Young, who has been sidelined since Feb. 4 with a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring, was able to do some shooting and run on the elliptical machine. Hopefully, the timetable is a little shorter than it was supposed to be and I can come back on the court sooner rather than later, Young said. I just want to get back on the court helping my teammates. It sucks to be out there watching.
Analysis: Collins admitted that Young is "farther along than I thought," which is a very encouraging sign that the 24-year-old could be back on the court sooner rather than later. However, the best-case scenario for his return would be Sunday night at New York, so owners should plan on keeping him reserved for at least one more week. News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young will be sidelined for the next three weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, the team announced Tuesday. Young underwent an MRI on Tuesday after leaving Monday's game against Orlando in the second quarter with the injury. The procedure confirmed he will be out until at least the end of the month. "It's bad news, man," 76ers guard Nick Young said Monday. "Thad's one of our anchors on our team. Lose him for a couple of games while we're trying to make a push, it's tough." Lavoy Allen is expected to receive a boost in playing time during Young's absence.

"It felt like a rubber band popping," he said about this injury. Young had started all 47 games for Philadelphia this year -- matching his total from the previous three seasons combined. If there was a silver lining to the injury, it comes with the NBA All-Star break on the horizon so he won't miss too many games while parked on the sideline. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in all formats at this point.
News: 76ers coach Doug Collins told reporters following Monday's contest against the Magic that forward Thaddeus Young will "be out for a while" with his strained left hamstring. He remained on the court for several minutes before being escorted back to the locker room by team trainers. Young finished with six points and five rebounds prior to leaving the contest and he is scheduled to undergo a MRI on Tuesday. "Thad's the one guy on our team that will dive for those loose balls," Collins said. "He lays himself out and, unfortunately, he got hurt on that play."
Analysis: Everyone knows hamstring injuries can be a bit tricky to return from and based on coach Collins' initial statement, it sounds like the 76ers are expecting Young to miss some time moving forward. This would be a huge blow to Philadelphia as well as Fantasy owners as Young is averaging 15.7 points and a career-best 7.5 rebounds, while starting all 47 of the 76ers' games at power forward. Lavoy Allen replaced Young in the lineup Monday night and will likely see the majority of the minutes at the four-spot in his absence. Analysis: Young provides the Sixers with dynamic scoring off the bench, however part of coming off the bench is sometimes it is tough to get into the flow of the game like that. Young isnt the most consistent player in the league, and the Sixers depth and lack of emphasis on any one player contributes to that. Still, Young is averaging 12.6 points over his last five games despite the two subpar games, right in line with his season averages. Young is more of a mid-level Fantasy option due to his inconsistency, but owners should feel comfortable keeping him in the lineup moving forward.

Analysis: Young is not a consistent scorer for Philadelphia off the bench. He can drop 20 on any given night, but he can just as easily score in single digits. He's not a 3-point shooter and is just a low-end rebounder. Young has his good weeks and bad weeks, but is mainly a consistent viable Fantasy option in leagues with more than 12 teams.

He scored 19 points and hauled in eight rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, in the 98-82 win. He went 7 for 12 from the field and made 5 of 6 free throws while playing 27 minutes. Young also chipped in with a steal, and assist and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Young continues to be one of the more valuable pieces off the bench for the 76ers as he can score, rebound and play defense in the second unit. He is averaging 11.4 points with 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals in his last five contests, and is shooting 50 percent over that span. While he would likely be more productive as a starter, Young remains a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: 76ers F Thaddeus Young did not seem bothered much by his back injury on Friday, scoring 10 points as the Sixers defeated the Bobcats 89-72. Young, who averages 26.9 minutes per game on average this season, logged 24 minutes in the win, and likely could have seen more time if the Sixers didnt have a 26 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Young was efficient, making 5 of 7 from the field, while grabbing four rebounds in the game.
Analysis: Young has now been held to under 20 points in four straight games after scoring 20-plus points in consecutive contests on Jan. 18 and Jan. 20. Young is averaging 12.3 points per game, but his rebounding is down to 4.5 boards per contest. Young is more of a mid-level Fantasy start as long as the Sixers continue to limit his minutes.
News: PhillyBurbs.com reports 76ers coach Doug Collins said forward Thaddeus Young "feels a lot better today" after Young strained his back in the fourth quarter Wednesday against the Nets.
Analysis: Young has been held to under 20 points in three straight games after scoring 20-plus points in consecutive contests on Jan. 18 and Jan. 20. Young is averaging 12.4 points per game, but his rebounding is down to 4.6 boards per contest. Young is more of a mid-level Fantasy start when healthy.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young left briefly on Wednesday night with a lower back injury but would return to the game. Young even made a diving save late in the game, keeping his team's possession alive. He finished the game shooting 5-for-9 from the field for 10 points. Young added five boards, two assists and made two steals in his 27 minutes off the bench. The 76ers would lose to the Nets in overtime, 97-90.
Analysis: Young should be fine moving forward as he continued to play through his back pain. Philly has a day off before taking the court again on Friday, so he might not miss any time. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on him though because the 76ers play three times in four days, so he may be limited in at least one of those contests. When healthy, Young should be considered a low-end forward option in most 12-team standard leagues. He's averaging 14.4 points and 4.4 boards over his last five contests.
News: Philadelphia SF Thaddeus Young played well over 26 minutes on Monday night in a blowout victory over the Wizards. Young shot 5 of 10 from the field and scored 14 points in the performance. He added seven rebounds, four assists and a block for the Sixers in the win.
Analysis: Young had back-to-back 20-point games last week but has totaled just 20 points in his last two games for the Sixers. He has not been consistent this season with his scoring, though he's averaging just over 12 points per game. That comes with 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals. He has marginal Fantasy value mostly in deeper formats.
News: After scoring just two points his last time out, 76ers F Thaddeus Young got back on track in a big way in Wednesday's game against the Nuggets. He finished with a season-high 22 points and hauled in seven rebounds in the 108-104 overtime loss. He went 11 for 22 from the floor but missed his lone free throw while playing 38 minutes off the bench. Young also chipped in with two asssits and a steal in the defeat.
Analysis: Young continues to see solid minutes off the bench on a nightly basis and is averaging 12.4 points with four rebounds and 1.6 steals in his last five games. He is also shooting 42 percent from the floor over that span. While his numbers have taken a slight dip from seasons past, Young remains a viable low-end option in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia SF Thaddeus Young played well over 30 minutes off the bench on Wednesday night during a loss to New York. Young shot 6 of 16 from the field to score 12 points. Young added four rebounds, two steals and a block for the 76ers in the losing effort.
Analysis: Young consistently scores in double figures for Philadelphia as he's averaging just over 12 points per game both for the year and over his last five contests. He has been about as consistent as they come for Philadelphia thus far this year. Unfortunately, he's just consistent mediocre. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end Fantasy option for 10- and 12-team leagues. He's more mid-range in deeper formats.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young entered Friday's contest with Detroit with a sprained hand (non-shooting), but he didn't let that slow him down. He shot 7 of 11 from the field and connected on 50 percent of his foul shots. Young finished with 15 points and seven rebounds in his 27 minutes on the court. Young added a block and a steal in the 96-73 win.
Analysis: Young doesn't start for Philly, but has a key role off the bench. He has scored in double figures in five of his team's first six games this season. While he's not dominate in any one category, Young is averaging 12.4 points, 4.8 boards and 1.4 steals in around 27 minutes per game. As long as he stays healthy, Young should be considered a low-end forward option in most formats.
News: 76ers SF Thaddeus Young sprained the third and fourth metacarpal joint in his right (non-shooting) hand Wednesday against the Hornets, but he is expected to play Friday against the Pistons.
