Afflalo has slight tear in hamstring

News: Orlando guard Arron Afflalo, who was already ruled out for the season, has a slight tear in his hamstring, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Afflalo's injury was originally reported as a strain.
Analysis: Afflalo was averaging a team-high 16.5 points per game and was taking more shots than anyone else on the roster. This will give the Magic's younger guys a shot to play more. Afflalo has no more Fantasy value remaining on the season.

News: Orlando leading scorer Arron Afflalo will miss the rest of the season after injuring his right hamstring on Friday, reports the Orlando Sentinel Saturday. Afflalo has a strained hamstring and the Magic doctors prescribed rest and physical therapy.
Analysis: Afflalo was averaging a team-high 16.5 points per game and was taking more shots than anyone else on the roster. This will give the Magic's younger guys a shot to play more. Afflalo has no more Fantasy value remaining on the season.

Afflalo leaves with hamstring issue

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo was forced to leave Friday's contest against the Thunder after injuring his right hamstring. Afflalo sustained the injury in the second quarter and had to be carried to the locker room by teammates. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game and finished with six points and three rebounds prior to leaving the contest.
Analysis: Afflalo looked to be in a great deal of pain as he left the court and we all know how tricky hamstring injuries can be. The 27-year-old was already forced to miss six consecutive games earlier in the year with a left calf issue, so hopefully this turns out to be minor thing. Afflalo entered Friday's contest averaging 16.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists, making him a viable start in the majority of formats when healthy.

Afflalo comes back to earth

News: Orlando guard Arron Afflalo was back down to earth on Tuesday in Indiana as the Magic took a loss. He scored just 10 points after back-to-back 20-point efforts. Afflalo played 33 minutes on Tuesday and shot just 3 of 13 from the field. He added three rebounds, three assists and a block in the game.
Analysis: The Magic have won just two games in Afflalo's last 11 but it isn't do to his poor effort. Afflalo has played well over that span, averaging 17.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and almost a 3-pointer per game. Fantasy owners know they have Afflalo for his ability to contribute all around and that is what he continues to do.

Afflalo still getting his numbers

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo turned in another fairly productive performance during Tuesday's contest against the Lakers. Afflalo finished with 18 points in the 107-96 defeat on 6 of 18 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 5 from downtown, but added three rebounds and two assists to his stat line, while logging 45 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Afflalo continues to pace the Magic in the scoring department most nights as he entered Tuesday's tilt averaging a career-best 16.8 points per contest. While he isn't the most efficient scorer, Afflalo has been a model of consistency for the most part this season. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with the 27-year-old as a viable option in most formats moving forward.

Afflalo has an off night

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo entered Sunday's contest against the Grizzlies shooting nearly 46 percent in his previous five contests. He was not as effective, however, as he scored 12 points on 2-of-6 shooting in the 108-82 loss. Afflalo missed all three of his attempts from beyond the arc but went a perfect 8 for 8 from the foul line. He also posted three assists and two rebounds while playing 30 minutes in the defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo had picked up his scoring of late as he entered Sunday averaging 17.2 points in the last five games. He also put up 5.4 assists and five rebounds during that stretch. The 27-year-old continues to have a career campaign in his first season in Denver and remains a viable option in the majority of Fantasy formats.

Afflalo ready to shoulder scoring load

News: With the Magic trading away swing man J.J. Redick to the Bucks at last Thursday's trade deadline, guard Arron Afflalo knows he is going to have to shoulder most of the scoring load for the remainder of the season. Affalo, who entered Tuesday's tilt at Philadelphia averaging a team-high 16.8 points per game, said he thinks the challenge will be more mental rather than physical. "Handling a bigger load, I think that's more of a mental aspect to it. It's a challenge. It's fun. But I think the load is more mental. And physically, only so much a player can do," Afflalo told the Orlando Sentinel.
Analysis: Afflalo is already putting the best offensive season of his career together this year with the Magic, but he could see his scoring increase even more over the final few weeks. Three of Orlando's top three scorers when the season first started are either hurt or have been traded away, which leaves Affalo has one of the only healthy proven scorers on the roster. He entered Tuesday tilt versus the 76ers averaging 18.8 points on 50 percent shooting from the field over his previous four games and is also giving owners 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds over that span. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Afflalo as a viable start in all formats moving forward.

