News: TSN.ca reported last week that Raptors forward Linas Kleiza and center Aaron Gray picked up their player options for the 2013-14 season. Kleiza's option will pay him $4.6 million, while Gray will make $2.6 million, in the final years of both of their deals.
Analysis: Gray averaged just 2.8 points per game over the course of 42 games, and he saw his role dramatically reduced as the team leaned on younger options. He will likely assume a similar role for Toronto this season, and should be ignored in most Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray was out of the starting lineup for the first time since Jan. 24 on Sunday against the Hornets. He played just two minutes off the bench and scored two points on a perfect 1 for 1 shooting in the 102-89 win.
Analysis: Gray averaged 8.2 points with 8.7 rebounds in the six games he started but with Jonas Valanciunas back and playing well, it looks as though his run could be over. Owners in the deepest of Fantasy formats should be the only ones holding onto the 28-year-old at this point.
News: Toronto center Aaron Gray had another solid rebounding performance on Sunday against Miami. Gray, who has recorded double figures in rebounds in four straight games, grabbed 12 on Sunday. He shot 3 of 6 from the field to score six points and didn't contribute with any blocks over 23 minutes.
Analysis: Gray has been seeing more minutes as he has joined the starting lineup recently with Andrea Bargnani continuing to miss time and Ed Davis dealt. Gray should continue to see minutes even when Bargnani returns with the way he's been rebounding. He's pulling down well over 11 rebounds per game over his last four contests and should start seeing usage in plenty of deeper Fantasy formats at a thin position like center.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray turned in another dominant performance on the glass but was unable to score in double figures during Friday's contest against the Clippers. Gray grabbed 12 boards but went just 3 of 6 shooting from the field and finished with seven points in a 98-73 victory. He also chipped in with four assists while logging 25 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Gray continues to earn some decent opportunities down low as a starter lately and has averaged 12.3 points and 11.0 rebounds over his last three games. Still, at this point, we'd like to see the 28-year-old performing like this at a consistent rate. For now, he has just low-end Fantasy appeal in all formats.
News: Toronto center Aaron Gray posted a career-high 22 points on Monday night during a home loss to Golden State. Gray played extremely well over 32 minutes in the starting lineup as he was 9 of 12 from the field and added 10 rebounds for the double-double. He also posted two steals and an assist in the game for the Raptors.
Analysis: Gray played 32 minutes Monday as the Raptors were dealing with several injuries. He had seen just 30 minutes combined in the team's previous four games. Gray may have earned more minutes with his performance Monday, but until he starts playing well consistently, he's going to have low-end Fantasy value.
News: Toronto center Aaron Gray got a start Sunday in a win over the Lakers. Gray still played just 16 minutes in the game as he scored five points with two rebounds for the Raptors. He was 2 for 5 from the field and added a block.
Analysis: Gray was a healthy inactive on Friday at Philadelphia and wasn't needed much Sunday as soon as Dwight Howard was ejected. He doesn't get a lot of run with Toronto and has low-end Fantasy value in all formats.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray was active for Wednesdays game against the 76ers, after missing the previous game with the flu. He was in uniform, but remained on the bench, as Amir Johnson earned the start at center. Gray earned a DNP - coachs decision, in a 90-72 win.
Analysis: Gray has been starting recently, but is averaging just 2.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game over the last five. It looks like Johnson is the clear No. 1 option at center right now, so Fantasy owners can continue to ignore Gray moving forward.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray was able to return to practice Tuesday after missing Sunday's contest with the flu, reports Sportsnet.ca. He is expected to be available for Toronto's game against the 76ers Wednesday night.
Analysis: Gray should be able to get back on the court Wednesday night, but that shouldn't matter much to Fantasy owners. The 28-year-old has scored a combined 10 points over his last five games and he is averaging just 3.2 rebounds over that stretch. Gray should be left on the waiver wire in the majority of formats at this point in the season.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray was unable to play Sunday's game against the Thunder because of flu-like symptoms. Amir Johnson took the start in his place. Gray is considered as day to day with the illness.
