Knicks SF Carmelo Anthony scores 14 points in opening loss

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/29/14) Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony scored a team-high 14 points on 5 of 13 shooting while recording four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 29 minutes in his team's 104-80 loss to the Bulls in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

The Knicks struggled adapting to the triangle offense during the preseason and expected to have a tough time offensively in the early going, but Wednesday's performance was brutal. Thirteen players saw playing time, but only Amar'e Stoudemire was able to join Anthony in double digits.

"Embarrassed? No, I am not embarrassed," Anthony said after the game. "We will get better. I believe that. I know that and we have another shot at it tomorrow night."

The Knicks will hope to bounce back Thursday against the Cavaliers.

Knicks' Carmelo Anthony will play more SF this season

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/4/14) Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, who trimmed down in the offseason, told reporters that he expects to play more small forward this season, per ESPN New York. Anthony added that the team has enough power forwards on the roster and that he's not needed there.

"If it comes down to it, I’ll go back there," Anthony said. "But I doubt it. They're going to move me down there. We're pretty packed at four and five positions."

Anthony won the the NBA scoring title in 2013 and finished second to Kevin Durant while playing 62 percent of his minutes at power forward last season. He averaged 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony: I'm 'most underrated'

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/2/14) Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has raised more than a few eyebrows by proclaiming himself as the "most underrated superstar" in the NBA, per ESPN.

Anthony was responding to a question indicating he could be underrated because he has yet to win an NBA championship.

"I know what I'm capable of doing," he said. "I know the grind and the hard work I put in to this. I know how consistent I've been over my career. To do it day in and day out and night in and night out on a very consistent basis year in and year out, I know what I can do and I know the work I've put in. ... So as far as caring about if I'm underrated as a superstar, and getting the respect I deserve, I don't worry about that."

Anthony won the the NBA scoring title in 2013 and finished second to Kevin Durant last year. But though his teams have been playoff qualifiers in 10 of his 11 seasons, they have advanced past the second round just once.