Afflalo filling up the stat sheet

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo turned in another solid performance as he was able to fill up the stat sheet Friday night against the Grizzlies. Afflalo went 8 of 16 shooting from the field, including 2 of 5 from downtown, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He finished with 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds in a 88-82 defeat. He also chipped in with two blocked shots and a steal while logging 44 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Afflalo scored 20-plus points for the 15th time this season and has averaged 16.8 points 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 56.0 percent from the field in the last five games played. He continues to put up career numbers this season for the Magic as his stats are up across the board. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with the 27-year-old as a viable option in most formats moving forward.

Afflalo shooting well since return

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo entered Tuesday's contest against the Bobcats shooting 46 percent in his three games since returning from a calf injury. He had another efficient performance as he scored 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting in the 105-91 loss. He went 1 for 5 from downtown and made 7 of 8 free throws while playing 36 minutes. Afflalo also posted four rebounds, two assists and a block in the defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo has enjoyed a career campaign thus far as his stats are up across the board. He averaged 16.6 points with 3.8 rebounds and three assists through his first 46 games of the season and appears primed for a solid run down the stretch. Keep the 27-year-old active as a viable option in most Fantasy formats.

Afflalo back in a big way

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo missed the previous six games due to a strained left calf but showed no signs of the issue in his return Friday night against the Cavaliers. He scored 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting in the 119-108 loss. He went 2 for 6 from beyond the arc and made all three of his free throws while playing 36 minutes. Afflalo also posted four rebounds and three assists in the defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo entered Friday averaging a career-best 16.7 points on the year as he has become more of an offensive threat in his first season in Orlando. His calf injury appears to be a thing of the past so owners should feel free to get him active in Fantasy again. While the 27-year-old does not contribute a ton on other categories, Afflalo remains a viable option in most formats for his ability to score.

Afflalo looks to provide spark

News: After not taking the court for nearly two weeks, Magic guard Arron Afflalo is slated to return for Friday's game at Cleveland, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Afflalo has been out since Jan. 27 due to a strained left calf and also attended to a personal matter earlier this week. "I’m excited," Afflalo, the team's leading scorer, said. "I’ve had a chance to sit back and watch a little bit, get healthy, but hopefully I can come back and provide a certain spark and get things moving in a positive direction for whatever reason."
Analysis: Afflalo missed six consecutive games with the issues, but said he is no longer experiencing soreness in his calf and will look to help the Magic halt an 11-game losing streak. The 27-year-old is averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game this season as he has benefited from additional playing time with Orlando. Consider him a solid Fantasy option in most formats during his return.

Afflalo on track for Friday return

News: Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said guard Arron Afflalo has been scratched from the lineup for a sixth straight game Wednesday vs. L.A. Clippers because of a lingering calf injury. However, Vaughn said Afflalo should be ready to "rock-n-roll" Friday at Cleveland.
Analysis: It's good to see Afflalo getting back to 100 percent because he has been a breakout Fantasy option in 2012-13. Prior to getting hurt, he was averaging 88.3 Fantasy points per week over his previous eight scoring periods. He is averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game this season and remains a viable Fantasy start when healthy.

Afflalo vanishes again for Magic

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo was unable to return to the lineup for Monday's game at Philadelphia due to a lingering calf injury. Afflalo has been sidelined the past five games with a strained left calf and continues to be considered day to day.
Analysis: Afflalo is part of a hobbling backcourt for the Magic as J.J. Redick and Jameer Nelson are also nursing injuries. The 27-year-old has served as a key member of the starting lineup and is posting a career-high 16.7 points per game. Provided the opportunity for additional minutes with Orlando, Afflalo is averaging roughly 14 shots a night. Consider him a viable Fantasy option when healthy, though he's a risky start for Week 15 (Feb. 4-10).

