Spurs G Tony Parker a few games away from returning to old self

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/22/15) Spurs guard Tony Parker told reporters following a 109-99 victory over the Nuggets on Tuesday that he is just a few more games from returning to All-Star level, per the San Antonio News-Express.

The final "gear" missing is more drives to the basket and more accuracy on his teardrop floater, he told the paper.

"It's coming back," Parker said. "I'm still a little bit mad at myself for missing too many easy shots, but I just have to be patient and stay positive. It was only my eighth game back, so I can't try to do too much, especially playing on a great team. You have to wait for your moment. I can't force it.

"It's not like I'm going to take 25 shots trying to get back to my rhythm. You've got to take good shots and go good to great, but I feel like it's coming back."

Parker scored 18 points, with seven assists and four rebounds in his team's victory over Denver. Since returning from a left hamstring strain on Jan. 6, Parker has averaged 10.6 points on 41.8 percent shooting. He's also averaging 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds over that eight-game span.

Spurs' Popovich is 'confident' Parker will be back to normal Friday

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(1/14/15) After Wednesday’s victory over the Hornets, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters he expects guard Tony Parker to resume his normal minutes Friday, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

Since returning from a hamstring injury five games ago, Parker has yet to play more than 31 minutes in a game, but Popovich said that will most likely change during Friday’s game against the Trail Blazers.

"I'm feeling pretty confident he can be normal come Friday," Popovich said.

Spurs taking cautious approach with Tony Parker

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(1/12/15) Since returning from a hamstring injury, Spurs guard Tony Parker has yet to eclipse more than 25 minutes in a game and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich indicated Paker’s health is more important than getting him on the court.

"He's been real slow, not very confident,” Popovich said, per the San Antonio Express-News. "He’s out of shape but trying to get back. We're going to keep going slowly. We'd like to win more games, but it’s more important for us to be healthy."

In the three games Parker has played since returning from the injury, Parker has scored a total of 22 points and dished out four assists in 60 minutes.

Spurs' Tony Paker feels confident enough to increase minutes

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(1/8/15) Spurs guard Tony Parker told reporters Thursday his hamstring felt good after Parker made his return from injury during Tuesday’s game against the Pistons, reports NBA.com.

Parker missed five games because of a hamstring injury before returning Tuesday. While Parker played only 13 minutes in the contest, he said he felt comfortable and confident enough to increase his minutes without risking further injury.

Spurs take 'conservative' approach with Tony Parker vs. Detroit

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/7/15) Spurs guard Tony Parker (hamstring) was eased back into action on Tuesday against the Pistons.

In his first game back since Christmas Day, Parker got the start but only played 13 minutes. He was not used in the second half. Parker missed all three of his field goal attempts and finished with only three points and two assists in a 105-104 defeat.

"He's healthy," coach Gregg Popovich said. "He wanted to play, but I'm being conservative."
