News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was finally able to get back on the court for Friday's contest against the Nuggets. Brand, who missed the past four games due to a sore right calf, finished with just two points and four rebounds in the 108-105 defeat. He went 1 of 3 from the field and added four rebounds and two blocks to his stat line, while logging 14 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Brand's first season has been a bust as he entered Friday's tilt averaging just 7.4 points and 6.1 rebounds on the year -- both career lows. It appears the veteran's best days are behind him, so while Brand will be a free agent this summer, he likely won't have much value heading into the 2013-14 campaign.
News: The Mavericks official team website reports that forward Elton Brand is likely to return for Friday's game against Denver after being out the past four games with a sore right calf, according to coach Rick Carlisle.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Brand's status prior to game time, and hopefully he can return against the Nuggets. When healthy and active, Brand is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: Despite making improvements in recent days, Mavericks forward Elton Brand was unable to play Wednesday against the Suns due to a sore right calf. Brand has missed the team's last four games due to the injury, and it is not clear when he will be able to return
Analysis: Brand seems adamant that he will be able to return this season, but his body may not cooperate. Brand was averaging just 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game over the previous 10, and is not much of a Fantasy option, even when healthy.
News: The Mavericks team website reports that forward Elton Brand is expected to play Wednesday night against the Suns. Brand has missed the past three games with a sore right calf. "Elton is doing better, and he's going to see how he's doing tonight," coach Rick Carlisle said. "I expect there's a good chance that he will suit up and be available, but I don't know that for sure yet."
Analysis: Keep an eye on Brand's status prior to game time, and hopefully he can return against the Suns. When healthy and active, Brand is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was ruled out for Sunday's tilt against the Trail Blazers as he continues to nurse a sore right calf. Brand, who has now missed three consecutive games with his ailment, as able to partake in the team's morning shootaround earlier in the day. He remains listed as day to day.
Analysis: While Brand seems committed to getting back on the court this season, there is no guarantee that he will be able to. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status heading into Fantasy Week 24 (April 18-24). However, Brand is averaging just 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over his last 10 games, so consider him merely a low-end option when healthy.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was ruled out for Friday's contest against the Kings as he continues to nurse a sore right calf. Brand, who has now missed two straight games with his injury, told reporters that he has plans on returning this season. Its not progressing like we expected it to, Brand said. Its not getting better. Im in no way trying to shut it down. Im definitely trying to get back out there as soon as we can, so well see."
News: ESPN reports that Mavericks forward Elton Brand continues to be bothered by a sore right calf. He sat out Thursday's game against Denver and might be out Friday at Sacramento. The calf has been bothering Brand since the first quarter of last weeks loss to the Pacers. Its not progressing like we expected it to, Brand said. Its not getting better. Im in no way trying to shut it down. Im definitely trying to get back out there as soon as we can, so well see. Its like a game-to-game situation. As coach Rick Carlisle said, it has been obvious that Brand wasnt himself as he tried to play through the injury. You just want to be out there for the guys, said Brand, who is averaging 7.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.6 minutes. Its definitely painful, but a lot of guys are trying to play through ailments. Dirk (Nowitzki) has, Im sure, 50 of them. O.J. (Mayo) is playing with his shoulder. Were trying to get to .500, get to the playoffs. Against Dwight Howard and guys like that, I had to go. I had to try to go.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to rest Brand, and hopefully he will return to action soon. When healthy and active, Brand is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was forced to sit out Thursday's game against the Nuggets, due to a sore right calf. Brand is being listed as day to day with the injury.
Analysis: Brand has missed just six games this season, as a reserve role has mostly helped keep him healthy. He is averaging just 7.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game on the season, both of which are career-lows. Fantasy owners can continue to consider him little more than a reserve option down the stretch, even when healthy.
News: Mavericks power forward Elton Brand scored in double figures for the first time since March 10 on Sunday night against the Jazz. He finished with 10 points and hauled in five rebounds in the 113-108 win. He went a perfect 5 for 5 from the field while playing 18 minutes off the bench. Brand also posted three assists, two blocks and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Brand is on pace for the worst campaign of his career and does not contribute consistently enough to be considered a reliable option in Fantasy. Continue to ignore the 34-year-old in all but deeper formats.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was fairly productive during Friday's contest against the Pistons. Brand finished with nine points and six rebounds in the 102-99 win on 4 of 6 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 2 at the free-throw line and also added three assists, one steal and one block to his stat line, while logging 31 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Brand continues to see around 20-25 minutes off the bench most nights, but he has struggled to consistently put up stats. The veteran has now failed to score in double figures in each of his last four games and he was even shutout once over that stretch. The return of Chris Kaman is partly to blame for Brand's recent dip, but he has struggled to score the basketball for most of the year. He entered Friday's tilt averaging just 7.8 points per game -- the lowest scoring output of his career. At this point in the season, Brand should only be active in deeper formats as a low-end option.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand turned in a solid performance off the bench as he nearly picked up a double-double Sunday afternoon against the Lakers. Brand went 6 of 13 shooting from the field and 2 of 4 from the free throw line. He finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists while logging 29 minutes of game action in a 103-99 defeat.
