Fantasy owners should hang on to slumping Kenneth Faried

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(2/4/2015) The Nuggets are a mess, with coach Brian Shaw publicly questioning the team's desire to win in recent days -- and that was before another embarrassing loss Tuesday to the 76ers. Kenneth Faried hardly made an impact in that game, going scoreless on six field-goal attempts over 19 minutes of action, and his Fantasy owners have to be worried about his recent play. Should they be?

Faried came back from an illness and clearly wasn't himself Tuesday, however his slump goes further than this. Faried has been a big disappointment also season long, as his 12.7 points-per-game average in January was actually his highest of the year. He has found playing time a bit tough to come by, and Shaw has never seemed particularly thrilled about handing a big role to Faried, despite the leap Faried took last season, when he averaged 18.8 points and 10.1 rebounds.

Right now, it's hard to know what to make of the Nuggets, given the issues with Shaw. There is little indication the team is looking to move on from him, which could limit Faried's value a bit moving forward. Still, Faried struggled to make an impact in the first half of last season as well, before Shaw finally began trusting him with a larger role. Given how shallow the forward position is for Fantasy, you probably just want to keep riding out the lows with Faried, because the highs could be worth it.

Nuggets rule McGee out of Tuesday's game; Faried will play

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/23/2015) Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried (illness) will play in Friday's game against the Celtics, the Denver Post reports.

Faried was dealing with flu-like symptoms Thursday, causing him to earn a "questionable" tag for Friday's game, but he's ready to roll in the home matchup. He delivered 26 points and 14 rebounds in 37 minutes in his last game.

In addition, JaVale McGee will suit up Friday but will not play against the Celtics. McGee practiced Thursday but isn't quite ready to return from a tibia injury.

The Nuggets are 6 1/2-point favorites at home against the Celtics.

(1/21/2015) With the Nuggets in the midst of a four-game losing streak, coach Brian Shaw said he’s considered just about every lineup possible, including benching forward Kenneth Faried, reports The Denver Post.
