Wallace back to bench role: Pistons coach Lawrence Frank made a lineup switch Wednesday against the Nets, inserting Jason Maxiell into the starting lineup and benching Ben Wallace. However, Frank wanted to make it clear that he wasn't blaming Wallace at all for the Pistons' struggles. "There are no magic formulas that are out there," Frank told reporters, as reported by the Detroit Free Press. "The thing is when you make a change like this, it's almost a tough thing to do because it's no reflection on what Ben did." (Updated 02/02/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Wallace played just five minutes Wednesday and recorded no stats. The Pistons needed an offensive jolt, which is why Maxiell started over the defensive-minded Wallace. The veteran is at the end of his career and is trying his best to keep an NBA job. But if Wallace isn't producing for Fantasy owners, then leave him out of active lineups. (Updated 02/02/2012).
01/25/2012 10:02 Waiver Wire: Biyombo climbing the ranks
As Week 6 of the Fantasy basketball season approaches, the holes on your team start to become even more glaring. Ed Gauna takes a stroll through the waiver wire and points out the gems you might be missing.
Ben Wallace has one more year left on his contract, which will probably be his last season in the NBA. Coming off a year in which he averaged just 6.5 rebounds to go with 2.9 points per game, his days as a useful Fantasy option have long since ended. He did average 8.7 rebounds per game just two seasons ago, but seems unlikely to repeat that level of rebounding as long as Greg Monroe is healthy this season. As a result, he should be left on the waiver wire in Fantasy leagues this season, though he can still be relied upon for about a block per game if you need some help in deeper category leagues in that area.
