Bulls SF Doug McDermott (knee) hopes to return in 3-6 weeks
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(12/19/14) Bulls small forward Doug McDermott believes he'll need just three-to-six weeks to recover from Saturday's surgery to repair a small meniscus tear, Bulls.com reports.
"When we got the MRI, I was definitely shocked,” McDermott said Friday. "But then Dr. (Brian) Cole explained to me this is a very minor knee issue and very easy to come back from and I’ll be feeling ... he said I’ll be wanting to play within a week. I just have to listen to him and the trainers and not rush it. There’s really no point in it, rushing now for me."
McDermott added that he couldn't remember doing anything to cause the injury, which came to light after he noticed swelling in the knee after a long road trip. The rookie has averaged 3.2 points on 42.3 percent shooting in 17 games.

Report: Bulls list Joakim Noah, Doug McDermott out Friday
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(12/11/14) The Bulls listed center Joakim Noah and forward Doug McDermott as out for Friday’s game against the Trail Blazers, reports the Chicago Tribune.
It will be Noah’s second straight game he has missed while dealing with an ankle injury, while McDermott will miss his fifth consecutive game because of a knee injury.
Their next opportunity to play will Sunday at Miami.
|The Bulls traded two first-round picks to move up in this year's draft to take forward Doug McDermott, a sharpshooter out of Creighton University. There are some questions about McDermott's position, but there is no doubt about what kind of an offensive weapon he can be for a team that desperately needs help. As a senior, McDermott averaged 26.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 44.9 percent from three-point range; that last number is actually down slightly from his 45.8 percent career mark in college. McDermott should fill a need for the Bulls as a sharpshooter from the perimeter, though this is a team that is very deep in the frontcourt, so it is not clear how much he will play. McDermott is worth a mid-round pick in Dynasty/keeper leagues, but is more of a late-round option in yearly Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
