Ankle - Out for season (Updated - 3/21/13) |
| Fantasy Analysis |
Haywood's slide into obscurity continued even before the injury, as he finished the season averaging career lows of 3.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game. At 33 years old, it does not seem as if Haywood has much left in the tank, though he is under contract for two more seasons. At this point, he can be ignored in all Fantasy formats moving forward. (Updated 3/21/13). |
| After spending the last two-and-a-half seasons in Dallas, Charlotte scooped up Brendan Haywood off waivers after he was amnestied by the Mavericks over the summer. The 11-year veteran averaged just 5.2 points and 6.0 rebounds while averaging 21 minutes as a starter last season and now will compete with Bismack Biyombo and Bryon Mullens for minutes at center. However, the 32-year-old looks to be on the down side of his career as he hasn't even come close to sniffing double-digit rebounding or scoring totals in each of his last two seasons. While some of that was based on the way he was used, Haywood's role is expected to be similar with the Bobcats. Whether he winds up starting or not, the former University of North Carolina standout is likely looking at seeing at most around 20 minutes per night, which makes it tough to consistently put up numbers. Unless that prediction changes between now and the start of the regular season, Haywood should be considered merely low-end Fantasy reserve option on Draft Day. Only owners in deeper formats should consider scooping him up with a late-round pick. (Updated 8/22/12) |
