|(10/8/14) The NBA has suspended Wizards forward Nene, centers DeJuan Blair and Daniel Orton and guard Xavier Silas for the opening game of the regular season for leaving the bench during a preseason altercation between Paul Pierce and Joakim Noah.
All four players will miss the opener against Miami on Oct. 29 and will be eligible to return Oct. 30 against the Magic.
Nene returns to help eliminate Bulls
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(4/30/14) Wizards forward Nene was back in the lineup Tuesday after serving his one-game suspension, and he played a big part in closing out a series win over the Bulls.
Nene was once again a focal point for the Wizards on offense, scoring 20 points on 10 of 17 shooting in 39 minutes. He added seven rebounds, four assists and one block and steal as the Wizards closed out the series in five games, 75-69.
Nene finished the series averaging 17.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
|Though injuries remain a constant issue, Nene put together his best season since 2010-11 last season. He missed 29 games overall, but he was a force when healthy, averaging 14.2 points per game on 50.3 percent shooting, while adding 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Nene finished 33rd among forwards in Fantasy scoring per game, and could reach that peak again next season as a key part of the Wizards' core. Unfortunately, with his injury concerns, Fantasy owners simply cannot take the risk of relying on Nene as a starter. Consider targeting him after the middle rounds on Draft Day, but have some insurance available.
