Dante Exum still a Fantasy work in progress
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(2/4/15) Jazz guard Dante Exum has started six games in a row, but has failed to make much of an impact. After scoring 28 points with nine assists in his first two starts and looking like a potential Fantasy star, Exum has fallen on his face in the last four. He has just six points and five assists combined over the last four games, and simply doesn't look ready to make a Fantasy impact.
And that's okay. Exum is just 19, and had never played in a high-level league before this season. He is still very much a work in progress, and we probably should have expected growing pains. Exum's ownership has dropped to 29 percent in the last week in CBSSports.com Fantasy leagues, and at this point is only worth stashing in keeper/Dynasty leagues or deeper formats where you might be able to wait it out until he possibly figures things out.
Jazz guard Dante Exum getting the start on Thursday
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(1/22/15) Jazz guard Dante Exum will get the start on Thursday against the Bucks, the team announced.
The move is somewhat surprising, as starter Trey Burke is healthy. In 42 games this season, Exum has averaged 4.7 points and 2.0 assists. Coach Quin Snyder said he made the move in order to give the team a jolt, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Jazz PG Trey Burke (illness) questionable vs. Pacers
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
|(1/5/15) Jazz point guard Trey Burke missed the morning shootaround due to an illness and is questionable for Monday's game against the Pacers, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. Burke is averaging 12.2 points and 5.1 assists in 34 games.
If Burke can't play, rookie Dante Exum likely would start.
|Dante Exum entered the draft as a tantalizing talent, but we don't really know much about him. The 19-year-old has faced off against very little high-end talent, with limited experience playing for the Australian National Team and no professional experience under his belt. At this point, we can dream whatever possibilities we want onto him, but the dream ends once he takes the floor for the first time. The transition from playing in high school in Australia to playing for the Jazz in the NBA will likely be a tough one, but Exum is such a unique talent, Fantasy owners cannot pass on him completely come Draft Day. Though we know little about what to expect, Exum should still be worth a flier in the later rounds on Draft Day, and could be a mid-round pick in keeper/dynasty leagues.