Analysis: Gray should be back in time for Wednesday's game against the 76ers, so we'll continue to monitor his status moving forward. Still, he has not been able to do much for the Raptors as of late, as he has failed to score a point in each of his last three games. He is averaging 12.8 minutes per game for Toronto and has scored just two points per game over his last five games. He is not considered to be a major contributor on offense and should be ignored in all Fantasy formats, even when healthy.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray was not much of a factor in Toronto's contest against the Thunder Tuesday night. Gray finished with just three points in the 108-88 defeat as he made his lone field-goal attempt. He also went 1 for 2 at the free-throw line and added two rebounds and an assist to his stat line, while logging seven minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Gray started 40 games for the Raptors last season but has been reduced to a reserve this season. He will continue to serve as rookie Jonas Valanciunas' backup for the time being, which so far has him averaging 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds while seeing 13.5 minutes per contest. Those types of numbers aren't going to help out many owners so leave Gray on the waiver wire in all formats at this point in the season.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray was ejected from Tuesday's game against the Knicks after picking up two technical fouls. He made his only shot from the field, finishing with two points. Gray added three boards in his eight minutes on the court. Toronto would lose the game, 106-87.
Analysis: Gray likely won't face a suspension, but he may get some time on the bench from his coach. Either way, Gray doesn't hold a lot of Fantasy value. Consider him a low-end option in deeper Rotisserie formats.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray logged just over 30 minutes of game action during Friday night's contest against the Grizzlies. Gray finished with seven points and seven rebounds in the 102-99 victory, on 3 of 4 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 2 from the free-throw line and also chipped in three assists, one steal and one block.
Analysis: Gray continues to start with Andrea Bargnani sidelined with a calf injury, but the 27-year-old's production has been a bit spotty. He has only scored in double figures once over his last five games, despite shooting 56 percent from the field over that stretch. However, Gray has averaged 7.0 rebounds over that same stretch, so owners in deeper Rotisserie formats looking for cheap help in the rebounding and field-goal percentage departments should using Gray in the short term.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray has been a fixture in the starting lineup of late. Gray has started each of the last 10 games for Toronto and notched his first double-double of the year in his last contest, finishing with a season-high 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Analysis: After missing the first three weeks of the season due to a heart condition, Gray has slowly but surely worked his way into coach Dwane Casey's starting lineup. While his offensive production remains a bit on the inconsistent side, Gray is averaging 6.6 rebounds during his last 10 games. He should continue to start as long as Andrea Bargnani remains sidelined, but really isn't worth owning in anything outside of deeper Rotisserie formats.
News: Raptors center Aaron Gray continues to struggle in his starting role with the team. He failed to score a point for the second time in five games on Tuesday night against the Knicks. He grabbed five rebounds, two blocks and on steal in his 13 minutes of court time. The Raptors ended up losing the game, 90-87.
Analysis: Gray is averaging just 2.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest over his last five games as he continues to fill in for the injured Andrea Bargnani. Fantasy owners in all formats can leave Gray on waivers as he doesn't bring enough to the table to be owned at this time.
News: Raptors C Aaron Gray was not much of a factor during Monday night's contest against the Wizards. Gray finished with four points in the 111-108 overtime loss, on 1 of 3 shooting from the field. He did make both of his free-throw attempts and also added four rebounds and one assist to his stat line, while logging just eight minutes of game action.
Analysis: While Gray has been starting for the Raptors over the past four games, he hasn't really done much over that stretch . The 27-year-old is averaging just 6.0 points and 5.5 rebounds since his move off the bench and is averaging just 15.5 minutes over that span. Unless he starts producing a bit more, owners should consider Gray merely a low-end option in deeper formats moving forward.
News: The Raptors are looking to replace the production of the injured Andrea Bargnani by committee, and C Aaron Gray was part of the tandem, along with Linas Kleiza, who was tagged with the opportunity to start as the team moves forward. Gray was nonexistent when it came to scoring on Friday against Denver, missing both of his shot attempts in the game, however he was dominant on the glass, grabbing 11 rebounds in just 15 minutes while locking a shot, however the Raptors offense struggled and they fell 96-81.
