Stoudemire makes his return: Despite reports saying that he might miss the entirety of the Knicks' first round series against the Heat, Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire was able to play on Sunday in Game 4, despite having suffered a severe hand injury on Monday. Stoudemire has his best game of the series, despite dealing with a heavily-bandaged left hand, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to keep the Knicks from being eliminated, extending the series to a Game 5 with an 89-87 win. Game 5 is set for Wednesday in Miami. (Updated 05/06/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Stoudemire suffered the injury after punching a glass fire extinguisher case after Game 2, and he was forced to miss Game 3 as a result. There was some doubt as if he was going to be able to play in this series at all, so it was a great sign to see him play through the injury and avoid a setback. He should be good to go for the rest of the series, however long it lasts, so consider him a high-end Fantasy forward in postseason formats. (Updated 05/06/2012).

The only two concerns Fantasy owners should have with Stoudemire entering 2011-12 are the health of his back and how he’s going to divide the scoring with Carmelo Anthony. We’ll start with the positive news that Stoudemire should be 100 percent when the season opens. The negative – if it can be called that – is that Stoudemire’s production did drop when Anthony and Chauncey Billups arrived at Madison Square Garden from Denver. After averaging 26.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game before the All-Star break, Stoudemire went down to 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks after. Coach Mike D’Antoni surely spent the entire offseason devising an offensive scheme that would allow the Knicks to maximize Stoudemire’s value with Anthony in the fold and you can bet the dynamic duo have a big season in a wide-open high-flying offense. Owners have to assume that Stoudemire’s overall numbers may drop a bit, but he’ll remain one of the best Fantasy forwards/centers in the game. Center eligibility gives Stoudemire an added value and keeps him going within the first round in most Fantasy drafts. (Updated 8/23/11)