Afflalo not ready to return

News: According to the Orlando Sentinel , Magic guard Arron Afflalo was ruled out for Saturday night's contest against the Bucks as he continues to deal with a strained left calf. Afflalo has missed the last four games and remains day to day with the injury. J.J. Redick remains the starter in Afflalo’s place.
Analysis: Afflalo continues to miss time, despite the injury not considered to be serious, so we'll have to keep an eye on his status, especially if he missed any time during Week 15 (Feb. 4-10). The Magic will play at Philadelphia Monday night, which will give the 27-year-old a few days of rest. Afflalo is averaging 16.7 points per game this season, and should be viewed as a solid Fantasy option, when healthy.

Afflalo still sitting

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo missed third game in a row Friday against the Celtics, as he continues to deal with a strained left calf. Afflalo remains day to day with the injury, and it is not clear when he will be able to play. J.J. Redick remains the starter in Afflalo’s place.
Analysis: Afflalo has missed the last three games now due to this injury, despite it not being considered serious. Fantasy owners will now have to keep an eye on Afflalo’s status through the weekend, as he may be unable to play during Fantasy Week 15 (Feb. 4-10). He is averaging 16.7 points per game this season, and remains a solid Fantasy option, when healthy.

Afflalo remains sidelined

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo was held out of Wednesday's contest against the Knicks as he continues to nurse a strained left calf. Afflalo, who also missed Orlando's loss to the Nets Monday night, is being considered day to day.
Analysis: Afflalo's injury is not being considered serious, but it has now cost him two games during the current scoring period. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he will be able to return. Afflalo is averaging a career-best 16.7 points this season and can be considered a viable start in most formats when healthy.

Afflalo's status is TBD

News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said after Wednesday's shootaround he wasn't sure whether guard Arron Afflalo, who missed Monday's game with a strained left calf, would play Wednesday at New York.
Analysis: Afflalo is averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game in 2012-13 for Orlando. His increase in scoring has resulted in Afflalo averaging 83.2 Fantasy points per week this season. In fact, he has surpassed 90 Fantasy points in three of the previous four scoring periods. He is a viable Fantasy start when healthy.

Afflalo sits with calf issue

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo was held out of Monday's contest against the nets due to a strained left calf. Afflalo, who sustained the injury in Orlando's loss to the Pistons Sunday night, is being listed as day to day. Rookie forward Maurice Harkless started in his place at small forward.
Analysis: Afflalo's injury is not being considered serious, so hopefully he will only be out for just this one game. Fantasy owners in daily formats should keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the court. Despite his most recent shooting slump, Afflalo has been putting up career numbers in Orlando and can be considered a viable start in most formats when healthy.

Afflalo nursing calf issue

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo is listed as day to day after suffering a strained left calf during the fourth quarter in Sunday's loss to Detroit, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Afflalo, who scored four points in 26 minutes before the injury, is listed as questionable for Monday's contest at Brooklyn.
Analysis: Magic coach Jacque Vaughn described the issue as "slight" so it's possible Afflalo can avoid missing any playing time. The 27-year-old hasn't been as consistent as he was last month and held to less than 45 percent shooting in each of his past five games, including a zero-point showing last Tuesday. Consider him a viable option in deeper formats as he carries some health risk in Fantasy Week 14 (Jan. 28-Feb. 3).

Afflalo bounces back

News: After being held scoreless his last time out, Magic guard Arron Afflalo bounced back with a decent performance during Thursday's contest against the Raptors. He went 6 of 16 shooting form the field, including 2 of 4 from downtown, and a perfect 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. He finished with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists while logging 42 minutes of game action in a 97-95 defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo was able to get back on track after one of his worst shooting performances of the season his last time out. Though some may black coach Jacque Vaughn's lineup change for his struggles, Afflalo has still averaged roughly over 14 points per game at forward this season. The 27-year-old is enjoying one of his best campaigns as a scorer this year and should be viewed as a viable option in the majority of Fantasy formats moving forward.

