Elton Brand has no plans of retiring

(6/7/2014) Hawks forward Elton Brand told reporters that he intends to play next season, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 34-year-old played 73 games, including 15 starts. He averaged 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds on 53.9 percent shooting from the field. He will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

"My body feels good," Brand said. "I'm already training for next season."

(2/26/2014) Hawks forward Elton Brand put up a rare double-digit scoring game Wednesday against the Celtics, and filled up the box score well otherwise in a 115-104 loss.

Brand played 34 minutes in the loss and scored 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting, his best total in four games. He also added seven rebounds, five assists and five blocks, the latter two of which either set or matched season highs.

Brand has been productive in a larger role recently, averaging 9.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game in 36.2 minutes over the last five.

(2/19/2014) Hawks center Elton Brand drew the start Wednesday, scoring a season-high 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting while matching a season high with 11 rebounds in his team's 114-97 loss to the Wizards.

It was the first double-double of the season for Brand, who scored no points in his previous 11-rebound game. He also had one assist and one steal in a season-high 35 minutes in the loss, Atlanta's seventh straight. Brand has averaged 5.3 points and 4.5 rebounds over 45 games played.

(1/31/2014) Hawks forward Elton Brand was held scoreless on Monday for the 10th time this season. He got back on track with a productive performance in a 125-99 loss to the 76ers on Friday.

Brand scored 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field, including 0 of 1 from 3-point land, and 2 of 3 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with eight rebounds and one assist while logging 23 minutes of game action. He has averaged 8.2 points and 4.6 rebounds over his last five games.

(1/10/2014) Hawks forward Elton Brand grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds but finished with zero points on 0 for 4 shooting in his team's 83-80 win over the Rockets Friday.

Brand has played at least 20 minutes in each of his last three games after doing so once previously this season, and while he had an excellent day on the glass in his 24 minutes of action Friday, he couldn't knock down any shots. He also had three blocks in the win. Brand has averaged 3.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 29 games played.

(1/6/2014) Hawks forward Elton Brand enjoyed a solid performance as he logged a season-high 30 minutes of game action during Monday's loss to the Nets in Brooklyn.

Brand went 4 of 5 shooting from the field and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He finished the game with a season-high 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a 91-86 defeat. He has averaged 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds over his last five games played.

(12/20/2013) Hawks forward Elton Brand scored four points on 2 of 2 shooting and recorded eigth rebounds and a season-high five blocks in Friday's 118-85 win over the Jazz.

It was Brand's highest block total in nearly a year, with his last five-block game falling on Jan. 5. He also recorded one assist in 20 minutes of action. Brand has averaged 2.9 points and 3.5 rebounds over 19 games played.

(12/6/2013) Hawks forward Elton Brand has mostly played just a minor role off the bench this season, as he appeared in just his 13th game of the season Friday against the Cavaliers. Brand was held scoreless in 14 minutes off the bench, finishing with four rebounds and one block in a 108-89 win.

Brand is struggling through his least productive season, averaging just 2.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He has been absent from eight of the team's first 21 games.

(4/5/2013) ESPN reports that Mavericks forward Elton Brand continues to be bothered by a sore right calf. He sat out Thursday's game against Denver and might be out Friday at Sacramento. The calf has been bothering Brand since the first quarter of last week’s loss to the Pacers. “It’s not progressing like we expected it to,” Brand said. “It’s not getting better. I’m in no way trying to shut it down. I’m definitely trying to get back out there as soon as we can, so we’ll see. It’s like a game-to-game situation.” As coach Rick Carlisle said, it has been “obvious” that Brand wasn’t himself as he tried to play through the injury. “You just want to be out there for the guys,” said Brand, who is averaging 7.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.6 minutes. “It’s definitely painful, but a lot of guys are trying to play through ailments. Dirk (Nowitzki) has, I’m sure, 50 of them. O.J. (Mayo) is playing with his shoulder. We’re trying to get to .500, get to the playoffs. Against Dwight Howard and guys like that, I had to go. I had to try to go.”