Analysis: Gray is now averaging just 2.0 points in five games this season while grabbing 6.3 rebounds. He has never averaged more than 4.3 points per game in any season, so the lack of scoring is no surprise, however the rebounding numbers are good to see. Hell clearly be seeing a bigger role moving forward, however it likely will not be enough to make him a viable Fantasy option, so keep him on waivers in all formats.
News: It took three games and 43 minutes, but Raptors C Aaron Gray scored his first points of the season on Sunday, after missing the seasons first 14 games after undergoing an ablation procedure to correct his reoccurring episodes of rapid heart rate in the offseason. He made all three of his shots on the game, scoring six points and grabbing eight rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench in a 103-91 loss to the Clippers.
Analysis: Gray had missed his first two shots in limited time during the first two games he played in on the year. Gray is in his sixth season in the NBA and is averaging 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. The Raptors will likely continue to use him as their fourth big man once Andrea Bargnani returns, so his minutes will continue to be limited. He is not worth a roster spot in most Fantasy formats.
News: Toronto center Aaron Gray saw his first action of the year on Wednesday night against Boston. He saw 19 minutes of action in his team's 96-73 loss. Gray underwent an ablation procedure to correct his reoccurring episodes of rapid heart rate in the offseason. He grabbed four rebounds in his time on the court.
Analysis: Gray may get some extra playing time while Andrea Bargnani sidelined, but he's expected back soon. Fantasy owners shouldn't pay too much attention to Gray as he's just a role player off the bench and holds little value.
News: Raptors C Aaron Gray is listed as active for Wednesday's game against Boston and has been cleared to play, the first time he has been active for a game all season. Whether he gets into the game or not is another question, but it's a positive that he's even dressing for the game after undergoing an an ablation procedure to correct his reoccurring episodes of rapid heart rate in the offseason.
Analysis: Gray has always been a role player off the bench in his NBA career and that will likely continue in Toronto. There is no need to add him in Fantasy.
News: Raptors coach Dwane Casey said C Aaron Gray (heart) might make his season debut Wednesday at Boston. Gray underwent an ablation procedure to correct his reoccurring episodes of rapid heart rate.
Analysis: Gray has always been a role player off the bench in his NBA career and that will likely continue in Toronto. There is no need to add him in Fantasy.
News: Raptors C Aaron Gray underwent an ablation procedure to correct hos reoccurring episodes of rapid heart and is expected to be cleared to return to game action in two weeks, reports HOOPSWORLD.com. Gray has yet to play this season due to his heart condition.
Analysis: Gray appears finally ready to get back on the court, although Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. Still, Gray doesn't hold much Fantasy value when healthy, so leave him on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: Toronto center Aaron Gray was inactive again on Saturday as he continues to deal with a rapid heart rate. Gray has been cleared to play by doctors, the team is staying cautious with the big man.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the court. However, Gray doesn't hold much Fantasy value, even when healthy. He can be left on waivers heading into Week 3 (Jan. 9-15).
News: Toronto center Aaron Gray was inactive again on Friday night as the Raptors hosted the Nets. While Gray has been cleared to play by doctors, the team is staying cautious with the big man and his rapid heart rate.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the court. However, Gray doesn't hold much Fantasy value, even when healthy. He can be left on waivers.
News: Raptors C Aaron Gray was once again ruled inactive for Wednesday's game against Cleveland due to his rapid heart rate. Gray has been cleared to play by doctors, but the team is considering him day to day at this point.
Analysis: Gray has been cleared to play by doctors, but the Raptors continue to err on the side of caution with the 27-year-old. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the court. However, Gray doesn't hold much Fantasy value, even when healthy.
News: Raptors C Aaron Gray was once again ruled inactive for Monday night's contest against the Knicks due to a rapid heart rate. Gray has been cleared to play by doctors, the team is considering day to day at this point.
News: Toronto C Aaron Gray was cleared to return to the court Wednesday after dealing with a heart condition, according to the team's official website. Gray, who missed the Raptors' season opener against Cleveland last Monday, will continue to have his heart rate monitored.
Analysis: As expected, Toronto decided to play it safe with Gray's potentially serious setback and he was not cleared to return to game action until he was completely healthy. However, he is not a huge Fantasy contributor and should remain on waivers in all formats for now.