Analysis: Young has scored in double figures in four of five games this season. He is averaging 12.4 points per game, which is just under his 12.7 average from 2010-11. Still, Young is not a player that fills up the stat sheet on a nightly basis, so he remains a low-end Fantasy start when healthy.
News: Philadelphia SF Thaddeus Young came off the bench for 29 minutes on Wednesday night in a win over the Hornets. Young played a crucial role in the victory as he shot 5 of 12 from the field and scored 10 points off the bench. Young added four rebounds, three assists and two steals in his all-around performance.
Analysis: Young has shot 12 for 24 (50 percent) over his last two games and is averaging 14 points per contest in those games. Young is a decent rebounder for a small forward, but his numbers aren't consistent enough for starts in 12-team leagues just yet. Young does have plenty of use in deeper formats, however.
News: 76ers F Thaddeus Young had an efficient game off the bench on Wednesday night against the Suns. He scored 15 points and hauled in five rebounds in the 103-83 win. He went 7 for 14 from the floor and made his lone free throw attempt. Young played 26 minutes in the victory.
Analysis: Young has been a valuable wingman off the bench for Philadelphia the last few seasons and can help Fantasy owners in both scoring and rebounding. He is also a decent defender and should average at least a steal per game. While he would likely produce more with a larger role, he remains productive enough to consider as a viable option in most Fantasy formats at this point.
News: The Sixers were confident they'd have restricted free agent F Thaddeus Young back for the 2011-12 season. Team president Rod Thorn said the plan was to match any "reasonable" offer. "I was so scared that somebody was going to throw some ridiculously crazy money out there at him," said Sixers coach Doug Collins. The Nuggets talked to Young, but, much to Collins' relief, there was no offer. The Sixers were able to lock Young up for $43 million over five years on the first day of training camp.
Analysis: Young, 23, found a new level of efficiency in 2010-11, as his points per game dropped from a career high of 15.3 in 2008-09 to 12.7, but he upped his field-goal percentage to .541, a career high. Young saw his minutes-per game tumble to 26, as the 76ers used him as their bench dynamo. His per-minute production was better than ever across-the board, but for Fantasy purposes, it did hurt his value to see him sitting almost half of the game. Things arent likely to change for the Sixers, as they found a successful formula last season. Young is a breakout candidate because of his skill set, but he likely wont get the opportunities to truly break out. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option on Draft Day.
News: Restricted free agent Thaddeus Young is close to agreeing to a deal that would keep him in Philadelphia long-term, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Young has spent the first four years of his career in Philadelphia, and last year became one of the NBAs top sixth men as the Sixers used him in smaller spurts off the bench.

News: The Denver Nuggets reportedly met with free agent small forward Thaddeus Young on Monday, according to CBSSports.com. The meeting apparently went well. That said, Philadelphia has the opportunity to match any offer that Young receives.
Analysis: Philadelphia would only want to match an offer if the team deems it "reasonable." For that reason, Young could very well end up with Denver. Denver needs players badly and Young could slot into the rotation as Danilo Gallinari's backup. Young averaged 12.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 54.1 percent from the field last year over 82 games with Philadelphia. Young is a good source of points and rebounds and should be taken in the later rounds of Fantasy drafts.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the 76ers will tender a qualifying offer to forward Thaddeus Young. The offer can be extended any time now, but the team is expecting to get it done by the middle of this week. This is a slightly complicated process, but what happens is that once the Sixers tender a qualifying offer, the team earns the right to match any offer made to the player in the free agent market. Young's qualifying offer is approximately $3.99 million.
Analysis: Young played well this past season and will enter 2011-12 as a solid Fantasy option, especially as a key member for the 76ers rotation. He is worth drafting with a late-round pick on Draft Day, and we expect Young to be good source of points and rebounds.
News: According to phillyburbs.com, the 76ers will give forward Thaddeus Young a $4 million qualifying offer, according to GM Rod Thorn. Young solidified the bench, bouncing back from a disappointing third season to finish third in the NBA Sixth Man of the Year balloting. "Hopefully, we can get something worked out so I can come back next season," Young said.
Analysis: Young played well this past season and will enter 2011-12 as a solid Fantasy option, especially as a key member for the 76ers rotation. He is worth drafting with a late-round pick on Draft Day, and we expect Young to be good source of points and rebounds.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that 76ers reserve forward Thaddeus Young said his sore groin, which he hurt last Monday in Chicago, is improving. "It's better, a lot better," Young said Tuesday. "I tweaked it a little bit our last game [Saturday in Milwaukee], but not too bad.'' Young had eight points and six rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench Tuesday night at Boston.
Analysis: As long as Young is healthy then Fantasy owners should consider him a quality option in the majority of leagues. The 76ers will likely continue to rely on him with heavy minutes down the stretch with Lou Williams (hamstring) out, and look for Young to play well.
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young scored a team-high 22 points on Friday night against the Nets, clinching a playoff berth. Nets coach Avery Johnson called Young, one of the top sixth men in the NBA, the Sixers' MVP. It'd be tough to argue the forward who has blossomed under coach Doug Collins. He's scored at least 21 points in each of the last three games. Young shot 9 for 12 from the floor and nailed all four of his foul shots. He added five rebounds and three steals in his 24 minutes off the bench. Philly would beat New Jersey, 115-90.
Analysis: Despite dealing with a hip injury earlier in the week, Young has been able to play through it for Philly. Over his last five outings he's averaging 16.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest, while shooting 54.3 percent from the field. Fantasy owners in all formats where Young is owned should continue to keep him active, as he's developed into a solid forward option.
News: The Sixers report Friday that forward Thaddeus Young (right adductor strain) is expected to play Friday night against the Nets. Young was able to play Wednesday against Houston after he was hurt Monday.
Analysis: Keep Young active in all Fantasy leagues since is probably an injury he will have for the rest of the year. Young has played well down the stretch, and he should be considered a quality Fantasy option in all formats as long as he's active.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young injured his hip on Monday night, but was able to play through any pain he had on Wednesday. Young scored 22 points for the 76ers in his 33 minutes of action. He shot 11 for 19 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds. "I feel great and am playing with a lot more confidence," Young told The Philadelphia Inquirer. He also added a steal in Philly's 108-97 win over Houston. Young scored the first two baskets during a decisive 10-2 spurt early in the fourth. His short hook late in the game put the Sixers up 102-90 and secured their second straight victory against a team with a winning record. "We have a lot of guys who can come off the bench and score at will," Young said. "We don't need guys to come in and score 20."
Analysis: Besides one hiccup over his last five games, Young has been playing extremely well. He's averaging 15.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals per outing over that span. With him playing this well and Philly in the playoff picture, Fantasy owners in deeper leagues should keep him active. He's a quality sixth-man and well worth using the remainder of the season.
News: The Sixers reports Wednesday that forward Thaddeus Young (right adductor strain) is listed as probable and expected to play Wednesday night against the Rockets. Young was injured Monday night at Chicago.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should keep Young active, and hopefully he doesn't suffer a setback with the injury. Young is a solid player for the Sixers and a quality Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: The Sixers report that forward Thaddeus Young (right adductor strain) received treatment Tuesday and is officially listed as a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Houston. Young was injured during Monday's win against the Rockets when he appeared to have his foot slip from under him, causing a split-like fall. I thought he blew out his knee when he slipped on the floor, Collins told the Daily News. It scared me to death."