Analysis: Brand has picked up his scoring as of late as he has scored in double figures in each of the last three games. In fact, he is averaging 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 52.9 percent from the field in the last three games. Now that Chris Kaman has returned after missing 10 games with post-concussion symptoms, the 33-year-old may lose a bit of playing time moving forward. We'll continue to monitor his role off the bench moving forward. For now, Fantasy owners should keep him active in deeper formats.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds during Dallas' 116-91 victory over Golden State on Saturday. Brand finished 5 of 9 from the field in 29 minutes of playing time to collect only his sixth double-double of the season, and first since Jan. 18 against Oklahoma City. Brand also contributed two assists, two blocks and two steals despite failing to surpass 30 minutes for the ninth consecutive game.
Analysis: After a bumpy finish in January, which included three outings with single-digits in points over the final four games, Brand has experienced a resurgence during the early part of this month. He has notched at least 10 rebounds in three of the first four games and is averaging a solid 9.5 boards per contest during that span. With Chris Kaman sidelined, he is earning more minutes and should be activated in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Dallas power forward Elton Brand had another productive performance on the boards Wednesday night against Portland. He hauled in 10 rebounds and scored seven points in the 105-99 win. He went 3 for 7 from the field and made 1 of 2 free throws while playing 28 minutes off the bench. Brand also blocked two shots in the victory.
Analysis: Brand has been seeing playing time at center for the Mavericks and continues to be a viable option at this stage of his career. Still, he is averaging just 4.2 points with 6.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in the previous five contests on 28 percent shooting. Owners should continue to leave the 33-year-old for deeper Fantasy formats at this point.
News: After scoring eight points his last time out, Dallas power forward Elton Brand was benched in place of Bernard James, but bounced back with a decent performance Sunday against the Suns. Brand came off the bench as he scored 12 points on 6 of 10 shooting in a 110-95 victory. He also chipped in with three rebounds while logging 17 minutes of game action. James only scored two points as a starter.
Analysis: Since James failed to produce as the starter, Brand or Chris Kaman should return to the starting lineup, so we'll monitor his role moving forward. Brand is averaging 11.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game over his last five games, which is higher than his seasonal numbers thus far. Since the Mavericks don't have a ton of size, the 33-year-old will be used roughly 20-plus minutes per game, even if it's off the bench. Consider him a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats heading into Week 14 (Jan. 28-Feb. 3).
News: Mavericks power forward Elton Brand made his first start since Dec. 6 on Friday night against the Spurs. Receiving the start at center, he scored eight points and hauled in 13 rebounds -- with five coming on the offensive glass -- in the 113-107 loss. He went 4 for 10 from the floor while playing 25 minutes. Brand also blocked two shots and turned the ball over once in the defeat.
Analysis: Brand averaged 8.5 points with 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in the previous 20 games while coming off the bench but could begin seeing more starts in the middle for Dallas. The Mavericks do not have a ton of size so keep an eye on how the 33-year-old is used going forward. Brand has picked up his scoring of late and is doing a better job on the boards so owners in deeper Fantasy formats should consider adding him.
News: Mavericks power forward Elton Brand scored in double figures for the fifth straight game and the seventh time in the previous nine contests on Sunday against the Magic. He finished with 14 points in 23 minutes off the bench. Brand went 7 for 13 from the field and also posted six rebounds with two steals in the 111-105 win.
Analysis: Brand is averaging 13 points with 8.8 rebounds in the last five games while shooting nearly 56 percent during that span. His increase in scoring has gained the notice of owners and he appears to have a favorable schedule for Week 13 (Jan. 21-27). Dallas will face San Antonio and Phoenix during the upcoming scoring period so owners in need of some help in deeper Fantasy formats should consider adding the 33-year-old.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand turned in his best offensive game of the season during Dallas' blowout win over the Timberwolves Monday night. Brand, poured in a season-high 20 points in the 113-98 win on 10 of 13 shooting from the field. He also pulled down six rebounds to go along with three assists and a steal while logging 30 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Brand looked like his old productive self Monday night as he turned in his first 20-point performance since last April when he was still in Philadelphia. The veteran has really struggled to fit in during his first season in Dallas as he entered his latest tilt averaging a career-worst 6.9 points and 6.6 rebounds on the year. However, he has shown some signs of life over the last few weeks and is hitting on 68 percent of his shots over his last five games. He is averaging 10.4 points and 6.4 boards over that stretch, but only 21.8 minutes. While Brand appears to be starting to find his footing, owners should wait until he starts consistently putting up numbers before getting him active again.
News: Dallas power forward Elton Brand has picked up his field goal percentage in his last two games and it has translated into solid scoring. Brand has gone 11 for 17 over his last two games and has scored 23 points in those contests. He also has 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots in those two games against the Jazz and Hornets.
Analysis: Brand is averaging just 6.8 points per game on the season while shooting under 46 percent from the field. He's shooting almost 58 percent from the field over his last five games so it is no wonder he's averaging 9.6 points per game over that span. That comes with 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks for the Mavericks over 22 minutes per game. Brand is no longer an elite Fantasy option, but if he keeps shooting well he can be active in very deep Fantasy leagues.
News: Dallas power forward Elton Brand only managed four points on Tuesday night in a win at Washington. Brand went just 2 of 8 from the field over 21 minutes. He did grab eight rebounds and chipped in with a block and an assist.
Analysis: Brand has only scored in double figures once in his last five games and is averaging just 6.6 PPG on the year. The 33-year-old is past his prime and has low-end Fantasy value in all formats.
News: After missing the previous three games due to a groin injury, Mavericks power forward Elton Brand returned to action Sunday against the Spurs. He scored two points with two rebounds in the 129-91 loss. Brand went just 1 for 4 from the field while playing 14 minutes.
