Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins scores team-high 27 vs. Lakers

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/25/15) Timberwolves small forward Andrew Wiggins scored a team-high 27 points on 8 of 16 shooting in his team's 101-99 overtime loss to the Lakers Wednesday.

Wiggins made 10 of his 11 free-throw attempts while kicking in six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in the loss. He played 49 minutes Wednesday for the second straight game and for the second time in three days.

"The good thing about us is we're young, so we don't get tired easily," Wiggins said after the game, per the Associated Press.

The Timberwolves will square off with the Rockets in Houston Friday.

Wolves forward Andrew Wiggins plans to be in Minnesota for long haul

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/18/15) Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins made his feelings known Wednesday when he told reporters that he wants to stay in Minnesota for the foreseeable future, reports CBSSports.com NBA Writer James Herbert.

Wiggins was born in Toronto and will play there for the first time Wednesday and was asked if he'd consider playing there.

"I love Minnesota. They treat me nice up there," he said. "I plan to be there a very, very, very long time."

Wiggins was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft and is a candidate for the NBA Rookie of the Year. In 66 games, he is averaging 15.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Wolves' Wiggins on his first tech: 'I started getting some calls after' that

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/24/15) Timberwolves small forward Andrew Wiggins explained to reporters why he received his first career technical foul following Monday night's 113-102 loss to the Rockets, per the Houston Chronicle.

With the team down six, the rookie was whistled for a technical foul with 1:12 remaining in the third period.

"I needed that," Wiggins said. "I started getting some calls after I did that. Before that, I didn't get a call. I drove to the basket seven times, maybe six were fouls, but I'm a rookie."

Wiggins scored 30 for the Timberwolves, who lost for the third time in four games. He has cracked the 30-point mark three times this season. Wiggins is averaging 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals through his first 55 games.

Andrew Wiggins believes trade to Wolves was 'best move for me'

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/16/15) Fresh off winning the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend, Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins had time to reflect on the trade that sent him from Cleveland to Minnesota in the offseason.

Wiggins was the No. 1 overall pick of the Cavaliers in the 2014 draft, but was eventually traded to the Timberwolves for Kevin Love. By getting away from glare of being LeBron James' teammate, Wiggins said it helped him mature faster, reports the National Post.

"I think it was the best move for me," Wiggins said. "It gave me more room and put me in a position where I could grow up faster. In the league, that's always what's best for you."

Wiggins admits that being a role player for the Cavaliers would've stunted his growth and being one of the top options for the Wolves has helped his game develop faster.

"Here I'm getting more time to shine and do what I was put in this league to do. And I'm enjoying the process," he said.
