News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks should start getting another look in the rotation going forward, reports the Houston Chronicle Wednesday. Brooks said that practice reps have been split between himself, Patrick Beverley and Jeremy Lin.
Analysis: This should be a case of we'll believe it when we see it actually happen. Brooks has been out of the rotation for virtually all season and is averaging just under eight points and 2.3 assists per game. Things could change for him in a hurry, but he remains a low-end option in all leagues until we see that for real.
News: After signing with Houston earlier in the month, Aaron Brooks made his debut with the Rockets on Wednesday against the Suns. He played five minutes and scored 3 points on 1-for-1 shooting in the 111-81 win.
Analysis: Brooks was drafted by the Rockets and played for them from 2007-10 but is not expected to see a ton of playing time down the stretch. That being the case, continue to ignore the 28-year-old in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that newly-signed point guard Aaron Brooks is not expected to be part of the rotation right away. Coach Kevin McHale said that Brooks, who didnt play in Wednedays loss to the Mavericks, is valuable as insurance in case of injury at point guard or specific situations. He has had one practice, so I think well wait a little bit before we make a lot of determinations about exactly how we can get him in the lineup, McHale said. In all reality, with 20, 21 games to go, it will be more situational. Well see. For Aarons sake, (with) a couple practices he might get at least a little familiar with what were doing. We run a different offense. We dont run standard NBA sets. We play a lot different. Hes looking at our offense like, Let me figure this out. I told them coming in, Get in good shape, get as comfortable as you can, and well see what the situations are.
Analysis: Brooks was waived by Sacramento on Friday after averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 assists in 46 games with the Kings. Keep an eye on his role with the Rockets, but he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: As expected, the Rockets signed guard Aaron Brooks on Monday the team announced. Brooks was waived by Sacramento on Friday after averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 assists in 46 games with the Kings.
Analysis: Brooks' most consistent seasons came when he was in Houston, including when he put up 19.6 points and 5.3 assists back in the 2009-10 campaign. However, it remains uncertain exactly how many minutes he will see under coach Kevin McHale with Jeremy Lin and Patrick Beverley playing so well. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach with the 28-year-old for the time being. If Brooks starts to see consistent minutes, he could be a nice add off the waiver wire down the stretch.
News: CBS Sports 1140, the local radio affiliate in Sacramento reported that the Kings have waived guard Aaron Brooks, just ahead of he deadline for players to be released from their contracts in order to be eligible for the playoffs if they sign with another team. According to Yahoo! Brooks will likely sign with the Rockets. Brooks appeared in 46 games for the Kings, averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field.
Analysis: Brooks has some skills, and it will not be a surprise when he latches on with a contender for the stretch run. Unfortunately for his Fantasy value, there is little chance that he will be able to land a starting gig or starters minutes, barring an unforeseen injury. We will keep an eye on where Brooks ends up, but he is not expected to be worth more than a casual look on the waiver wires moving forward.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks, who continues to be moved in and out of the rotation, saw 20 minutes on Tuesday during a loss at Memphis. Brooks scored 10 points as he went 4 for 6 from the field in the game with two free throws. He added four assists and two steals in the contest.
Analysis: Brooks played just seven minutes on Sunday against Houston and was not seeing minutes previously to that. He could leave the rotation anytime and has no major Fantasy value considering you never seem to know when he's going to contribute.
News: Sacramento guard Aaron Brooks has essentially been removed from the team's rotation for the time being, reports the Sacramento Bee Tuesday. The Kings are using Jimmer Fredette as the strict backup to point guard Isaiah Thomas.
Analysis: Brooks has seen zero minutes in Sacramento's last two games and hasn't seen double figures in minutes for a while now. If he's not playing, he doesn't have much Fantasy value. It is as simple as that. Brooks should only be owned in the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Sacramento guard Aaron Brooks played just six minutes on Wednesday during a loss at Boston. Brooks did not attempt a field goal but took two free throws, hitting one. He scored the one point and added one turnover. Brooks had no other discernible statistics in the performance. He did not get any minutes in the Kings' previous game Monday at Washington.
Analysis: Brooks has been inactive twice in the last week of games for the Kings and has a 16-point performance sandwiched in between. Coach Keith Smart has been hesitant to play him and Fantasy owners cannot trust him outside the very deepest of formats.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks finally returned from his illness on Wednesday against Washington. Brooks was supposed to return last game but never got off the bench for the Kings. He played just eight minutes Wednesday and went 2 for 3 from the field to score four points. He added one rebound and one assist for Sacramento in the victory.
Analysis: Brooks missed two games with the illness and is averaging just 16 minutes over his last three games played. He's putting up just 5.3 points and 1.7 rebounds with one assist over that stretch and is simply not a viable Fantasy option in his current role with the Kings.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks was expected to play Monday against Cleveland, but the ill point guard never made it off the bench. "He's back," said coach Keith Smart before the game. "He had some chicken soup and he's ready." That said, he didn't see any minutes and it was listed as a DNP-CD after the game. It should be noted that Brooks was originally expected to miss Monday's game after sitting out Saturday against the Heat.
Analysis: Brooks couldn't get back in action Monday but we're not sure if it was because he's still sick or he simply wasn't in coach Smart's rotation. He was expected to miss the game before the coach announced he was ready to go, so perhaps just wasn't up to it once the lights came on. Regardless, his Fantasy value remains on the low side due to the fact that he's seeing fewer than 25 minutes per game.
News: The Sacramento Bee reports Kings guard Aaron Brooks was unable to practice on Sunday and is not likely to play Monday against the Cavaliers. Brooks missed Saturday's game against the Heat due to an illness. Tyreke Evans will move to the starting lineup in his absence.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging just eight points with a steal in his last four contests despite shooting 50 percent from downtown and 52 percent overall during that stretch. He has seen under 21 minutes on the court in those contests and could see his role decrease more with Evans returning to the starting lineup. Keep an eye on his status in the coming days to see what his role will be in Sacramento once he's healthy again. Brooks can be a viable option in deeper Fantasy leagues when playing well but keep him reserved in all formats at this point.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks was unable to play Saturday against the Heat, as he came down with the flu prior to the game. He is being considered day to day with the illness.
Analysis: Brooks has been taking a backseat recently, averaging just 22.2 minutes and 8.7 points per game in the month of January. We will see how Brooks spot in the rotation is affected by this illness, as Isaiah Thomas had a huge performance with Brooks out. Either way, he is just a low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks returned to action following an ankle sprain Tuesday at Detroit. He came off the bench for 22 minutes and hit just 2 of 8 shots. One was a 3-pointer as he scored seven points in the game. Brooks added three rebounds and three assists for Sacramento.
Analysis: Brooks missed one game with his ankle injury and is now back in action. Unfortunately, Fantasy owners only really care in the deeper formats because he's only averaging just over nine points and just under three assists per game.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Celtics due to an ankle sprain.
Analysis: The Kings have yet to specify the severity of the injury or when the 27-year-old actually suffered the injury, so we'll continue to keep an eye on his status in the coming days. He has the potential to be a solid option in Fantasy but due to his inconsistencies, leave Brooks for deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks had an efficient shoot night on Wednesday against the Warriors and one of his better performances thus far. He scored a season-high 23 points and dished out five assists in the 131-127 win. He went 9 for 12 from the floor, making all three of his attempts from downtown, and converted both of his free throws. Brooks also chipped in with two steals and two rebounds while playing 30 minutes in the victory.
Analysis: Brooks has made 48 percent of his shots in the last five games and that has led to him averaging 13.4 points during that span. He is also putting up 3.4 assists and two rebounds during that stretch. The 27-year-old has the potential to be a solid option in Fantasy but due to his inconsistencies, leave Brooks for deeper formats at this point.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks finished with nine points and five assists during Sacramento's 119-96 loss at Dallas on Monday. Brooks attempted just eight shots -- matching his second-lowest total over the past 10 games -- and connected on three of them. He did convert 2 of his 4 attempts from downtown for the second game in a row. Brooks also had five rebounds and three turnovers while logging 28 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Brooks has maintained a spot in the starting lineup as he attempts to increase his scoring during the second month of the season. He is already off to a good start despite Monday's contest halting his three-game stretch with at least 11 points and is averaging 9.4 points a night during the month of December. Brooks is also a key contributor for assists and should be viewed as a decent option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks has been unable to score in double figures in back-to-back games. Brooks scored nine points on 4 of 8 shooting on Friday in a loss to Indiana. He played 30 minutes and added just two rebounds and one assist while turning the ball over three times and fouling out in the game.
Analysis: Brooks has been unable to find any consistency with the Kings. He's averaging in single digits in scoring and his passing hasn't been at a high level, either. With inconsistent minutes, Brooks should only be active in very deep Fantasy formats.
News: The NBA fined Kings guard Aaron Brooks $25,000 Monday for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands after a loss at Utah last Friday, reports the Sacramento Bee. Brooks is the third Kings player to be disciplined by the NBA this month.
Analysis: Brooks is not normally a disciplinary concern for the Kings and should be fine going forward. Brooks was just frustrated Friday against the Jazz. He's averaging 12.0 points and 2.4 assists per game over his last five contests. Outside of 3-point shooting, Brooks has really struggled for Fantasy owners. He should only be active right now in very deep Fantasy formats.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks was able to play despite a lingering ankle issue Friday against the Hawks. He saw 22 minutes of playing time, and poured in 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting , while adding four assists and a rebound in a 112-96 loss.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging just 6.3 points per game in his return to the United States, after spending last season playing in China. He is averaging 19.4 minutes per game and is shooting just 36.5 percent from the field. He is worth owning in just the deepest of Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Kings point guard Aaron Brooks was able to practice Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's game against Portland with a sore right ankle. Brooks told the Oregonian that he's OK and expects not to miss any time. The Kings don't play next until Friday against Atlanta.
