Fantasy Analysis
Diaw was not used on Saturday night, but that was just Gregg Poppovich trying to give the 29-year-old a rest. Diaw has been used in a reserve role for the Spurs thus far, which is unlikely to change much over the final few weeks of the season. Fantasy owners should consider Diaw nothing more than low-end depth in all formats. (Updated 04/01/2012).
05/18/2012 00:28 Spurs wear out Clips, take control
Tony Parker scored 22 points on his 30th birthday, Tim Duncan had 18 and the San Antonio Spurs beat the fading Los Angeles Clippers 105-88 on Thursday night, pushing their winning streak to 16 and taking a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series.
05/07/2012 23:01 Spurs hold off Jazz to complete sweep
Manu Ginobili broke out of his shooting slump with 17 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to an 87-81 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday night and a sweep of their first-round Western Conference series.
Diaw's numbers during his second season in Charlotte were eerily similar to his first. The 29-year-old once again averaged 11.3 points per contest to go along with five assists and four assists while appearing in and starting all 82 games. While Diaw's lack of scoring was once again the source of some frustration for Fantasy owners, Diaw's peripheral stats kept him a viable option throughout the season, especially in Rotisserie and category-based formats. However, Paul Silas told Diaw he wants him to be assertive on the offensive end of the floor next season and take more shots. Combine that with the departure of Stephen Jackson, and Diaw could finally get his scoring back into the mid-teens. Still, this isn't the first time we have heard this about Diaw, who has always been critiqued for being too passive. Either way, Diaw's ability to fill up a box score on a nightly basis makes him worthy of a mid-to-late round pick in standard formats on Draft Day. Owners in Rotisserie formats should take him a little higher. (Updated 8/28/11)