News: Raptors C Aaron Gray was not available for Toronto's season-opener on Monday against the Cavaliers to due to a heart condition. Gray, who signed with the team last week, is being monitored for a rapid heart rate, according to the team's official website.
Analysis: Gray's condition was first noticed before the team's second preseason game, but he was cleared to play by doctors. However, his heart rate increased once again, so the team has decided to err on the side of caution and shut him down. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status to see when he will be able to get back on the floor. Still, Gray doesn't hold much Fantasy value even when healthy at this point in the season.
News:Aaron Gray has signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Raptors, reports Yahoo! Sports on Saturday.
Analysis: Gray has the ability to end up a decent Fantasy center before this season is over. Fantasy owners should look at him as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center now that he's with the Raptors.
News: Hornets reserve center Aaron Gray is opting out of the final season of his contract. Gray had until Thursday to decide whether to exercise an option for one more season with New Orleans at $1.1 million. Instead, he joined David West as the second Hornets player to opt for free agency on Monday. However, Gray's agent, Andy Miller, says the 7-foot, 270-pound center remains open to returning to New Orleans. The 26-year-old Gray averaged 3.1 points in 13 minutes per game during the regular season. His size helped the Hornets defend some of the NBA's bigger and more physical centers. Gray's best game of the season came in the Hornets' victorious playoff opener against the Lakers, when he scored 12 points.
Analysis: Keep an eye on where Gray ends up because that will determine his value. At best he could end up as a No. 2 Fantasy center in deeper leagues. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick in 2011-12.
News: After he made all of his field-goal attempts in Game 1, Hornets center Aaron Gray failed to make a big offensive contribution in Game 2. Gray shot 1 for 4 from the field and missed both his foul shots as he finished with just two points. He did add eight rebounds and one block in his 23 minutes of court time. He was slowed by his injured right ankle as he was beaten on the defensive end multiple times and was called for defensive three-seconds a couple of times. The Hornets would fall to the Lakers, 87-78, as they evened the series.
Analysis: Gray hurt his ankle in Game 1, but was able to muster enough energy to play on Wednesday. He buys the team valuable minutes off the bench, but doesn't do a whole lot to help out Fantasy owners. He should not be a player to target this fall on Draft Day.
News: The Hornets official team website reports Wednesday that center Aaron Gray said at shootaround that he will play Wednesday night at the Lakers in Game 2 of the first-round playoff series. Gray, who injured his ankle in Game 1, said "100 percent. I will be on the court." He estimated his health status at "somewhere around 80 percent, maybe a little bit better. Hopefully it feels better tonight."
Analysis: Gray played well in Game 1 when he finished with 12 points on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting from the field prior to leaving with his injury. Still, Gray is the No. 2 center in New Orleans behind Emeka Okafor and has minimal Fantasy value. Keep an eye on his health and the rest of his postseason performance, but don't plan on drafting Gray in the majority of leagues in 2011-12.
News: After badly turning his right ankle in Game 1 Sunday against the Lakers, the Times-Picayune reports that Hornets backup center Aaron Gray was held out of Monday's practice. He remains questionable for Wednesday's Game 2 in the series, but his coach needs him out there against the L.A. bigs. We would like to have him out there on the floor, Hornets Coach Monty Williams said. We got a couple of days, so well see. Gray had a season-high 12 points without missing a single shot in the upset before leaving midway through the final quarter. Im taking it day-by-day and getting a lot of treatment, Gray said. Obviously we got another practice and shootaround. But I got a softball in there.
Analysis: Gray was in a walking boot and crutches after the game Sunday, and he continues to refer to his ankle as a softball. He officially has a sprained right ankle, and he spent the practice session getting it evaluated further using elevated placement. The swelling has gone down a lot, according to Gray, but the boot was back on after practice. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the issue each day in hopes of progression heading into Wednesday. Gray isn't much of a Fantasy commodity normally, but he made a mark in his only opportunity in the postseason.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets backup center Aaron Gray, who badly turned his right ankle in Game 1 on Sunday at Los Angeles, was in a walking boot and on crutches after the game. He is considered questionable for Game 2 on Wednesday. Ive got a softball on the ankle right now, Gray said. Well do everything we can to get it ready to go on Wednesday.
