Mavs part ways with Murhpy: The Mavericks officially released veteran forward Troy Murphy Thursday, in order to make room for the signing of guard Derek Fisher. Murphy appeared in 14 games with Dallas before the release.

Kobe scores 40, Lakers outlast Warriors
Kobe Bryant scored 40 points, Pau Gasol added 26 and the Los Angeles Lakers found themselves rallying for the second successive game against one of the West's worst teams, beating the Golden State Warriors 120-112 on Sunday night.

The Lakers offense has struggled this season and Kobe Bryant can be a huge part of those struggles, especially late. But with Ramon Sessions on board, there's a good chance that brighter days are ahead for L.A.'s offensive output.
