News: The Rockets announced on Sunday that guard Earl Boykins will be spending the rest of the season with them, as they have signed him through the season's final 11 days. This news comes on the final day of Boykins' previous 10-day contract.
Analysis: Boykins has appeared in six games this season, however he has been inactive for each of the last four as Kyle Lowry has been able to return from a bacterial infection. Boykins has no Fantasy value in his current role. `
News: The Rockets have agreed to another 10-day contract with guard Earl Boykins, which will keep him in Houston until at least the middle of April, at which point Kyle Lowry should be able to return from a bacterial infection.
Analysis: Boykins has been used as a backup in his time with the team, averaging 6.4 points and 3.0 assists in five games with the team this season. He will be with the team for at least the next week and a half, however he has very little Fantasy value in his current role.
News: Rockets guard Earl Boykins has played in five games since signing a 10-day contract with the Rockets last week, and he had arguably his finest on Monday against the Bulls, as he put up nine points on 4 of 8 shooting along with three rebounds and three assists as the Rockets defeated Chicago, 99-93.
Analysis: Boykins has been used mostly as the teams backup at the point guard position, so he is averaging around 16 minutes per game, with 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. His status for the rest of the season is unknown, as the Rockets could release him soon, so dont expect him to be a Fantasy contributor moving forward.
News: The Rockets signed guard Earl Boykins to a 10-day contract on Monday, reports NBCSports.com.
Analysis: Boykins shouldn't get too much run for the Rockets at this point in his career. We wouldn't waste any roster space in Fantasy on him just yet.
News: The Bucks started Brandon Jennings on Wednesday against the Suns but limited him to his pre-determined 24 minutes. With Keyon Dooling missing the game due to an illness, that meant more time for Earl Boykins. Boykins played 23 minutes in the game and went 5 of 11 from the field to score 14 points. He was a spark for the Bucks and he added four assists and two steals.
Analysis: Boykins had not even been active for the previous two games. He's a streaky shooter and when Milwaukee gives him minutes, he can fill up a stat sheet. That said, he doesn't play often enough or enough minutes to matter outside the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The Bucks were without John Salmons on Wednesday and still managed to take down the Washington Wizards thanks to the help of Earl Boykins. Boykins, who is now fourth in games played in NBA history among players standing 5 foot 9 or shorter, scored 19 points on 5 of 10 shooting over 31 minutes. He went 2 for 2 on 3-point attempts and added four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Boykins played 31 minutes after playing just 15 in the previous game at Houston.
Analysis: Boykins gives the Bucks exactly what they ask of him. Nothing more, nothing less. When he's needed to pass, he does. When he has to score, he can do that too. Unfortunately, he's far too inconsistent for everyday Fantasy use. Unless somebody is injured -- as Salmons was on Wednesday -- Boykins will have minimal Fantasy value.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins dished out a season-high 11 assists on Friday against the 76ers. He scored eight points on a 3-for-11 shooting effort -- going 1 for 4 from downtown. Boykins added three steals and four rebounds in his 31 minutes of action off the bench. Milwaukee would come up short against Philadelphia, losing the game 95-94. Boykins had a chance to win the game for the Bucks, but he missed a 3-point attempt as time expired.
Analysis: Friday's effort was the first time in five games that Boykins didn't reach double figures. Over his last few outings, Boykins is averaging 12.6 points, 5.0 assists and 2.6 rebounds per contest. Boykins has been out performing Keyon Dooling, who has been starting for Brandon Jennings while he's out of action. Once Jennings returns, both guards will go back to backup roles, but whoever performs better until then will likely get the primary backup spot. Keep an eye on this situation, but for the most part Boykins is just a low-end guard in the deepest of category-based Fantasy leagues.
News: Milwaukee guard Earl Boykins has been playing well since returning from his one-game suspension for "making intentional contact with a game official." He shot 5 fro 11 from the field -- missing both 3-point attempts -- and nailing all four of his foul shots on Friday against Miami. One of his shots came late in regulation and sent the game into overtime. Boykins would log 27 minutes in the game, finishing with 14 points, four assists and two rebounds. The Heat would go on to win the game, 101-95.
