Battier gets stitched up : Heat forward Shane Battier received four stitches on his chin following Game 2 of Miami's first-round playoff series against the Bucks Tuesday. Battier sustained a chin laceration in the fourth quarter of the 98-86 win after colliding with Larry Sanders. He never left the game and finished with 10 points on 2 of 5 shooting from the field in his 24 minutes off the bench. (Updated 4/24/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Battier should be fine moving forward as he was in good spirits following the game. The veteran was used mostly in a reserve role for the Heat this season and once again proved to be a threat from downtown. In fact, Battier connected on a career-high 43 percent of his shots from behind the arc, including 44 percent, over his last 17 games. However, Battier doesn't offer Fantasy owners much outside of his 3-point shooting and will only have value in deeper Rotisserie formats heading into the 2013-14 campaign. (Updated 4/24/13). |
| Shane Battier's first season in Miami did not go exactly as planned as the veteran struggled to find his shooting touch with the Heat. While most will remember the 110 made 3-pointers he sank last year in the post season, Battier's regular season production was dreadful at times. He shot career-worst 38.7 from the field during his 65 games with the Heat and just 33.9 percent from behind the arc, which resulted in him averaging 4.8 points and 2.4 rebounds. Battier spent much of the season coming off the bench and wound up averaging 23 minutes per contest, but he could have a hard time finding the floor this upcoming season. With Miami adding 3-point shooters Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis to their roster, minutes will be tough to come by at times. Coach Erik Spoelstra will have to mix and match different pieces around LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and will likely opt to go with whoever has the hot hand on any given night. Without the promise of seeing 20-plus minutes per game, Battier should be drafted in the majority of formats on Draft Day. However, his ability to knock down shots from downtown could make him a useful waiver-wire pick up on a weekly basis throughout the season. (Updated 8/22/12) |
