Villanueva picks up fifth-year option: Predictably, Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva picked up his option for the 2013-14 season, a deal that will pay him $8.5 million. Villanueva is entering the final year of a five-year, $37.7 million contract.

| Fantasy Analysis |
Villanueva appeared in 69 games this season, averaging a career-low 6.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. With the Pistons continuing to rebuild, it is unlikely that he sees a larger role than that this season, so Fantasy owners should ignore him in most Fantasy formats on Draft Day.

| Charlie Villanueva spent his offseason getting himself into optimum shape as he's been a constant injury risk during his Detroit tenure. Villanueva changed his training routine and is entering the season in the best shape of his career as he attempts to vye for minutes in the rotation. Still, Villanueva has a long road to Fantasy respectability after playing in just 13 games last season and averaging 7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 3-pointers per game over 13.8 minutes. Until he proves himself during the season, Villanueva will only be viable in the deepest of Fantasy formats. (Updated 8/28/12) |
