(12/19/2014) Kings small forward Rudy Gay scored 20 points on 9 of 15 shooting in his team's 108-107 loss to the Bucks Thursday.

Gay was listed as probable to play Thursday due to Achilles tendinitis and logged 39 minutes in the game, just missing a double-double while picking up nine rebounds, six assists and one steal in the loss. The Kings are riding five straight losses into Sunday's matchup with the Lakers.

(12/17/2014) The Kings released the injury report for Thursday's game against the Bucks, with small forward Rudy Gay being listed as probable with right Achilles tendinitis. Gay is averaging a career-best 21.2 points along with 6.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 23 games.

Center DeMarcus Cousins is questionable to play against the Bucks. He has been sidelined since Nov. 26 while dealing with viral meningitis.

Power forward Reggie Evans is listed as questionable to play with a left knee/hip contusion. Small forward Omri Casspi is dealing with a knee injury and is doubtful to play Thursday.

(12/14/2014) Kings small forward Rudy Gay scored a team-high 20 points on just 6 of 22 shooting, including 4 of 7 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 95-90 loss to the Pistons Saturday.

Gay struggled with his shot for the second straight game after making just 22.2 percent of his 18 shots Thursday but was able to sink a season-high four three-pointers while matching Thursday's eight rebounds and eight assists Saturday. The Kings take a three-game losing streak into Tuesday's matchup against the Thunder.

(12/6/2014) Kings small forward Rudy Gay scored a team-high 27 points on 10 of 20 shooting in his team's 102-101 overtime win over the Pacers Friday.

Gay attempted a game-winning shot with the Kings down one point and only seconds to go that didn't fall in, but teammate Carl Landry cleaned it up with the offensive rebound and putback to put his team up one point with less than a second remaining. The Pacers' last-ditch effort came up short, allowing the Kings to snap a three-game losing streak.

Gay kicked in five rebounds and five assists in his 30 minutes of action, making his only three-point shot as well as all six of his free-throw attempts. The 10 made shots were his most since the second game of the season. Gay is set to square off with the Magic Satuday.

(11/25/2014) Kings coach Michael Malone said Tuesday that small forward Rudy Gay could receive a few days of rest this week, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Gay has already been ruled out for Tuesday's game in New Orleans with right Achilles tendinitis, and the Kings travel to Houston Wednesday and San Antonio Friday. The Kings "remain hopful" that Gay will be able to play Friday, Yahoo! Sports reports. He has averagd 21.1 points on 44.9 percent shooting in 13 games.

(11/19/2014) The Kings announced Wednesday they signed forward Rudy Gay to a multi-year contract extension. Terms of the agreement were not officially released, but it's been reported Gay agreed to a three-year, $40 million contract extension.

"I am very excited to announce that Rudy Gay will be a part of the Kings for the long term," Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé said. "He is an immensely talented player who is critical to our team on and off the court, and he is a significant reason why things are changing in Sacramento. Players as talented as Rudy have their choice on where to play. He is committed to making the Kings great again and we are committed to his success. I am looking forward to seeing a sea of No. 8 jerseys filling the seats of the new arena."

Gay, who is in his ninth NBA season, is one of only 18 players in NBA history to amass at least 10,000 points, 3,400 rebounds, 1,200 assists and 800 steals before turning 29 years old, joining the likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.

"I feel blessed to be in this situation," Gay said. "I’m grateful for the confidence the Kings have shown in my abilities and appreciate the way Sacramento and its passionate fans have embraced me and my family from day one. Report: Kings, Rudy Gay agree on $40 million extension

(11/16/2014) The Kings and guard Rudy Gay have agreed on a three-year, $40 million contract extension, according to Yahoo!

Gay has one year left on his current contract, and is set to make $19.3 million next season. His extension won't kick in until the 2015-2016 season. There's also a player option for the 2017-2018 season. If Gay opts out of the deal, he would hit the market at age-31. The two sides have worked on a deal for a few days now, but reportedly reached the agreement Saturday. The team has yet to officially announce the extension. Gay is averaging 22.5 points per game.

Gay was initially deemed questionable to play Sunday due to an illness but was upgraded to probable before tipoff. He responded by recording his first double-double of the season while also racking up six assists and two steals in 38 minutes. The loss ends a five-game winning streak, but the Kings will look to start another Tuesday against the Mavericks.

Gay hit 13 of his 19 shots from the field. He added three buckets from beyond the arc, and hit 11 free throws. Gay also had eight rebounds during the contest. He led all scorers, dropping 40 points on the Trail Blazers.