News: Hornets center Aaron Gray left during the later stages of Sunday's playoff opening win over the Lakers with an ankle injury. Pau Gasol inadvertently stepped on Gray's right foot while fighting for a rebound. Gray went down hard after the injury and had to helped off the court by teammates as he made his way to the bench. After the game, coach Monty Williams said Gray has a mildly sprained ankle and will be further looked at by team doctors. He finished with 12 points on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting from the field prior to leaving with his injury.
Analysis: Gray played very well during Game 1 and gave New Orleans unexpected points in the paint against both of L.A.'s 7-footers. It appears Gray's injury looked worse than it really is, as the Hornets are calling it just a mild sprain. Owners may want to continue to monitor the situation moving forward as it seems odd Gray would have to be carried off the court with a "mild sprain". New Orleans was counting on getting at least 20 minutes a game out of the 26-year-old in this series to try and counter some of the Lakers size. However, that will now depend on the severity of the injury. Stay tuned to see if the big man will in fact be able to suit up for Game 2, which is scheduled for Wednesday night. Gray normally doesn't get a ton of minutes, which makes him more of a low-end option in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: New Orleans center Aaron Gray only took a handful of shots in Thursday's win over the Jazz, but he made plays when his team needed it most after David West injured his knee. He scored six of his 10 points in overtime, making clutch foul shots in the process. "Aaron Gray was unbelievable for us," teammate Chris Paul said. "They tried to foul him and he went to the line, knocked two down, went back to the line, knocked another two down. We could have laid down when we lost D-West, but we saw it as an opportunity to lift one of our brothers up." Gray added eight rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes of playing time in the win.
Analysis: Gray saw more playing time Thursday than in any game in March thus far. He averages just 12.5 minutes per game on the year, but that number may be on the rise with West out for an indefinite period of time at this point. The 7-footer made some athletic plays inside when the team needed it most to go along with the free throws, so the situation should be monitored moving forward. Fantasy owners may want to take a flier on Gray if his minutes increase significantly enough to make this kind of impact night in, night out.
News: Despite starting for the Hornets, center Aaron Gray hasn't been taking advantage of his minutes. He saw just 15 minutes of court time on Tuesday night against the Warriors and went 2 for 4 from the field. Gray finished with four points, a block and just four rebounds. The Hornets would end up losing to the Warriors, 102-89.
Analysis: Gray has been getting around 24 minutes a game with Emeka Okafor sidelined, but he's not doing a whole lot with this opportunity. If anything else it's showing how important Okafor is to the team. Gray is averaging 6.3 points and 7.7 boards over his last 10 games. He's also shooting 63.3 percent from the field. His inconsistency and short run as the starter aren't worth bothering with in Fantasy leagues. He should be ignored in the majority of formats.
News: New Orleans center Aaron Gray registered four points and eight rebounds in the Hornets' 104-92 loss to Minnesota on Monday night. Gray, who was in the starting lineup for the injured Emeka Okafor, knocked down 2 of 4 shots from the field and missed both of his free-throw attempts. He logged 17 minutes as New Orleans utilized a rotation of big men trying to slow Timberwolves star Kevin Love.
Analysis: Gray is one of several players the Hornets are using to replace Okafor, but he struggled to create shot opportunities on Monday. He is a marginal Fantasy producer and has reached double digits in scoring just once this season. Gray is posting 6.3 points in his last four games but his highest value is in rebounding where he is averaging 7.3 boards in the same span. He could make for a sleeper option with Okafor out, but his inconsistency will drive Fantasy owners away. Leave him on waivers.
News: The New Orleans Times Picayune reports that Hornets F/C Jason Smith was able to practice on Sunday and is expected to play in Monday's game against Minnesota. Smith missed Saturday's game against the Lakers due to flu-like symptoms. In Smith's absence, Aaron Gray was given a chance to start in place of the injured Emeka Okafor against the Lakers. Gray was productive, picking up 10 points and 10 rebounds
Analysis: Gray might have earned himself more playing time even with Smith back. The Hornets will look to get contributions from Gray, Smith and David Andersen while Okafor is out. Each is a potential sleeper for cheap help off the waiver wire, but inconsistency is to be expected.
