Fredette hoping for more next season

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4/11/2013) Kings guard Jimmer Fredette has not developed as the team hoped when they selected him with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, and he has struggled to earn consistent playing time yet again this season. Despite that, Fredette told the Sacramento Bee Thursday that he feels he has made progress in his second year, even in a season where he is averaging just 13.7 minutes per game. "I know I'm progressing as a basketball player, and that's the most important thing," he said. "And when you get an opportunity, you just have to go out and show it, so that's what I've been trying to do all year." Fredette hopes to find more playing time next season, though that may be tough if the team does not clear out a logjam at the guard spots. No matter what, Fredette plans to go into the summer feeling positive about his development as a player. "I feel like I've learned a lot; I've progressed and I'm ready to take the next step," he said. "I'm ready to have a crucial role on a team and play well and play a lot of minutes. I'm confident in my abilities, and I can help a team out. I'm excited to be able to show that. I'll finish the season strong, have a great summer and be ready for next year."
