by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/21/2015) Nets general manager Billy King said Friday that the team will attempt to keep newly-acquired forward Thaddeus Young, who can opt out of the final year of his deal after this season, beyond 2015, ESPNNewYork.com reports.

"I know he can opt out but we’re going to do our best to try to keep him here," King said before his team delivered a 114-105 win over the Lakers in Los Angeles Friday.

Young acknowledged that the Nets have been trying to land him for some time.

"You hear the rumors and you hear the talk and I’m always prepared for anything. I know the business and understand the business. I’ve been playing going on eight years so I understand," Young said.

Young entered Friday's win off the bench and played 12 minutes in his debut, scoring eight points on 4 of 8 shooting while tallying four rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Wolves acquire Kevin Garnett from Nets

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/19/2015) Nets forward Kevin Garnett has accepted the trade that will send him to the Timberwolves for forward Thaddeus Young, reports CBSSPorts.com NBA Insider Ken Berger. Minnesota announced the deal Thursday night.

Garnett, 38, had to agree to waive his no-trade clause in order for the trade to proceed. With Garnett now a member of the Timberwovles, the team will try to sign Garnett to a two-year extension, a source told the Associated Press.

Garnett spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the Timberwolves, but was traded to the Celtics in the summer of 2007. He went on to win his only championship during his first season in Boston.

"We are excited to have Kevin Garnett back in Minnesota and playing for the Timberwolves," said Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders. "When people think of the Timberwolves they think of KG. He had some great years for us and our organization and fans really respect what he's done here in Minnesota and throughout his NBA career. KG will bring his usual strong work ethic and leadership and be a positive influence for our young team."

Garnett's first action back with the Timberwolves will come Wednesday against the Wizards, coach Flip Saunders said Thursday.

Report: Timberwolves making push to land Nets' Kevin Garnett

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/18/2015) The Timberwolves are making a late push to acquire Nets power forward Kevin Garnett before Thursday's trade deadline, ESPN.com reports.

Garnett, 38, spent his first 12 seasons with Minnesota, making 10 All-Star appearances while with the team. He was traded to the Celtics in the summer of 2007 and went on to win his first championship in his first season in Boston.

Garnett averaged 20.5 points and 11.4 rebounds during his time with the Timberwolves. He has averaged just 6.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 42 games with the Nets this season.

Young, 26, has averaged 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 48 games since joining Minnesota last offseason in the deal that saw Kevin Love sent to the Cavaliers.

Timberwolves F Thaddeus Young could get the green light to take more threes

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/2/2014) Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders could give forward Thaddeus Young the green light to shoot more 3-pointers this season, according to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press on Thursday.

Young told reporters he didn't shoot as many threes as he would like in the past because he had a different role with the 76ers under Phil Collins from 2010-13. He only took 34 attempts from 3-point territory over that span. Last season under Brett Brown, he connected on 30.8 percent (90 of 292) of his treys.

"I kind of just took it out of my game completely because I was with (Collins) so much," Young said. "It's one of the things where you do what the coach says and continue to play."

Young averaged a career-best 17.9 points on 45.4 percent shooting from the field in 2013-14. He added 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 79 games.

Report: Wolves to swap Anthony Bennett for Thaddeus Young

by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(8/8/2014) Though the trade can't go official until August 23, the deal reportedly struck between the Cavaliers and Timberwolves will lead to another trade between Minnesota and the 76ers.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported early Friday that Minnesota, upon receiving Anthony Bennett from the Cavs as part of the Kevin Love trade, would then trade him for Thaddeus Young. The Timberwolves have been showing interest in Young since Love stated his desire to be traded.

Meanwhile, the 76ers want to move Young because he's entering his prime at age 26 and only has one additional year left on his contract. Acquiring Bennett would complete a core of young talent to develop over the coming years. Young was one of the most productive forwards in the league last year playing in Brett Brown's up-tempo offense, averaging 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. Bennett, on the other hand, failed to make any impact what so ever but did show signs of growth during the Summer League.

Thaddeus Young struggling with expanded role

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/16/2014) 76ers forward Thaddeus Young has seen his efficiency take a big hit recently, while playing the largest offensive role of his career. Young did manage to turn that around a bit, finishing with more points than field-goal attempts for the first time in four games Saturday against the Grizzlies.

Young wasn't particularly efficient in the game, scoring 20 points on 8 of 19 shooting, but that was an improvement from the previous night when he had 31 field-goal attempts and finished with just 25 points. He filled up the box score well overall Saturday as well, finishing with seven rebounds, three assists and six steals in the 103-77 loss.

Young is enjoying the most productive season of his career by a decent margin, but the added responsibility seems to be taking a toll recently, With the 76ers bereft of NBA talent, Young is shooting just 39.2 percent from the field while averaging 18.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in the month of March.