Analysis: Young is a solid player for the Sixers and a quality Fantasy option in the majority of leagues. Hopefully he can play against the Rockets on Wednesday, but Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution in case the Sixers decide to rest him with the playoff approaching.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young scored just four points in the 76ers' 114-111 overtime loss to Sacramento on Sunday. Young knocked down just 2 of 11 (18.2 percent) shots from the field -- the first time he's missed at least nine shots in a game since Jan. 17 against Charlotte (12). It was also just his second occasion of the season he has connected on less than 20 percent of his attempts. The Georgia Tech product also recorded a rebound and an assist while logging just 18 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Young's struggles during the middle of the month seemed to vanish when he finished with double digits in points during his last three games prior to Sunday's lackluster outing. It was Young's lowest point total since he was held scoreless against Milwaukee on March 12, and his third single-digit output in his last six games. He could start to lose playing time as Philadelphia coach Doug Collins tries to get a rotation set for the playoffs. Consider him an inconsistent option in most Fantasy formats during the Fantasy playoffs.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young scored in double figures for the eight straight game Friday against Minnesota. He shot 8 of 13 from the floor on his way to 16 points. He complimented the scoring with eight rebounds -- four on each end of the floor -- on the night with a pair of blocks and steals on the defensive end. Young also assisted on two baskets in 33 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Young has been mostly a scorer on the year with a handful of rebounds on average, but Friday he was an all-around threat on both ends of the floor. It was the first time he blocked two shots in a game since January. Young has all the athleticism you want in a forward, and he's blossoming into a consistent player on the resurgent Sixers, who actually seem destined for playoff basketball after a 3-13 start to the season. He is a big reason why, off of the bench, and things don't seem like they will revert back to sloppy ball for Philly. Young is in the middle of the turnaround, and he deserves mid-range Fantasy status in all formats moving forward.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds in the 76ers' 117-94 victory over Washington on Wednesday night. Young drained 5 of 7 shots from the field and a perfect 8 of 8 from the free-throw line to post his second double-double of the season and first since Dec. 7, 2010 against Cleveland. The fourth-year Georgia Tech product contributed two steals for Philadelphia, which won for the fourth time in its last five games.
Analysis: Young continues to post solid offensive totals and has now handily topped his season average (12.1 ppg) in the last four games. He is averaging 19.5 points in that span and connected on at least 56 percent of his shots. Young matched guard Evan Turner for the most minutes (26) off the bench Wednesday as he collects close to 25 minutes on a nightly basis. Fantasy owners should utilize him as a viable scoring option -- when consistent -- in deeper leagues.
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young turned in one of his better offensive performances of the season in Tuesday's 102-91 loss to the Grizzlies. Young scored 23 points in the contest on 9 of 16 shooting from the field. He went 5 of 7 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with five rebounds, and a block in 27 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Young has now scored a combined 41 points over his last two games after scoring a combined 11 in the two before. He has provided the 76ers with some decent scoring and rebounding of the bench this season, but his production is very streaky. Until he can produce on a consistent basis, Young should continue to be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option.
News: After scoring in single digits each of his last two games, Philadelphia F Thaddeus Young was able to get back on track Saturday night against Minnesota. He scored 18 points and hauled in three rebounds in the 107-87 win. He was 9 of 13 from the field and played 28 minutes off the bench. Young also had two assists and a steal in the victory. He is averaging 12.2 points over his last five contests.
Analysis: Young has provided the 76ers with some decent scoring and rebounding of the bench this season and continues to see solid minutes. He is seeing 25.4 minutes over his last five contests and is chipping in with 5.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and one steal. While he doesn't offer much in the form of 3-point shooting, Young is making nearly 54 percent of his shots from the floor on the year. Continue to view Young as a solid low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats heading into Week 17 (Feb. 14-20).
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young turned in another solid performance in Tuesday's 117-83 win over the Hawks. Young scored 16 points in the victory, on 6 of 14 shooting from the field. He went 4 of 5 at the free-throw line and finished with eight rebounds, two steals and an assist in 23 minutes off the bench. Young has now scored in double figures in four of his last five games.
Analysis: Young has been playing much better of late. The 22-year-old is averaging 13.0 points over his last five contests and is shooting 57 percent from the field over that stretch. He continues to be team's primary option off the bench and has been seeing around 26 minutes a game. Continue to view Young as a solid low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats moving forward.
News: After scoring a combined 19 points in his last two contests, 76ers F Thaddeus Young had a big game on Sunday against the Nuggets. He scored 21 points and hauled in seven rebounds in the 110-99 win. He was an efficient 10 of 12 from the field and made 1 of 2 free throws while playing 32 minutes off the bench. Young also chipped in with two blocked shots, a steal and an assist in the victory.
Analysis: Young's scoring has been sporadic this season but he showed on Sunday what he can do when given solid minutes. He is averaging 13.2 points with 5.4 rebounds and two steals over his last five contests, and is shooting 62 percent from the field over that span. The 22-year-old should continue to see solid playing time off the bench for Philadelphia should be in for a solid upcoming scoring period. He plays the Nets and Knicks twice in Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) so continue to view Young as a low-end option in larger formats.
News: 76ers F Thaddeus Young has his best performance in weeks on Monday night against the Suns. He scored 24 points and hauled in seven rebounds in the 105-95 win. He was an efficient 11 for 17 from the field and converted both of his free throws while playing 32 minutes off the bench. Young also chipped in with five assists and two steals in the victory.
Analysis: Young has gotten his scoring up of late and is averaging 14.6 points with 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals over his last five contests. He is shooting 53 percent from the floor over that span and has seen around 30 minutes per game. He remains the team's primary option off the bench and could be in for a solid scoring period with Toronto, Memphis and Denver left on the schedule for Week 14 (Jan. 24-30). Young should be considered a viable option in deeper leagues, and could be used as a low-end option in larger formats while he's playing well.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young scored a team-high 21 points in the 76ers' 100-97 loss at Charlotte on Thursday night. Young knocked down 9 of 14 shots from the field to record his fifth 20-point game of the season. The 6-foot-8 forward surged last in the game and scored 15 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter for the 76ers, who lost their fifth consecutive road game.
Analysis: After averaging 8.5 points in a two-game stretch earlier this week, Young has now posted double digits in consecutive games for the third time this month. He remains inconsistent while he continues to play off the bench for Philadelphia but is fifth on the team with 11.6 points per game. He remains the team's primary option off the bench and his 29 minutes Thursday led all 76ers reserves. Consider him a mid-range Fantasy option in deeper leagues.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young just missed a double-double in Monday's game against Charlotte. He finished with nine points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals and likely would have cracked double-digits in scoring if he had not gone 4 of 16 from the field or 1 of 6 from the foul line. Young is averaging 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Young has a very inconsistent role for the Siers, playing big minutes one night and not the next. He is prone to inconsistent numbers as a result and should only be stashed in deeper formats in the hopes that he might find consistent playing time at some point. When getting good run, he is a solid rebounder and can be a mid-teens scorer. He is also a good source for steals.
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young chipped in with 12 points off the bench in Tuesday's 112-109 loss to the Pacers. Young shot 6 of 11 from the field in the contest while logging 35 minutes. He pulled down five rebounds in the defeat and also added a steal while logging 21 minutes. Young is averaging 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds over his last five contests.
Analysis: Young has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight contests but continues to score in the low-teens for Philadelphia. While many people think Young has the potential to be a star in Philly, he still has yet to take that next step. With season averages of 11.6 points and 4.9 rebounds a game, Young should only be considered a low-end Fantasy option for the time being.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young has seen an increase in his minutes lately with Andre Iguodala sidelined, but he isn't producing a ton with his opportunity. He went 4 for 6 from the field in Wednesday's 109-97 win over Washington on Wednesday, finishing with 11 points. He converted 3 of his 4 foul shots as well. His only other contribution would be one assist and four rebounds.
Analysis: Young has scored in double figures in six straight games, and has seen a slight increase in his numbers over his lat five outings. He's tallying 13.0 points, 1.2 assists and 5.8 boards per contest. While many people think Young has the potential to be a star in Philly, he isn't making the most of his increased minutes. This is frustrating for Fantasy owners too as Young has the potential to be a low-end starting guard in most formats. But with the way he's playing right now, Young is just worth using in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young has scored in double figures in three straight games for the 76ers. He scored 15 points on a 5-for-14 shooting performance on Wednesday night against the Suns. He connected on 5 of his 6 foul shots and missed his lone 3-pointer. Young would add a steal, eight boards and one assist in his 30 minutes of action. The 76ers would beat the Suns, 123-110, minus Andre Iguodala.
