Kings' George Karl indicates he could sit Cousins, Gay to rest

(3/29/2015) Kings coach George Karl said Sunday he may rest some players to help experiment with various lineups, reports The Sacramento Bee.

Karl said he spoke with center DeMarcus Cousins and forward Rudy Gay about sitting a couple of games in order to rest. Cousins has been bothered by a variety of injuries, while Gay has been dealing with a knee issue.

(3/25/2015) The Kings listed Rudy Gay (left patellar tendon strain) and DeMarcus Cousins (sore right foot, right calf strain) as probable for Wednesday's clash against the Suns, according to the team's official website.

Gay is averaging 21.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season. Cousins is averaging 23.8 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game this season.

Sacramento is an 8-point underdog at Phoenix, per VegasInsider.com.

(3/22/2015) Kings forward Rudy Gay continues to show signs of being over his knee issue when he scored 26 points during Sunday's 109-86 victory over the Wizards.

Gay shot 10 of 19 from the field, including 2 of 5 from the 3-point line. He also added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Gay had been dealing with a knee issue, which caused him to miss two games earlier this month.

Gay has been dealing with a knee issue, but he has played 37 minutes in each of the last two games.

(3/21/2015) Kings forward Rudy Gay scored 33 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field in Friday night's 101-91 win over the Hornets. 

This is the first time since March 6 that Gay scored 30 in a single game. Gay also totaled 10 rebounds, giving him his first double-double since December and his third for the 2014-15 season. 

Gay posted four assists in the win as well. He played a full 48 minutes in the game.

(3/11/2015) Kings forward Rudy Gay scored 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting in Wednesday night's 113-106 win over the Hornets. 

Gay made two of his three three-point attempts during the game. This is the fourth game in a row that Gay has scored over 20 points. Gay hit six of his eight free-throw attempts. He also had three rebounds and one assist. 

Guard Ben McLemore led the Kings with 27 points and center DeMarcus Cousins had 20 points and 14 rebounds.

(2/18/2015) Kings coach George Karl said Wednesday that Rudy Gay will see more time at the power forward position over the team's final 30 games, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Gay, who has typically manned the small-forward position, may now split time between both forward positions. The alignment should allow the Kings to find more minutes for Omri Casspi and Nik Stauskas, provided the latter is still on the team after the trade deadline.

Gay has averaged 19.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in 48 games during his first full season with the Kings.