Analysis: Boykins is averaging 14.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.8 boards over his last four games. He's logging 25 minutes over that span too, so he's still getting quality minutes while Brandon Jennings is out of action. Once Jennings is healthy enough to take the court, Boykins role will be diminished. Consider him a low-end guard option in the deepest of category-based Fantasy leagues.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins scored a season-high 26 points on Saturday against the Mavericks. He was coming off a one-game suspension for "making intentional contact with a game official," in Monday's game against the Hawks. Boykins coming back lifted the Bucks over the injury-plagued Mavericks, 99-87. Boykins shot 9 for 16 from the field -- going 1 for 5 from downtown -- and converting 7 of his 8 foul shots. The veteran would add a team-high six assists off the bench and grab three rebounds.
Analysis: Boykins didn't start, but helped fill the void left by the injured Brandon Jennings. Over his last four games, Boykins is averaging 20.0 points, 2.8 assists and 2.0 boards per contest. He's also hitting at least one 3-pointer per game. While Jennings is out, Fantasy owners can feel free to use Boykins as a short-term solution. Once Jennings comes back, Boykins will only be worth owning in the deepest of category-based formats.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins has been suspended for one game for "making intentional contact with a game official," in Monday's game against the Hawks. "It's unfortunate," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "He didn't mean it; it was kind of incidental contact. But on the other hand, the league's very clear about that and I understand it. It's one of those unfortunate things." Boykins was issued a technical foul, but not ejected after bumping Brian Forte with 5.3 seconds left in the third quarter of the Bucks' 95-80 home loss to Atlanta. He is eligible to return for Saturday's game against the Mavericks.
Analysis: Boykins got a little heated in Monday night's contest and made contact with one of the officials receiving his first ever technical foul. He has been seeing increased playing time of late with Brandon Jennings sidelined with a foot injury. Boykins is averaging 15.0 points and 2.0 assists over his last four contests and can be considered a low-end Fantasy guard, as long as he continues to see decent minutes.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins has been suspended for one game for "making intentional contact with a game official," in Monday's game against the Hawks. Boykins is eligible to return for Saturday's game against the Mavericks.

News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins played 26 minutes off the bench on Tuesday night as Milwaukee was in Los Angeles without the services of Brandon Jennings. The Bucks started Keyon Dooling in Jennings' place but it was Boykins who helped them pull off the improbable road victory. Boykins scored a team-high 22 points in the 98-79 blowout win in Staples Center. He shot 8 of 12 from the field and went 4 for 5 from 3-point range with three rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Dooling struggled in his opportunity to start but should continue to be given the chance for at least a few more games. Still, Boykins played well on Tuesday and the Bucks pulled the improbable win. That counts for something so Fantasy owners might want to monitor this situation.
News: Bucks G Earl Boykins has gotten some decent playing time in his team's last two games, playing 21 minutes on Nov. 9 against the Knicks and 19 minutes on Nov. 10 at Atlanta. In those games, he put up some decent low-end stat lines. He scored 10 points with three assists and two steals against the Knicks and followed that with eight assists, seven points, two rebounds and an assist in Atlanta.
Analysis: Boykins had seen some DNP-CD's prior to those two games, but it would appear he's back in the rotation. He is not likely to be in line for huge playing time at any point this season while Brandon Jennings remains healthy, but could be a viable option in deep, deep leagues if he continues to see around 20 minutes per game.
News: After sitting out Friday's game with an illness, Washington G Earl Boykins was able to go on Sunday against the Lakers but remained on the bench the entire game.
Analysis: Boykins' role remains minimal, and he is not going to carry any Fantasy appeal going forward. He is a player to keep off active Fantasy rosters.
News: Wizards G Earl Boykins did not play in Friday's contest against Portland because of a viral illness. He is expected to rejoin the team in Los Angeles for their contest against the Lakers.
Analysis: Boykins is averaging just 12.7 minutes per game over the last five games and has not played in two of them. His role remains minimal and he is not going to carry any Fantasy appeal going forward. He is a player to keep off active Fantasy rosters.
News: According to The Washington Post, Wizards G Earl Boykins did not travel with the team to Portland due to a virus. He stayed behind in Denver and will join the team in Los Angeles prior to Sunday's game.