Analysis: Brooks should be fine going forward for the Kings. The 27-year-old has not gotten off to the best start thus far as he is making just 32 percent of his shots from the field in the early going. He is averaging 6.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists over his first seven games and has been seeing around 20 minutes per contest as Isaiah Thomas' backup. Brooks should be considered merely a low-end reserve option in most Fantasy formats right now.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks had his first start of the year cut short during Tuesday's contest against the Trail Blazers. Brooks logged just seven minutes before leaving the game due to a sore left ankle. He was unable to return and did not stat during his brief run on the floor. The Kings are listing him as day to day.
Analysis: Brooks' injury is not being considered serious, albeit it does bear monitoring over the next few days. Brooks should be considered merely a low-end reserve option in most formats, even when he gets healthy.
News: Kings guard Aaron Brooks broke his tooth in Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls, according to multiple reports. Brooks broke his tooth while diving for a loose ball but never left the game. He finished with seven points with three rebounds while shooting 3 of 10 from the field before fouling out.
Analysis: Brooks is not expected to miss anytime moving forward with his injury, but owners may just want to keep an eye on his status just to be on the safe side. After spending last season playing in China, Brooks is expected to serve as the backup point guard to Isaiah Thomas this year and is likely looking at around 20-25 minutes per game. Brooks is only two years removed from averaging 19.6 points and 5.3 assists for the Rockets and could end up being a big asset to most Fantasy teams when all is said and done. However, he should only be starting in deeper formats at this point in the year.
News:Aaron Brooks made his debut with the Kings in Wednesday's season opener against the Bulls. He scored seven points with three rebounds in the 93-87 loss. He went just 3 for 10 from the floor, including 1 for 3 from beyond the arc, and missed his lone free-throw attempt. Brooks also chipped in with a steal and an assist in 23 minutes before fouling out.
Analysis: Brooks spent last season playing in China and returns to the NBA to serve as the backup point guard to Isaiah Thomas in Sacramento. He has never shot that well in his career but he should be able to improve on the 30 percent he posted Wednesday night. Brooks should continue to see minutes for the Kings and is worth a look in deeper Fantasy formats at this point. Keep in mind he is just two years removed from averaging 19.6 points and 5.3 assists for the Rockets.
News: After a season spent playing professional in the Chinese Basketball Association, guard Aaron Brooks is back in the United States and ready to return to the NBA after signing a two-year deal with the Kings. He will likely back up Isaiah Thomas at point guard in Sacramento.
Analysis: Brooks is just two seasons removed from winning the leagues Most Improved Player award, when he averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 assists with Houston in 2009-10, so his talent is obvious, even if he has not reached those highs in a few years. At this point, he is worth a late-round flier in most Fantasy formats, but don't expect him to be starting right away.
News: Yahoo! Sports reports that several players who signed contracts to play in China during the NBA lockout will not be allowed out of their contracts until the current season is over. The four players affected by this are Denver's J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin and Wilson Chandler and Phoenix's Aaron Brooks. The players have reportedly been misbehaving in hopes of being waived, but that doesn't seem like it is going to happen. As one Chinese Basketball official put it: "They can play, get paid [in China] and return to the NBA in March, or they can not get paid, and return to the NBA in March."
Analysis: Brooks and the others are learning quickly not to mess with China. Unlike other players who chose to play overseas during the lockout, these Chinese contracts are not easy to get out of and Brooks and company might miss pretty much the entire NBA season. Fantasy owners will want to pay attention to news on this as none of the listed players above would be worth drafting if they cannot play until March.
News: The Arizona Republic reports that the Suns are tendering a $3M qualifying offer to guard Aaron Brooks that will make him a restricted free agent.
Analysis: Brooks joined the Suns midseason following a trade from Houston. He will once again play the role of No. 2 point guard behind starter Steve Nash. He capped off the season averaging 14.9 points and 5.9 assists per game as a starter. Brooks was normally a reserve, though, finishing with averages of 10.7 points and 3.9 assists in the down year. We hope he can rebound in 2011-12, but he should only be considered with a late-round pick if he remains with the Suns.
News: Restricted free agent guard Aaron Brooks had a rollercoaster 2010-11season while dealing with constant ankle injuries and an unexpected mid-season trade from Houston to Phoenix. In a report by The Arizona Republic last week, Brooks expressed interest in remaining with the Suns. "I'm just trying to get comfortable, show what I can do, what I can bring to the team," Brooks said with a few games remaining. "I just like playing basketball again. It was a drag coming to work sometimes. I'm having fun with it. You see me smiling. I want to show I can fit." He capped off the season averaging 14.9 points and 5.9 assists per game as a starter. Brooks was normally a reserve, though, finishing with averages of 10.7 points and 3.9 assists in the down year.
Analysis: Brooks was Steve Nash's backup after the trade from Houston, and didn't get a ton of opportunity to contribute until the playoffs were out of reach. He was an overall disappointment from a Fantasy perspective. After being selected in the early rounds on average in CBSSports.com leagues, Brooks barely put up half of his season average of 19.6 points per game from the 2009-10 season. He had progressed every season as a scorer before his lull in season No. 4 in the NBA. Brooks finished the season below the top-75 guards in standard scoring Fantasy leagues, in the same company as mediocre offensive players like Tony Allen and Sasha Vujacic. While we don't expect Brooks in the same company in 2011-12 , Fantasy owners may be reluctant to pick him up unless he lands a starting job with a new team. It may set up for some sleeper Fantasy appeal on Draft Day 2011. With his offensive potential still there at age 26 with something to prove, target Brooks in the middle rounds this fall.
News: Phoenix guard Aaron Brooks has four more games to show the Suns what he brings to the table in hopes they bring him back next year. Brooks, a restricted free agent, has backed up Steve Nash since joining the team. When he has his jumper going, he gives us a big lift," Nash to The Arizona Republic. "He can be an explosive scorer, and that can be a great weapon for us. We just want somebody who can play and he can play. Hopefully, he gets more and more comfortable." Brooks said he's having fun again and wants to fit in with his new team. He's improved his shooting from 34.6 percent in Houston to 46.2 percent with Phoenix. He also dealt with ankle issues while he was with the Rockets, something that has gotten better through the season. "I can shoot the ball," he said. "It's just about getting healthy. I feel a little bit better now."
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 12.7 points and 4.2 assists over his last 10 games for the Suns in just under 20 minutes per contest. He may get more court time the final four games as Phoenix may rest Nash. Fantasy owners should continue to view Brooks as a low-end guard option for the rest of season. His stock next year all depends on where he lands. Keep an eye on his status during the offseason.
News: Starting once again in place of Steve Nash, who was out due to a lingering bout with the flu, Aaron Brooks played 26 minutes in Sunday's blowout loss to the Spurs. Brooks managed 14 points off 5 of 12 shooting from the field. He added six assists for a second consecutive game.
Analysis: Nash was not with the team on Sunday, but is expected back for the team's next game on Tuesday in Chicago. It should be noted that the Suns were eliminated from playoff contention with Sunday's loss and Brooks could benefit from added playing time if the Suns decide to rest or shut down Nash. No such plans have been announced, however, and Brooks remains merely a low-end play for deep, deep leagues. With Nash around, Brooks would see his playing time dip back below 20 minutes per game and his production could be cut in half.
News: Phoenix guard Aaron Brooks was ejected late in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City after appearing to make an obscene gesture toward a referee during the Suns' 116-98 loss to Oklahoma City. Brooks walked in the direction of referee Ken Mauer and reportedly taunted him while adjusting his shorts. Brooks immediately left the court, waiving to the home crowd on his way out of the arena. He finished with seven points and three assists while playing 16 minutes before being tossed.
Analysis: The Brooks era isn't really going according to play for Phoenix after the team acquired the oft-troubled point guard at the NBA trade deadline. Brooks, who came over from Houston, is averaging just 9.8 points in 17 games with the Suns and has surpassed the 20-point mark only once with the team. He has been tremendously inconsistent with his assist totals and is averaging just 3.6 assists in his last five games. Fantasy owners should only consider him a low-end option in deeper leagues at this point in the season.
News: Playing 20 hours and 21 minutes after their triple-overtime loss in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, the Suns didn't seem to have enough in the tank Wednesday, falling behind by 13 points late in the third quarter. But backup point guard Aaron Brooks energized the team with nine of his 25 points over the final 2:30 of the third, and his 3-pointer with 54.9 seconds left in the game sealed the Suns' victory. "I just wanted to be aggressive, as coach asked me to, and if the shot was there, take it," Brooks said. "We played hard. It was kind of hard. We got in late and we got it done." Brooks added eight assists and four rebounds in 34 minutes. He got extended action with Steve Nash getting some rest after the marathon with the Lakers. Nash was held to 22 minutes and finished with 16 points, eight assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: We're glad Brooks played at this level, but the only way he can keep this up is if the Suns decide to shut down Nash with his pelvic injury once they are eliminated from playoff contention. Keep an eye on what happens with Nash going forward, but Brooks should only be used in deep leagues while he remains the backup point guard in Phoenix.
News: The NBA announced on Sunday that Aaron Brooks would serve a one-game suspension on Sunday at the Clippers. He was suspended as the result of his throwing a ball at an official Friday against Golden State. Brooks is eligible to return on Tuesday at the Lakers.
Analysis: Brooks is forced to sit out a game due to unsportsmanlike conduct. Chalk this up as yet another frustrating moment in what has been a completely disappointing season for Brooks. Despite having massive upside, he has found himself battling injuries and reduced to a backup role both in Houston before being traded and certainly in Phoenix behind Steve Nash. Brooks may be the heir apparent to Nash as the point guard of the future for the Suns, but right now has value mainly just in long-term keeper formats.
News:The Arizona Republic reports that Steve Nash (pelvic) could return for Wednesday's game at the Hornets. "I expect to play on Wednesday," Nash said after missing a second consecutive game on Monday. Aaron Brooks scored only two points with three assists and two rebounds starting in Nash's place Monday in Houston. He shot 1 for 9 from the field.