News: Hornets C Aaron Gray, who has been missing for New Orleans since Jan. 21 with a high ankle sprain, was active on Tuesday against Washington. The Hornets just lost center Emeka Okafor for 1-3 weeks and Gray was able to participate in shootaround before the game. The Hornets had Jason Smith, D.J. Mbenga, David Andersen and Gray available in the post, with Smith starting and playing well. "He's not 100 percent," Williams said of Gray before the game. "But nobody is. This is the time where you have to give it up." Gray ended up playing 15 minutes and shot 2 for 2 from the field to score four points. He added eight rebounds to tie for the team lead and also chipped in a block and a steal.
Analysis: Okafor is only going to be out for 1-3 weeks and with Gray returning from his own long-term absence, we doubt he's going to have enough time to find a rhythm and get comfortable enough for the Hornets to make a difference in Fantasy. He did rebound well on Tuesday, but was overshadowed by Smith's performance. Despite the eight boards, we doubt Gray is going to be worth adding to any Fantasy rosters.
News: New Orleans center Aaron Gray is expected to be out two to three weeks with a high ankle sprain, according to the team's official website. Gray is averaging just 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game this season.
Analysis: Gray rarely gets off the bench for the Hornets, which doesn't give him much Fantasy value. Even when he's 100 percent owners should ignore Gray in all formats.
News: New Orleans center Aaron Gray will miss the Hornets' game against Atlanta on Friday with a high ankle sprain. Gray is averaging just 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game this season.
Analysis: Gray has rarely gotten off the bench for New Orleans this season and has played more than 10 minutes in a game just twice. The fourth-year center is averaging just 7.5 minutes per game and should remain unowned in all Fantasy formats.
News: New Orleans center Aaron Gray is out of action for the Hornets with a high ankle sprain, according to the team's official website.
Analysis: Gray doesn't play much for the Hornets as he's averaging just 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in about seven minutes a game. He's only made it into 10 contests this year, which gives Gray no Fantasy value. Continue to ignore him in all formats.
News: Hornets center Aaron Gray made one field goal, grabbed two boards and had two assists on Friday against the Pacers. He played 16 minutes, but he committed more turnovers (four) and fouls (five) than any other stat.
Analysis: Gray has averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game over his first three years in the league. He is just a bench player for New Orleans and should be ignored on Draft Day.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Hornets C Aaron Gray came off the bench to grab a team-high 11 rebounds Saturday against the Jazz. He hadn't pulled down more than eight rebounds in a game this season.
Analysis: Gray is averaging just 4.8 points per game and 12 minutes of playing time over his last five contests. He has minimal Fantasy value and can be ignored in all formats at this time.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor had 10 points Wednesday against Memphis but grabbed only one rebound and played only 15 minutes, in part because of foul trouble and in part because reserve Aaron Gray earned 20 minutes of action season-highs of seven points and eight rebounds.
Analysis: Even with the addition playing time Gray still has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him ins most leagues.
News: The Hornets acquired C Aaron Gray from the Bulls on Monday in exchange for guard Devin Brown, reports the Hornets' official Web site.
Analysis: Gray, in his third year in the NBA out of Pitt, is averaging 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in eight games with the Bulls this season. The 7-footer has career averages of 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, having played in 125 games. He really has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray made his season debut on Thursday against the Jazz. He played seven minutes, scored a point and pulled down a rebound. Gray had been out with a leg injury.
Analysis: Gray is just a backup center with the Bulls and does not need to be picked up off waivers until he is playing a bigger role with the team.
News: The Chicago Bulls have confirmed that third-year center Aaron Gray has sustained a leg injury and is likely to be out for 6 to 8 weeks. The Bulls said Tuesday that Gray had developed lower leg pain over the previous two days. He was examined by team physician Dr. Brian Cole of Midwest Orthopedics at Rush University Medical Center, who determined that he had a stress fracture of his left fibula. The diagnosis was confirmed by MRI.
