Billups wants to stay in L.A. : Guard Chauncey Billups said he would be willing to re-sign with the Clippers next season, EPSN reports. Billups, who will be an unrestricted free agent over the summer, averaged 8.4 points and 2.2 assists on 40.2 percent shooting from the field this past year. "I would love to be back here and continue to help in this process," Billups said. "I feel like we are getting closer. I definitely want to be a part of it and I'll be able to show everybody who I've always been with a summer of getting myself together, so hopefully it works out like that." (Updated 5/5/13) |

Billups was limited to just 22 games after coming back from a ruptured Achilles and several other injuries, but said he feels as good as he has in quite some time. In fact, the veteran said he wants to play another two seasons in the NBA. "I'm focused on playing a couple more years," he said. "Two more years is my goal and after that my desire is more to be in the front office, not coaching." While Billups may want to play for two more years, that could be easier said than done for the soon-to-be 37-year-old. It will be interesting to see how much interest Billups draws this summer with his recent injury history. While Billups may still have another productive season or two left in him, he will first have to prove he can stay healthy and produce before we consider him a reliable Fantasy option again. (Updated 5/5/13). |
| Chauncey Billups was on his way to a solid season as the Clippers’ starting shooting guard last season, averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 assists through 20 games before a torn Achilles tendon ended his season abruptly. Billups will be 36 years old by the beginning of the season, and though the Clippers maintain that they plan to have him return as the starter, the injury makes him a big question mark. Fantasy owners should feel to take a shot on him in the later rounds on Draft Day, but do so with tempered expectations, considering the injury concerns. (Updated 10/10/12) |
