Fantasy Analysis
Hinrich has been seeing significant minutes with the all the injuries the Hawks have been dealing with and has taken advantage of his extended playing time. The 31-year-old is averaging 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his last five contests and is shooting 43 percent from the field over that stretch. While those numbers are nothing to write home about, owners can continue to view Hinrich as a viable low-end guard option in deeper formats moving forward. (Updated 03/27/2012).
05/11/2012 02:41 Hawks-Celtics Game 6: Hawks continue their stay in purgatory
The Atlanta Hawks lost Game 6 Thursday to the Celtics. Where will they go from here? Never improving, never declining, the Hawks will likely remain an Eastern Conference prop stuck in purgatory.
05/04/2012 23:04 Celtics 90 Hawks 84: That's who the Celtics are
The Celtics beat the Hawks in overtime in Game 3 because of their self-identity as a team that wins close games, despite a horrible performance team-wide.
05/01/2012 23:04 Celtics 87 Hawks 80: Hawks beat themselves when faced with Celtics' grit
Just as the Hawks built a lead through three quarters in their Game 2 loss 87-80 to Boston with their ball movement offense spurring their defense, so too could you see the meltdown coming defensively once their offense stalled.
05/01/2012 22:33 Pierce lifts depleted Celts to Game 2 win
Paul Pierce battled through another tough shooting night to score 36 points and the Boston Celtics wiped out Atlanta's 11-point lead in the second half even without Rajon Rondo, stunning the Hawks 87-80 on Tuesday in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Hinrich joined the Hawks in a trade last season and immediately took over the starting point guard role. However, his production remained fairly unchanged from his time in Washington. The veteran out of Kansas averaged just over 10 points per contest for the second straight year to go along with 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds. However, an injury during the playoffs provided Jeff Teague with an opportunity to play, so Hinrich may be coming off the bench next season. Either way, Teague will likely steal minutes away from the 30-year-old, which is why he will enter the season as merely a Fantasy reserve, worthy of a late-round selection in most formats. However, Fantasy owners should continue and monitor how the Hawks split up minutes between the two. While Hinrich doesn't normally offer high-end production, his diversified stat line gives him some value in deeper formats when he sees quality minutes. (Updated 8/23/11)
