The Nuggets are 5 1/2-point favorites over the Mavericks on Wednesday.
Nuggets trade Nate Robinson to Celtics for Jameer Nelson
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(1/13/15) The Nuggets traded point guard Nate Robinson to the Celtics for point guard Jameer Nelson. Robinson is on the final year of the two-year deal reportedly worth $4.1 million he signed before the start of the 2013-14 season. He is expected to get a buyout with the Celtics. No draft picks are involved in the deal.
Robinson has been a marginal contributor this season for Denver due to injury woes. He averaged 19.7 minutes per contest in 2013-14 before tearing his ACL. Through 33 games (one start), he's averaging only 5.8 points, 2.3 assists in 14.1 minutes. He's also shooting a career-low 34.8 percent from the field and 26.1 percent from 3-point range over that span.
Nelson spent 10 seasons with the Magic before signing with Dallas. He was traded to Boston on Dec. 18. Nelson is averaging 6.8 points, 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 29 games.
Celtics make Jameer Nelson inactive for Monday's game
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(1/12/15) Celtics guard Jameer Nelson is inactive for Monday's game against the Pelicans.
Nelson is dealing with an ankle injury. He's already missed five games due to the issue. Nelson is averaging 6.8 points and 4.4 assists per game.
|For the first time in his career, Jameer Nelson will be playing his home games somewhere other than Orlando, after signing with the Mavericks this offseason. Additionally, for the first time since 2005-06, Jameer Nelson is may not be locked into a full-time starting role, as he joins a deep Mavericks backcourt. He might end up as a starter, but there are enough options in Dallas that he is almost certainly to see fewer than the 32.0 minutes per game he averaged a year ago. Nelson will likely slide into the Jose Calderon role in Dallas, serving more as a spot-up shooter and ball-mover than initiator, so don't expect him to average 7.0 assists per game again. Playing at such a deep position, it is hard to justify viewing Nelson as anything more than a low-end Fantasy option in most leagues on Draft Day.