Analysis: Brooks did manage 19 points and 10 assists on Sunday against Orlando in a true display of his offensive ability. However, as long as Nash is healthy enough to play, Brooks is expected to see only around 20 minutes per game off the bench. That makes him a player to avoid activating in all formats, barring a setback with Nash.
News: With guard Steve Nash ruled out for Sunday's game against Orlando, Aaron Brooks made his first start as a member of the Suns. Brooks finished with 19 points and 10 assists in the contest on 8 of 14 shooting from the field. He went 3 of 5 at the charity stripe and also chipped in with two rebounds, and a steal while logging 28 minutes. "I'm still feeling it out," Brooks said, "finding out everybody, where they want the ball at, different spots, trying to figure out the offense, trying to watch Steve, see what he does and implement that, since this offense has been so successful."
Analysis: Nash is also expected to miss Monday's game against the Rockets, so it appears at this point Brooks will get to start against his former team. As long as Nash remains sidelined, Brooks will get an opportunity to play big minutes, which should translate into a huge spike in production. However, unless Nash is ruled out for an extended amount of time, his value remains restricted to daily-lineup leagues or as a handcuff measure in weekly leagues.
News: Suns G Steve Nash (groin) was ruled out for Sunday's game against Orlando, as anticipated. Coach Alvin Gentry made the announcement to reporters about an hour prior to Sunday's tipoff against the Magic. In his absence, Aaron Brooks was listed as a starter.
Analysis: Nash's injury could provide Fantasy owners with a glimpse of the player Brooks was last season, the same player that inspired enough confidence to be drafted in the early rounds of many Fantasy leagues. He averaged 19.6 points and 5.4 assists last season and has that type of upside under the right circumstances. However, unless Nash is ruled out for an extended amount of time, his value remains restricted to daily-lineup leagues or as a handcuff measure in weekly leagues.
News: Suns G Steve Nash is not expected to play in Sunday's game against Orlando as he continue to deal with a rare pelvic injury. In his absence, Aaron Brooks is expected to start. Brooks has averaged 15.9 minutes per game in seven appearances with Phoenix.
News: Guard Aaron Brooks was activated and played for the Suns in Sunday's game at Indiana. The third-year veteran was acquired in a trade Thursday for Goran Dragic and a first-round draft selection. Brooks played just 10 minutes off the bench and contributed only thre points, an assist and a rebound.
Analysis: Brooks had been languishing behind Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin in Houston. In Phoenix, his situation may not be much brighter behind Steve Nash. Brooks gives the Suns a solid eventual replacement for the aging Nash, but that will do little to help Brooks and his Fantasy appeal this season. Barring an injury, he looks to be merely a low-end Fantasy option -- if that. Expect him to get more minutes as he becomes situation in Phoenix.
News: Guard Aaron Brooks was activated and expected to play for the Suns in Sunday's game at Indiana. The third-year veteran was acquired in a trade Thursday for Goran Dragic and a first-round draft selection.

News: Suns guard Aaron Brooks has passed his physical and is expected to play in Sunday's contest at Indiana. Brooks was traded to the Suns on Thursday from the Rockets. He is averaging 11.6 points and 3.8 assists in 34 games this season. Coach Alvin Gentry said Brooks will give him an opportunity to rest Steve Nash more and added that he could pair the two in the backcourt. "Aaron will be a little more aggressive offensively," Gentry told the Arizona Republic . "We want him to be. One of the things we've lacked on the second unit is consistent scoring or guys who have been able to attack the basket."
Analysis: Brooks is finally out of Houston where he clashed with the team on a number of issues, including his playing time and contract status. Now he gets a fresh start in Phoenix. Still, he will serve as Nash's backup which will continue to limit his minutes and Fantasy value. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy option, until he proves otherwise.
News: Suns coach Alvin Gentry said newly acquired guard Aaron Brooks was in Phoenix for a physical on Friday. He's expected to join the team in Indianapolis, where the Suns face the Pacers on Sunday. "If we can get him healthy and acclimated, he'll score the ball for us," guard Steve Nash told The Arizona Republic. Coach Alvin Gentry said Brooks will give him an opportunity to rest Nash more and added that he could pair the two in the backcourt. "Aaron will be a little more aggressive offensively," Gentry said in comparison with Goran Dragic, whom the Suns traded to Houston with a first-round pick for Brooks. "We want him to be. One of the things we've lacked on the second unit is consistent scoring or guys who have been able to attack the basket."
Analysis: Brooks was injured in the fifth game of the season and hasn't been happy all year due to the fact the Rockets haven't extended his contract. Now he has a chance to start over with the Suns. He'll serve as Steve Nash's backup, which doesn't help his Fantasy value much. But he's out of the doghouse and will have an opportunity to play. Barring an injury, Brooks looks like a low-end Fantasy option.
News: The Rockets and Suns agreed to a trade that will send Aaron Brooks and to the Suns in exchange for Goran Dragic and a first round pick. The trade was announced shortly after Thursday's NBA trade deadline had passed. Brooks was injured in the fifth game of the season and hasn't been happy all year due to the fact the Rockets haven't extended his contract. In Phoenix he'll backup Steve Nash. Ill wait in line, Brooks told the Houston Chronicle. That dude is a legend, MVP and a Hall of Famer. Im ready to go be behind him and learn from him, just come in and help team. It offers me a fresh start. Im ready to go.
Barring an injury, he looks to be merely a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks' scoring woes continued in Tuesday's 108-100 win over the Pistons. Brooks scored just nine points in the victory on 2 of 9 shooting from the field. He went just 1 of 5 from behind the arc but did make all four of his free-throw attempts. Brooks did dished out six assists in the contest and added four rebounds and a pair of steals to his statline in 28 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Brooks continues to struggle coming off the bench for Houston and is averaging just 10.5 points in the month of February. He is shooting just 32 percent from the field over that stretch, including 21 percent from behind the arc, which makes it tough for most owners to start Brooks at this point. With the trade deadline just days a away, there is a chance Brooks could be on the move. However, until that happens, continue to view him as low-end Fantasy option.
News: After scoring a combined 18 points in his previous three games, Rockets guard Aaron Brooks found his scoring touch in Monday's 121-102 win over the Nuggets. Brooks scored 18 points in the victory on 6 of 13 shooting from the field. He went 2 of 7 from downtown and ended up fouling out after logging 21 minutes of game action. Brooks is averaging 10.2 points and 3.4 assists over his last 10 games.
Analysis: Brooks continues come off the bench and his production has remained erratic for the most part. The 26-year-old has scored in double figures just once over his last five contests and continues to see around 24 minutes a game. Brooks for whatever reason can not get comfortable coming off the bench and therefore should continue to be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks made his return from a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team in Tuesday's contest against the Timberwolves. Brooks, who was punished for walking out on his teammates after Kyle Lowry replaced him during the fourth quarter of Saturdays win over Memphis, began the season as the Rockets starting point guard. But a severe ankle sprain and solid play from Lowry have led to a reduced role for last seasons Most Improved Player, who expressed his remorse before Tuesdays game. I think I had a good conversation with [General Manager] Daryl [Morey], Brooks said. It was an embarrassing moment. Hopefully my play will show that Im genuinely sorry, Im here for the team, and Im not a selfish guy. Brooks finished with five points on 1 of 8 shooting from the field in the 112-108 loss.
Analysis: Brooks has made it known that is not happy with his current role in Houston, although he was singing a different tune prior to Tuesday's contest. The 26-year-old is averaging only 12.2 points on the year and has really struggled coming off the bench. There have also been rumblings about the Rockets possibly looking to move their disgruntled guard, so Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on that situation as well. Consider Brooks a low-end Fantasy option until he picks up his production.
News: Yahoo.com reports that Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who is eligible to return from his one-game suspension Tuesday against the Timberwolves, is unlikely to be traded. Brooks was suspended for walking off the court early last week and is unhappy at his playing time.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging only 12.2 points off the bench this season, almost 7.5 points fewer than he averaged in 2009-10. Kyle Lowry is just doing a whole lot more from the point, and it doesn't look like Brooks' situation is going to improve any time soon. For now, only start him in deeper leagues, but don't dump him just yet.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets PG Aaron Brooks has been suspended one game for leaving the court early during the fourth quarter of Saturday's win over Memphis. He will miss Monday's game at Denver. What he did was completely the wrong thing to do and he has to suffer the consequences, Houston coach Rick Adelman said. Brooks did not accompany the team to Denver.
Analysis: Brooks is unhappy with his current role in Houston, where he is averaging only 12.2 points off the bench and is often pulled late in key situations. He said on Tuesday he was done with his tantrums, but that clearly isn't the case. Brooks will now only play twice in Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 7-13), and should probably be benched in all formats for that reason. Hopefully he learns something from this suspension and comes out firing once he's back on the court.
News: The frustrations continue to mount for Rockets guard Aaron Brooks this season. Originally agitated in the preseason about the Rockets' decision not to extend his contract, Brooks has also expressed his displeasure about coming off the bench and being pulled late in games. "I'm not going to complain," Brooks said. "I had some times I was down. I'm over it now. I have to do whatever coach asks me to do. We're in similar situations, so he's going to do what he feels he needs to do to win games. If I do what I have to do, I'm going to be out on the floor." Brooks lost his starting job after he missed 21 games earlier in the season with an ankle injury and has been averaging around 23 minutes off the bench since he returned.
Analysis: Brooks has only shown glimpses of last season's form, when averaged 19.8 points and 5.4 assists, so far this year. While he put up a season-high 24 points in wins over Boston and Atlanta, he has made just 19 of 71 shots over his last six games and scored in double figures just once over that stretch. With coach Rick Aldelman giving no indication that Brooks' role will change with the team in the immediate future, Fantasy owners may want to think about leaving him on the bench until he gets back on track.
News: After two solid outings offensively, Houston PG Aaron Brooks relegated back to his shooting struggles in Thursday's loss to the Mavericks. Not only did he shoot just 2 of 10 from the floor, but he missed a layup with 17.8 seconds remaining, allowing Dallas to seal the game at the free-throw line. Brooks finished with just six points, as both of his baskets were from beyond the arc. He added four assists, two steals and a rebound in 25 minutes of action off of the bench.
