Kidd shows rust in return: Dallas guard Jason Kidd returned to the court on Friday after missing six games with a calf injury. Kidd scored eight points and dished out 10 assists in his 27 minutes of action. He shot 2 for 4 from the field -- going 2 for 3 from downtown -- and knocked down both his foul shots. Kidd would grab five boards, block a shot and make two steals in the 104-97 win over Minnesota. "He's a big part of our heart and soul. When we're without him, we can win some games but we're not the same team," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. It wasn't all good though as Kidd committed eight of Dallas' 18 turnovers. Fantasy Analysis
Kidd showed a bit of rust as he turned the ball over way too much for anyone's liking. But those assists are what Fantasy owners look for from the veteran. Kidd is having his worst season of his career in terms of scoring, which has hurt his value. Still, when he's healthy, Kidd is worth using as a No. 4 guard option in most Fantasy leagues. Owners should give him some time to get into a groove thought before inserting him back into those lineups. (Updated 02/11/2012).

Rookie Kyrie Irving made a driving layup in traffic with 15.8 seconds left to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a 91-88 win over the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.
Jason Kidd is entering his 18th NBA season and he still remains among the elite guard options in Fantasy. The reason? Kidd has averaged at least eight assists per game each of the last 16 years, a quality that catapults his value in Rotisserie formats and also in standard-scoring Head-to-Head leagues that reward assists with two points. Kidd has averaged below 10 points per game in three of the last five seasons and he may not even equal the 7.9 points per game he managed last season at this point in his career, but Kidd remains capable of producing across the stat line, being a plus producer in dimes, steals and 3-point shooting. While a continued general decline should be expected we do not anticipate Kidd dropping from the ranks of the top-20 guards in Fantasy hoops. He remains a top-50 draft pick in any league, who may still be selected within the first two rounds in category play. (Updated 8/28/11)