Analysis: Boykins is averaging just 12.7 minuets per game over the last five games and has not played in two of them. His role remains minimal and he is not going to carry any Fantasy appeal going forward. He is a player to keep off active Fantasy rosters.
News: Washington G Earl Boykins scored 12 points in a loss to the Bucks on Friday. Boykins shot 5 of 7 from the field while adding a rebound in 20 minutes. It was the first time in his last five games that Boykins has scored in double figures
Analysis: Boykins is averaging just 7.8 points over his last five contests to go along with 2.4 assists. He has minimal Fantasy value and just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Wizards PG Earl Boykins played well on Monday and scored in double figures for the second time in three games against the Celtics. Boykins shot 5 for 9 from the field to score 14 points as he was pretty much the Wizards' offense in the fourth quarter. Boykins added three assists.
Analysis: Boykins is averaging almost 21 minutes per game over his last five and is seeing an increase in time on the floor. He's scoring eight points per game with that increase over his last five and that comes with 1.6 assists. Because he does little else but score, Boykins only has low-end Fantasy appeal.
News: Wizards G Earl Boykins hit a jumper with 0.4 to play and Washington defeated the New Jersey Nets 81-79 on Friday night. The 5-foot-5 guard came off the bench, scored a team-high 15 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the field and grabbed five rebounds. His biggest shot, of course, was his last, which came 12.6 seconds after Brook Lopez tied the game at 79 for New Jersey with a layup with 13 seconds to go.
Analysis: Boykins has averaged 7.4 points per game and 1.6 rebounds over his last five games and may be called upon to help chip in more points with the suspension of Gilbert Arenas. If Boykins can come close to having games like Friday, he will make a viable stopgap in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Wizards PG Earl Boykins shrugged off a heel injury to play 19 minutes against the Lakers on Tuesday. He scored two points, grabbed one rebound and dished four assists.
Analysis: Boykins' minutes have gone down in January to a season-low 15.3 a game since the New Year. With reduced minutes has come reduced numbers, and averages of 6.1 points, 0.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 14 games this month. He should be owned only in the deepest of formats as a possible stopgap.
News: Wizards G Earl Boykins is doubtful for Tuesday night's game against the Washington Wizards with a left heel injury, according to The Washington Post. Boykins played just four minutes in the team's last game Sunday against the Clippers.
Analysis: Boykins has been getting around 15-20 minutes off the bench most nights for the Wizards. He will chip in 10 points here and there and will have a few assists per night, but is not a viable Fantasy option in most formats -- especially at less than 100 percent health.
News: Washington PG Earl Boykins scored eight points on Friday in a loss at Chicago. The diminutive Boykins shot 4 for 5 from the field and added two assists.
Analysis: Boykins saw just 11 minutes of action on Friday and simply doesn't get consistent playing time for the Wizards. He is not good enough to be considered a stopgap for Gilbert Arenas. Only use Boykins in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: According to the team's official Web site, Wizards G Randy Foye will be in the starting lineup Friday night against Orlando. He will replace G Earl Boykins.
Analysis: Boykins played just 19 minutes at Cleveland and saw most of the minutes go to Randy Foye and Nick Young in the back court so his Fantasy appeal didn't get much of a boost even as a starter. At this stage in his career, the veteran fireplug would probably be better served as a source of energy off the bench as opposed to a minute-hogging point guard who will run the floor for the team over an entire game. His appeal in Fantasy remains extremely limited and he should only be owned in deeper formats as a possible stopgap.
News: According to the Washington Post, Wizards coach Flip Saunders is considering a lineup change that would move Earl Boykins back to a bench role. Boykins got the start at point guard in the first game following Gilbert Arenas' suspension.
Analysis: Boykins played just 19 minutes in that game and saw most of the minutes go to Randy Foye and Nick Young in the back court so his Fantasy appeal didn't get much of a boost even as a starter.
News: With starting PG Gilbert Arenas suspended indefinitely for bringing guns into the locker room, reserve Earl Boykins got the start Wednesday at Cleveland. He had 10 points and six assists in 19 minutes.
