Warriors, Celtics make Lee-for-Wallace swap official

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(7/27/15) What was long reported became official Monday, as the Warriors finalized a deal with the Celtics to send center David Lee to Boston in exchange for forward Gerald Wallace and guard Chris Babb.

The trade was first reported on July 7, but the Celtics needed to make various roster moves in order to facilitate the trade.

"On behalf of the entire Golden State Warriors organization, we thank David Lee for his contributions both on and off the court over the last five years," Warriors GM Bob Myers said.

Lee averaged 7.9 points and 5.2 rebounds last season in a reduced role, while Wallace was a non-factor for the Celtics, scoring just 1.1 points in nine minutes.

Celtics send Gerald Wallace to Warriors for David Lee

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7/7/15) The Celtics have agreed to send small forward Gerald Wallace to the Warriors for power forward David Lee.

There will be no picks or cash involved in the deal, per CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger, who has reported that it's a straight-up deal.

The 33-year-old Wallace bottomed out last year, scoring just 1.1 points in nine minutes per game.

Lee came off the bench to spark the Warriors in the NBA finals against Cleveland, but his 7.9 scoring average in the regular season was his lowest since his rookie year of 2005-06. He did average 5.2 rebounds in 18 minutes per game.

Warriors GM: David Lee's fate not yet determined

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(6/19/15) Warriors general manager Bob Myers is making it clear that the team has not made a decision on center David Lee's future, per CSNBayArea.com.

It was reported earlier this week that the Warriors and Lee's camp came to an agreement that the team would look to find Lee a new team this offseason. Myers is suggesting that that move has not been made.

“I know it’s been reported, but we’re still trying to figure out everything with the roster,” Myers said at a season-ending news conference. “At this stage, we usually have more time before the draft or free agency.

“But I won’t sit here and say we’ve decided anything definitively. If I did, I’d probably end up changing my mind, or we would change our mind. Because what I’ll find out now and what we’ll find out is the next seven days prior to the draft and whatever it is until July 1, there’ll be a lot of different things that’ll be thrown at us that we’ll explore. So it’s not the right time to even say we’re absolutely going in one direction or the other.”

Lee played in just 38 minutes over six games during the NBA Finals.

Report: Warriors trying to find taker for David Lee

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(6/17/15) After a season of mostly sitting on the bench while being the team's highest paid player, the Warriors and forward David Lee have agreed to part ways, sources told ESPN.

Lee's representatives and the Warriors will work together to find Lee a new team in the offseason.

Lee played 38 minutes over six games in the NBA Finals and he received just 12 minutes in the Western Conference Finals against Houston.

Kerr vows to continue playing Warriors C David Lee

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6/10/15) Steve Kerr has vowed to use Game 3 surprise David Lee more extensively going forward in the NBA Finals.

The center emerged from the bench to give the Warriors a spark. He scored 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting and added four rebounds, two assists and a steal in just 13 minutess. Kerry certainly took notice.

"Yeah, you'll see more of David Lee," Kerr told the New York Post. "He played really well."

Lee, who has been anticipating a trade from Golden State the last two years, had not played in the previous three playoff games and was given just 12 minutes in the Western Conference finals against Houston.
