Spurs G Tony Parker wants to play 5-6 more seasons in NBA

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(6/17/15) Spurs guard Tony Parker has no intention of retiring anytime soon. Parker recently revealed his plan is to play for another 5-6 seasons in the NBA, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

While Parker, 33, will not retire from the NBA in the near future, he said he will retire from international competition after the 2016 summer Olympics.

Spurs PG Tony Parker changes offseason training routine

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(6/17/15) Spurs point guard Tony Parker is well aware that his body doesn't work the same anymore now that he's 33 years old. The perennial all-star has been forced to change his offseason training routines in order to keep his body in peak physical shape, per mySA.com.

After last season's title run, Parker took more time off because of hoe grueling a championship run can be.

“I only took three weeks off,” Parker said, per MySA.com. “Very different from last year. Because I played so much, everybody was telling me I needed to rest after we won last year. I felt like I took maybe too much off. My mentality is a lot different. I feel like I have to rebuild my body and make sure I don’t get all the little inflammations, all the little injuries I had. I’m very excited about it. I’ve been working out since June 1 so hopefully it will pay off with Le Bleus and I will be in shape when I come in camp.”

But after this season, which ended with a first-round exit, Parker took little time off and adjusted his workout regimen.

“Just being on the track, lifting with our strength coach. I do some boxing; it’s fun. I never did a fitness program like that before. I talked a lot with Pop (Gregg Popovich) and RC (Buford) about what I can do to make sure I finish my career on a high. And so they know I’m committed, and I’ll do everything I can to be in shape, like Timmy. Timmy has been great at the end of his career, changing his preparation.

“I’ll do the same thing.”

Spurs guard Tony Parker not 100 percent in playoffs

(4/28/15) Spurs guard Tony Parker admitted Tuesday that he is not 100 percent healthy heading into Game 5 against the Clippers, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Parker, who has played in all four postseason games, is dealing with injuries to his quad, ankle and Achilles. After struggling through the first three games of the series, he came back to record 18 points in Game 4.

He is averaging 8.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in the series.

Tony Parker in, Aron Baynes out for Spurs in Game 3

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/24/15) The Spurs have announced that star guard Tony Parker will be on the court Friday when his team hosts the Clippers. He had been dealing with an Achilles ailment and was considered questionable.

Not all their news is good, however. Center Aron Baynes (sprained ankle) will not suit up for the game.

Parker has been greatly stifled so far in the series. He's averaging just 5.5 points per game and shooting 23 percent from the field.

Spurs unsure if G Tony Parker (Achilles) will play in Game 3

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/23/15) Spurs guard Tony Parker is listed as questionable for the Game 3 matchup against the Clippers on Friday, reports NBA.com.

Parker is dealing with tightness in his right Achilles, which he aggravated during the Game 2 win. Parker dealt with a similar injury earlier this month.

The Spurs are 4-point favorites over the Clippers on Friday.
