Lakers' new guards available to play Friday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/21/2014) Lakers guards Kent Bazemore and MarShon Brooks are available to play in Friday's game after being acquired from the Warriors on Wednesday, the Orange County Register reports.

The Lakers will be without guards Steve Nash and Nick Young Friday, so the team's recent trade acquisitions could be thrown right into the fire. Bazemore averaged 2.3 points on 37.1 percent shooting in 44 games, while Brooks scored 13 points in 15 minute of action over seven appearances with Golden State.

Warriors add Steve Blake in three-player trade

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/19/2014) The Warriors and Lakers have completed a trade, with Lakers guard Steve Blake to Golden State in exchange for guards MarShon Brooks and Kent Bazemore, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Blake missed significant time earlier in the season after undergoing elbow surgery and was still feeling discomfort in the elbow before the break. He has averaged 9.5 points and 7.6 assists over 27 games pleyd.

Bazemore appeared in 12 of Golden State's last 16 games but topped four minutes just one, seeing eight minutes of action on Feb. 10. He has averaged 2.3 points on 37.1 percent shooting in 44 games.

Brooks came to Golden State from Boston in January. He made seven appearances with the Warriors, scoring 13 points in 15 minute of action.

MarShon Brooks makes brief debut

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/18/2014) Warriors guard MarShon Brooks made a brief debut with his new club on Friday against the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

Brooks logged just two minutes of game action, scoring two points on 2 of 3 shooting from the field in a 127-121 loss. Brooks just appeared in 10 games for the Celtics before being traded and was averaging 3.1 points per game on 37.5 percent shooting before Friday's loss.

Report: Warriors planning to keep MarShon Brooks

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/15/2014) Despite an earlier report indicating the team was considering it, Yahoo.com reports Wednesday the Warriors plan to keep newly acquired guard MarShon Brooks. The Warriors received Brooks as part of a three-team trade Wednesday that also netted them guard Jordan Crawford.

Brooks appeared in just 10 games for the Celtics this season, scoring 3.1 points per game on 37.5 percent shooting.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/15/2014) The Warriors may waive guard MarShon Brooks after acquiring him in a trade Wednesday, the Boston Globe reports. Brooks played just 73 minutes over 10 games with the Celtics before being traded Wednesday, scoring 31 points on 9 of 24 shooting.

Warriors acquire Jordan Crawford, MarShon Brooks from Boston

by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(1/15/2014) Looking to bolster their backcourt depth, the Warriors acquired Boston guards Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks from the Celtics Wednesday, Yahoo Sports reports.

In return the Warriors will send guard Toney Douglas to Miami, and the Heat will send center Joel Anthony and two future draft picks to Boston. The deal likely means Rajon Rondo is very close to returning for Boston, as reports indicated earlier in the week.

Crawford was putting up career numbers as Boston’s interim starting point guard, averaging 13.7 points and 5.7 assist on the year. Brooks, on the other hand, has barely logged a minute since being traded to Boston from the Nets.

MarShon Brooks recalled from D-League

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/9/2014) The Celtics have recalled guard MarShon Brooks from the Maine Red Claws of the D-League, according to WEEI on Thursday. Brooks has only appeared in nine games this season and has averaged 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds on 40.0 percent shooting over that span.

MarShon Brooks to return to Celtics by the weekend

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/7/2014) Celtics guard MarShon Brooks will play in two more D-League games with the Maine Red Claws and should be re-called by the team by the weekend, the Boston Globe reports.

Brooks was assigned to the Red Claws last Wednesday after averaging just 3.2 points and 6.8 minutes in nine games with the Celtics.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/1/2014) The Celtics have assigned guard MarShon Brooks to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development Leage, the team announced Wednesday. Brooks has played in just nine games with the Celtics this season, averaging 3.2 points and 6.8 minutes per game.

Celtics pick up Jared Sullinger's option, to decline MarShon Brooks'

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/29/2013) Celtics president Danny Ainge told the MetroWest Daily News Tuesday that the team will pick up Jared Sullinger's $1.4 million option for the 2014-15 season, but will decline MarShon Brooks' fourth-year option.

The Celtics suspended Sullinger for the first game of the season against the Raptors for his off-court actions. He is slated to return for the home opener Friday against Milwaukee.

MarShon Brooks trying to earn a role

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/17/2013) Celtics guard MarShon Brooks has struggled to break through in the preseason rotation, but that changed a bit in Wednesday's game against the Raptors.

Brooks played 20 minutes off the bench, and showed off a solid scoring touch. Brooks led the team with 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting, including a 3-of-4 mark from three-point range. He added two assists, but turned the ball over four times.

Brooks is averaging just 7.6 points in 11.8 minutes per game in the preseason.

Brooks included in blockbuster

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6/29/2013) The Nets made one change to their blockbuster deal Friday, swapping out Reggie Evans and sending guard MarShon Brooks to the Celtics instead. Evans was originally included in the eight-person trade, but the Nets opted to include him after failing to find a separate suitor for Brooks. The deal will officially go through July 10, when Keith Bogans can be sign-and-traded to the Celtics to complete the deal.

Injuries giving Brooks a shot

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4/3/2013) With Joe Johnson dealing with a lingering heel injury, the Nets have turned to little-used sophomore guard MarShon Brooks more often recently. Brooks received the start Wednesday against the Cavs, and he responded with arguably the best game of his career. Brooks scored 27 points on an unusually efficient 12 of 16 shooting, with one 3-pointer. He added four rebounds and seven assists in 37 minutes of action, though he also turned the ball over five times. Brooks' big game helped the Nets to an easy 113-95 win.
