Knicks hope Carmelo Anthony (knee) can start training in June

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/12/15) Knicks president of basketball operations Phil Jackson spoke to reporters Thursday and said the team is hopeful forward Carmelo Anthony can begin training in June, reports ESPN New York.

Anthony is recovering from knee surgery, which he underwent in February. He is expected to need four-to-six months to recover. The surgery was to repair a patella tendon debridement in his left knee.

Report: Knicks' Carmelo Anthony suffered knee injury last season

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/23/15) Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony's knee troubles began last season when he suffered a partial tear of the left patellar tendon, reports the New York Post.

When Anthony underwent surgery last week to repair a debridement in his knee, Anthony also needed to have calcium deposits cleaned out of his knee, which developed within the partial tear. Anthony is expected to need four-to-six months before he can return to the court.

Heat's Wade on Carmelo Anthony: Smart to shut it down

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/21/15) Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade said Friday that Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony did the "smart thing" by electing to undergo surgery, the New York Daily News reports.

"The smart thing for him to do was to shut it down and get healthy and he’ll be back by the time of training camp so he’ll be good," Wade said Friday before his team's 111-87 win in New York. "This is not one of the bad knee surgeries that you have to have. It’s probably a 25-minute procedure. It’s never great to go in and open anything up. But if you wanted a knee surgery to happen, this is the one you’d want. Like I said, Melo will be fine."

Wade underwent the same procedure, called patella tendon debridement and repair surgery, following the 2006-07 season. He had a second surgery on the knee in 2012 and has dealt with tendinitis and bone bruises throughout his career.

"The biggest thing is that he was smart about it,” Wade said. "Obviously a lot of things out there about why and what - the reason was (for him to have the surgery). But I was in the exact same position he was in. Actually we had nine wins going into the All-Star break and he has ten so he’s better than we was. But we shut it down and I was able to get surgery and get healthy and come back and have my best season as a pro."

Wade also said he spoke to Anthony before his surgery. The Knicks forward is expected to need four-to-six months of recovery time.

Knicks' Carmelo Anthony underwent knee surgery Thursday

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/19/15) The Knicks announced Thursday forward Carmelo Anthony underwent surgery to repair a left knee patella tendon debridement in his left knee.

Anthony is expected to need four to six months to recover from the surgery.

Knicks expect Carmelo Anthony to be out four to six months

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/18/15) The Knicks announced Wednesday forward Carmelo Anthony will undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee and he is expected to need four to six months to recover. The surgery will be performed to repair a left knee patella tendon debridement.

Knicks president Phil Jackson announced the decision at a press conference Wednesday and said the team was comfortable with Anthony playing in the All-Star Game, but wanted the surgery performed sooner rather than later, reports ESPN New York. Jackson added that the team did not pressure Anthony into the surgery and it was Anthony's choice
