together.
"The challenge of playing Nerlens and Joel together is ever-present," Brown said.
|The 76ers are making an annual ritual out of drafting injured big men in the lottery, as they snagged Joel Embiid third overall, a year after taking Nerlens Noel coming off a knee injury. Embiid was a likely No. 1 overall pick before a foot injury put him out at least through the first few months of the season. Seeing how the 76ers handled Noel's recovery -- sitting him out the entire year -- it wouldn't be a surprise if Embiid was on the same plan. Embiid could be a franchise-altering big man if he is healthy, but his Fantasy impact for the 2014-15 season is likely to be pretty limited. He may be worth taking a flier on late in yearly leagues, but should be an early-to-mid round pick in all dynasty/keeper Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