Analysis: Boykins was backing up Arenas and putting up decent numbers in about 20 minutes per game. He could see a big increase in assists during Arenas' suspension, which might last a while. Boykins probably won't score enough to serve as more than a No. 4 Fantasy guard, but he's worth a flier if you need help at the position.
News: NBA commissioner David Stern has indefinitely suspended Gilbert Arenas, saying the Washington Wizards guard is "not currently fit to take the court" for a game. Stern said in a statement Wednesday that Arenas' actions will "ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse." Because Arenas violated NBA rules by bringing guns into Washington's locker room, Stern decided to punish Arenas now. He says the suspension begins immediately. Stern says he originally planned to wait for the criminal investigation to be completed before taking action, and directed the Wizards to do the same. The Wizards are in agreement with Stern. "We fully endorse the decision of the NBA to indefinitely suspend Gilbert Arenas," team president Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement.
Analysis: The Wizards have used Earl Boykins as the No. 2 point guard behind Arenas, and Randy Foye, a former point guard in Minnesota, can also see time at that spot. Don't run out and grab these guys immediately until coach Flip Saunders addresses the position and gives an indication what the Wizards are going to do, but Boykins and Foye should see a boost in production. In his past five games, Boykins is avergaing 2.4 points and 3.4 assists in 16 minutes per game. Foye is averaging 9.4 points and 1.4 assists in 23.2 minutes per game over that same span.
News: Wizards PG Earl Boykins, who had a total of 11 points over his previous four games, scored 18 in 26 minutes off the bench Tuesday against the 76ers. He also had two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Analysis: Boykins has scored 18 or more points three times this season, so he plays this way often enough to have an impact in deeper Fantasy leagues. Still, he's too inconsistent to matter in standard 10- or 12-team leagues. You can leave him on waivers in the vast majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Wizards reserve PG Earl Boykins scored 11 of his 13 points in the final 10 minutes to lead his team to a 104-102 victory over the visiting Bucks on Wednesday. He also had four assists in his 20 minutes off the bench. "It just has to do with being patient," Boykins said. "A lot of times, especially at the end of games, guys rush. And if you're able to be patient you're able to get things done." Boykins had a hand in Washington's final eight points. A fade-away jump shot with 1:39 pulled the Wizards to 99-98. On the next possession, Boykins found a rolling Brendan Haywood, who finished the play with a dunk to give Washington (7-10) the lead. Boykins then hit four straight free throws in the final 17 seconds to finish it off. On the final possession, he came off a double screen before being fouled by Brandon Jennings on a jumper.
Analysis: Boykins had the kind of scrappy performance the Wizards expected from him when they signed him. "He was being Earl. Making big plays, running the team well," said teammate Nick Young. "He's out there being a mini mouse, just doing his job." Unfortunately, those kinds of performance rarely have the same impact in the box score. Boykins is averaging right at 10 points per game, so you could do worse if you get desperate for assists. But he's just a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: Washington PG Earl Boykins, playing in his third game of the season on Friday since being signed by the Wizards to deal with injury issues on their roster, scored 11 points in 17 minutes off the bench. He shot 5 of 7 from the field and added two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Boykins has scored in double figures in two of his three games played and is averaging 13.3 points and 2.7 assists. He looks like a decent pick up off waivers but only in the deepest of Fantasy leagues at the moment.
News: The Washington Wizards have signed free-agent guard Earl Boykins after a series of injuries at that position and waived center Paul Davis. Boykins has averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 assists in 10 NBA seasons with eight teams. He played in Italy last season.
Analysis: Wizards guard Randy Foye sprained his right ankle during Tuesday's loss to Miami, causing the team to add some depth at guard. We don't expect Boykins to have any Fantasy appeal outside of the deepest of leagues. Even in those formats, you are probably reaching.
News: NBA veteran Earl Boykins has signed a one-year contract with Virtus Bologna of Italy. The deal is reported to be worth $3.5 million, making Boykins the highest-paid player in Italy.
Analysis: Boykins is the ninth player since free agency began on July 1st to bolt from the NBA to Europe for more money. Now in Italy, Boykins has no appeal in NBA Fantasy hoops leagues.
News:Earl Boykins became an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2007-08 regular season. He appeared in 36 games after being signed by the Bobcats in late January.