Analysis: Brand has struggled in his first season in Dallas and could lose even more minutes now that Dirk Nowitzki has returned. Nowitzki will be limited in the short-term so keep an eye on the situation going forward. Brand has proven throughout his career to be a reliable option in Fantasy but until he picks up the pace, leave the 33-year-old for deeper formats.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was officially ruled active for Sunday's game against the Spurs despite dealing with a groin issue that caused him to miss his last three games.
Analysis: Brand has been a bust his first year in Dallas as has struggled to find his role in coach Rick Carlisle's offense. He is averaging just 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and should only be active in deeper formats for now.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand missed his third straight game Friday against the Grizzlies as he continues to nurse a groin injury. Brand is being considered day to day with his injury.
Analysis: Brand has been a bust his first year in Dallas as has struggled to find his role in coach Rick Carlisle's offense. He is averaging just 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and should only be active in deeper formats when healthy.
News: The Mavericks were without forwards Brandan Wright (ankle) and Elton Brand (groin) for Thursdays game against the Heat. Both were declared inactive prior to game time. Brand has now missed two games as a result of the injury, while this is Wrights first missed game.
Analysis: Brand has been a major disappointment so far, and an injury can only hurt his ability to contribute. He is averaging just 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, the former of which is a career low by a big margin. At 33, the Mavericks will be careful with Brands recovery, so continue to keep him on the bench until he gets back to health.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand was held out of Tuesday's contest against the 76ers due to a strained right groin. Brand sustained the injury in Dallas' loss to the Timberwolves last Saturday night and is being listed as day to day with his ailment.
Analysis: Brand's injury is not being considered serious, but the Mavericks did a nice job of concealing it until right before tipoff. While his injury is not being considered serious, Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on floor. However, Brand has struggled to find his role in Dallas and should only be starting in deeper formats when healthy.
News: Mavericks forward Elton Brand recorded eight points and five rebounds during Dallas' 119-96 victory over Sacramento on Monday night. Brand, who has returned to a reserve role the past two outings after a one-game cameo in the starting lineup last Thursday, connected on just 4 of his 8 attempts from the field. He also added three blocks -- one shy of his season high -- and a steal during 22 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: It appears Father Time has taken a toll on Brand during his 14th season in the league. The 33-year-old is averaging a career-low 6.5 points per game as he has been demoted to a bench role during his first season with the Mavericks. His scoring has reached strikingly low levels and he's generated just four outings with double-digits in points. Fantasy owners shouldn't depend on Brand outside of deeper formats for now.
News: Dallas forward Elton Brand returned to play in Philadelphia Tuesday night against his former team and said before the game he still has feelings for the Sixers, reports NBA.com. "It's a little surreal coming back," Brand said. Philadelphia used the league's amnesty clause on Brand after last season. Brand played well in a loss Tuesday as he scored 17 points in 19 minutes off the bench. He went 5 of 10 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds with a block.
Analysis: Brand is no longer in Philadelphia mostly because the Sixers knew his best days were behind him. He's proven that this season and is seeing just 22 minutes per game for Dallas. That has waned lately and he's averaging just 3.2 points and 4.6 rebounds over his last five contests entering Tuesday's game. Brand really only has low-end Fantasy value for the deeper formats at this point in his career.
News: Mavericks power forward Elton Brand picked up his first double-double of the season against the Wizards Wednesday night. Brand scored 11 points and hauled in 12 rebounds in a 107-101 victory. He shot 4 of 10 from the field and converted three of his five free throw attempts while chipping in with two blocks and an assist in 30 minutes on the floor.
Analysis: Brand seemed to fare well sharing the court with Chris Kaman and turned in his best performance of the season thus far. He has scored in double figures just twice this season, all of which have come in his last three games. That said, he has not produced at a consistent rate this season, making him a low-end option in deeper formats for now.
News: Dallas power forward Elton Brand missed Wednesday's game against Toronto due to leaving the team to be with his wife who is pregnant, reports the team's official site. Brand is expected to return to action Friday after starting the first four games of the season for the Mavericks. Jae Crowder and Troy Murphy could see a boost with Brand missing from the lineup.
Analysis: Brand scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds with a block in the season opener but has barely registered since. He's probably going to put up mediocre numbers most of the season and only carries consistent value in deeper Fantasy formats, when active.
News: Dallas power forward Elton Brand has been mediocre since a decent season opener and that continued Monday against Portland. Brand scored eight points with five rebounds over 24 minutes in the win. He shot 4 of 7 from the field and added two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Brand scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds with a block in the season opener but has barely registered since. He's probably going to put up mediocre numbers most of the season and only carries consistent value in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Dallas power forward Elton Brand played well in Tuesday's season-opening win in Los Angeles. Brand debuted in the starting lineup for the Mavericks and missed a double-double by two points. Brand went 3 of 10 from the field to score eight points with 11 rebounds to lead the Mavericks. Brand chipped in two assists, one steal and a block over 36 minutes.
Analysis: Brand would definitely gain some value if he can start getting up to eight or nine rebounds per game. He's going to play plenty early on with Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman both injured. If there is any time to be taking advantage of the 33 year-old in Fantasy it is now. He won't be needed for as many minutes when Kaman and Dirk return.
News: The Mavericks were awarded a waiver claim for forward Elton Brand, as they put in a $2.1 million bid on his contract after he was amnestied by the 76ers. The Sixers remain on the hook for roughly $16 million of his salary next season.
