Pacers' Luis Scola learning to play his role off the bench
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(3/2/15) Pacers forward Luis Scola had a difficult time not being a starter in his first year in Indiana. Now, Scola has learned to deal with his role as a bench player.
"It took me a little while to get used to (playing off the bench)," he said to the team's website. "I obviously would have liked to play better (last season), but I think this year I'm more prepared. I kind of know what's going to happen and I can focus on what I can do on the court instead of focusing on what it would be like if I were to be more on the court.
"When you have a consistent role you get to know what your team is going to do and they know how you play and you know when you're going to get into the game and how many minutes you play. That helps."
Scola is averaging 9.2 points and 6.3 rebounds in 57 games this season.
"Him playing the first part of this season as a starter and getting extended minutes with these teammates really helped him find a rhythm that he didn't have last year with new teammates and an unfamiliar system," coach Frank Vogel said.

Pacers PF Luis Scola doubles up in great shooting performance
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(11/15/14) Pacers power forward Luis Scola made 10 of his 12 shots Saturday, scoring a season-high 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in his team's 99-90 win over the Bulls.
Scola had one of the best shooting nights of his career Saturday, taking at least 10 shots and making 83 percent of them for just the third time in his career. His 11 rebounds and 30 minutes of action were also season highs, and he kicked in two blocks and one steal for good measure. The Pacers have won three of their last four games after racking up six straight losses, and they'll try to keep it up Wednesday against the Hornets.
Luis Scola just misses double-double Tuesday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(2/25/14) Pacers forward Luis Scola just missed a double-double Tuesday, scoring nine points on 3 of 8 shooting and grabbing nine rebounds in his team's 118-98 win over the Lakers.
Scola has just one double-double this season and has only reached double digits in scoring twice in February. He did his damage Tuesday in just 14 minutes while also chipping in two assists and two steals in the win. Scola has averaged 7.6 points and 5.2 rebounds over 56 games played.
|Career-lows across the board are bad for Fantasy, and that's what Luis Scola had to deal with last season on the Indiana bench. Logging 17 minutes a game makes it pretty difficult to produce. The problem with the Pacers is their starters are too inefficient to spread minutes out more evenly across the roster. Maybe this season Frank Vogel gives someone on his bench a real chance at contributing steadily, but it's hard to determine if that will be the case. The best scenario for Scola's Fantasy value is a trade to a team that will utilize his skill set. Keep Scola off your radar on Draft Day, but reassess his value if he gets moved during or before the season.