Analysis: Brooks is still trying to find a consistent offensive groove since returning from injury last month. He's averaging just 12.4 points and 3.3 assists in January after missing most of December with the injury and posting a solid 18 points per night in November. With three tough games scheduled for Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb.6), Brooks might be a guy you want to give a rest for a scoring period. We do believe Brooks will slowly begin turning back into the player he was last year. Stay patient.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks shot better and put up a decent number on Monday night in a win at Minnesota. Brooks shot 5 of 14 from the field over 25 minutes, though he still went 1 of 6 from long range, and scored 15 points. He added three assists and two steals and actually fouled out of the game. Still, coach Rick Adelman sent a message by leaving Brooks on the floor late and keeping Kyle Lowry, the starter, on the bench. "Aaron had made a couple shots," Adelman said to the Houston Chronicle. "He's been struggling a bit. I thought let's let Aaron get an experience like he had last year, give him some confidence."
Analysis: We're not sure how Brooks managed to foul out after only 25 minutes of play, but the 25 minutes and the 15 points were both highs for him since dropping 24 points over 28 minutes at Atlanta on Jan. 15. Until Brooks starts producing consistently again, however, his value remains limited. We do believe Brooks will slowly begin turning back into the player he was last year. Stay patient.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks struggled from the field in Monday's game against Milwaukee. He shot just 1 of 8, finishing with only three points in 16 unproductive minutes off the bench. Brooks had scored 24 points with 10 assists in his previous game.
Analysis: Brooks has been very spotty since returning from injury and has been held to a pair of weak lines in two of his last three games. However, he has scored at least 17 points with five assists in in three of his last five. The production is there and it probably will not be long before he can get going consistently, but we recommend being patient.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks notched a double-double while helping Houston overcome a nine-point third quarter deficit to beat the Hawks 112-106 on Saturday night. Brooks scored a team-high 24 points in the contest on 8 of 14 shooting from the floor. He went 4 of 7 from behind the arc and dished out 10 assists in 28 minutes off the bench. Brooks is averaging 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds over his last five contests.
Analysis: Brooks continues to come off the bench for Houston and has been very productive of late. He seems to be finding his groove after missing a chunk of games earlier in the season and has been seeing around 25 minutes a game off the bench. There is still no word on when or if Brooks will return to the starting lineup, which continues to limit his value. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy guard heading into Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 16-23).
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks started alongside Kyle Lowry on Monday in Boston with Kevin Martin out. As it turned out, the backcourt played pretty well together as Brooks began to look more and more like the player he was before his injury. "I felt good to be out there again," Brooks told the Houston Chronicle. "It's definitely the best I felt since the injury."
Analysis: Brooks scored 24 points in Monday's game as he shot 8 for 15 from the field. He hit five 3-pointers and also had five assists as his teammates said he looked like the Brooks of old. This could be a corner turned for Brooks and owners might want to start getting him active again.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks (ankle) was back in action on Monday night in Boston and found himself back in the starting lineup for the first time in quite a while. Starting at shooting guard in place of the injured Kevin Martin, Brooks scored 24 points in the 108-102 win over the Celtics, on 8 of 15 shooting from the field. He went 5 of 8 from downtown and also chipped in with five assists and rebound in 37 minutes.
Analysis: Brooks had been coming off the bench for the Rockets as they attempt to limit his minutes and help him get as healthy as possible, but started in place of Martin on Monday night. He most likely will return to the bench once Martin returns, although he did make a strong statement with his performance against Boston. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his health and playing time over the next few days. Wait until he can prove both healthy and productive before getting back into starting lineups.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks (ankle) was back in action on Monday night in Boston as he returned from a three-game absence with a left ankle injury. The Rockets were without Kevin Martin for the game and gave the start alongside Kyle Lowry to Brooks.
Analysis: Brooks had been coming off the bench for the Rockets as they attempt to limit his minutes and help him get as healthy as possible. He only started because Martin was injured and he may go right back to the bench. That is why he remains an injury risk despite playing Monday. Fantasy owners will have to deal with his limited play for a little while longer until he can prove ready to be unleashed. Stay patient, Brooks owners, but this does not appear to be the best time to activate him. Wait until he can prove both healthy and productive without any lingering issues. Lowry should continue to put up decent numbers in the short term.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks (ankle) is still considered questionable for Monday's game in Boston in the team's official game notes. He has missed the team's last three games after re-aggravating a left ankle injury.
Analysis: The Houston Chronicle reported over the weekend that Brooks did not respond well to an extensive workout on Friday. He remains a real injury risk for Week 12 (Jan. 10-16) given the setback and the fact that he had not yet worked his way to big minutes yet even prior to getting hurt again. If he does return, he is likely looking at limited playing time for at least a couple of games. Stay patient, Brooks owners, but this does not appear to be the best time to activate him. Wait until he can prove both healthy and productive without any lingering issues. Kyle Lowry should continue to put up decent numbers in the short term.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks will miss his third consecutive game with an ankle injury Saturday night when the Rockets host Utah. Brooks re-aggravated an ankle injury in Houston's game against Denver on Monday and has not played since. He is considered day-to-day. Kyle Lowry will likely start in his place at point guard Saturday.
Analysis: Brooks, who missed 21 games with the previous ankle injury earlier this season, is averaging 12.1 points and 4.8 assists per game. He has struggled shooting the ball recently and has recorded more than 33 percent of his shots just once in the eight games since his return to the lineup on Dec. 19. Fantasy owners should keep Brooks stashed on their bench, and should be considered a must-start when healthy enough to play.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks missed his second consecutive game Friday after re-aggravating an ankle injury against Denver earlier this week. Brooks, who missed 21 games with the previous ankle injury this season, is averaging 12.1 points and 4.8 assists per game. Kyle Lowry will start at point guard for the Rockets against Orlando on Friday night.
Analysis: Brooks has been attempting to get back into a rhythm since suffering his injury in early November but is struggling to find his shot. He has netted more than 33 percent of his shots just once in the eight games since his return against Sacramento on Dec. 19. Fantasy owners should keep Brooks stashed and hope when he does return, can produce similar numbers to last season (19.6 PPG). Consider him a must-start in all Fantasy leagues when on the court.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets PG Aaron Brooks might not play Friday at Orlando. Brooks re-aggravated an ankle injury Monday against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Houston plays against Utah on Saturday, and if he's not back by that game, the usual must-start Fantasy option will be a risky play for Week 12 (Jan. 10-16). He has been dealing with this ankle injury for almost two months now, and it's clear that a good chunk of rest might do him some good. Follow his progress over the weekend.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks re-aggravated an ankle injury in Monday's game at Denver. NBA.com reports Houston coach Rick Adelman decided to rule him out for Wednesday's game against Portland as a result. He is listed as day-to-day going forward. Kyle Lowry will see a boost in minutes and touches in his absence. He said [his ankle] has been bothering him; its been sore, Adelman said. Apparently, it became too much for him to go on. Its obvious that its been bothering him some, so maybe a few days of rest will help him.
Analysis: Brooks has not been playing big minutes since returning from a 21-game absence due to stress fracture in his left ankle. This setback is a tad troubling and puts him back in his possible return to Fantasy prominence. He averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 assists per game last season and has the upside for even more in the future. However, Fantasy owners should temper expectations until he can put this ankle injury behind him.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks continued to come off the bench on Monday night in a loss at Denver. Brooks played just 16 minutes in the loss as he shot 1 for 3 with a 3-pointer as his only connection. He scored four points and dished out five assists.
Analysis: Brooks is still not starting and his play has been highly erratic of late. He's shot just 6 for 23 over his last three games and that comes with 2 for 11 from 3-point range. He had a 20-point performance against Miami on Dec. 29, but has done nothing since. For now, Brooks should be used sparingly in deeper Fantasy leagues. Still, we know he has the potential to break out in the second half.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks hit the 20-point mark on Wednesday night in a loss to Miami as he shot 6 of 13 from the field. Brooks continued to play off the bench, and saw 26 minutes of action to score exactly 20 points. He missed all four 3-pointers he attempted and added nine assists and two rebounds.
Analysis: Brooks, who nailed Dwyane Wade in the mouth during the game and incited Wade into scoring 45 points to beat the Rockets, had his best performance yet since coming back from his ankle injury. He's getting better by the game and will be back to must-start Fantasy status shortly.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks, who had missed the last 21 games with a stress fracture in his left ankle, was back in action in Sunday's 102-93 win over the Kings. Brooks entered the game in the first quarter and and finished with nine points on 3 of 10 shooting from the floor in 15 minutes.
Analysis: Brooks, who was the NBA's most improved player a year ago, fractured his ankle back on Nov. 6 against the Spurs. He only played in five games prior to Sunday's contest against the Kings and was averaging 16.4 points and 5.4 assists over that short time period. The Rockets said they will ease him back into action and continue to use him off the bench until he can get himself back up too speed. While this is great news for Fantasy owners, the Rockets play just twice in Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 20-26), so Fantasy owners may want to keep him stashed until he regains his old form.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Aaron Brooks "is expected to return" on Sunday against Sacramento. Brooks has been out since landing on Manu Ginobili's foot on Nov. 6 in San Antonio due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: Rockets coach Rick Adelman said he will work Brooks in gradually, indicating he likely will bring Brooks off the bench, keeping Lowry with the starters in a rotation that has worked increasingly well this month. Fantasy owners should use Sunday's game as a measuring tape to determine whether or not Brooks is ready to be activated -- especially in weekly formats. His Rockets are slated for just two games in Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 20-26).
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets GM Daryl Morey believes guard Aaron Brooks (sprained ankle) will return on Sunday against the Kings.