Analysis: Brand joins a re-tooled Mavericks team, and he will likely spend much of his time as Dirk Nowitzki's backup. He will still see plenty of minutes for the Mavericks, though, as Nowitzki can slide to center in lineups that feature Brand as well, so this move does not take away much from his Fantasy value. Brand is coming off a season in which he averaged career lows with 11.0 points in 28.9 minutes per game, and at 33, he probably has little room left to improve. He should be in a similar role in Dallas, so consider him more of a mid-to-late round option on Draft Day, as a fringe starter.
News: With one year and about $18 million left on his contract, the 76ers are expected to use the amnesty provision on forward Elton Brand, in order to clear his salary off their books. The move cannot become official until league business resumes July 11, however numerous media reports have indicated that Brand will be let go, with the Sixers intending to sign free agent guard Nick Young.
Analysis: Brand will now be exposed to waivers before he has a chance to become a free agent, and it seems almost certain that somebody will put in a bid for his rights. Brand is coming off a season in which he averaged a career low 11.0 points per game in just 28.9 minutes per contest, though he did manage to hold the rest of his numbers steady for the most part. At 33, his best days are clearly behind him, but Brand will almost certainly have no problem catching on with another team before the season. We'll keep an eye on where he ends up landing, as he should remain a viable Fantasy option for next season, worth targeting in the middle-to-late rounds on Draft Day.
News: With the 76ers playing on the second night of a back to back, forward Elton Brand had his minutes limited on Sunday against the Celtics. Brand played just 15 minutes in the game, after toping 30 in each of the teams previous four games. The Sixers were down big most of the way, so there was no need for Brand to play much, as he finished with six points, two rebounds and an assist in the game, which the Sixers lost, 103-79.
Analysis: Brand has struggled some with consistency this season, as he has now topped 20 points in two of his last five while scoring in single digits in the other three games. Fantasy owners know what to expect from Brand at this point, despite his inconsistencies. He is no longer the must-start Fantasy option he once was, however Brand is productive overall, making him a viable Fantasy start in most formats.
News: Philadelphia power forward Elton Brand didn't contribute much in a big win over Cleveland on Tuesday night. Brand played 32 minutes but scored just eight points with four rebounds. Brand shot 4 of 6 from the field and added two assists and two blocked shots in the win for the 76ers.
Analysis: Brand is just a couple games removed from dropping 20 points on the Celtics. While he has the ability to score, Brand is more or less mostly just a big body for the Sixers at this point in his career. He won't consistently bring home much more than 10-12 points per game with just over seven boards. Brand is also good for at least a block and assist per game and should be active in most Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia power forward Elton Brand scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds during Monday's blowout win over Charlotte. Brand played 31 minutes for the Sixers as he shot 8 of 13 from the field. Brand added two assists in the win.
Analysis: Brand had combined to score just eight points in his previous two games on just 4 of 10 from the field. He was in the mood to take more shots on Monday and it paid off. Still, Brand is averaging just 10.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game on the season. He's no longer an elite Fantasy power forward. Still, owners can still trust Brand in most deeper formats.
News: 76ers forward Elton Brand continues to provide the same consistent, unspectacular production, as he had 16 points and five rebounds on Wednesday against the Pacers. He needed just 13 shots to get his 16 points, as he connected on eight of them. He also had two assists and two steals in the game, which the Sixers lost 111-94.
Analysis: Brand is no longer the nightly double-double threat he was in his youth, however he remains a solid presence for the Sixers and for Fantasy owners. Brand is averaging 12.2 points on 53.8 percent shooting over the last five while grabbing 8.6 rebounds and adding 1.8 blocks per game for good measure. Fantasy owners know what they are getting from Brand at this point on his career, and that is a useful mid-level starting forward in most formats.
News: 76ers forward Elton Brands streak of four games in a row with a double-double ended on Monday against Milwaukee, however he continue to hit the boards hard, finishing with 12 rebounds and six points as the Sixers lost 97-93. Brand played 29 minutes in the game, shooting 2 of 6 from the field, though he did also add two blocks and an assist in the game.
Analysis: Brand has been rebounding much better since the All-Star break, and Sixers coach Doug Collins thinks that the extended time off helped. I think he had more bounce, Collins said. This is our fifth game in seven days. Then we go home and play Wednesday and Friday and play Sunday afternoon in New York. The games just keep coming. EB is such a creature of habit. Mentally for him he has to be in that routine of his. Hes got his routine and he doesnt want to waver. Brand has upped his rebounding, however his offense is lagging behind, as he is averaging just 10.8 points since the All-Star break. Still, he is worth using in most leagues as a low-end Fantasy forward.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand (thumb) started Tuesday night at Detroit. Brand was able to practice Monday without a splint or tape on his injured right thumb and played well in Tuesday's game. He shot 5 of 9 from the field to score 10 points with three rebounds and three blocks as the Sixers ran away with the game. Brand added three assists and three steals for the Sixers. Brand missed the final two games before the All-Star break.
Analysis: Brand would have seen more minutes had the Sixers not been killing the Pistons on Tuesday. He's clearly healthy again and that bodes well for everyone involved. That said, Brand is averaging just over 10 points and just under seven rebounds per game this season with 1.5 blocks. Numbers like that make him viable mostly in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: NBA.com reports Monday that Philadelphia power forward Elton Brand was able to practice without a splint or tape on his injured right thumb. That is positive news for Brand's availability for Tuesday at Detroit as the Sixers open the second half of the season. That said, as reported Sunday, Brand's sprained thumb may never be 100 percent for the rest of the season. Brand's thumb might not be able to completely heal until after the NBA season when he can avoid contact.