Analysis: Young has been scoring over his season average the last few games for Philly. He's posting 13.6 points, 6.8 boards and 1.4 assists per game over his last five. Young has the potential to put up good numbers, it all depends on how much playing time he gets. He's started one game this year, so he's primarily a reserve player. Fantasy owners just have to be patient with him as he continues to grow with the team. If Philly makes any moves, Young's Fantasy value will obviously get altered. For now, he's just worth using in deeper category-based formats.
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young scored 12 points on 5 of 12 shooting in Tuesday's 121-76 loss to the Bulls. Young played 26 minutes off the bench in the contest and missed his lone attempt from behind the arc. He added seven rebounds and two steals in the defeat.
Analysis: Young has been stuck in a rut after putting together a very solid run in late November- early December. Unfortunately consistency has plagued Young his entire career and this year seems no different. He is averaging just 7.4 points and 5.0 rebounds over his last five contests and should be left on the bench until he snaps out of his funk.
News: Philadelphia gave small forward Thaddeus Young just 18 minutes of run on Tuesday during a low-scoring win over the Nets in New Jersey. Young shot just 1 of 4 from the field in the game to put up two points. He did grab five rebounds, but added just one assist.
Analysis: Young played his fewest minutes in a while on Tuesday and his numbers are starting to get poor once again. He just put up 26 points and 11 rebounds on 11 of 12 shooting on Dec. 7 against Cleveland. Now he's scored a total of eight points in his last two games. He's up and down like a yo-yo and should only be active when he's on one of his hot streaks. Young can be owned in most Fantasy leagues, however.
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young posted his second straight 20-plus scoring effort in Tuesday's 117-97 win over the Cavaliers. Young scored a season-high 26 points in the victory on 11 of 12 shooting from the floor. He made his lone attempt from downtown and also chipped in with 11 rebounds and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Young has been playing fairly well of late and has now posted back-to-back 20-plus scoring performances. He is seeing about 25 minutes a game thus far and does have the ability to put up big numbers on a nightly basis. However, he has been plagued by inconsistency over his career, which limits his Fantasy value. Continue to roll with him in deeper leagues at this point.
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young found his scoring touch in Saturday's 109-91 win over the Bobcats. Young shot 8 of 11 from the field and made all four of his free-throw attempts to finish with 20 points. He played 26 minutes off the bench and added three rebounds, and an assist in the contest.
Analysis: Young has been playing fairly well this month but suffered a little hiccup earlier in the week. He is seeing about 25 minutes a game thus far and does have the ability to put up big numbers on a nightly basis. However, he has been plagued by inconsistency over his career, which limits his Fantasy value. Continue to roll with him in deeper leagues heading into Fantasy Week 7 (Dec. 6-12).
News: Sixers forward Thaddeus Young struggled with his shot in Tuesday's 88-79 win over the Blazers. Young had just five points in the victory on 2 of 8 shooting from the floor. He played in 22 minutes off the bench and chipped in with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Young's streak of scoring in double figures is now over at nine games. However, he has been playing extremely well of late and was still able to turn in a solid rebounding effort on a night he struggled to score. He's good for about 20-25 minutes a game and should continue to be used in deeper leagues at this point.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young produced in a rare start on Wednesday, but dealt with foul trouble as well. Young got the start against the Raptors because Elton Brand was serving a one-game suspension. Young shot 7 for 12 from the field, finishing with 14 points. He grabbed five boards, dished out an assist, blocked a shot and had two steals in his 29 minutes of action.
Analysis: Young has scored in double figures for seven straight games for the 76ers. He'd been filling in for the injured Andre Iguodala while he dealt with an injury. Young will likely resume his role off the bench now that Brand's suspension is over. He's good for about 20-25 minutes a game, which makes him worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young started on Wednesday in Toronto with Elton Brand being suspended for the game. It was only a one-game suspension for Brand and Young will return to the bench for the next contest.
Analysis: Young only saw 24 minutes in Tuesday's game in Washington with Andre Iguodala returning from injury. His minutes will likely stay around that area with Brand back. He still scored 15 points against the Wizards on 7 of 8 shooting with a 3-pointer and four rebounds. Still, getting 20-25 minutes per game will keep his Fantasy value limited to deeper formats only.
News: According to Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia, ailing Sixers F Andre Iguodala (Achilles') was able to practice on Sunday. He has been sidelined since last Monday after tweaking his Achilles' at a shootaround. In his absence, Thaddeus Young has seen a spike in production.
Analysis: Young was able to score a game-high 23 points on Friday night against Milwaukee, but his minutes and touches could be about to decline if Iguodala does indeed come back as soon as Tuesday's game. We still view Young as a decent low-end play in Fantasy, but you should expect him to be much more inconsistent once the team is at full strength. He offers decent scoring ability and about five rebounds per game.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young is the one player stepping up with Andre Iguodala out of action. Young scored in double figures for a fifth straight game on Friday against the Bucks. Young shot 8 for 13 from the field and was 7 for 8 from the foul line, finishing with a season-high 23 points. he missed both shots from downtown, but was able to contribute in other ways. He added six boards and three assists in his 39 minutes. "Coach (Doug) Collins always tells me to be prepared and that's what I try to do," said Young, who came off the bench to play 38 minutes. "If it's going to be 15 minutes or 40 minutes, I know I have to be mentally and physically prepared."
Analysis: Since Iguodala has been injured, Young is averaging 15.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in the last five outings. Young is a capable scorer and is just what Philly needs with Iggy out. While he's playing this well and no return date for Iguodala, Fantasy owners in deeper leagues can feel free to turn to Young. Consider him a nice stop-gap while Iggy is injured and low-end starter in most deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young scored a season-high 17 points on Friday against Dallas. It was also the tops on the team as the 76ers lost to the Mavericks, 99-90. Young shot 7 for 12 from the field and knocked down all three of his foul shots. He added two boards and a steal in his 24 minutes of action.
Analysis: Young is capable of scoring in double figures, but has been struggling for Philly. He entered Friday's contest with a combined 15 points over his last three games and not contributing in many other categories. He has an upside, but at this time Young should be viewed as a low-end starter in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia SF Thaddeus Young played quite well off the bench on Wednesday night in a blowout win over the Pacers. Young played 28 minutes and shot 50 percent from the field. He went 7 of 14 and nailed the only 3-pointer he attempted as he scored 16 points to lead all bench players in the game. Young grabbed five rebounds and added a steal.
Analysis: Young is scoring in double figures in every other game for the 76ers thus far after five contests. He's averaging 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Young is giving Fantasy owners some nice contributions in deeper leagues in scoring and rebounding and his shooting percentage has been sensational. Young remains a solid young player with upside and can be used in deeper formats right now.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports on Monday that the 76ers have decided not to extend the fifth year of Thaddeus Young's rookie contract. Young will be a restricted free agent on July 1, 2011.
Analysis: Young, who is averaging 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game after three contests, has been a solid Fantasy option in deeper leagues since coming into the NBA. It looks like he's going to be playing for a contract next season and this could help his value now that he has something to prove. Young remains a solid young player with upside and can be used in deeper formats right now.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had yet another productive night on Saturday against the Pacers. He finished with 11 points on 5 of 9 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds off of the bench. He also blocked two shots and managed two steals defensively in 26 minutes.
