Bird: 'Huge gap' could keep Pacers from signing PF Luis Scola
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(5/25/15) Steady Pacers veteran power forward Luis Scola would like to return next year. And general manager Larry Bird would like to have him back. But financial reality could prove to be problematic.
"[There's] this huge gap that we've got to fill," Bird told VigilantSports.com. "We'll see how it goes."
Scola was the model of consistency this season. He averaged 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 20.4 minutes per game while shooting nearly 47 percent from the field.

Pacers' Luis Scola grabs season-high 23 points in victory
|by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer|
|(4/5/15) Forward Luis Scola went for 23 points and 12 rebounds in just 23 minutes on Sunday in the Pacers' win over the Heat.|
The 23 points was a season high for Scola.
|In the twilight of his career, Luis Scola remains dependable, if nothing else. He played 81 games in 2014-15, the seventh time in eight NBA seasons he missed just one or no games, and he even bounced back from a career-worst season the previous season. Scola averaged 9.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in just 20.5 minutes per game for the Pacers, and even started 16 games with David West dealing with injuries. He signed with the Raptors this offseason and could see a similar role behind the likes of Patrick Patterson and DeMarre Carroll. He doesn't quite do enough at this point in his career to justify targeting on Draft Day, but is worth keeping in mind if he is pushed into a starting role during the season.
