Bulls' Doug McDermott working to overcome injury down the stretch
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(2/6/15) Bulls forward Doug McDermott hasn't been able to play much in his rookie campaign. McDermott had arthroscopic knee surgery in December, but has been active since Jan. 19.
"It has been tough," McDermott said Friday. "It stunk that I had the injury because I felt I was starting to come along, getting used to the travel and how little you practice because there are so many dang games. I have a lot more respect for some of these (NBA) guys than when you're on the outside, looking in. It's impressive, man. It's crazy."
Coach Tom Thibodeau said the team may consider sending McDermott to the D-League after the All-Star break.
"We'll look at all the options, but the big thing with a rookie is, you still want to have your hands on him here," Thibodeau said.
McDermott is averaging 2.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in 19 games this season.

|(1/19/15) Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters forward Doug McDermott will be active for Monday’s game at Cleveland, reports the Chicago Tribune.
McDermott has not played since Nov. 30 while dealing with a knee injury. In 17 games, he is averaging 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds.
The Bulls are 3 1/2-point underdogs.
Bulls rule out Joakim Noah, Mike Dunleavy for Monday's game
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/18/15) The Bulls have listed center Joakim Noah and forward Mike Dunleavy as out for Monday's game against the Cavaliers. Noah has missed Chicago's last two game with left hand and right ankle injuries while Dunleavy has been out since Jan. 1 with a foot injury.
Noah is averaging 7.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 33 games while Dunleavy is averaging 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Rookie Doug McDermott is also considered questionable for Monday with a knee injury. He has not played since Nov. 30.
Bulls' Mike Dunleavy, Doug McDermott get the red light on Friday
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(1/16/15) As expected, the Bulls have ruled forwards Mike Dunleavy (foot) and Doug McDermott (knee) out for Friday's contest against the Celtics, according to ESPN.
Dunleavy has been dealing with some discomfort when running, and appears to be several days away from returning to action. Meanwhile, McDermott remains without a timetable for return.
Chicago is a 5-point road favorite against the Celtics.
|The Bulls traded two first-round picks to move up in this year's draft to take forward Doug McDermott, a sharpshooter out of Creighton University. There are some questions about McDermott's position, but there is no doubt about what kind of an offensive weapon he can be for a team that desperately needs help. As a senior, McDermott averaged 26.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 44.9 percent from three-point range; that last number is actually down slightly from his 45.8 percent career mark in college. McDermott should fill a need for the Bulls as a sharpshooter from the perimeter, though this is a team that is very deep in the frontcourt, so it is not clear how much he will play. McDermott is worth a mid-round pick in Dynasty/keeper leagues, but is more of a late-round option in yearly Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