Analysis: Young saw a good amount of playing time off the bench and was highly efficient, but consistent numbers could be hard to come by if he sees just 25 minutes per game. Young remains a solid young player with upside, but we recommend leaving him out of active rosters until he can prove consistent.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had a productive first game of the season on Wednesday night against the Miami Heat. He scored 15 points in 26 minutes off the bench, shooting 6 for 8 from the field. Young added three rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Analysis: Young saw a good amount of playing time off the bench and was highly efficient, but consistent numbers could be hard to come by if he sees just 25 minutes per game. Young remains a solid young player with upside, but we recommend leaving him out of active rosters until he can prove consistent.
News: Sixers SF Thaddeus Young, who was a starter in 45 of the 67 games he played last year, will come off the bench in the season opener Wednesday against the Heat. The 76ers will start Jason Kapono at small forward instead, according to the Delaware News Journal.
Analysis: Young will likely still play significant minutes off the bench, but Kapono isn't the only one threatening his playing time. First-round pick Evan Turner will also be looking for minutes. Young is a potential 10-point, five-rebound guy who will also contribute a handful of 3-pointers, but in his current role, he's no better than a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Philadelphia F Thaddeus Young scored 17 points and grabbed two rebounds in Wednesday's preseason game with Boston. He suffered an eye injury on Tuesday against the Nets, but was able to play the very next day. He also made two steals and dished out two assists in Philly's loss. He made all five of his free throws, but went 0 for 4 from downtown.
Analysis: Young's corneal abrasion to his left eye might have been a factor in his poor shooting from behind the 3-point arc, but should not be anything to keep him out for any length of time. While he was a bit of a disappointment last season, he's slated to be a full-time starter this season. More playing time should equal a better Fantasy production. He may miss a game or two during the preseason, but should be viewed as a No. 4 forward with an upside. He's part of a young squad and is worth of a late-round pick in most leagues on Draft Day.
News: 76ers F Thaddeus Young suffered an eye injury in Tuesday's preseason game against the Nets. Young went down in the first quarter with the injury and his eye appeared swollen shut. He has been diagnosed with a corneal abrasion to his left eye and did not return to the game.
Analysis: Young was bit of a disappointment last season after a solid sophomore campaign. He averaged 13.8 points a game and only started 45 games under coach Eddie Jordan. Jordan is no longer in Philadelphia and Young is primed to be a full-time starter for new coach Doug Collins this season. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status to see when he will be able to return to action, but we anticipate this will be a day to day type of injury. Young can be considered a solid No. 4 forward with upside, worthy of a late-round pick in most formats on Draft Day.
News: The Sports Xchange reports that 76ers forward Thaddeus Young was a disappointment in 2009-10. Young made a big jump from his rookie season to Year 2, averaging 20 points during the month of March 2009. But Young regressed in his third season. He only averaged 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Young (fractured right thumb) also missed the final 15 games, but he's close to being able to play again.
Analysis: Young should improve in 2010-11, especially with coach Eddie Jordan no longer in Philadelphia since Young didn't fit with Jordan's offense. We expect Young to return as a quality Fantasy option, and he's worth a late-round pick on Draft Day next year.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 76ers forward Thaddeus Young will miss the remainder of the season with a thumb injury. Young fractured his thumb in March and was hopeful to play again this season, but the 76ers apparently have decided to shut him down.
Analysis: It's safe to release Young in all leagues if you've been holding onto him. Hopefully he can return at 100 percent in 2010-11 because he's a quality Fantasy option in all formats when healthy.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young was inactive for Tuesday's game against the Pistons due to a fractured thumb. Young has not played in Philadelphia's last 10 contests.
Analysis: Young is dealing with a fractured thumb and with the Sixers having nothing to play for, it is a good sign that they are not shutting him down all together. The young forward is not going to be in a position to produce significant totals on a regular basis down the stretch as long as Elton Brand remains healthy, so we recommend avoiding him.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers F Thaddeus Young (thumb) participated in non-contact drills in Monday's practice. He will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against Detroit.

News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young did not play in Saturday's game against the Raptors because of a thumb injury. He has not played since March 15.
Analysis: Young has not played since March 15 and with the Sixers out of the playoff hunt, there is no need to push him back into a return. Unless you see him back on the court, active and producing again, you can't start him in Fantasy.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers F Thaddeus Young (thumb) did not travel with the team to Charlotte for Wednesday night's game, but he is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's home game against Toronto.
Analysis: Young has not played since March 15 and with the Sixers out of the playoff hunt, there is no need to push him back into a return. Unless you see him back on the court, active and producing again, you can't start him in Fantasy.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young has now missed eight straight games with a fractured thumb. He did not play on Wednesday against the Bobcats and remains day to day with no real timetable to return.
Analysis: Young was a viable Fantasy option at forward, averaging 13.1 points and 5.0 rebounds in March before the thumb injury. However, due to the Sixers being eliminated from the playoffs, it's possible he won't return this season, so Fantasy owners should prepare for life without him.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young did not play in Tuesday's game against the Thunder due to a fractured thumb. He has missed seven straight games.
Analysis: Young was a viable Fantasy option at forward, averaging 13.1 points and 5.0 rebounds in March before the thumb injury. However, due to the Sixers being eliminated from the playoffs, it's possible he won't return this season, so Fantasy owners should prepare for life without him.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sixers F Thaddeus Young (thumb) did not practice Monday. He has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Young has missed the team's last six games. Tuesday will mark the seventh. With the Sixers out of the playoff race, it is highly possible that he has played his last game of the season and Fantasy owners should not be counting on activating him again this year.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young did not play in Friday's game against the Hawks due to a thumb injury. He remains day to day.
Analysis: There remains no concrete timetable for a return to action for Young, who fractured a bone in his thumb and could possibly miss the remainder of the regular season. He has nice upside, but is not going to be helping Fantasy owners in the foreseeable future.
News: According to the team's official Twitter feed, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan announced on Friday afternoon that F Thaddeus Young (thumb) would not play against the Hawks Friday night. He remains day to day.

News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young did not play in Wednesday night's contest against the Bucks because of a broken right thumb. He did not travel with the team to Milwaukee.
Analysis: While Young has plenty of upside, it is possible the injury could hold him out for the rest of the season. Fantasy owners should leave Young reserved until he can prove he is healthy and able to contribute.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Thaddeus Young (thumb) did not practice Tuesday and will not travel with the team to Milwaukee for Wednesday's game against the Bucks. It will be his fourth straight missed game.
Analysis: There remains no concrete timetable for a return to action for Young, who fractured a bone in his thumb and could possibly miss the remainder of the regular season. He has nice upside, but is not going to be helping Fantasy owners in the foreseeable future.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young did not play in Monday's contest against the Magic because of a thumb injury. He has now missed three straight games.
Analysis: No timetable has been set as to when Young will return, but he remains optimistic he will return before the end of the season. He likely won't return for an extended period of time so Fantasy owners will have to keep tabs on his status before putting him back in their lineups. He can be reserved in all formats for the time being.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 76ers forward Thaddeus Young, who suffered a fractured right thumb during a loss to the New York Knicks last Monday, is listed as out for Monday night's game against Orlando. Young is wearing a removable cast and hopes to return before the end of the season.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Young's progress, but don't plan on using Young for Fantasy Week 22. He might not return this year, and even if he does, he won't be playing at 100 percent.
News: Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young (right thumb fracture) was inactive for Saturday's game against Chicago. It his the second straight game he has missed.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Young's status, but he is most likely a no-go for Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). Until he can prove he is healthy and contribute, Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in all formats.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young did not play in Friday's contests against the Knicks because of a fractured right thumb. While he is listed as day-to-day it seems highly unlikely that Young will be playing anytime within the next seven days.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Young's status, but he is most likely a no-go for Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). Until he can prove he is healthy and contribute, Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in all formats.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sixers F Thaddeus Young (thumb) is listed as a game-time decision for Friday's game in New York. On Thursday, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said he would be surprised if Young began playing within a week.