Analysis: The injury will keep him out until at least November at this stage and it is possible he could miss the entire first month of the season. Gray plays a backup role, however, and does not have much Fantasy appeal.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Bulls C Aaron Gray was effective given more playing time against Toronto, created because Joakim Noah fouled out in just 14 minutes. Gray had seven points and a team-high seven rebounds, while the Raptors outscored the Bulls by 17 after Gray came out with 6:50 remaining.
Analysis: Gray has been in and out of the Bulls' starting lineup as Drew Gooden continues to get injured this season. Even when he does start, Gray's appeal in Fantasy is limited and shouldn't be starting in any leagues. Leave him on waivers.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray scored nine points and grabbed five boards on Tuesday night. It was great production considering that Gray played just 13 minutes. He shot 4-for-4 from the field and blocked a shot.
Analysis: Gray hadn't even played in three games before Tuesday's effort. Unless this becomes the norm and not just a sporadic thing, Gray is not recommended in almost any Fantasy leagues.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray scored 10 points and added nine boards in one of his best games of the season for the Bulls on Saturday in a loss to Minnesota. Gray was 4-of-9 from the field.
Analysis: Gray is starting for Chicago with Drew Gooden out with injury and that alone makes him worth taking a flier on in deeper leagues at a weak position. His nice outing on Saturday is another reason. Think about taking a flier on him in those formats, but don't expect him to turn in a double-double every night. Saturday was probably the best you can expect.
News: With Drew Gooden sidelined due to an ankle injury, Aaron Gray got a start at center Friday in Miami. He scored 12 points and added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
Analysis: Gooden is going to be out for another week or so, meaning that Gray will have some appeal as a short-term Fantasy stopgap in leagues that start two centers. Think about taking a flier on him in those formats, but don't expect him to turn in a double-double every night.
News: The Bulls will play the Milwaukee Bucks (Oct. 28), the Boston Celtics (Oct. 31) and the Memphis Grizzlies (Nov. 1) in Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov.2) of the Fantasy Basketball season.
Analysis: The Bulls are dealing with several injuries entering the season, some major and some minor. Luol Deng was held out of the final game of the preseason as well with a stiff back and sore toe, but he should be in the starting lineup for the opener as well. Reserve forward Tyrus Thomas has a swollen ankle and while he should play, is not a recommended starter in Fantasy this week. He has to find somewhere to fit in alongside Joakim Noah and Drew Gooden. Consider players like Noah, Hinrich and Gooden viable low-end starters this week. Let role players like Andres Nocioni, Thabo Sefolosha and Aaron Gray prove their worth before considering them.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray appeared in 61 games as a rookie, averaging 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in those games. He started one game, on April 16 against Toronto, and had an outstanding performance with 19 points and 22 rebounds.
Analysis: Gray didn't get many chances to play with the Bulls having so many choices in the front court. Fantasy owners should keep the one game in mind and think about taking a late-round flier on him in 2008-09 in the hopes that he'll find his way into more playing time.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray played just 13 minutes as a backup to Joakim Noah Friday against Denver in the team's first game since trading starting center Ben Wallace. He shot only 2-for-7 from the field and chipped in 5 rebounds with 4 points.
Analysis: It appears the plan for the Bulls is for Noah to start with Gray as the backup. For now, Gray's Fantasy value remains limited, but he is worth a flier in deeper leagues because he is could become the starter if Noah falters and was productive for a short stint earlier this season as a starter.
News: The Cavaliers acquired center Ben Wallace and forward Wally Szczerbiak in a three-way trade involving 11 players that was completed shortly before Thursday's deadline. The Cavaliers sent guard Larry Hughes, forwards Drew Gooden and Cedric Simmons, and guard Shannon Brown to Chicago for Wallace and forward Joe Smith. Cleveland acquired Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West from Seattle for forwards Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall. He also gets Chicago's second-round pick in 2009. The SuperSonics will also receive guard Adrian Griffin from the Bulls. All of these moves could result in more playing time for Aaron Gray.
Analysis: What does this mean for Gray? It should mean more playing time for him as the team should split time with Joakim Noah at the center spot. This could only be good news for Gray, who had a very positive stint at center earlier in the season due to injuries. Take a flier on him.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray scored four points and grabbed one rebound in seven minutes off the bench Thursday against the Heat. He has just six points in his last two games after recording 20 in his previous three.
