Delfino's foot will require surgery: Rockets forward Carlos Delfino's postseason came to a close a few hours before his teammates, due to a bone fracture in his right foot that will require surgery. Delfino was announced as out for the playoffs hours before the Rockets lost Friday's Game 6 against the Rockets. Delfino averaged 9.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the postseason. He is expected to be ready for the start of next season. (Updated 5/4/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Delfino is under contract for a very reasonable sum of $3 million, and the Rockets should be able to put him to use again next season. He spent time as a small forward and shifted to the power forward spot at times, where he took advantage of mismatches against bigger defenders. He averaged 10.6 points per game, the third-best total of his career, and he shot a very solid 37.5 percent from three-point range. Delfino should remain a useful Fantasy option in deeper, category-based formats, and he should be worth a late-round pick in many leagues on Draft Day. (Updated 5/4/13). |
| After spending the last three seasons in Milwaukee, Carlos Delfino decided to sign with the Rockets this summer. The seven-year veteran averaged 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals while averaging 28.5 minutes over 54 games for the Bucks last season. He also shot 40 percent from the field and averaged 1.6 made 3-pointers per game, which ranked 35th among all NBA players. While Delfino has only averaged double-digit scoring in two of his seven years in the league both of those came when Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson was an assistant on Scott Skiles' staff. Some feel that Delfino will benefit from being reunited with Sampson and he will likely compete for minutes at small forward and shooting guard. Whether he ends up starting or not, Delfino is likely looking at seeing around 25-28 minutes per game this season, which is what he has averaged over the last three seasons. That means Fantasy owners can expect to get low-teens scoring with a handful of rebounds, assists and a steal or two most nights. Combine that with a made 3-pointer and Delfino can be considered a viable low-end option in deeper mixed formats entering the 2012-13 campaign. Keep in mind his ability to make 3-pointers and fill up a stat sheet gives him slightly more value in category-based formats. (Updated 8/27/12) |
