|(10/22/14) Wizards power forward Kris Humphries, who underwent hand surgery on Oct. 9 to repair an injury sustained two quarters into the preseason, is hoping to be cleared for the regular season opener next week against Miami.
"That's the goal," he told the Washington Post. "It's just a matter of being able to catch the ball."
Humphries was acquired in a sign-and-trade from Boston in the offseason. His playing time slipped with the Nets and Celtics over the last two years after peaking in the 2011-12 season, when he averaged 13.8 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Wizards C Kris Humphries suffers hand laceration Monday
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(10/7/14) Wizards center Kris Humphries left Monday's preseason opener against the Bulls in the second quarter after slicing his right hand on the rim attempting to block a layup, according to The Washington Post. He needed eight stitches for a laceration and has been ruled out for the team's next two preseason games.
"We’re going to send him back home," coach Randy Wittman said. "He can’t do anything because of those stitches so we’ll send him back home so he’ll get some workouts and conditioning in."
|Kris Humphries handled himself well in his lone season in Boston, moving in and out of the starting lineup on a seemingly nightly basis. He ended up averaging 8.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in 69 games -- 30 starts -- and was rewarded with a three-year contract worth $13 million from the Washington Wizards. The Wizards lost reserve big man Trevor Booker in free agency, so Humphries should see plenty of minutes with the Wizards, however he will likely be stuck in a reserve role full time, barring injuries. He could be intermittently useful, but Humphries is best left untouched in most Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