Analysis: Brand missed the final two games before the All-Star break and is looking like he has a solid chance to return on Tuesday. That said, he likely won't be 100 percent for the rest of the year at this point. Brand only averaged 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds -- with 1.5 blocks -- per game over the first half of the season. When healthy, he's really only viable in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia power forward Elton Brand should be back with the Sixers soon after the All-Star break, reports CSN Philadelphia on Sunday. Unfortunately, Brand's sprained thumb may never be 100 percent for the rest of the season, however. Brand's thumb might not be able to completely heal until after the NBA season when he can avoid contact.
Analysis: Brand missed the final two games before the All-Star break and could miss a few more before he can return. That said, he likely won't be 100 percent for the rest of the year at this point. Brand only averaged 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds -- with 1.5 blocks -- per game over the first half of the season. When healthy, he's really only viable in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said 76ers forward Elton Brand will miss the next two games due to a sprained right thumb, according to the team. Brand, whose absence will keep him out until after the All-Star break, will miss Tuesday's game at Memphis and Wednesday's outing at Houston. "He reinjured it against Minnesota late in the game when he tried to block that play by Pekovic," Collins said. "Hopefully over the All-Star break that will give it a chance to calm that thing down." Brand, 32, also missed two games earlier this month because of the thumb issue. Andres Nocioni is expected to start in his place.
Analysis: Brand has been bothered by the thumb injury over the past couple weeks and it doesn't appear to be healing quickly. With the All-Star break approaching at the end of the week, Collins determined it could be beneficial for Brand to receive additional rest as the 76ers don't play again until next Tuesday. Brand is shooting just 37.6 percent from this field this month and should be reserved in all Fantasy formats for now.
News: Philadelphia power forward Elton Brand has struggled recently and team owner Josh Harris told CSN Philadelphia that he would not hesitate in using the team's amnesty clause on the veteran. That said, Harris made it clear the team would only do that in order to sign "the right person." Brand is still owed $18.1 million. "Were a deep-pocketed, committed ownership group," said Harris. "But were going to be sensible about it. Were not going to [amnesty Brand] for anyone. It would have to be for someone really good."
Analysis: We don't really expect the Sixers to amnesty Brand, especially if he remains healthy and productive. He's been able to stay healthy, but productive has been another story at times. Brand is averaging just 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and fewer than a block per game over his last five contests and he's shooting just 43 percent from the field over that span. Shooting below 50 percent on the year, Brand is not a must-start Fantasy option by any means. He does still have plenty of value remaining in deeper formats, however.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand failed to score in double figures in his second game in three outings on Friday night. Brand shot 40 percent from the field versus the Mavericks and grabbed just six rebounds. The veteran added a block and a steal in his 30 minutes on the court. The 76ers would lose the game, 82-75.
Analysis: Brand has been struggling to get into a groove this year and his recent outings are no different. He's averaging 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.1 percent from the field over his last five games. Brand is experiencing his worst season in terms of scoring and one of his worst for rebounding. He did have a thumb injury earlier in the season, but the veteran should be posting better numbers than he is. The way Brand is playing right now doesn't warrant a ton of attention, but he can still be considered a No. 4 forward option in some Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand only managed 18 minutes on the court on Monday night in an easy win over Charlotte. Brand did not shoot well in the game as he went 4 for 11 from the field to score eight points. Brand grabbed six rebounds and chipped in a block, steal and assist in the game.
Analysis: Brand is shooting just 39 percent from the field over his last five games despite being at over 46 percent for the season. That said, he's actually picked up his scoring and rebounding of late. If you've been using Brand consistently to this point, continue doing so in most Fantasy formats.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand returned to the floor Wednesday after missing two straight games with a thumb injury, and immediately went to work on the boards, grabbing 13 rebounds in just 27 minutes against the Spurs. He also added 11 points and three blocks, however his efforts were not enough to overcome the Spurs and their deep bench, who won 100-90. It was the fifth double-double of the season for Brand.
Analysis: Brand is having the worst scoring season of his career, as he is down below 11 points per game on the season. To show how poor his scoring his been, three of his double-doubles including Wednesday have seen Brand grab at least as many rebounds on points scored. Still, he is averaging seven rebounds per game, so his overall numbers are still useful. While his overall numbers are down from his career highs, Fantasy owners can still look to him as a viable low-end Fantasy option in most formats.
News: 76ers coach Doug Collins told reporters that Elton Brand will return to the lineup Wednesday against the Spurs after missing two games with a thumb injury. "It's not close to 100 percent," Brand said after shootaround. "It's definitely painful. The swelling has gone down. With Spencer (Hawes) out, you've got to find a way. ... Especially against those big guys."
Analysis: Brand's status went from doubtful to probable overnight, but Fantasy owners have to be happy the veteran forward is set to return to action. Brand is far from the scoring machine he once was, but he still remains productive enough to be a mid-level Fantasy start when active.
News: Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said the 76ers could be without F Elton Brand (thumb) again for Wednesday's game against San Antonio, the team announced Tuesday. Brand has missed the past two games with a sprained right thumb, including Monday's contest versus the Lakers.
