Gerald Green tops career-high in scoring again
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(3/7/14) Suns guard Gerald Green topped his career-high in scoring for the second time this season Thursday, as he dropped 41 points to lead the way in a 128-122 win over the Thunder.
Green, who set his career-high with a 36-point effort in late February, did most of his damage in a 24-point third quarter. He scored his 41 points on 12 of 22 shooting, with eight 3-pointers made and a 9 for 11 mark from the free-throw line. The 28-year-old also added five rebounds and two assists to go with his scoring high, though he also turned the ball over three times in 31 minutes.
Green has scored 30-plus three times in the team's last 10 games, after doing so just three times in his career entering the season. He is averaging 22.8 points per game over the last 10.
Gerald Green fuels Suns with 33 points vs. Hawks
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(3/2/14) Suns guard Gerald Green erupted for 33 points on 9 of 14 from the floor, including 5 of 8 from 3-point land, and a perfect 10 of 10 from the free throw line in a 129-120 victory over the Hawks on Sunday.|
Green did all of his damage in 30 minutes of game action, also contributing with three rebounds, one assist and one block. He cracked the 30-point mark twice over his last eight games. He is averaging 20.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists over his last five games.
|You know him for his insane leaping ability, but Gerald Green finally became more than just a great dunker playing for Jeff Hornacek in the Suns' run-and-gun offense. Most of his value resides in Rotisserie leagues, where his 2.5 made threes per game have the most impact. He finished fourth in the league in three point field goals made, ahead of Kevin Durant, Kevin Love and Kyle Korver. The problem is he doesn't do anything but shoot and score, but his 85 percent from the free throw line adds a small bonus to his otherwise lackluster averages. And as far as shot chuckers go, Green was pretty efficient at it, shooting 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from three. Still, we have no evidence that Green is capable of doing anything but score, and the Suns just brought in another high-usage guard in Isaiah Thomas who might take shots away. Leave Green until the mid-to-late rounds of category leagues and grab him at the end of your points drafts.