Analysis: If Brooks can prove healthy on Sunday, Fantasy owners would have to consider activating him immediately. That said, it isn't even definite he's returning Sunday yet so don't get too excited. Fantasy owners will want to monitor this situation closely.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who on Wednesday said he didn't feel like himself after being out since Nov. 6 with a sprained left ankle, had an encouraging one-on-one session with teammate Ishmael Smith on Thursday, according to the Houston Chronicle. He's now aiming to return sometime during the team's three-game road trip that begins Sunday at Sacramento. "Today went pretty well," Brooks said. "I went one-on-one with the ankle-killer. I'm optimistic."
Analysis: Sunday might be a little too optimistic for Brooks, and Monday at Golden State wouldn't be much better. If he sits out those two games, he might as well sit out Wednesday at the Clippers as well and get a whole extra week off, but we'll see how the Rockets decide to approach it. At most, Brooks would play two games in Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 20-26), so you're better off sitting him for at least one more week. When healthy, he's a must-start Fantasy guard because of his high-end scoring and decent assists totals.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who has been out since Nov. 6 because of a sprained left ankle, was surprised to be as sore as he was after returning to practice Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle. "It was OK, just OK," Brooks said. "I don't know what I expected. I didn't expect to be pain-free. It was a first practice. They said it went OK. I just don't feel like myself. I think that's what gets me."
Analysis: The Rockets won't have another full practice until after their three-game road trip that ends Dec. 22, so you shouldn't expect Brooks to play before then. He might still need a couple weeks to improve his conditioning, so you shouldn't expect to put him back in your lineup just yet. His scoring and assisting make him a must-start when healthy, so keep him stashed.
News: Houston coach Rick Adelman said on Wednesday that PG Aaron Brooks is practicing with the team, reports NBA.com. That said, Brooks missed his 20th consecutive game Wednesday against Oklahoma City with a sprained ankle. He's day to day for now.
Analysis: Brooks has returned to practice, but still may need some extra time off before he can return to active duty. He might be considered day to day, but Fantasy owners should still expect to be without the usual must-start option for the near future.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks was able to participate in the majority of Monday's practice and is as close as ever to returning to the team. That said, he will not play on Tuesday against the Kings, reports the Houston Chronicle. He practiced, which is a good sign, Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. He went through about three-quarters of it. He moved OK, but hes still a ways away. Well see how he responds to practicing today and see how he feels tomorrow.
Analysis: With Brooks being inactive on Tuesday, that leaves Wednesday in Oklahoma City as the next possible date he can make his return. This might be a little bit of wishful thinking yet and that means Fantasy owners would be smart to just keep him inactive for Week 8 (Dec. 13-19). Brooks, when healthy, is worth having active at all times in Fantasy play.
News: According to the team's official website, Rockets G Aaron Brooks still has no specific return date set. I dont know what the schedule is for me," Brooks said. "Do I think Im ready to practice right now? No, probably not but well see [ankle].
Analysis: Brooks said that he feels better every day, but that he is not yet 100 percent. He has been out since Nov. 6 with a sprained left ankle and the Houston Chronicle reported last Wednesday that he was targeting a return this upcoming Friday. That seems like a long shot at this point. Fantasy owners should continue to keep tabs on his progress. As soon as a more definitive timetable is announced, we'll be sure to let you know.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who has been out since Nov. 6 with a sprained left ankle, picked up the pace of his workouts Wednesday and is aiming to return Dec. 10 at Milwaukee, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Analysis: Brooks had his walking boot removed about a week ago and is now trying to work himself back into game shape. His scoring was a little down before getting hurt, but you can't really complain about 16.4 points per game, especially with all the assists that go with it. You'll want him active in Fantasy as soon as he's ready to return.
News: According to the Houston Chronicle, Rockets center Yao Ming and guard Aaron Brooks are both dealing with ankle sprains and are joking about who will return first. "I think that's a very active signal there," Yao said. "It feels so comfortable, so good to wear regular shoes walking. I think I have a pretty good chance (in the race with Brooks) now." Brooks disagrees. "They said the boot might help. I can go without it, but I can (heal) faster if I keep it on. It's not a setback at all," Brooks said. "I don't want anyone to keep it and slow down my progress of beating Yao."
Analysis: Brooks has been out since Nov. 6, but can return towards the end of Week 6 (Nov. 29-Dec. 5). That is still optimistic, so Fantasy owners should keep him stashed for now. With Kyle Lowry playing well too, Brooks may be eased back into action. He's an excellent point guard and is a high-end Fantasy guard when healthy. Keep tabs on him and hope he can return sooner than later.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks was out of the walking boot when he arrived at the locker room Monday night, according to the Houston Chronicle. He was cleared to remove the boot Sunday. Brooks has been out since Nov. 6 with a sprained right ankle. He could potentially return as soon as Dec. 4 at Chicago.
Analysis: Dec. 4 is considered the soonest Brooks could return, so it's hardly set in stone. Still, the 25-year-old is making steady progress in his recovery and is too close to returning for you to give up on him now. He's an excellent scorer for a point guard and will also pick up a decent number of assists when healthy. He's normally a must-start in Fantasy.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who has been out since Nov. 6 because of a sprained left ankle, was off crutches and in a walking boot Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle. He hopes to return within 2-3 weeks. "I'm losing my mind," he said. "I don't know what to do. I get to be at the house a lot more, but I need to play basketball."
Analysis: The original timetable for Brooks was 4-6 weeks, so he's perhaps a little optimistic. Still, you get the impression from this report he's going to make every effort to shorten his timetable as much as possible. He's a high-end scorer and a decent assists man when healthy, making him a must-start in Fantasy.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets G Aaron Brooks (ankle) said on Sunday night that he will be out four to six weeks. The team's official website said earlier in the day that he was expected to miss at least the next two weeks. Brooks hurt his ankle after a last second shot to end the first half on Saturday against San Antonio.
Analysis: The team is saying that Brooks only has a sprained ankle, but coach Rick Adelman has said that he is not expecting Brooks back until "at least" late November. It appears Fantasy owners will have to look for healthy alternatives for even longer. Kyle Lowry, who is dealing with his own back injury, will likely see extended playing time in his absence, but it was Ishmael Smith who got the start in his place on Sunday night.
News: According to the team's official website, Rockets G Aaron Brooks (ankle) is expected to miss at least the next two weeks. Brooks hurt his ankle after a last second shot to end the first half on Saturday against San Antonio.
Analysis: The team is saying that Brooks only has a sprained ankle, but coach Rick Adelman is not expecting Brooks back until "at least" late November at this point. Fantasy owners will have to look for healthy alternatives in the meantime. Kyle Lowry, who is dealing with his own back injury, will likely see extended playing time in his absence.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks hurt his ankle after a last second shot to end the first half on Saturday against San Antonio. He got tangled up with Spurs guard Manu Ginobili after he threw up a 40-footer at the buzzer. He did not return to the game and X-rays on his left ankle came back negative. He will be re-evaluated on Sunday. Brooks scored 18 points on a 7-for-13 shooting performance (2 for 4 from downtown) in 17 minutes of court time. He also had one rebound and dished out two assists.
Analysis: Brooks is the primary ball handler in Houston and with Kyle Lowry out of action with an injury, the Rockets could be in trouble. Fantasy owners will want to monitor him through the rest of the weekend before setting those Week 8 (Nov. 8-14) lineups. The Rockets face the Wizards, Pacers and Knicks, all of which are favorable matchups -- if he's healthy. Keep an eye on this situation as owners will need to find a healthy alternative.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Hornets with less than one minute to play in the game and the Rockets trying to come back furiously. Brooks scored 18 points in the game before leaving after playing 27 minutes. He shot 8 of 14 from the field and hit two 3-pointers. Brooks added three boards, four assists and a steal in the game.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 16 points per game this season to go with 6.3 assists and a steal with over two 3-pointers as well. Brooks is going to continue to handle the ball more than any other Rocket, making him a solid start in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Houston guard Aaron Brooks ran the show on Tuesday in the season opener against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. Brooks almost never left the floor as he played a team-high 42 minutes and he poured in 24 points. Brooks went 4 of 6 from 3-point range and went 7 of 16 overall from the field. The point guard almost had a double-double with nine assists and added three rebounds.
Analysis: Brooks has become a complete point guard and is the engine that makes the Rockets blast off. It looks as if he's in the for long haul every night and that is only going to mean lots of scoring and assists for his Fantasy owners. He can also hit the three as he showed Tuesday with four. Brooks is a top-end Fantasy guard and should be starting at all times.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks did not shoot very well during two games against the Nets in China on Wednesday and Saturday. Brooks scored 17 points in Wednesday's game but shot 6 for 14 from the field, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range. He only managed 12 points on Saturday and shot worse at 4 for 11 in that game. He did go 2 of 3 from 3-point range in Saturday's contest.
Analysis: Brooks is shooting under 50 percent for the preseason over 24 minutes per game and is averaging 13.3 points, 3.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds a game. Brooks enjoyed a breakout season in a year where the Rockets played without Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady. This year, McGrady is in Detroit and Yao is going to be limited to 24 minutes per game as he battles back from injury. The door should remain open for Brooks to be the team's prominent offensive threat and we anticipate another big year out of him. He is a solid choice as a low-end No. 1 guard or solid No. 2 in most leagues.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks scored 11 points with four rebounds and two assists in his preseason opener against the Magic. Brooks, who led the NBA in three-pointers with 209 last season, was 1 for 4 from beyond the arc.
Analysis: Brooks enjoyed a breakout season in a year where the Rockets played without Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady.
News: The Sports Xchange reports that Rockets guard Aaron Brooks was the team's Most Valuable Player this season. Brooks, who led the NBA in three-pointers with 209, became just the sixth player ever to have 200 three-pointers and 400 assists in the same season. For the year, Brooks averaged 19.6 points, 5.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds.
Analysis: Brooks played great in his third year in 2009-10 and will look to keep improving next year. We like Brooks as a solid Fantasy option, and he's worth a mid-round pick in all leagues. The Rockets should have a slightly different look in 2010-11 with Yao Ming coming back from injury, but that could help Brooks increase his stats, especially in the assist department.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks continues to stay hot from outside. Brooks had 22 points, including 6 of 9 3-pointers, Sunday at Phoenix along with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals. Brooks has 17 3-pointers in his past five games and is averaging 20.2 points over that span.
