Celtics done with O'Neal: The Boston Celtics waived injured center Jermaine O'Neal on Friday, just over a month after he had season-ending wrist surgery. O'Neal, who has not played since Feb. 20, averaged 5.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 25 games with Boston this season. (Updated 04/20/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
O'Neal has hinted at retirement in the past and it appears that is the likely destination for the 33-year-old. His game has struggled in recent seasons as his scoring averages have dipped below 14 ppg in each of the past six years. He should remain untouched in all Fantasy formats. (Updated 04/20/2012).

Paul Pierce scored 24 points to help the Boston Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 86-72 on Saturday night.
Boston C Jermaine O’Neal has avoided surgery and enters the 2011-12 season healthy with his wrist feeling close to 100 percent. That is the good news. The bad news is that O’Neal only played in 24 games last year with Boston and averaged 5.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over 18 minutes per night. But he has improved his strength following the retirement of Shaquille O'Neal and is in line for a starting role this year. A healthy Jermaine O’Neal shouldn’t be expected to post more than 10-15 points per game, and his health is always a question mark. It's doubtful O’Neal is going to stay healthy the entire season so he should be viewed as a last-round option only in deeper Fantasy formats for the 2011-12 season. (Updated 12/16/11)
