Fantasy Analysis
O'Neal joins a long injury list for Boston as it is unclear when he suffered the latest issue. The aging veteran has certainly shown signs of wearing down and is averaging a career-low 43.0 percent from the field this season. He should be left on the bench only in deeper Fantasy formats. 02/10/2012 21:41 Raptors pick up rare win against Celtics
DeMar DeRozan scored 21 points, Jose Calderon had 17 points and 14 assists and the Toronto Raptors beat Boston 86-74 on Friday for their third win in the past 20 meetings with the Celtics.
02/05/2012 14:48 Garnett, Rondo big as Celts top Memphis
Kevin Garnett matched his season-high with 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to their fourth straight win, 98-80 over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
Boston C Jermaine O’Neal has avoided surgery and enters the 2011-12 season healthy with his wrist feeling close to 100 percent. That is the good news. The bad news is that O’Neal only played in 24 games last year with Boston and averaged 5.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over 18 minutes per night. But he has improved his strength following the retirement of Shaquille O'Neal and is in line for a starting role this year. A healthy Jermaine O’Neal shouldn’t be expected to post more than 10-15 points per game, and his health is always a question mark. It's doubtful O’Neal is going to stay healthy the entire season so he should be viewed as a last-round option only in deeper Fantasy formats for the 2011-12 season. (Updated 12/16/11)