Analysis: Brooks has played well all season and should remain active in all leagues. The Rockets play two games in the final week of the year at Sacramento on Monday and against New Orleans on Wednesday, and Brooks should finish the year strong.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks had 28 points with five assists in Wednesday's game against Utah. He hit five threes in the game and has made at least three in three of his last four contests.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 21.4 points per game in that span and is playing at a very high pace in the final stretch of the season. The Rockets don't have much to play for and are playing a very free-wheeling style in these last games of the season and Brooks is benefiting offensively.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks had 17 points, seven assists and one rebound Tuesday against Memphis. Brooks hit three 3-pointers, giving him 192 for the season to tie Rafer Alston's franchise mark.
Analysis: Brooks has been a breakout player this season and continues to play well in all formats. Keep him active for the rest of the year and expect him to break Alston's mark before the season ends.
News: Houston G Aaron Brooks scored 30 points and handed out nine assists in a win over the Celtics on Friday. Brooks shot 10 of 17 from the field while adding four 3's, three steals and a rebound in 47 minutes. He has now scored 20 or more points in three of his last five games.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 21.2 points and 7.8 assists over his last five games. With Kevin Martin on the sidelines with a shoulder injury, Brooks is seeing a ton of minutes and is playing well in his increased role. Fantasy owners should consider him a must-start Fantasy option while he is hot and Martin is out.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks, who came into Wednesday's game at San Antonio averaging 22 points against the Spurs, scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half for Houston. He also added five rebounds and three assists.
Analysis: Brooks continues to play well with Kevin Martin (shoulder) out. He should be considered a must-start Fantasy option while he's playing at this level.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks tied a season high with eight rebounds Tuesday against Washington. He also added 11 points and 11 assists. In his past five games, Brooks is averaging 15.0 points, 8.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds.
Analysis: Brooks is playing well and taking advantage of Kevin Martin (shoulder) being injured. Keep Brooks active in all leagues and hope for more outings like this.
News: Houston G Aaron Brooks scored 18 points in a loss to the Clippers on Thursday. Brooks shot 6 of 15 from the floor while adding nine assists, three rebounds a steal in 38 minutes. It was the fourth time in his last five games that he has scored in double figures.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 12.8 points and 5.4 assists over his last five games. With Kevin Martin out of the lineup, look for Brooks to have a Fantasy boost because he will need to score more points in Martin's absence. If Brooks continues to have nights like Thursday, he is a high-end No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the Houston Chronicle, Rockets G Kevin Martin will not play Thursday against the Clippers because of a sore shoulder. Aaron Brooks will likely see more touches in his absence.
Analysis: Brooks has been slumping as of late and has averaged just 11.5 points over his last five games. With the possibility of seeing increased touches, Brooks might get back on track to putting more points on the board. Fantasy owners can consider him a high-end No. 2 guard at this time.

Brooks then dribbled around Anthony Carter and hit the go-ahead shot from the right of the free throw line. "I wanted to get some space first," Brooks said. "I knew it wasn't going to be all the way to the rim. I thought it would probably be a floater before I got to the rim. I tried to get open and get a shot off." Analysis: Brooks is playing consistent basketball, averaging 23.8 points and six assists over his last five contests. Unfortunately, the Rockets only play twice during Fantasy Week 20 (March 8-14). Fantasy owners should take note of this if they don't have any other strong players on their bench. If you don't have a player who can contrubte like Brooks, then it is better to leave him in your lineup.

Analysis: Brooks continues to play well this season. While his assists have been down a bit lately, his rebounding is up, making it a wash. Over his last five games he's averaging 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He remains a solid No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: Rockets coach Rick Adelman said in an interview with CBSSports.com that guard Aaron Brooks is "having a great year." Brooks is averaging a team-best 19.4 points to go with 4.9 assists and 2.6 rebounds heading into the All-Star break. Brooks told CBSSports.com he expected to have a breakout season with the Rockets dealing with injuries to Tracy McGrady (knee) and Yao Ming (foot). "I've been more aggressive," Brooks said. "I'm trying to get to the hole and create things. Now I have the freedom to do things. It's my third year. I know the system a little more and know what I can and cannot do. It's all a process. It was like that during high school. It was like that during college. I just want to continue to get better."
Analysis: We expect Brooks to continue to play at this level following the All-Star break. He should be considered a must-start option in all leagues, and hopefully, like he said, he will continue to get better.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks continues to play like a man possessed, scoring 34 points against the 76ers on Saturday. In 43 minutes he shot 11 of 25, 6 of 11 from downtown. He added two rebounds and four assists.

Analysis: Brooks actually had his lowest scoring output in his previous five games on Friday night. He's averaging 24.4 points per game over that span with 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.0 steals and over three threes. Brooks has been sensational for Houston and deserves to be starting in the majority of Fantasy leagues. That said, for the All-Star game-shortened Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 8-14), the Rockets only play one game. They are one of nine teams with a one-game schedule in the upcoming scoring period so there are plenty of options available seeing multiple games. Keep that in mind when deciding on Brooks' worth for the period.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks scored 33 points on Friday in a win over Portland. Brooks shot 11 of 21 from the field and hit three threes. He added seven dimes and four boards with two steals.

Analysis: Brooks is averaging almost 21 points per game over his last five but much of that is that 43-point game. Still, he's definitely scoring well and averaging 18.7 points per game on the year. Brooks is passing extremely well right now and hitting threes. He should be used widely in Week 14 (Jan. 25-31) as the Rockets play a favorable four-game schedule.

News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who had just scored a season-high 34 points on Wednesday and was averaging 24.1 points over his last seven games, had 11 points to go along with six assists Tuesday at Charlotte. He shot only 3 for 14 from the field.
Analysis: Overall, Brooks has picked up his scoring lately, so you shouldn't worry about his little hiccup Tuesday. He still needs to work on other areas of his game, but his 4.9 assists are enough to make him a No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks had 18 points, three rebounds and three assists Tuesday at the Lakers, giving him at least 17 points in each of his last seven games. He's averaging 21.3 points during that stretch.
Analysis: Brooks has struggled with his consistency in his first year as a full-time starter, but he clearly knows how to score and isn't a slouch on the assists either. Keep him active as a No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks had 30 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists Thursday against the Mavericks. He's averaging 26.7 points over his last three games after falling short of 20 in each of the previous four.
Analysis: Brooks averaged 19.8 points for the month of December after averaging 15.1 points in November. His scoring has been up and down this season, but he's clearly capable of dropping 20-plus any given night. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks scored 27 points to lead the Rockets in a win over the Hornets on Tuesday. Brooks shot 8 of 12 overall and hit five threes in the win. He added four assists and a steal.
Analysis: Brooks has hit 15 threes in his last five games and is averaging 18.2 points per night over that span with three boards and three dimes per night as well. He's really playing well at the moment and is giving you at least 17 points per game on the year. Brooks remains a must-start in Fantasy.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks had just seven points on 2 of 8 shooting Tuesday against the Clippers. He now has a total of 12 points on 4 of 23 shooting over his last two games.
Analysis: Brooks' struggles won't cost him his job, but they might cause him to lose more assists to Kyle Lowry, who has stepped up for Brooks with 22 assists over his last three games. With 17.5 points and 5.5 assists per game, Brooks remains a must-start in Fantasy, but he might not have much room to improve from there.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks had 23 points and seven assists Wednesday at Denver, giving him at least 20 points in six of eight games this month and at least five assists in six of eight games as well. He's averaging 20.6 points and 5.6 assists for the month.
Analysis: Brooks, got off to a hot start this year before tailing off a bit in November. He's on fire once again, though, and is playing like a No. 1 Fantasy guard. He's actually more like a No. 2, of course, but either way, you want him active in Fantasy.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks had 20 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds in Sunday's game at Toronto. Brooks has scored at least 20 points in four of six games.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 19.4 points, 4.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds over his last five games with great three-point numbers and even some good contributions in steals. He is well worth using in Fantasy as a No. 2 guard right now.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks didn't have his best game on Saturday at Portland. The Rockets lost and Brooks managed just six points in 31 minutes on 3 of 9 shooting. He missed all four threes he took, did not get a single rebound and dished out five assists.
Analysis: Brooks had scored 21, 22 and 25 points, respectively, in his three prior games and had combined for 11 threes over those three games while shooting way over 50 percent from the field. He never rebounds much but he's good for at least four assists per game and some steals. Brooks averages 16.5 points and 5.5 assists per game on the season and is well worth using in Fantasy as a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy guard. Houston plays three times during Week 7 (Dec. 7-13).
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks scored just nine points in 27 minutes Wednesday against the Mavericks, giving him less than 10 points in two straight games. He has scored less than 15 points in five of his last eight games, averaging 14.0 points during that stretch.
Analysis: A 33-point effort at the Lakers on Nov. 15 brings that scoring average up significantly. The fact of the matter is Brooks doesn't look like the same player who averaged 18.9 points over the first seven games. As long as he continues to average 15 points and five assists per game, he's still too valuable to sit in Fantasy, but he's more like a No. 3 guard than a No. 2.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks was held to 8 points with 3 assists in Wednesday's game against Memphis. He It was the first time this season he was held under 10 points.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging 18.9 points and 6.7 rebounds and he just suffered a poor shooting night (3 of 10 from the field). We would not be too alarmed about it. He's been a breakout-caliber player this season and should remain a must-start through thick and thin.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks had 28 points, 8 assists and 3 rebounds in Saturday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He shot 4 for 6 from beyond the arc. Through the first week of the season, Brooks averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds.
Analysis: Brooks was a breakout candidate coming into the season and he has not disappointed early on. The Rockets are playing a very fast-paced offensive style and Brooks is looking at huge numbers as the team's primary point guard. Start him in any format.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks distributed 12 assists in Wednesday's game at Golden State. He added 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and a block, going 3 for 6 from beyond the arc. He had 19 points and 5 assists in Tuesday's opener.