Analysis: Brand suffered the injury during Friday's loss at Miami as he continues to trudge through one of the worst seasons of his 13-year career. He is averaging a career-low 10.1 points per game and has surpassed 20 points in an outing once once this season. It's unclear how much time he will miss with the latest injury so Fantasy owners should consider keeping him on the bench as he has been struggling offensively anyway.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand missed his second straight game because of a sprained right thumb Monday night against the Lakers, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "EB, its hard for him to catch the ball and if somebody cracks him on the hand or whatever, he is just not ready to play," 76ers coach Doug Collins said. Lavoy Allen started again in Brand's place for Philadelphia. Brand is targeting Wednesday against San Antonio to return.
Analysis: Brand suffered the injury during Friday's loss at Miami as he continues to trudge through one of the worst seasons of his 13-year career. He is averaging a career-low 10.1 points per game and has surpassed 20 points in an outing once once this season. It's unclear how much time he will miss with the latest injury so Fantasy owners should consider sitting him during Week 7 (Feb. 6-12) as he was struggling offensively anyway.
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand did not play on Saturday night against the Hawks because of a thumb issue, according to the team. He sustained a right thumb sprain on Friday night versus the Heat and failed to score in that contest. He is questionable for Monday's game against the Lakers.
Analysis: Brand has struggled this season and now he's got a thumb injury. This could be why he couldn't buy a bucket on Friday night as his shot was probably affected. In 23 games this year, Brand is averaging just 10.1 points and 6.7 boards. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on this injury heading into Week 7 (Feb. 6-12) to see if he's going to miss extensive time. The 32-year-old looks to be showing signs of his age of late, so Fantasy owners should consider him merely a low-end option, when healthy.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand's shooting struggles continued during Friday night's contest against the Heat. Brand missed all three of his field-goal attempts in the 99-77 defeat, failing to score in blowout loss. He did haul in six rebounds to go along with two blocks and an assist, while logging 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Brand continues to overwhelm this season, as the veteran hasn't even come close to matching his production from a year ago. He is averaging just 6.6 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last five contests and is shooting just 39 percent from the field over that stretch. The 32-year-old looks to be showing signs of his age of late, so owners should consider him merely a low-end option until he starts producing with a bit more consistency.
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand tallied 13 points and four rebounds during the 76ers' 95-74 win over Detroit on Saturday night. Brand drilled 6 of his 11 attempts from the field to reach 50 percent accuracy for the fourth time over his past five games. Brand, who dealt with an illness earlier this week, also contributed three assists and three blocks while playing 28 minutes. He has not missed a game for Philadelphia this season.
Analysis: Brand overcame one of his weakest performances of the season when he matched a season-low four points during his previous outing against Charlotte on Friday. The 32-year-old has started to show signs of his age and has gone five games without a double-double -- tied for the longest stretch of the season. Brand faces a tough schedule in Week 6 (Jan. 30-Feb. 5) with contests against Orlando, Chicago, Miami and Atlanta. Fantasy owners should not consider him more than a No. 3 Fantasy F option in most formats.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand was expected by coach Doug Collins to play in Monday's game against Washington and he didn't disappoint. Brand started the game for the 76ers despite being a game-time decision with a stomach ailment. The power forward got hot early and finished with 17 points on 8 of 14 from the field over 29 minutes. With the 76ers easily in front, Brand was able to rest late in the game. He finished with nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in the performance.
Analysis: Brand has experienced a concerning drop in production during his 13th season in the league as his scoring average is the lowest of his career. The 32-year-old has topped 20 points in a game only once and has just four double-doubles through his first 16 games. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect the same output he has shown in the past and consider him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy F for Week 5 (Jan. 23-29).
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand (stomach) did not participate in the team's shootaround and is listed as a game-time decision against Washington on Monday night, according to the team's official website. Brand is averaging 10.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand was able to score in double figures for the fifth time in his last six games on Wednesday against the Nuggets. He finished with 16 points and hauled in seven rebounds in the 108-104 overtime loss. He went 8 for 14 from the floor but missed his lone free throw while playing 38 minutes. Brand also chipped in with two blocks, an assist and a steal in the defeat.
Analysis: Brand entered Wednesday averaging under double-digit scoring but thanks to his efforts, he was able to get it over that mark. He is putting up 11.6 points with 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in his last five contests, and is shooting 47 percent from the floor over that span. The 32-year-old is no longer the solid Fantasy option he once was but with some low-end production and guaranteed minutes, Brand can continue to be utilized in the majority of formats.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand was finally able to breakout of his season-long slump during Tuesday night's contest against the Kings. Brand finished with a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds in the 112-85 win, on 10 of 14 shooting from the field. He went just 1 of 4 from the free-throw line, but did chip in with three blocks and two assists, while logging 25 minutes of game action. I wasnt frustrated at all, Brand said. If we win, Im happy. I always have confidence in my game. Im not impatient. I knew eventually my time would come where Ill be the go-to guy.
Analysis: After scoring a combined 20 points over his previous three games, Brand was finally able to break out on Tuesday night. The seasoned veteran has been one of the bigger disappointments in Fantasy thus far, although hopefully his latest effort can get back on track. Brand could also be asked to pick up some of the slack on the glass now that Spencer Hawes appears to be re-injured his back, which should bode well for Fantasy owners. Despite his putrid start to the year, we would recommend sticking with Brand for at least another week or two.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand played a solid game and finished with a double-double in a win over New Orleans on Wednesday night. Brand shot 5 for 9 from the field to score 12 points as he grabbed 12 rebounds. He added two blocked shots and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Brand was in double figures in rebounds for the first time all season and the 12 points ties a season high in scoring. Brand needs to be more active for the 76ers, but that might be difficult at 32 years of age with Spencer Hawes playing extremely well inside. Brand is just a No. 3 Fantasy F, at best, at this point in his career.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand did not shoot the ball particularly well on Wednesday night agianst the Suns. He went just 2 for 7 from the field and missed his lone free throw to finish with four points in the 103-83 win. Despite not scoring much, he chipped in with nine rebounds, two steals and an assist while playing 21 minutes.