Analysis: Boykins was not a factor at all for the Bobcats this season and saw a streak of five straight seasons averaging in double figures end. Depending on where he lands in the offseason, he could have a bounce back year if he were to be used in a sixth-man type role off the bench. Fantasy owners can look to him as a sleeper in the late rounds if that's the case.
News: Bobcats G Earl Boykins has scored in double figures just once in his last eight games. That came in one of the two games during that span in which he saw 20 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Boykins has averaged just 15.2 minutes in the month of March and is not line to see an increase in playing time down the stretch. Leave "The Squirrel" on the waiver wire.
News: According to the Charlotte Observer, Sam Vincent said cutting Jeff McInnis last week wouldn't automatically increase minutes for reserve point guard Earl Boykins. He shot well against Golden State (5-of-7, 13 points), and that translated into 19 minutes, about five more than usual. Vincent thinks Boykins isn't all the way back from missing the first 50 games, waiting to be signed. "He's getting close," Vincent said. "I know what Earl Boykins can do when his legs are completely there and he's completely confident."
Analysis: Don't plan on using Boykins any time soon. He has started to play well, but keep an eye on his outings before putting him in your lineup.
News: Bobcats G Earl Boykins was a worthy experiment, but it's not working. He was 0-of-3 against the Lakers with no assists Monday. He's shooting 30 percent since joining the Bobcats.
Analysis: Don't plan on using Boykins any time soon. He may start playing well after the All-Star break, but keep an eye on his outings before putting him in your lineup.
News: Bobcats guard Earl Boykins went for nine points Monday against the Suns. He played 17 minutes off the bench and hit 2-of-5 shots from the field and 4-of-5 shots from the foul line.
Analysis: Boykins is still getting used to playing with the Bobcats. For now, consider him a low-end Fantasy option until he starts playing like the guard we've seen the past few years.
News: The Bobcats are once again shifting their rotation after acquiring free-agent point guard Earl Boykins last week. According to the Charlotte Observer, the team has decided to move Raymond Felton back to the point guard slot with Earl Boykins coming off the bench as a backup. Jeff McInnis, who had been starting, is now stuck in the third-string role.
Analysis: McInnis loses all Fantasy appeal once again and Boykins becomes a player worth taking a flier on in deeper formats if he earns a sixth-man role. While playing point guard, Fantasy owners should expect Felton's assist totals to rise and he'll also get more shot attempts with more control of the flow of play.
News: Bobcats G Jeff McInnis remained in the starting lineup for Friday's game at Golden State despite the arrival of Earl Boykins. Boykins looked rusty, shooting just 2-for-11 from the field in 23 minuts off the bench. He finished with five points, three assists and three turnovers.
Analysis: McInnis took only four shots in the game, but Boykins didn't look too good in his first game he played all season. But you have to believe he'll be getting more and more of McInnis' minutes as he gets into playing shape.
News: The Charlotte Bobcats signed Earl Boykins on Thursday, adding depth at point guard. Boykins will provide help for point guards Raymond Felton and Jeff McInnis. The move comes five days after Bobcats coach Sam Vincent criticized McInnis' play after a loss to Philadelphia, when Felton sat out with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: Boykins has averaged 9.8 points and 3.4 assists in his nine previous seasons, and averaged 14 points and 4.5 assists in 35 games with the Bucks last season. His speedy play will likely fit into the running style Vincent wants in his first year as Charlotte's coach. Vincent has been starting Felton and McInnis together in a small backcourt. Derek Anderson, a true shooting guard, is the only other player with point guard experience. Look to add him now if he's available in leagues of 10-plus teams as a possible cheap, low-end Fantasy starter.
News: Earl Boykins will become a free agent, forgoing the $3 million player option on his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. Bucks general manager Larry Harris confirmed the 5-foot-5 Boykins, the second smallest player in NBA history, has given him no indication he intends to fulfill the option year. Boykins has until Saturday to notify the team if he plans to return. "Earl is going to be a free agent," Harris said.
Analysis: Boykins scored in double digits in 24 of his 35 games in Milwaukee, averaging 14 points and 4.5 assists. He twice had a career-high 36 points in a game with the Bucks. Keep an eye out to see where Boykins ends up, but he should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy guard at best in 2007.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins, who had nine points in 18 minutes Sunday against Detroit in his first game back after suffering a torn tendon in his right thumb, had 13 points as a starter against Houston on Monday night.
