(10/19/13) Heat small forward James Jones caught fire from beyond the arc as he drained six treys during Saturday's preseason game against the Spurs.
Jones got hot early on as he drained four corner 3-pointers in the first quarter. He connected twice more from downtown in the third quarter. Five of his six 3-pointers on the night came from the either the right or left corner. He went 6 of 8 shooting from the field -- all from downtown -- and finished with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal while logging 24 minutes of game action.
|Jones returning to Miami |

(6/27/13) The champion Heat look likely to bring most of their roster back for the 2013-14 season, and they got confirmation from a pair of little-used bench scorers. Rashard Lewis and James Jones confirmed Tuesday they have exercised their contract options for next season.
|Even on a team that values floor spacing, James Jones has been unable to find much playing time over the last two seasons. He was essentially a non-factor in 2012-13, averaging just 5.8 minutes in 38 games, and that coincided with a season-long shooting slump that saw Jones make just 30.2 percent of his 3-pointers. The Heat might try to find more room for Jones this season after allowing Mike Miller to walk, but he has not played more than 20 minutes per game since 2007-08, so it is highly unlikely Jones will be worth much of a look for Fantasy purposes. He can be ignored in the vast majority of leagues on Draft Day.