Analysis: Brand scored 10 points with eight rebounds in the season opener so owners should not worry about his poor performance on Wednesday. He is not the prolific scorer he was in his younger days but the 32-year-old can still produce in Fantasy. Keep an eye on his health status as he has been limited by injuries in recent years. But as long as he is seeing decent run in Philadelphia, continue to roll with Brand as a viable option in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand has gotten off to a slow start in the preseason after Tuesday's finale against the Wizards. Brand shot 2 of 6 from the field Tuesday over 25 minutes to score eight points in the Philly win. Brand added five rebounds, four assists and a block. In the first preseason matchup with the Wizards, Brand scored 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting with five rebounds over 20 minutes.
Analysis: Brand hasn't put up numbers this preseason but he's proven he's healthy and ready for the regular season. Brand's major issue this season is going to be staying healthy over the course of the shortened 66-game season. The 32-year-old isn't getting any younger and the Sixers may have to rest him at times. Still, Brand should be considered just inside the top 40 Fantasy forwards on Draft Day. He's worth a selection beginning in the middle rounds of drafts.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand enjoyed a nice bounce-back season in Philadelphia this season. Brand led the team in scoring (15.0 points), rebounds (8.3) and blocks (1.3) after two injury-plagued, largely ineffective seasons with the Sixers. He only missed one game this season -- as a result of a suspension -- despite dealing with multiple hand and finger injuries. Brand turned in some of his best performances of the season against the Knicks. The veteran averaged 26.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in four games against New York, including a 33-point 16 rebound effort back in February.
Analysis: Brand put together his first productive season with the Sixers after his first two seasons in Philadelphia were considered a bust. The 32-year-old was finally able to stay relatively healthy and was a huge reason why the team was so successful. To put things in perspective, Brand posted 24 double-doubles on the season after recording 17 combined in his first two years with the team. While he is still not back to (nor will probably ever be) back to his 20-and-10 days, Brand was definitley an asset to owners this season. He only did he average just over 15-and-8 but he shot a 51 percent from the field and also averaged 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals per contest. It will be interesting to see if he can duplicate his success heading into 2011, but as long as he stays healthy that shouldn't be a problem. While most Fantasy owners may still be scared to pull the trigger on Brand because of his past, he should be considered a solid mid-round selection on Draft Day.
News: The New York Times reports that Sixers forward Elton Brand has played nearly a month with a fracture in his left hand. The fracture was originally disclosed as an injury that would not prohibit Brand from playing, apparently out of concern that some opposing players might target the hand if they knew it was fractured. Brand has continued to play through the injury with the 76ers still vying for playoff positioning. It still bothers him, Rod Thorn, Philadelphias president, said. Hes had trouble for the last month trying to catch balls. Theres no complaints about it from him. He keeps playing. His confidence, his leadership, have been invaluable to our team.
Analysis: Brand is Philadelphias leading scorer and rebounder. On Feb. 27 he dislocated the pinkie finger on his right hand in a game against Cleveland and began playing with a splint. He sustained the fracture in his left hand in a game 10 days later against the Thunder. He finished the game, playing 41 minutes. In the 13 games since the injury to his left hand, Brands scoring average dipped to 13.3 points. But Brand scored 20 and 21 points in his last two games. For the season, Brand is averaging 14.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.25 blocks a game. He has started every game for Philadelphia this season, except for missing one game for a suspension for a flagrant foul against the Wizards. As long as Brand is active, Fantasy owners should keep him in all lineups, and hopefully he can battle through the hand injury for the rest of the year.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand was able to play through an illness during Friday's 115-90 win over the Nets. Brand, who missed the team's morning shootaround with his ailment, finished with 21 points against New Jersey on 7 of 12 shooting from the field. He went 7 of 8 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with seven rebounds and two assists while logging 30 minutes.
Analysis: Brand was able to play through his illness against New Jersey and finally was able to get his scoring back up. The veteran has been slumping a bit in the scoring department of lately and is averaging a season-low 12.6 points per game in March. Coach Doug Collins said has noticed Brand has been wearing down a bit and will attempt to limit his minutes moving forward. Still, Fantasy owners have to be more than satisfied with the production they have gotten out of the 32-year-old. Continue to view him as a solid mid-range Fantasy option during Fantasy Week 24 (April 4-13).
News: Sixers F Elton Brand was is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Nets. Brand was listed as questionable entering Friday's contest after missing practice on Thursday with the flu.
Analysis: No surprise here as Brand is in the lineup, so owners in daily leagues should feel free to get him active. The veteran has been a consistent Fantasy producer all season long and should remain active in all formats, when healthy.
News: The Sixers report that forward Elton Brand (flu) was at the morning practice Friday and is expected to play Friday night against the Nets. Brand did not practice Thursday.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should count on Brand to play against the Nets. He remains a quality Fantasy option in all leagues when healthy, and hopefully he can finish the year strong.