Analysis: Brooks was one of our favorite breakout candidates entering the season and while it is very early, he hasn't disappointed. He is in line for a bigger offensive role as the team has to rely upon him more without Tracy McGrady or Yao Ming. Expect big things for Brooks, who is a great play in any format.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, who has a firm grasp on a starting role this season, led the team with 19 points in the season opener Tuesday at Portland. He also had five assists, three rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Brooks put up those numbers even though he struggled a bit with his shot, missing all six of his 3-point attempts. He's a proven scorer who needs to show he can get enough assists to make a difference in Fantasy, but he's worth starting as a No. 4 guard.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports Rockets guard Aaron Brooks went from playing in the summer league last July to becoming Houston's second-leading postseason scorer (after Yao Ming), an experience he said has ended his doubts but made him hungry for more. "You always have questions about yourself, about the starting point guard thing, if you're ready," Brooks said. "I think I answered that. I can compete at a high level. I'm looking forward to playing again. The season is over, but next season starts in about two weeks. I'll work on getting stronger, work on my defense, watch a lot of film, work on my passing. What don't I want to work on? I want to work on everything and get better in every area." Coach Rick Adelman is confident the improvement will come. "He's a starting point guard in this league," Adelman said. "He's just going to get better. There's areas we'd like to see him continue to keep improving on. Distribution of the ball is one of those. You'd like to see his assists get up there more. That's him picking and choosing his spots. A lot of that is the progression we make as a team, too."
Analysis: We like Brooks as a solid sleeper coming into next year. He should have the chance to continue to start at point guard for the Rockets, and we like him as a No. 3 Fantasy guard worth a mid-round pick in all leagues.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks had 11 points, two assists and one rebound Tuesday against Orlando. Brooks is averaging 11.6 points and 3.0 assists in his past five games.
Analysis: Brooks is worth using as a low-end Fantasy guard at this time. He's a good source of points and three-pointers and has the chance to give you a 20-point night on occasion.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks had 20 points, four assists and one rebound Tuesday at Utah. He was the leading scorer for Houston against the Jazz.
Analysis: Brooks had a streak of seven games with at least double digits in points snapped in his previous game Sunday against the Spurs. Still, he's capable of scoring at this level most nights, especially with Tracy McGrady (knee) out for the season. Consider Brooks a No. 3 Fantasy guard at this time.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks had five points on just 2-for-10 shooting Sunday at San Antonio. It snapped a streak of seven straight games with double-digit scoring. Brooks is averaging 14.1 points per game in March.
Analysis: The Rockets point guard is playing well enough that he can be used as a No. 3 or 4 guard, but Houston is slated for only two games in the upcoming scoring period. That makes him a player to be reserved in any cumulative-scoring format.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks had 30 points in Friday's game against Phoenix, shooting 11-for-20 from the field. He had scored a combined 16 points in his two previous games.
Analysis: Brooks continues to be up and down ever since taking over for Rafer Alston as the starting point guard. Here is a look at his scoring outputs over his last five games: 8 points on Feb. 28 at Chicago, 22 points on March 1 at Minnesota, 7 points on March 3 vs. Toronto, 9 points on March 4 at Utah and then 30 points Friday. He remains only a No. 4 Fantasy guard at the moment. That can change, but he'll have to prove consistent first.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks has not been consistent in terms of points scored lately, having some big games and following it up with some less than spectacular ones. He was less than spectacular on Saturday at Chicago, scoring only eight points and distributing seven assists against the Bulls.
Analysis: With Tracy McGrady out of the lineup, one would think that Brooks would have seen a big increase in production, but it is yet to come to fruition. Over his last five games, he's averaging only one point more than his season average. He remains only a No. 4 Fantasy guard at the moment.
News:Aaron Brooks has stepped into the starting lineup after point guard Rafer Alston was traded to Orlando on Thursday in a three-team deal that brought Memphis guard Kyle Lowry and Magic forward Brian Cook to Houston. Brooks has averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 assists and 5.0 boards in two games as the starter.
Analysis: Brooks is worth adding in all leagues at this time as a No. 4 Fantasy guard and should continue to play well as long as he's given increased minutes. With Alston gone and Tracy McGrady (knee) out, look for Brooks to be a useful Fantasy option down the stretch.
News:Aaron Brooks had 19 points and eight assists Friday against Dallas in his first start since the Rockets traded away Rafer Alston at the trade deadline Thursday. He also added six rebounds and three three-pointers with two steals.
Analysis: Brooks got off to a terrific start in his new role as "the guy" for the Rockets. Kyle Lowry barely played off the bench and the fact that the team's GM spoke so glowingly about Lowry being the future of the team at point guard did not seem to matter Friday. Fantasy owners should continue to flock to Brooks, who could be a second-half Fantasy hero.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets GM Daryl Morey is a big fan of his newest acquisition Kyle Lowry and he even went as far as to say that Lowry immediately upgrades the point guard position, even with Rafer Alston, the Rockets' starter of the past four seasons moving out. "We feel like we got better today, upgrading that position was a goal going into the deadline," Morey said. "We feel like we accomplished it. Kyle is going to be a guy the town really loves. He's a really tough competitor, up-tempo player, a winner. Jay Wright at Villanova thinks he's the smartest point guard he ever had. He is someone we've had our eyes on really since the draft." Morey said Adelman would decide how to use his point guards, but at least for now, Aaron Brooks would seem certain to start.
Analysis: Lowry, 22, is going to have to come in and compete with Aaron Brooks, who became a hot pickup off the wire as soon as Alston was traded. However, it does seem like the Rockets have big things in mind for Lowry and Morey went so far as to say that he thinks they have a player that the team can build around in the future. With both Tracy McGrady and Alston out of the picture, expect the combination of Lowry, Brooks and Von Wafer to partake in a variety of roles down the stretch. Brooks is the hot pickup right now, but Lowry is certainly someone to stash if the Rockets think so highly of him.
News: The Houston Rockets traded point guard Rafer Alston to Orlando and acquired Magic forward Brian Cook and Memphis guard Kyle Lowry on Thursday, two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. Memphis also received the Magic's first-round draft pick as part of the deal, said the people, who requested anonymity because the trade had not been announced by any of the teams. The trade makes Aaron Brooks Houston's starting point guard.
Analysis: Lowry isn't likely to be the starting point guard in Houston with the team having a player like Aaron Brooks around who already knows the system. However, Lowry has some upside and could win a significant amount of playing time as the season goes on. Brooks should be added immediately in most formats where roster space is available as he is now likely the starter for the time being. He is a solid scorer who should automatically see an increase in assist production.
News: ESPN.com reports that a three-team deal was submitted to the league just before the trade deadline Thursday afternoon. In the deal, Orlando acquires Rafer Alston from Houston, Houston gets Kyle Lowry from Memphis and Brian Cook from Orlando. The Grizzlies get a first-round pick.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks got 26 minutes off the bench on Monday night in a loss at Milwaukee. Brooks played just nine minutes after sitting out a game last week but was back to his usual playing time against the Bucks. He made the most of it scoring 23 points on 5-of-10 from three-point range.
Analysis: Brooks is a three-point specialist when he's playing well and has scored 18 points or more in three of his last four games in which he's played. That makes him an excellent sleeper option for deeper leagues, especially if you are in need of someone who can hit the long ball. Brooks gets added value when Tracy McGrady injures himself.
News: Houston backup PG Aaron Brooks tied a season high with 22 points on Saturday against the Warriors. Brooks shot 8-of-19 from the field with a three and added nine assists in the game, a win for Houston.
Analysis: Brooks scored just two points in the previous game over 16 minutes but was given 43 on Saturday after Tracy McGrady went down with an injury. If the T-Mac misses time and the Rockets choose to give that time to Brooks, he'll be a nice Fantasy option until McGrady can return.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks had a steady hand off the bench during Monday's loss to the Knicks. He kicked in 13 points in 20 minutes, as he went 5-of-9 from the field, which included two 3-pointers. Brooks, who also had three rebounds and one assist, scored in double-figures Monday for the first time in seven games. He was averaging 4.8 points in his previous six outings.
Analysis: Brooks had a few good games earlier in January when Tracy McGrady was hurting, but really didn't contribute a lot off the bench. He was much better earlier in the season and his production has declined steadily over the last few months. Brooks has minimal Fantasy appeal at this time.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Tracy McGrady will be out for "at least two weeks" in an effort to let his sore left knee recover. "It doesn't make any sense to be shuffling in and out of the lineup," McGrady said. "If we can all come to a mutual agreement, absolutely...I think we have to do what we have to do to get healthy." Von Wafer, Rafer Alston, Luther Head and Aaron Brooks should see a boost in his absence.
Analysis: Fantasy owners of McGrady should not be surprised. This was an expected hassle of owning T-Mac and hopefully you have the right replacement in place for times like this. Hopefully this time off serves its purpose and allows him to return without the need of missing occasional time off. He is out until at least late January at this point. Aaron Brooks, Luther Head, Rafer Alston and Von Wafer all have a chance at a Fantasy boost in the meantime, but in cumulative leagues consider that the Rockets play just two games in Fantasy Week 12 (Jan. 12-18).
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks played 37 minutes on Wednesday as starter Rafer Alston struggled and Tracy McGrady sat out in a win over Boston. Brooks scored 19 points in the game, snapping a five-game single-digit scoring streak. He was 8-of-16 from the field with two threes and added four assists and three boards.
Analysis: Brooks is still averaging just nine points and 2.6 assists per game over his last five and is still coming in below his season numbers even with the big game. We don't expect this to be the norm. He's really only got very minimal value playing in Houston.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks started and played 41 minutes in Wednesday's win over Milwaukee. He was disappointing, however, with just eight points on 2-of-12 shooting. He was 0-for-5 from long range with five boards and just one assist.