Analysis: Boykins could be a good stopgap option with Mo Williams dealing with an illness. Consider Boykins a low-end Fantasy option for now but continue to monitor his progress.
News: Milwaukee guard Earl Boykins returned from a sprained right thumb injury and scored nine points Sunday vs. Detroit.
Analysis: Boykins can be a useful No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard when healthy, but we recommend reserving him until his role becomes clearer.
News: Backup point guard Earl Boykins said he'll have his right thumb re-evaluated Wednesday. Boykins, who tore a tendon in his thumb, believes he'll be cleared to play at that time.
Analysis: Boykins can be a useful No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard when healthy, but we recommend reserving him until his role becomes clear upon his return.
News: According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Earl Boykins (thumb) could return within the next two weeks.
Analysis: Boykins can be a useful No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard when healthy, but we recommend reserving him until his role becomes clear upon his return.
News: According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Bucks G Earl Boykins is expected to miss at least the next three weeks with torn ligaments in his right thumb. He will not undergo surgery, however, and hopes to return this season.
Analysis: Boykins came to the aid of a depleted Milwaukee Bucks backcourt in mid-January, when Mo Williams and Michael Redd were out with injuries. Those players are back in the lineup but now it's Boykins' turn to be sidelined. Boykins, acquired in a Jan. 11 trade with the Denver Nuggets, was looking forward to being part of a perimeter rotation including Charlie Bell, Redd and Williams. Now that will have to wait, and Stotts will tweak his rotation by finding some playing time for rookie point guard Lynn Greer. Keep Boykins in larger leagues and hope for a quick return. Greer won't see enough minutes to start off with to warrant using as a stopgap option.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins missed his third game with right thumb sprain. Boykins will fly to Cleveland on Wednesday for another opinion on his injured right thumb. Boykins has torn ligaments, and surgery is a distinct possibility.
Analysis: Keep Boykins reserved in all daily leagues and hope he can return in time for the next scoring period. The Bucks have two games remaining this week against Toronto on Friday and Chicago on Sunday. If surgery is needed, he would have no value at all.
News: Bucks G Earl Boykins (thumb) missed his second straight game Saturday. He did not dress for the Bucks game against the 76ers.
Analysis: Boykins is listed as day to day. He could be back to start the next scoring period, but is an injury-risk start nonetheless.
News: Bucks G Earl Boykins was out Friday and is expected to miss Saturday's game against Philadelphia with an injured thumb.

News: Bucks backup point guard Earl Boykins, who had been a major scorer for the Bucks after being acquired from Denver, had four points against Indiana on Wednesday night after failing to score in the previous two games. He has shot 4-of-16 from the field in the last four games.
Analysis: It appears Boykins' days of being a significant Fantasy contributor are over. Now that Michael Redd has returned, expect Boykins to struggle finding consistent minutes. Keep him reserved unless you don't have another option.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins played Tuesday against Detroit despite needing stitches after sustaining a large gash in his right leg against Boston on Feb. 14.
Analysis: Boykins had no points, three rebounds and an assist against the Pistons. He came into the game having averaged 15.4 ppg and 4.4 apg heading into the All-Star break. Consider Boykins a No. 3 Fantasy guard at this time.
News: Bucks G Earl Boykins averaged 15.4 ppg and 4.4 apg heading into the All-Star break.
Analysis: He remains one of the best sixth men in all of the NBA and should enjoy similar success in the second half coming off the bench.
News: Bucks coach Terry Stotts stuck with Earl Boykins down the stretch against Dallas -- even though Boykins had a bad shooting night and finished just 3-for-12 from the field.
