MRI confirms torn thumb ligament for Blazers' LaMarcus Aldridge
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(1/22/15) An MRI has confirmed that Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge has a radial collateral ligament tear is his left thumb, the team announced Thursday. He will require surgery on his thumb, which is expected to keep him sidelined for six-to-eight weeks.
Aldridge suffered the injury Monday and played just 14 minutes in his team's home win over the Kings. His initial X-rays came back negative but his first MRI delivered inconclusive results due to swelling in the thumb. His second MRI Thursday revealed the torn ligament, which will keep the power forward sidelined until at least early March.
Aldridge has averaged 23.2 points and 10.2 rebounds in 38 games. Dorell Wright saw a season-high 35 minutes of action Wednesday and could be called upon to fill Aldridge's starting role while he remains out.

Dorell Wright shines in blowout loss
|by Jeff Tobin | CBSSports.com|
|(3/22/14) Trail Blazers forward Dorell Wright started his fifth game in a row Saturday against the Bobcats, in place of the injured LaMarcus Aldridge.
Wright played just 24 minutes in the start, but still managed to record a season high in scoring with 17 points. He shot 6 of 12 from the field and added a 5-for-5 mark at the free-throw line, while tossing in six rebounds as well, in the 124-94 loss.
Wright is averaging 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game since joining the starting lineup.
|Trail Blazers forward Dorell Wright enters the 2014-15 season looking for a revival in his career. Wright was unable to do that in his first season with the Blazers, despite appearance in 68 games, including 13 starts. Although he received 13 starts, it was his lack of playing time that contributed to his low production. With Philadelphia -- a team that was not contending for a playoff spot -- in 2012-13, Wright averaged 22.6 minutes per game. With a contender like Portland, Wright only logged 14.5 minutes per contest. Over that span, the 10-year veteran averaged only 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists while shooting 37.4 percent from the floor and 34.2 percent from downtown -- his lowest numbers since his days with the Miami Heat. Wright is not expected to see enough minutes to make any sort of consistent impact in Fantasy. He is not even worth a late-round flyer.