Analysis: The game-time decision listing seems to be a tad optimistic. Fantasy owners should not expect to have Young active Friday or possibly for all of Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). The young forward has nice upside, but has been inconsistent due to the variety of front-court options the Sixers have. Let him prove healthy and productive again before activating him. That may not happen for a while.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, there remains no official timetable for a return to action for F Thaddeus Young (thumb). Coach Eddie Jordan said he would be surprised if Young began playing within a week. "I think they're going to put me on day-to-day," said Young, who is currently wearing a removable cast. "Just as long as the pain keeps going down and the swelling keeps going down, it should be fine."
Analysis: Fantasy owners should not expect to have Young active for Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). The young forward has nice upside, but has been inconsistent due to the variety of front-court options the Sixers have. Let him prove healthy and productive again before activating him. That may not happen for a while.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young has a right thumb fracture, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. There is no timetable for his return.
Analysis: Typically, this type of injury can take 4-6 weeks to heal. That means that Young may have played his last game of the regular season. Wait for official confirmation from the team before cutting ties with him, but prepare to go without him for the remainder of the season. Elton Brand and Samuel Dalembert will pick up the slack in the meantime. Marreese Speights will also have a chance at a boost down the line, but he is dealing with a knee injury himself.
News: For third consecutive game, Sixers F Thaddeus Young scored in double figures, putting in 14 points against the Heat on Sunday. Young shot 5 of 12 from the floor while grabbing eight boards and dishing out two assists in 33 minutes.
Analysis: Young is averaging 16.2 points over his last five contests to go along with six rebounds. With the Sixers playing four games during Fantasy Week 21 (March 15-21), Young makes for a No. 4 Fantasy forward in most formats.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young scored 15 points in a loss to the Cavaliers on Friday. Young shot 7 of 14 from the floor while adding five rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes. He has now scored in double figures in back-to-back games.
Analysis: Young is averaging 14.4 points over his last five games, but that number may be slightly skewed due in part to Young's rare 32-point performance on March 7. He has shown some flashes of brilliance and can be used as a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the reason for Samuel Dalembert being benched at the start of Sunday's game against Toronto was that he missed a team meeting. He will be back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Indiana. Thaddeus Young will return to the bench.
Analysis: Dalembert is averaging 12.4 points and 8.6 rebounds with 1.4 blocks in his last five games and remains a nice play as a No. 2 center where needed. This disciplinary situation is behind him now. Young, who had a career game Sunday thanks to the chance for added minutes, will return to being an erratic Fantasy option with upside but no real role to contribute on a regular basis. Adjust expectations.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young started Sunday's game in Toronto in place of Samuel Dalembert, who began the game on the sideline for disciplinary reasons. He scored a career-high 32 points, shooting 13 of 18 from the field and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. He also added tfour steals and committed just one turnover.
Analysis: Calm, down, calm down. Before you get too excited, realize that while Young has this type of upside, he does not have -- and will not have -- the type of role to put together these types of numbers on a regular basis down the stretch. Dalembert was benched due to disciplinary reasons and Marreese Speights left the game early due to injury. Young has upside yes, but he is just as likely to turn in a big game as he is a game like the one he had just one game earlier: five points, three rebounds and no assists against Boston. Temper expectations.
News: Starting in place of the injured Elton Brand, Sixers F Thaddeus Young scored 17 points in a loss to the Magic on Monday. Young shot 8 of 15 from the field while adding seven boards and two assists in 35 minutes. It was third consecutive game in double figures.
Analysis: Young has scored in double digits in four of his last five contests while averaging 13.8 points during that span. When you combine that with 6.6 rebounds per game, Young makes for a decent No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young scored 16 points against the Suns on Wednesday. It was his eighth double-figure output in his last nine games. In 32 minutes, he shot 7 of 17 from the field, 1 of 2 from downtown. He added six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Analysis: Young has been consistent lately. Over his last five games he's averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds, right about at his season numbers, scoring in double figures in eight of his last nine. He continues to play like a borderline No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young scored 16 points against the Heat on Tuesday, his fifth straight game with at least 10 points. He shot 8 of 14 from the field, 0 of 1 from 3-point range, adding two rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Young is playing solid basketball. He's averaging 16.4 points and 4.6 rebounds over his last five games, scoring at least 15 points in each. He's playing like a borderline No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers SF Thaddeus Young scored 15 points against the Raptors on Wednesday, his fourth straight game with at least 15. In 27 minutes he shot 6 of 12 from the floor, missing both 3-point attempts. He grabbed two rebounds and recorded one steal.
Analysis: Young has been scoring consistently. He's averaging 13.6 points over his last five games, with at least 15 in four straight. However, due to his limited minutes he remains a viable Fantasy option only in deeper leagues.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in Saturday's win over Houston. In 26 minutes he shot 7 of 10 from the field, making 1 of 2 3-pointers.
Analysis: Young's minutes have steadily declined all year, from 37.2 in November, to 33.4 in December, to 27.5 in January, to 24.3 in February. Despite less time on the court his production hasn't dipped as much as you might expect -- he's averaging 12.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in three February games. However, while he's making the most of his playing time, he has become only a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young had a nice game against the Hornets on Friday, finishing with 19 points and five rebounds. He shot 8 of 9 from the field in 25 minutes, adding one steal and one block.
Analysis: Young's minutes continue to decline, and so does his production -- he's averaging only 10.0 points and 4.8 rebounds over his past five games. He is a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young has not played well in his last two games for the 76ers. On Sunday at New Jersey, Young played only 17 minutes and shot poorly at 1 for 9 to score five points. He hit one three in two attempts and grabbed five rebounds with three steals.
Analysis: Young has shot 5 for 20 in his last two games to score a total of 15 points with 10 boards. What's more, he's averaging just 20 minutes per game over his last three contests and is not starting as Andre Iguodala has moved to the small forward spot with Jrue Holiday and Allen Iverson in the back court. He's still averaging almost 12 points per game over his last five contests and is hitting one three per night with 6.2 boards so he's not completely worthless. He's still underachieving for where we thought he'd be. Young should continue to see usage in most deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young scored 14 points over 19 minutes Wednesday at Milwaukee. Young shot 6 for 6 from the field and added seven boards and a steal.
Analysis: Young is still getting just 25.8 minutes per game over his last five contests and that is keeping his scoring down. He continues to show the ability to light up the scoreboard but the Sixers aren't likely to get him back in the starting lineup anytime soon. That leaves him with mediocre value for deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia F Thaddeus Young scored 22 points and added 10 rebounds as the Sixers defeated Indiana 107-97 on Saturday. Young shot 9 of 14 from the field and added seven points during an 11-0 run to seal the deal for Philly.
Analysis: Young has seemed to flourish in his new role off the bench for the Sixers. In the last two games since the lineup change, Young has scored 22 points in both contests. Fantasy owners might want to look into starting Young since the Sixers play four games during Fantasy Week 14 (Jan. 25-31). However, if you feel reserved to start Young, see how his progress goes during the week to see if he is worthy for the following Fantasy Week.
News: 76ers PF Thaddeus Young was not deterred by his removal from Philadelphia's starting lineup Friday, scoring 22 points in the team's win over Dallas. Elton Brand started in his place, but Young responded with his highest point total since he went for 26 on Dec. 14. In 25 minutes he shot 9 of 12, including 2 of 4 from downtown, and added four rebounds.
Analysis: Coming off the bench could be just what the doctor ordered for Young. Prior to tonight he averaged 11.6 points in nine January games, in which his average minutes were reduced to a season low 30 a contest. However he could thrive in his new role so keep an eye on his next few outings. For now he remains a low-end Fantasy start.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers coach Eddie Jordan told reporters prior to Friday night's game against Dallas that he is considering re-inserting Elton Brand into the starting lineup. He did not do so for Friday's game, however. Brand would either replace Thaddeus Young at power forward, or Lou Williams would return to the bench with Young moving over to small forward and Andre Iguodala playing shooting guard.