Analysis: Boykins finished with 13 points, three rebounds and four assists. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins expects to miss no time despite injuring his right thumb - and possibly suffering ligament damage - in a game Thursday night. "When the doc was talking, I wasn't listening," Boykins said when asked what the diagnosis was before Milwaukee played the Denver Nuggets. "I'm not missing a game, regardless of what the doc says, so there's really no need for me to listen." Boykins, who'll play with a splint, said he injured the right thumb in the first half of Milwaukee's 109-101 double overtime loss on Thursday night to the New Orleans Hornets when he got his hand caught in Tyson Chandler's jersey. The team officially listed Boykins' injury as a sprained right thumb, and Bucks coach Terry Stotts said the training staff was still evaluating him to determine how effective he could be handling the ball. "It could get worse," Stotts said of the injury.
Analysis: Boykins has averaged 16.1 points and 4.7 assists for Milwaukee. He is in line to lose a boat load of stats with Michael Redd nearing a return. Continue to use Boykins as a No. 3 Fantasy guard, but he should slip down to a No. 4 guard when Redd returns.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins had 24 points off the bench Tuesday against the Magic. He also added six assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: Boykins has been inconsistent since coming to Milwaukee from Denver. For now, consider him a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Backup guard Earl Boykins went 2-for-9 against Miami on Saturday and now has made only 11-of-35 shots from the field in the last five games.
Analysis: Boykins has seen his Fantasy production decrease with the return of Mo Williams and the pending return of Michael Redd will take even more shots away from him. The worst is yet to come for his Fantasy value.
News: Until Earl Boykins went 0-for-3 from three-point range against Orlando on Wednesday, he had been shooting the ball well from beyond the arc, having made nine of his last 20 attempts.
Analysis: Boykins will see a lot of PT with the Bucks. Consider him a great start in all Fantasy leagues as a No. 2 or 3 guard for now.
News: Bucks guard Earl Boykins had 11 points and five assists against the Heat on Tuesday.
Analysis: Boykins only played 31 minutes and took only seven shots, making three of them. He should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Earl Boykins went 4-of-6 from the line against the Suns on Friday. He had entered the game having made 23 consecutive free throws in the previous five games.
Analysis: Boykins ranks third in the league in free-throw percentage at .921, just behind Philadelphia's Kyle Korver (.928) and New York's Steve Francis (.925). He remains a viable stopgap Fantasy guard while Mo Williams is out with injury.
News: Earl Boykins hasn't sat on the bench much since joining the Bucks. While he played 32 minutes against Seattle Friday night, Boykins had averaged 41.6 minutes in his four previous games with the Bucks. Boykins had just four points on Friday.
Analysis: Friday was by far Boykins worst as a Buck, but be still remains a viable stopgap Fantasy guard while Mo Williams is out with injury. He is getting plenty of PT.
News: Bucks G Earl Boykins shot 9-for-16 from the floor Monday at Charlotte, finishing with 30 points. He added six boards, four assists and two steals.
Analysis: Boykins was slated to lose some playing time in Denver with J.R. Smith back on the court and Carmelo Anthony close to returning from a suspension. He was mostly dealt to Milwaukee because of salary cap reasons, but the trade could benefit Fantasy owners. With Michael Redd and Mo Williams out with injuries, Boykins will see a lot of PT with the Bucks. Consider him a great start in all Fantasy leagues as a No. 2 or 3 guard for now.
News: Earl Boykins had 11 points and 11 assists in his Bucks debut on Friday against the 76ers.
Continue to use him as a stopgap Fantasy option while the Bucks are banged up.
News: According to the Denver Post, the Nuggets traded Earl Boykins and Julius Hodge to the Milwaukee Bucks for guard Steve Blake on Thursday.
Analysis: A major reason the Nuggets made the move was to get under the NBA's $65.4 million luxury tax threshold by season's end. Boykins had excelled over the last few weeks with J.R. Smith out 10 games while serving a suspension. With Smith back and Carmelo Anthony due back on Jan. 22, he was bound to see his minutes drastically reduced. This is the best thing that could have happened to his Fantasy value -- especially with the way Milwaukee is in severe need of someone to step up in the backcourt with Mo Williams and Michael Redd both out for a considerable amount of time.
News: Nuggets guard Earl Boykins really took advantage of the 10 games in which Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith both were suspended. He scored 20 or more points in nine of them, including 26 against the Bucks on Monday.
Analysis: Consider Boykins a No. 3 Fantasy guard until Smith and Anthony are both back.
