Celtics forward Gerald Wallace to consider retirement in offseason
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(3/16/15) Celtics forward Gerald Wallace is starting to feel the old age get to him. The 14-year veteran has played just 27 of Boston's 65 games this year and will consider retirement during the offseason, reports The Boston Globe.
"Hopefully, I'll reflect going into the last year of my deal," he said. "This is my [14th] year. You kind of sit back and look at your career and all you've done and kind of just evaluate your past and try to set up for your future and see what you want to do. That’s the time I'll do it, in the offseason."
Wallace has scored just 23 points this season with 38 rebounds.
"I would love to continue to play, but it's more about my family and my kids," he said. "I'm only 32 years old and I've been in here 14 years. That's almost half of my life in this league. My kids are getting older. They're starting to play high school sports now. It depends on if they're comfortable with me still playing or they’re ready for me to come home and be part of their lives."

|(10/20/14) Celtics forward Gerald Wallace was limited to only five minutes of game action off the bench during Sunday's 44-minute experimental preseason game against the Nets.
Wallace, who is working his way back from a knee bruise, told reporters on Monday that he's still dealing with discomfort whenever he pushes off or tries to explode off his surgically-repaired knee, according to MassLive.com. Wallace's role with the team also remains uncertain.
"It's just really whatever the team needs me to do," Wallace said. "I told them, if they need me, they need me, if they don't, they don't. I'm here. I'm always prepared and I'm ready to go whenever they give me the call to go in."

Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace could earn minutes at PF
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(9/30/14) Celtics head coach Brad Stevens indicated that Jeff Green and Gerald Wallace could earn some minutes at power forward to start the season, according to the MetroWest Daily News on Tuesday. The move would likely cut into the playing time of Jared Sullinger and Brandon Bass.
Green appeared in all 82 games last season for the Celtics, averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 boards and 1.7 assists per outing. Wallace was limited to 58 games in 2013-14 and averaged only 5.1 points in 24.4 minutes per game.
Bradley scores 30, Celtics defeat Hornets 116-104
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Avery Bradley had 30 points and eight rebounds, and the Boston Celtics beat the Charlotte Hornets 116-104 on Monday night for an important Eastern Conference victory.
|Once one of the league's all-around dynamos, Gerald Wallace has aged into little more than a Fantasy afterthought at this point. Wallace rebounded from a disastrous season in Brooklyn by shooting 50.4 percent from the field with the Celtics last season, but also averaged just 5.1 points per game, in addition to 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 58 games. His season ended early after he required surgery to repair a torn meniscus in March, which will only hurt his declining athleticism. At this point, Wallace can be all but ignored in all Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