Analysis: The rookie out of Pittsburgh has potential. He checks in at 7-0, 270 pounds and could have a bright future in the NBA. But for now, he is a reserve for the Bulls and has little to no Fantasy value outside deeper keeper leagues.
News: Low-scoring rookie center Aaron Gray had 14 in Chicago's third-highest scoring game of the season Monday against Seattle. Gray also added four rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: Gray has potential at 7-0, 270 pounds but he doesn't get enough playing time. Continue to use him as a low-end Fantasy option and hope for more chances to put up outings like this.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray hit both of his field goal attempts and all three free throws on his way to seven points Tuesday against the Timberwolves. Gray had managed just two points in his previous four games.

News: Chicago center Aaron Gray had 12 points and four rebounds Tuesday against the Knicks. He played in 10 minutes off the bench and hit 5-of-6 shots.
Analysis: This was Gray's first double-digit output in his past six games. He just doesn't get enough playing time to warrant consistent Fantasy use in the majority of leagues.
News: Bulls C Ben Wallace (foot) returned to action Saturday vs. Houston. He was able to start, returning Aaron Gray to the bench.
Analysis: With Big Ben back, Gray returns to being less that desirable able in Fantasy play. He did play well in Wallace's absence, though, and should be kept in mind should he be put in that situation again.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray had 14 points with six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block while starting in place of Ben Wallace again Friday at Boston.
Analysis: Gray is getting good amount of minutes with Ben Wallace sidelined due to injury. His Fantasy appeal will peak for perhaps another game or two, but it will be short lived.
News: Bulls C Aaron Gray had 10 points and 10 rebounds in Wednesday's win at Washington. He shot 4-for-6 from the field with five assists.
Analysis: Gray got a good amount of minutes with Ben Wallace sidelined due to injury. His Fantasy appeal will peak for perhaps another game or two, but it will be short lived.
News: Bulls rookie C Aaron Gray played a career-high 20 minutes off the bench Tuesday against the Lakers, scoring eight points and pulling down six rebounds.
Analysis: If the Bulls played him more, Gray might have some Fantasy value in deeper leagues as a scorer and rebounder. Having appeared in only 11 contests, though, he has no Fantasy value.
News: The Bulls expected first-round pick Joakim Noah to contribute this year, but second-round center Aaron Gray turned out to be the biggest surprise of preseason, according to The Sports Xchange. When Gray turned in two strong performances right away, coach Scott Skiles responded, "You're a fool if you marry yourself to a rookie after two exhibition games." Just over a week later, Gray was in the starting lineup for a pair of contests.
Analysis: The 7-footer from Pittsburgh finished preseason averaging 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds. What Gray does best is simply play like a big man. He grabs rebounds, makes opponents shoot over him and has a textbook hook shot. Look for Gray to get playing time right away as the Bulls search for anyone who can provide some easy baskets down low. He could also qualify at power forward by season's end, and that versatility gives him value as a reserve in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Bulls rookie C Aaron Gray scored 14 to lead his team in a 92-82 loss at Toronto on Friday. He shot 4-of-5 from the floor and also had three rebounds, two assists and a turnover.
Analysis: The Bulls selected Gray, a 7-foot, 270-pound center out of Pittsburgh, with the 49th pick overall. He averaged a team-high 13.9 points and 9.5 rebounds as a first-team all-Big East, and the way he's played so far this preseason, he's probably earned himself consideration in the Bulls rotation. Then again, with Ben Wallace and Joakim Noah around, don't invest much in Gray in Fantasy.
News: Rookie center Aaron Gray scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds for Chicago in Friday's preseason win vs. Dallas.
Analysis: The Bulls selected Gray, a 7-foot, 270-pound center out of Pittsburgh, with the 49th pick overall. Gray averaged a team-high 13.9 points and 9.5 rebounds and was first-team all-Big East. He should be considered little more than a late-round flier in Fantasy leagues despite the nice preseason performance. Ben Wallace only played 19 minutes Friday.