Analysis: Even as a starter, Young is seeing very erratic production with Brand and Marreese Speights getting shared playing time. As long all three players remain healthy and Samuel Dalembert continues his current surge, Young can be used as no more than a low-end starter in Fantasy leagues despite his upside.
News:Thaddeus Young scored 20 points for the Sixers during a Friday win against the Kings. Young went 9 of 14 from the field and grabbed four rebounds. He also had an assist and two blocked shots. Young scored 20 points for the first time in 10 games. He has been in double figures for five straight games.
Analysis: Young was definitely a more consistent player earlier in the season. It seems with every month that his scoring average drops a little. But if he carries the same confidence and accuracy he had on Friday, then the sky is the limit. Young remains a low-end Fantasy start until he scores on a more consistent basis.
News: Philadelphia F Thaddeus Young contributed a double-double Friday against Toronto with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Young was 9 of 24 from the field and saw 46 minutes of action. His 18 points were his highest in his last six games.
Analysis: Young has the capability to be a double-double type of player every night. However, he has been extremely inconsistent. Fantasy owners should definitely keep him on the roster, but be cautious about starting him until he shows more consistency.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young managed just four points on 2 of 5 shooting over 20 minutes on Monday at Portland. Young added one assist, one rebound and one steal in the victory for the 76ers.
Analysis: Young saw a season-low for minutes in the win at Portland as he continues to put together inconsistent play. Over his last five games, for example, he's had three single-digit scoring nights and two other games with an average of 19.5 a night. When he shoots well, he scores. That just doesn't always happen. He's rebounding and passing poorly as well of late and the only thing still seemingly working for him consistently is his ability to come up with steals. Young should turn things around but he's tough to rely upon at this moment. He has the upside of a must-start Fantasy option but right now is playing at a level somewhere below that plateau.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had 19 points and 8 rebounds in Saturday's overtime game against the Clippers. He is averaging 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Somehow, the Sixers have managed to get great production out of Young, Elton Brand and Marreese Speights in the last three games since Speights' return from a knee injury. How long that can continue is a mystery, but Fantasy owners should enjoy it while it lasts.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young was fantastic on Monday in a big win over the Warriors. Young scored a game-high 26 points on 12 of 21 shooting and added 14 big rebounds. He also had three steals, a block and four dimes.
Analysis: Young set new season highs for scoring and rebounding with this performance and is averaging almost 16 points and over five boards per game for the Sixers. He has the ability to play as he did Monday more consistently and the emergence of Allen Iverson seems to have aided his rebounding ability. Young is definitely worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy option in all leagues and hopefully can develop into an even better Fantasy player.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had a rough game on Wednesday against the Pistons in a 90-86 loss. Young wnt just 4 for 14 from the field, scoring 11 points. He added four rebounds and three assists, turning the ball over three times.
Analysis: Young got off to a rough start this season but has been playing better of late, averaging 18 points and 6.2 rebounds over his past five games. He will have to continue to step up in the absence of Lou Williams and is worth getting active as a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Sixers PF Thaddeus Young had 21 points and seven rebounds Monday at Dallas, shooting 8 for 18 from the field and 2 for 5 from 3-point range. He's averaging 20.0 points over his last six games.
Analysis: Young got off to a slow start this season, but the 76ers will have to rely on him for more scoring with Lou Williams sidelined with a broken jaw. Young doesn't contribute much in other categories, but he's still worth using as a No. 3 forward in Fantasy.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young scored 21 points with 6 rebounds, 1 steal and a three pointer in Saturday's game at Cleveland. He had scored a combined 10 points in his previous two games.
Analysis: Young been a bit erratic lately on offense, but he has this type of ability. And Fantasy owners should consider him a very strong option in weeks when facing favorable matchups like he'll have in a four-game slate in Fantasy Week 5 (Nov. 23-29).
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young scored 20 points for only the second time this season Wednesday against the 76ers, doing so on 8 of 16 shooting, including 2 or 4 from 3-point range. He also had five rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Young might not get the opportunity to average 15.3 points per game like he did last year, but he's a good enough scorer to serve as a No. 4 Fantasy forward in Head-to-Head leagues. He doesn't contribute in many other categories, though, making him slightly less than that in Rotisserie leagues.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had 11 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds in Tuesday's game against Boston. He shot just 4 for 16 from the field. He is averaging 14.3 points through five games.
Analysis: Young hasn't been great and he hasn't been horrible early on. His three-point shot has not been falling yet (1 for 10 in five games), but is averaging over a steal per game and has gotten double-digit shot attempts in his last three games. View him as a No. 3 forward with upside.
News: 76ers F Thaddeus Young scored eight points in 32 minutes as a starter on Wednesday in the season-opening loss to Orlando. Young shot 3 of 9 from the field and hit a three. He grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists and stole a ball and blocked a shot.
Analysis: Young could become a solid Fantasy Rotisserie player this season in Philly. He'll have plenty of good scoring nights. The 21-year-old Young averaged 15.3 points last year as the 76ers made the playoffs for the second consecutive season. He is a solid breakout candidate and should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy F.
News: The Philadelphia 76ers have picked up contract options on three players, including starting small forward Thaddeus Young. Sixers president Ed Stefanski says the team exercised options for Young and power forwards Marreese Speights and Jason Smith on Thursday. All three are under contract through the 2010-11 season.
Analysis: The 21-year-old Young averaged 15.3 points last year as the 76ers made the playoffs for the second consecutive season. He is a solid breakout candidate in the middle rounds this season and is a player we recommend as a No. 3 Fantasy forward with excellent upside.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young, starting at small forward, led the team with 26 points in a preseason game at New York on Tuesday. He also had six rebounds. He shot 9 of 15 from the field, including 1 of 2 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Young is a talented scorer, but he's probably third in the pecking order behind Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand. Don't expect him to improve too much on his 15.3 points per game last season. Still, that's plenty good enough to make him a No. 3 forward in Fantasy, especially since he can also hit a few 3-pointers.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young played in his first game since spraining his right ankle and bruising his right foot March 31 on Tuesday night against the Celtics. Young scored 18 points as he was immediately placed in the starting lineup. He shot 8-of-16 with a three and added three steals.
Analysis: It appears safe to play Young in Fantasy in the season finale on Wednesday at Cleveland. He's going to play in the finale and get solid minutes as the 76ers will not make the playoffs. Young had an excellent year with Philadelphia and was a must-start when he was healthy.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports Sixers forward Thaddeus Young scrimmaged in a three-on-three drill at Sixers practice Monday, his first such work since he sprained his right ankle and bruised his right foot March 31. Young, who averaged 21.4 points on 54.9 percent shooting in the 16 games preceding his injury, could return Tuesday against Boston or Wednesday at Cleveland. "It's looking pretty good," Young said of his chances of playing. "No pain at all. I'm a little out of shape, but I could still play." Young said he could go 15-20 minutes if he plays.
Analysis: The safe option is to keep Young out since he hasn't played and won't get enough minutes. But this is a good sign heading into the playoffs that he will return at 100 percent, and hopefully there will be no setbacks.
News: Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said Thursday that there's a slim chance that PF Thaddeus Young could play in one of the remaining regular-season games, although a more likely scenario is he returns for the playoffs. Young has been out since April with a sprained right ankle and bone bruise.
Analysis: Even if Young is able to return for the Sixers in the regular season, he likely won't do enough to be worth having active. He is however a player that could be worth keeping in long-term Fantasy leagues. He could be considered a No. 3 Fantasy option heading into next season as he was one of the team's best players in the month of March.
