Mavericks' Raymond Felton making progress from ankle issue
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(10/20/14) Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle told reporters guard Raymond Felton is starting to make some progress in his recovery from a right ankle injury, according to the team's official website. Felton suffered the injury Oct. 10 and was given a 10-day timetable for recovery.
"He's doing much better. He's walking, and that's good," Carlisle said. "He's progressing every day."
Felton will not play Monday against the Grizzlies and will have games to return in the preseason. If he is unable to return, he'll be sidelined until Nov. 6 at Portland due to a four-game suspension.
Mavericks' Raymond Felton dealing with ankle injury

|(10/10/14) Mavericks guard Raymond Felton left Friday's game with an ankle injury, according to ESPN.
Felton sprained his right ankle, and left the game in the first quarter. X-rays were negative, so Felton shouldn't be out long. He is, however, suspended for the first four games of the season due to a gun charge.
Jameer Nelson in the lead for starting role
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(10/6/14) The Mavericks have plenty of experience at the point guard spot this season, with Jameer Nelson and Raymond Felton joining Devin Harris this offseason. It looks like Nelson is going to get the first crack at the starting role, head coach Rick Carlisle told ESPN.com Sunday.
"When we were recruiting him this summer, I told him we were looking for the best guy to be a starter for us," Carlisle said. "I really like Harris off the bench."
Nelson played with the starters during a team scrimmage Saturday, with Harris and Felton playing together with the second unit, a look they could go a lot this season.
"I like Jameer in that spot and Felton, he's going to be out the first four games," Carlisle added. "So if there were some tea leaves here, that’s what it may look like. But it's early to commit to anything. We got to see how it goes in games."
Mavericks not ready to name starting point guard
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(9/30/14) Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is not ready to name a starter at point guard, according to ESPN Dallas. In fact, he's not concerned over the idea of splitting minutes between Devin Harris, Jameer Nelson and Raymond Felton.
"I get a lot of questions about the minutes crunch," Carlisle said. "I'm not worried about that. I just want good basketball players that want to win, and I think we have that."
Report: Tyson Chandler back to the Mavericks?
|by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com|
|(6/25/14) The Knicks rebuild looks to be in full effect, as ESPN reported late Wednesday that the Mavericks were on the verge of acquiring center Tyson Chandler in a trade that also involves point guard Raymond Felton.
The two teams are said to be in "advanced" talks for a deal that would bring Dallas the stability it has lacked in the middle while freeing the Knicks of Felton's less than desirable contract.
Chandler played a large part in the Mavericks' 2011 title. He averaged 10.4 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in 55 appearances with the Knicks last season.
|Raymond Felton took a huge step back last season, and the Knicks ridded themselves of his contract in a trade with the Mavericks. That could end up being a good move for the veteran, all things considered, as the Mavericks lost Jose Calderon in the deal and will be in need of some point guard help. Felton shot just 39.5 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three-point range, en route to a career-low 9.7 points per game, but he still averaged 5.6 assists with just 2.0 turnovers in his 65 appearances. If he can earn a solid role, a move to a better offense in Dallas could help Felton re-gain some of his form. Felton is worth just a late-round pick in most Fantasy formats, but could prove more useful than expected if things fall right.
