|(12/25/14) Spurs forward Boris Diaw did not play Thursday due to an illness, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Diaw was dealing with an 100 degree fever, but it sounds like he could have gutted it out if the team needed him. Coach Greg Popovich said he wanted to conserve bodies for the team's game against New Orleans on Friday, and opted to give Diaw a rest. Diaw is averaging 9.1 points per game.
Boris Diaw inks new deal with Spurs
|by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com|
|(7/7/14) The Spurs re-signed pass-first big man Boris Diaw to a three-year deal worth $22.5 million, Yahoo Sports reports. |
Diaw had been drawing interest from the Trailblazers, but ultimately decided San Antonio was still the place for him. He shined in the NBA Finals to the tune of 6.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
|He got the world's attention in the Finals with smooth passing and savvy post moves, but Boris Diaw has been a sneaky Fantasy option for a few years now. Should you draft him? Outside of deep Rotisserie leagues, probably not. But he'll become useful at some point in the season, whether because of a teammate's injury or a run of high-assist games. That span last season was between weeks 13 and 19 when Tiago Splitter was dealing with injury. He averaged 22.5 Fantasy points per game over that stretch. Nothing crazy, but a nice injury replacement off the waiver wire, and in Roto his efficient shooting and widespread production boosted his value a bit. Ignore him on Draft Day, but keep an eye on his numbers as the season rolls on.