Analysis: Brooks was playing better than that when getting just 20 minutes a night. If he wants to keep playing big minutes, he'll have to shoot and play much better than he did on Wednesday. Normally, Brooks backs up Rafer Alston but the two started together against the Bucks. If Brooks continues to start and starts shooting better he'll be worth a flier in deeper leagues.
News: Houston Rockets guard Rafer Alston returned to the starting lineup Tuesday night against Cleveland after missing four games with a strained left hamstring. The Rockets won all four games without Alston, who is averaging 11.7 points and a team-high 5.2 assists. Aaron Brooks started in Alston's place and averaged 17 points and 5.5 assists in the four wins. Brooks scored 22 points in Houston's win Monday night against New Jersey. Alston had 20 points, two rebounds and four assists in his return against the Cavaliers. Brooks finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench.
Analysis: Brooks will return to his reserve role, which will limit his Fantasy value. He can still remain useful in deeper leagues, but for now don't plan on using Brooks much as long as Alston is healthy.
News: Rockets guard Aaron Brooks tied his career high with 22 points as the Rockets won their season-high fourth straight game with a 114-91 victory over the Nets on Monday night. Brooks was outstanding in providing some unexpected offense. The 6-footer started for the fifth straight game with Rafer Alston (hamstring) out and hit 8-of-14 shots, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. His first long ball banked in. "If I can bank a three, then I know I can make the next one on my own," Brooks said. "I had some good looks. Yao and T-Mac command so much attention that makes it easier for me." Adelman said Brooks is starting to find himself in his second season. "With Aaron I always felt he was going to do a very good job," Adelman said. "The most important thing was that he got confidence and become aggressive and not afraid to take shots. It's going to bode well for him in the future."
Analysis: Brooks is worth adding in all leagues as a No. 4 Fantasy guard. He is capable of scoring well and playing at this level as long as Alston remains out. Keep an eye on what happens with Alston, but for now keep Brooks active in your lineup.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks, getting the start Tuesday against the Nuggets with Rafer Alston sidelined by a strained hamstring, had 18 points, six assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Brooks is averaging more than 10 points per game, which gives him some low-end appeal in Fantasy. He likely won't start for long, though, so don't pick him up based on this one performance.
News: Houston Rockets guard Tracy McGrady says he'll miss three weeks to rehabilitate his sore left knee. McGrady has missed Houston's last three games after starting the first 15. He had arthroscopic surgery in May, and admitted he came back a little bit too soon. Luther Head has started in his place while he has been out and should continue to start. Aaron Brooks should also enjoy a boost as a result.
Analysis: McGrady visited with orthopedist James Andrews on Monday. The team said Andrews confirmed the initial medical assessment by team doctor Tom Clanton that McGrady is suffering from general soreness in the knee. T-Mac should be stashed in most Fantasy leagues, this was a risk anyone who drafted should have been aware of with such a fragile player. Fantasy owners should think about adding Luther Head and Aaron Brooks with both players needing to step up their offensive games as a result of McGrady's injury.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks played 21 minutes off the bench on Wednesday night against Dallas. Brooks dropped 15 points on 4-of-10 shooting with two threes. He was 5-for-5 from the charity stripe but did little else of Fantasy significance.
Analysis: Brooks played well in Rafer Alston's absence but this was his first solid night with the team's starting PG in the lineup. Still, with Alston around he's just a low-end Fantasy starter at best.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Aaron Brooks, after scoring 39 points in the previous two games and pushing his shooting percentage to 48.4 percent, got his first career start with Rafer Alston suspended Friday. He made just 6-of-17 shots. His eight rebounds, however, doubled his career high.
Analysis: Alston will be back for a four-game slate in Week 4. But Brooks has had some appeal as a low-end starter even with Alston around this season.
News: The NBA has suspended Steve Nash and Matt Barnes of Phoenix and Rafer Alston of Houston for their roles in a fight. Alston and Barnes were suspended for two games without pay and Nash for one. Aaron Brooks will likely play a bigger role in Alston's place.
Analysis: Alston will miss games Friday against San Antonio and Saturday against New Orleans, but will be back for a four-game slate in Week 4. Fantasy owners in daily leagues should reserve him for the next two games, but Fantasy owners in weekly leagues are stuck with him this weekend. He'll be a quality No. 4 Fantasy guard option in the upcoming scoring period. Brooks has had some appeal as a low-end starter even with Alston around this season, so this could only help.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Aaron Brooks continued to be the Rockets' most reliable scorer Wednesday, scoring 19 points at Phoenix to push his average to 11.9 and his shooting percentage to 48.4 percent.
Analysis: Brooks has scored 39 points over his last two games and has gotten at least 13 shots in each game. With Rafer Alston struggling and possibly facing a brief suspension stemming from a fight in Wednesday's game, Brooks has definitely seen his stock go up. The presence of Alston on the roster still caps his ceiling a bit, but we're ready to call him more than just a fluky waiver wire guy. He's worth adding in larger formats if he is available.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, Thursday at Portland. He also had two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes. He has scored in double figures in three of four games this season, averaging 11 points per game.
Analysis: The Rockets' first-round draft pick in 2007, Brooks averaged 5.2 points and 1.7 assists in 51 games last season. He looks like one of their main men off the bench, though, and that value gives him some Fantasy appeal in deeper leagues. Consider him a decent low-end option.
News: Houston PG Aaron Brooks played 20 minutes off the bench in Thursday's win over the Mavericks. Brooks, originally thought to be out the next few weeks, scored 14 points and added five assists in the game. He hit two threes and gave the Rockets a nice spark off the bench.
Analysis: The Rockets' first-round draft pick in 2007, Brooks averaged 5.2 points and 1.7 assists in 51 games last season. After an impressive debut, his Fantasy value can only go up. A few more solid games and he becomes viable as low-end replacement option in Fantasy.
News: Rockets backup PG Aaron Brooks will miss 1-3 weeks because of a bone bruise in his right ankle. Brooks averaged 14.4 points and 4.1 assists in seven preseason games.
Analysis: The Rockets' first-round draft pick in 2007, Brooks averaged 5.2 points and 1.7 assists in 51 games last season. He might play more consistently this season, but he still doesn't figure to make a Fantasy impact. Leave him on waivers.
News: Two of the three teams the Rockets will face in Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2) allowed over 106 points per game last season and both Memphis and Oklahoma City have done little to shore up their defense.
Analysis: That bodes well for the team's big scorers, Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Ron Artest should also get off to a quick start with his new team. It also means secondary options like Luis Scola and Rafer Alston could be in for strong starts. Shane Battier is dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of the entire preseason and when he returns, it will likely come off the bench. He's not a recommended starter for Week 1 and likely won't be for a while. We don't recommend starting low-end options like Carl Landry, Aaron Brooks or Steve Francis despite the good matchups.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks averaged just 12 minutes per game in 51 appearances during his rookie season in Houston. He did have a decent month of April, however, when he averaged 10.1 points, 2.9 assists and 1.9 rebounds in eight games while seeing 18.9 minutes per game.
Analysis: Brooks saw the playing time with Rafer Alston hurt and with the Rockets gearing up for a playoff run. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect much playing time for him in his second NBA season and for that reason should avoid drafting him in all but the deepest of leagues. However, keep him in mind off the waiver wire if he starts to see minutes if 10 points, three assists and two rebounds per game appeals to your Fantasy format.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks sank two 3-pointers and hit all four of his free throws in five minutes off the bench Tuesday against the Celtics on his way to 10 points. Brooks has scored in double figures just five times in 42 games.
Analysis: Brooks may have climbed the depth chart a bit when the team traded away Bonzi Wells and Mike James at the trade deadline, but he is still not a in a role where he will produce much from a Fantasy standpoint. Leave him on the waiver wire.
News: Rockets G Aaron Brooks was held scoreless in Thursday's win over Miami, his fourth straight game with under 10 minutes played.
Analysis: Brooks may have climbed the depth chart a bit when the team traded away Bonzi Wells and Mike James at the trade deadline, but he is still not a in a role where he will produce much from a Fantasy standpoint. Leave him on the waiver wire.
News: Rookie point guard Aaron Brooks played a career-high 25 minutes off the bench Saturday against the Knicks and responded by scoring a career-high 22 points. He shot 8-for-10 from the floor, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Brooks might have worked himself into more minutes with Saturday's performance, but we wouldn't expect him to put up Fantasy-worthy numbers often. Leave him on waivers in all but the deepest of leagues.
News: Rockets coach Rick Adelman has settled on rookie Aaron Brooks and Luther Head as his backup backcourt. Mike James has played sparingly. Head, however, has taken the backup two guard spot with Brooks getting all the time as the backup point.
Analysis: Of the three, Head has the most Fantasy value for his ability to score in double figures, but none of these guys deserves consideration in standard 10- or 12-team leagues. Leave all on waivers.
News: Rockets PG Steve Francis, SG Kirk Snyder, SF Steve Novak, PG Aaron Brooks and PF Carl Landry did not play in the team's season-opening win at the Lakers.
Analysis: Francis has been told that he will be a regular part of the team's rotation so this comes as no surprise. He's already thinking he made a mistake to come back to Houston. None of these players are currently part of the team's regular rotation and should be left on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: Rockets PG Aaron Brooks shot 1-for-6 from the floor in Thursday's preseason game vs. Euroleague champion Panathinaikos.
Analysis: Brooks will not likely play a large role in Houston in 2007-08 and is not worth drafting in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Houston Rockets first-round pick Aaron Brooks agreed to a contract with the team on Saturday. Brooks, the 26th pick in the draft out of Oregon, signed a multiyear contract. He will earn nearly $1.7 million over the two years. He will play with Houston in the NBA Summer League when the team plays on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
Analysis: Brooks will not likely play a large role in Houston in 2007-08 and is not worth drafting in most Fantasy leagues.
News: The Houston Rockets selected Oregon guard Aaron Brooks with the 26th pick in the NBA Draft.
Analysis: Brooks is extremely quick at getting to the basket and has developed into a dependable perimeter shooter. As a rookie, he'll find minutes hard to come by.
