Bulls' Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic continue to impress Tuesday
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(11/5/14) Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau continues to be impressed with the play of young forwrads Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic. Both played combined for 20 points off the bench in Chicago's 98-90 victory over the Magic on Tuesday.
''I keep saying it over and over about (Mirotic) and Doug: I love them both,'' Thibodeau said, per the Associated Press.
McDermott shot 4 of 6 from the floor, including 1 of 2 from downtown, and 3 of 3 from downtown. He finished with 12 points and one rebounds in 12 minutes of game action. Mirotic scored eight points on 2 of 5 shooting from the field, including 2 of 4 from behind the arc, and 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. He added six rebounds, four assists and one steal while logging 23 minutes of game action.
|The Bulls traded two first-round picks to move up in this year's draft to take forward Doug McDermott, a sharpshooter out of Creighton University. There are some questions about McDermott's position, but there is no doubt about what kind of an offensive weapon he can be for a team that desperately needs help. As a senior, McDermott averaged 26.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 44.9 percent from three-point range; that last number is actually down slightly from his 45.8 percent career mark in college. McDermott should fill a need for the Bulls as a sharpshooter from the perimeter, though this is a team that is very deep in the frontcourt, so it is not clear how much he will play. McDermott is worth a mid-round pick in Dynasty/keeper leagues, but is more of a late-round option in yearly Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
