Kings forward Rudy Gay scores 24 points in losing effort Sunday

(3/1/2015) Kings small forward Rudy Gay scored 24 points on 10 of 22 shooting from the field in Sacramento's 110-99 loss to the Trail Blazers Sunday. It was Gay's third game in his last five scoring at least 20 points. He added eight rebounds and one assist to his totals.

He and the Kings will look to bounce back Tuesday against the Knicks.

Gay shot 12-20 from the field, including 1-5 from beyond the arc. He sunk three of his five free throws. Gay made sure to contribute in other areas as well. He added six assists and had five rebounds during the contest. 


Kings' Karl: Rudy Gay to play more power forward

(2/18/2015) Kings coach George Karl said Wednesday that Rudy Gay will see more time at the power forward position over the team's final 30 games, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Gay, who has typically manned the small-forward position, may now split time between both forward positions. The alignment should allow the Kings to find more minutes for Omri Casspi and Nik Stauskas, provided the latter is still on the team after the trade deadline.

Gay has averaged 19.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in 48 games during his first full season with the Kings.

Gay shot 10-18 from the field, including 1-4 from beyond the arc. He sunk three of his five free throws, leading the team with 24 points. Gay came into the game questionable due to a foot injury, but did not seem restricted during the contest. He also added seven rebounds and five assists.

(2/10/2015) Kings guard Darren Collison will sit out Tuesday night's game in Chicago with hip flexor strain, reports KXTV ABC-TV. Rudy Gay was labeled questionable for the game with a sore left foot.

Collison will now have missed three consecutive games due to the ailment. He is averaging 16.1 points and 5.6 assists in 45 games this season. Ramon Sessions will likely get the start at point guard while he remains sidelined.

(2/8/2015) Kings guard Rudy Gay has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Suns, according to the Sacramento Bee

Gay is dealing with a sore left foot. Gay dealt with shoulder and knee issues earlier in the season, but the foot issue seems to be a new injury. He scored just four points on Saturday against the Jazz.

Gay is averaging 19.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

(2/7/2015) Kings small forward Rudy Gay scord just four points on 1 of 8 shooting in his team's 102-90 loss to the Jazz Saturday.

Gay played 29 minutes in the loss, marking the first time he's played at least 25 minutes in a game without scoring more than four points since Jan. 30, 2012. He also chipped in one assist, one rebound and one block Saturday. The Kings will square off with the Suns Sunday.

Gay avenged his scoress, 13-minute appearance against the Warriors on Jan. 23, putting up his fourth straight games with at least 20 points in the team's blowout loss Tuesday. He also chipped in three rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes. The Kings will match up with the Mavericks Thursday.

(1/31/2015) Kings small forward Rudy Gay scored a team-high 31 points on 10 of 22 shooting from the field and 11 of 11 shooting from the free-throw line in his team's 99-94 win over the Pacers Saturday.

Gay played a whopping 44 minutes in the win as the Kings went primarily with a six-man rotation, allowing him to deliver his highest point total since dropping 40 on the Blazers in the second game of the season. He also kicked in five rebounds, three assists and one block in the win. The Kings will square off with the Warriors Tuesday.

It was Gay's sixth and seventh technicals of the season. He finished with zero points on 0 for 5 shooting with four assists and three rebounds in Friday's game.


Cousins, Gay among Kings probables vs. Nets

(1/20/2015) The Kings have listed center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle), point guard Ramon Sessions (back) and small forwards Rudy Gay (shoulder, knee) and Omri Casspi (eye, knee) as probable for Wednesday's home game against the Nets.

Cousins returned to action Sunday after missing one game due to a right ankle sprain and played 38 minutes while scoring 22 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Sessions has been sidelined since Dec. 22 due to a lower back sprain and was listed as probable to play Monday before sitting out.

Gay was able to play Friday and Sunday after missing Thursday's game, but he's still suffering from a left shoulder strain and a left knee capsule sprain. Casspi has seen limited action in each of the last three games and is dealing with an eye abrasion and left knee bone contusion.

The Kings also ruled power forward Carl Landry out for Wednesday's game due to a right wrist sprain. It'll be his fourth consecutive game missed.

Sacramento is a 5-point favorite at home against Brooklyn.

Gay is dealing with a left shoulder and left knee sprain. He was initially ruled questionable due to the injuries, but has apparently made progress. Gay was expected to sit out on Saturday due to his ailments, but he wound up playing. He's averaging 20.4 points per game.

Gay is dealing with both a left knee capsule sprain and left shoulder sprain. It was thought that Gay would sit out on Saturday due to his injuries, but he was able to come off the bench and play. Gay is still dinged, and it's unclear if he'll be able to go on Monday.

The Kings take a three-game losing streak into Monday's matchup with the Blazers.

Gay appears to have escaped major injury after suffering the knee sprain Tuesday, and he's considered day-to-day moving forward. The Kings have two days off before hosting the Heat Friday.