News: The Camden Courier-Post reports that Thaddeus Young will miss 2-3 weeks with a sprained right ankle and bone bruise he suffered Tuesday against Atlanta. X-rays showed the ankle wasn't fractured, and a Sixers spokesperson said it wasn't a more serious high ankle sprain, either. "I should be back for the playoffs," Young said before Thursday's game against the Bucks.
Analysis: The report added that Young is currently on crutches and wearing a removable air cast. Young has arguably been the Sixers' best player over the past month. He was third on the team in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game. He had scored at least 20 points in each of his previous seven games and was averaging 21.4 points per game over his previous 16 games. His Fantasy season is over, but he remains a worthy keeper-league option. He could enter next season as a viable No. 3 forward option, but beware of Elton Brand.
News: Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young could miss the start of the playoffs with a sprained ankle. Young injured his right ankle in the first quarter of Tuesday's 98-85 win over Atlanta. On Wednesday, a team doctor said Young has a sprain and bone bruise that is expected to keep him sidelined for two to three weeks. With nine games remaining in the regular season, the 76ers are sixth in the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games ahead of Chicago, which holds the eighth and final playoff spot. The playoffs begin April 18.
Analysis: Young is averaging 15.2 points and five rebounds per game in his second year as the Sixers have shaken off a bad start and a coaching change to push for the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Keep Young reserved in all leagues for now.
News: The Philadelphia 76ers proved they could win without Thaddeus Young. They might have to keep proving it over their final nine regular-season games. The Sixers were dealt an early blow when Young limped off the court with 2:15 left in the first quarter. Young landed on Josh Smith's foot and stayed on the court for a few minutes writhing in pain. "At this time of the season, we can't afford injuries," Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said. "Hopefully, Thad will get back soon." Young, who had played in every game this season, scored six points before the injury. He entered the game averaging 15.3 points. X-rays were negative and Young's status for Thursday's game against Milwaukee is not immediately known. He is scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday. "It looked bad because he really couldn't walk off the court," Andre Miller said. "It could be a couple of weeks. I don't know. He's been playing good ball for us. Other guys have to keep stepping up."
Analysis: The worst-case scenario for Fantasy owners seems to be the most likely scenario for the 76ers. Gearing up for a playoff run, Philadelphia needs one of its best players healthy and won't rush him back over the final nine games. Young is averaging 21 points, five boards and 1.4 steals per game over his last five games and is clearly a must-start Fantasy player, when healthy. He could return before the end of the regular season, albeit unlikely, so stay tuned.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young continues to play at a high level for the 76ers but they still lost on Sunday at Detroit. Young scored 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting with eight rebounds. Young has now scored at least 20 points in seven straight games.
Analysis: Young is averaging 24 points, six boards and two steals over his last five games. What's more, he's got the ability to hit threes and pass, too. This is Andre Iguodala's team but Young is quickly becoming a very good sidekick and should now be active in all 12-team and deeper leagues at the least.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had 25 points, seven rebounds and an assist in Monday's game in Portland. It was his fourth straight game with 20-plus points.
Analysis: Young is averaging 21.4 points and 6.2 rebounds over his last five games and is getting around 35 minutes per game in that span. He is only starting in 59 percent of CBSSports.com leagues right now and we feel that number should be considerably higher.

He's averaging 15 points, four boards, two steals, a three and a block per night over his last five games. That makes him a Rotisserie stud and someone worth using at all times in Fantasy right now.
News: Philadelphia PF Thaddeus Young shot 6-of-11 from the field on Saturday against Miami to score 14 points. Young hit a three but did little else in the game as he finished with two assists and two rebounds.
Analysis: Young had been shooting poorly so it was nice to see the game on Saturday. That said, he needs to pick up the rebounding and blocked shots as he's going to be getting a lot of Elton Brand's minutes now that he's gone for the year. Young should be starting across the board right now.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young scored 22 points with four rebounds and two steals in Monday's game in New Orleans. He is averaging 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists over his last five games.
Analysis: Young is getting around 10-15 shots per game and emerged as a huge part of the team's offensive plans with Elton Brand out due to a shoulder injury. Brand is back now, but is still getting introduced slowly back into the rotation. Analysis: Young is adding six boards, two assists, 1.4 steals and over a three per game in his last five contests and is playing very well right now. Continue using him as a No. 3 or 4 option until Elton Brand comes back. When that does happen, his production could drop off significantly.

Analysis: Young had been alternating single-digit and double-digit performances through the first four games of the new year. Analysis: Young was a combined 8-for-20 in the two eight-point games and 8-for-16 in the 19-point effort. That goes to show, when he shoots well, he scores well. We expected a lot from Young to start the season and thought he could break out after averaging eight points per game last year. He's done well with 13.2 per night but has struggled at times in his sophomore season. For as long as Elton Brand is out, however, Young will be a decent stopgap option in deeper leagues when the matchups are good.

Analysis: That's all well and good, but Young is still only averaging around his season numbers over his last five contests. That is around 12 points and four boards per game with 1.2 steals and little else. For as long as Elton Brand is out, Young will be a decent stopgap option, but right now he's not doing any more with the extra time he's been given.
News: Sixers F Thaddeus Young had 18 points with five rebounds and two assists in Friday's game in Washington. He has scored 10-plus points in four straight games.
Analysis: With Elton Brand out for the next month, Young will see a significant boost in minutes and shot attempts. Fantasy owners should look to add him in any league in which he is available. The Sixers play just two games in the upcoming scoring period, but Young will be of plenty of use in the next few scoring periods.
News: Philadelphia G Willie Green started in place of F Thaddeus Young for the Sixers on Wednesday night against the Cavs. Young has been struggling of late and was demoted. Analysis: The started Kareem Rush at small forward against the New Jersey Nets in last Wednesday's preseason finale, bringing Young off the bench. But that was mostly to give Rush some extended minutes and allow him to relocate his rhythm as a three-point shooter. In Young's weekend absence, Rush stayed with the first unit and represents the contingency plan if Young is unable to play. In 2008-09, view Young more as a sleeper than a regular starter in Fantasy.

News: Sixers rookie F Thaddeus Young got his first big taste of game action Tuesday at Washington. In 21 minutes off the bench, he had a career-high 14 points and five rebounds. He shot 7-of-10 from the floor.
Analysis: You can explain Tuesday's surplus of minutes by the 76ers going down big early, but since Young also played 16 minutes in a narrow victory just one game earlier, Philadelphia might have decided to make him a bigger part of its rotation. Still, the rookie only deserves consideration in deeper Fantasy leagues for now.
News: The Philadelphia 76ers signed a pair of first-round draft picks on Wednesday, inking 12th overall pick Thaddeus Young and 7-footer Jason Smith. Young, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward, entered the draft after averaging 14.4 points as a freshman at Georgia Tech. Smith was picked 20th by Miami and traded to the Sixers for the rights to 21st pick Daequan Cook, cash and a 2009 second-round pick. Young will make $1.525 million in the first year of his contract and $1.640 million in the second. Smith will make a little over $1 million both seasons. The 76ers hold options for third and fourth years on both players. It may not be until the third or fourth year that the 19-year-old Young makes a big impact for the Sixers.
Analysis: Young is averaging 10 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Las Vegas summer league. Smith, 21, played three seasons at Colorado State and averaged 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds his junior year. He is averaging 7.8 points and 8.0 rebounds in the summer league. Both players are going to be low-end Fantasy reserves in 2007-08.
News: The Philadelphia 76ers selected Georgia Tech Guard Thaddeus Young with the 12th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
Analysis: Young is a versatile forward who can score inside and also can step back and hit the triple. He is a reliable free-throw shooter and is flexible defensively as well, as he can guard both inside and outside scorers with the same efficiency. He should be able to make some sort of impact in his rookie season and is worth a late round flier.
