Russell back in reserve role

(2/15/2012) With the return from injury of many of the Pistons’ back court options, G Walker Russell has been moved back into a backup role recently. He scored just three points in 10 minutes on Wednesday while failing to register an assist as the Pistons won 98-88 over the Celtics.

Russell’s role continues to increase

(2/1/2012) The Pistons only just signed G Walker Russell from the NBDL 12 days ago, but he has already become a fixture in their rotation amid a rash of injuries in the backcourt. On Wednesday against New Jersey, he topped 20 minutes for the fifth time in eight games and was part of some of the Pistons’ crunch-time lineup as they tried to win a close game in the fourth quarter. The Pistons would ultimately fall short, losing 99-96, however it was not for a lack of effort from Russell, who scored a career-high 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting, including 2 of 3 from three-point range, while grabbing six rebounds – four offense – and two assists in 21 minutes.

Russell makes debut

(1/20/2012) One day after being signed from the NBDL, Walker Russell made his debut for the Pistons, playing in 20 minutes off the bench in a 98-81loss to the Grizzlies on Friday. Russell scored three points in his time on the floor, making 1 of 2 from both the field and the free-throw line, while also grabbing one rebound, two assists and a steal.

Pistons call up Russell

(1/19/2012) The Pistons have called up Walker Russell from Ft. Wayne of the D-League to join their roster. He has not been on an NBA roster since 2007 when he was waived by the Knicks in the preseason.

Knicks waive Walker Russell

(10/25/2007) The New York Knicks waived guards Jared Jordan, Demetris Nichols and Walker Russell, reducing their roster to the regular-season limit of 15 on Thursday.