Arron Afflalo

Afflalo fails to score vs. Pistons

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo did not have one of his better offensive games during Orlando's contest against the Pistons Tuesday night. Afflalo, who made his fourth start of the year at small forward, failed to score for the first time this season in the 105-90 defeat. He missed on all four of his field-goal attempts and didn't even attempt his first shot until the third quarter. However, Afflalo did added nine rebounds, five assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 38 minutes of game action.
Analysis: The last time Afflalo was shutout came back in February of last year as he missed all five of his field-goal attempts against the Trail Blazers. However, it happened again to him Tuesday night as Afflalo was unusually passive during his start at small forward. He didn't seem to be looking for his shot at all in the first half and then seemed out of rhythm when he tried to flip the switch in the second half. While some will blame coach Jacque Vaughn's lineup change for his struggles, Afflalo has averaged 14.2 points in his other starts at forward this year. Just chalk it up as one of those nights for the 27-year-old, who is still averaging a career-best 17.4 points per game this season. Despite his latest performance, Afflalo should remain active in the majority of formats moving forward.

Afflalo picking it up from 3

News: Orlando guard Arron Afflalo struggled from the field on Sunday against Dallas but continued to do a decent job from beyond the arc. He scored 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting in the 111-105 loss. He went 1 for 2 from downtown and made 5 of 6 free throws. Afflalo also posted six rebounds and three assists while playing 39 minutes in the defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo is shooting 40 percent from 3-point land in the previous five games and is averaging 17.2 points with 4.8 rebounds and four assists during that stretch. He has increased his scoring in each of his first six seasons in the NBA and is on pace for a career campaign thus far. While his shooting percentages have been down slightly, Afflalo remains a viable option in the majority of Fantasy formats heading into Week 13 (Jan. 21-27).

Afflalo goes off vs.Clippers

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo turned in another stellar performance as he drained three 3-pointers and filled up the stat sheer during Saturday's contest against the Clippers. Afflalo scored 30 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists in a 104-101 victory. He went 10 of 19 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3 for 3 from downtown, and converted 7 of 8 free throw attempts on the afternoon. He also chipped in with a steal while logging 40 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Afflalo has been on a roll as of late, scoring 20-plus points in seven of the last 11 games played. He is averaging 22 points, 3.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 48.3 percent from the field over that span. Afflalo continues to progress as a Fantasy option and is on pace for the best campaign of his career. Fantasy owners should consider him as a viable Fantasy starter in most formats heading into Week 12 (Jan. 14-20).

Afflalo shooting the lights out

News: Orlando guard Arron Afflalo scored 20-plus points for the sixth time in his last nine games on Monday against Portland. He finished with 24 points and hauled in five rebounds in the 125-119 overtime loss. He went 9 for 18 from the field, including 1 for 4 from downtown, and converted 5 of 6 free throws. Afflalo also posted three assists while playing 47 minutes in the defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo continues to progress as a Fantasy option and is on pace for the best campaign of his career. He is averaging 22.8 points with 3.8 assists in the last five contests while shooting 51 percent during that stretch. The Magic will continue to rely on his scoring while Glen Davis is out so continue to view Afflalo as a viable option in the majority of formats, especially while he's producing like this.

Afflalo still scoring for Orlando

News: Magic guard Arron Afflalo continued his recent productive ways on Wednesday against the Bulls. He scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting in the 96-94 loss. He went 2 for 4 from beyond the arc and converted 3 of 4 free throws while playing 41 minutes. Afflalo also posted three assists and a rebound in the defeat.
Analysis: Afflalo is averaging 20.2 points with 3.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds in the last five games and is shooting 44 percent over that span. He is having a career campaign scoring-wise even though his shooting percent has taken a hit from downtown. The 27-year-old continues to progress as a Fantasy option and should be considered a low-end guard in most formats at this point.
