Kaman to test the waters: Hornets center Chris Kaman is set to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, and according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, it is unlikely that the team will make a big push to keep him. Kaman dealt with injuries during the season and was asked to stay away from the team in January, as the team attempted to trade him. He ultimately appeared in 27 games, average 13.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. (Updated 05/20/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Kaman is a free agent big man, always a valued commodity in free agency, so he will probably receive plenty of interest. It appears as if the Hornets will not be among the teams vying for his services, as they continue on a youth movement. The 30-year-old showed his can still be productive this season, so while he is obviously an injury risk, in the right place he can be considered a viable Fantasy center, worth targeting in the middle rounds on Draft Day. It's not the Summer of Dwight we once expected. Instead, Deron Williams stands as the only player worthy of a max deal. Ken Berger says whether he stays with the Nets or leaves will alter the landscape of free agency.
A devastating ankle injury sidelined C Chris Kaman for nearly three months at the beginning of last season and he struggled to recover. Though he returned to action in February, he never seemed to be 100 percent and a knee injury later in the year capped his disappointing season. Yet Kaman earns a fresh start this season following a trade to New Orleans in December. Kaman, who spent eight years with the Clippers, is just one season removed from averaging 18.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Kaman is still capable of registering the numbers he did in 2009-10, but don't anticipate 15.8 shot attempts per game as he's expected to play behind C Emeka Okafor with the Hornets. Fantasy owners should target Kaman in the middle rounds of 2011-12 drafts. (Updated 12/16/11)