News: Nuggets PG Earl Boykins is showing no signs of slowing down. After scoring 22 Saturday against Utah, Boykins has averaged 23.4 points the past nine games, with Carmelo Anthony and guard J.R. Smith serving suspensions.
Analysis: Boykins has been a very reliable stopgap Fantasy option the past couple of weeks. However, Smith is about to return and Anthony will be back in a few weeks. Continue to use Boykins while he is on a roll, but get ready to cut bait as soon as his production takes a hit.
News: Earl Boykins is starting to find his three-point touch. Boykins is 15-for-30 from beyond the arch in his last six games, and he has scored at least 20 points in seven of his last eight games.
Analysis: Boykins continues to serve as a viable stopgap Fantasy option. However, that likely won't continue once J.R. Smith returns and certainly once Carmelo Anthony does. But you might as well take advantage of his solid play while it lasts.
News: Nuggets guard Earl Boykins had his streak of six straight 20-point games come to an end on Tuesday. He managed just 13 points Tuesday against Philadelphia.
Analysis: Boykins continues to serve as a viable stopgap Fantasy option. However, that likely won't continue once J.R. Smith returns and certainly once Carmelo Anthony does. But you might as well take advantage of his solid play while it lasts.
News: Earl Boykins continues to put up points despite being bothered by a sore right hamstring. He has scored at least 24 points in five straight games, raising his scoring average from 10.9 to 14.0.
Analysis: He took as many shots (22) as Allen Iverson did in the game. That won't continue once J.R. Smith returns and certainly once Carmelo Anthony does, but he's still a very nice option in leagues of 10-plus teams at this time as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Nuggets guard Earl Boykins was visibly frustrated during an early season slump, but his mood certainly is brightening. Boykins missed 70 of 107 shots in his first 12 games, but he is averaging 16.5 points on 44.8 percent shooting (60-of-134) in his past 11 games. He has even scored more than 25 points in three consecutive games.
Analysis: Boykins is a pretty decent stopgap Fantasy option while J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony serve their suspensions stemming from a brawl with the Knicks on Dec. 16. After that, he will go back to being the team's sixth man.
News: Nuggets guard Earl Boykins is doing what he can to pick up the offensive slack with forward Carmelo Anthony and guard J.R. Smith suspended. Boykins has averaged 27.0 points in the first two games of their suspensions for fighting, including a 25-point outburst on Friday. He also had three rebounds and nine assists.
Analysis: Boykins is a pretty decent stopgap Fantasy option while Smith and Anthony serve their suspensions. After that, he will go back to being the team's sixth man.
News: Allen Iverson was traded by the 76ers to the Denver Nuggets, a person in the National Basketball Association with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday afternoon. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the deal was not announced, did not know the terms of the deal. The trade would send Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round picks to the 76ers for Iverson and perhaps another minimum-salaried player or two.
Analysis: The Nuggets will get to fill the void created by the loss of the leading scorer in the NBA, Carmelo Anthony, with the second leading scorer in Iverson. Not too shabby. This news does put a stop to the short-lived Fantasy stardom of Yakhouba Diawara and Linas Kleiza, though, as they won't be needed to take on such an increased role with Iverson around. They will still see an increase in value while Anthony and J.R. Smith are suspended (15 games and 10 games a piece), but should only be worth a flier in larger leagues as possible stopgap options. Smith, who had been enjoying a breakout season prior to the suspensions may as well stay suspended. He becomes an expendable unit now for the Nuggets and may be traded somewhere down the line. His Fantasy owners should hope for a deal. Earl Boykins will return to his role as the team's sixth man and Marcus Camby won't be getting the offensive boost we had anticipated prior to the deal.
News: NBA scoring leader Carmelo Anthony was suspended for 15 games Monday and six other players were penalized as commissioner David Stern came down hard on both teams after the Nuggets and Knicks brawled at Madison Square Garden. J.R. Smith received a 10 game suspension as well, leaving the team without its two leading scorers.
Analysis: The team's next leading scorer is Andre Miller, who is more of a passer than a scorer. That would leave Marcus Camby to carry the brunt of the scoring load and possibly even Earl Boykins. The team could opt to promote Julius Hodge from the NBADL as a result of the fallout from the suspensions, making him an interesting option in deeper leagues.