News: The 76ers report that forward Elton Brand (flu) did not practice Thursday. He will be considered questionable for Friday's game against New Jersey. Brand was able to play Wednesday night against Houston and finished with 8 points, four rebounds and three blocks in 28 minutes.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution in case Brand is out, but he has proven to be a warrior this year by playing in 74 games. When healthy, Brand is a quality Fantasy option in all leagues, and hopefully he can play against the Nets.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Sixers forward Elton Brand suffered a dislocated right little finger on Feb. 27 at Cleveland. Brand later hurt his left hand as well, but he has not missed any games because of the injuries. Coach Doug Collins acknowledged after Sunday's 114-111 overtime loss to the Kings that the injuries could be bothering Brand, who had 15 points and three rebounds in more than 39 minutes. "It looked like he was fumbling the ball a little bit today," Collins said. "His hands are bashed up." Said Brand: "It is definitely a problem. It is nothing that will stop me from playing."
Analysis: As long as Brand continues to play then Fantasy owners should keep him active. The Sixers have four games in this scoring period, and Brand should post quality stats despite the problems with his hands.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand was held out of Monday's four vs. four scrimmage in practice, though the team gave no reason for his absence. Brand scored 10 points with nine rebounds in 35 minutes of action on Saturday in Portland.
Analysis: Brand is not listed among the team's injured players and there is no reason to believe this was anything more than a way to keep the veteran fresh going forward. Brand is averaging 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over his last five appearances, playing over 30 minutes per tilt. The Sixers are slated for three games in Fantasy Week 22 (March 21-27).
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand was able to play through a left hand injury in Friday's 89-86 win over the Celtics. Brand, who has been playing with a dislocated pinkie finger on his right hand, injured his left hand in Wednesday's loss to the Thunder. Elton got banged on the back of the left hand the other night and I think hes going to be OK, coach Doug Collins said. I think he got karate-chopped the other night. Brand finished with 14 points and five rebounds against Boston on 6 of 14 shooting from the field. He also grabbed five rebounds in the contest to go along with three steals and a pair of blocks while logging 26 minutes.
Analysis: Brand is already a splint on his right hand for his injured pinkie and now is dealing with a injury on his left. He had precautionary X-rays taken on the hand before the game and apparently will attempt to play through the injuries. The Sixers play again on Saturday, so Fantasy owners should monitor how fares against the Bucks to make sure his production won't be affected by his latest injury. Brand has been a consistent Fantasy producer all season and should remain active in most formats, when healthy.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand will continue to wear a splint on his right pinkie finger after dislocating it two weeks ago. I think its feeling better and I think hes getting used to the splint, coach Doug Collins told NBA.com prior to Wednesday's game versus Oklahoma City. Were trying to keep his minutes down and his practice time down. This is a very important time and I have to keep my guys fresh. Hes been a warhorse all year long. Brand would see 41 minutes against Oklahoma City as the Thunder beat the 76ers, 110-105 in overtime. Brand scored 13 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, blocked two shots and added two assists.
Analysis: It seems Brand is getting used to this splint, although he shot 5 for 15 from the field and 3 for 5 at the foul line on Wednesday. Despite Collins wanting to limit his minutes, Brand is too important to Philly not to have in the game at crunch time. Over his last 10 outings, Brand is averaging 14.3 points, 1.2 assists and 8.3 boards per contest. Fantasy owners may want to keep an eye on his minutes moving forward, but it seems Brand will continue to be carrying a heavy load the rest of the season. Keep him active in all formats.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand was in the lineup for Friday's 111-100 win over the Timberwolves sporting a splint on his right hand. Brand, who dislocated his right pinky twice last week, is wearing the splint to help keep his finger in place. Hes got to keep the splint on, Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said. Otherwise, itll keep getting dislocated and theres the chance of it getting fractured. Brand finished with 21 points and five rebounds against Minnesota. "I feel good," Brand said. "I was more worried about getting my fourth foul than anything."
Analysis: Brand played through his finger injury on Friday and didn't appear to be bothered by the splint on his hand. There has been no timetable announced for how long he has to wear the brace, although it doesn't seem to be affecting his game. Brand has finally seemed to find his footing during his third season with the Sixers and leads the team in points (15.3) and rebounds (8.8). Consider him a must-start option in all formats as long as he doesn't suffer a setback.
News: The Sixers said Thursday that forward Elton Brand practiced and said his right pinkie finger is fine. He is ready to play in Friday's game against Minnesota, though he is wearing a splint for now. "Elton is a warrior," coach Doug Collins said. "He wants to rip that splint off but we have to keep it on his hand because if he gets it hit again it will dislocate."
Analysis: It appears safe to keep Brand active in all leagues. He has finally seemed to find his footing during his third season with the Sixers and leads the team in points (15.3) and rebounds (8.8). Consider him a must-start option in all formats as long as he doesn't suffer a setback.
News: Sixers guard Elton Brand played through a finger injury during Tuesday night's 101-93 loss to the Sixers. Brand, who dislocated his pinkie on his right hand in his last game, finished with 12 points in the defeat on 5 of 13 shooting from the field. He made both of his free-throw attempts and also chipped in with six rebounds and a steal while logging 35 minutes of game action. After the game coach Doug Collins said Brand dislocated his finger again and had to pop it back in so he could return to action. He did not fracture his finger, however.
Analysis: Brand suffered the injury in Philadelphia's last game against the Cavaliers and said he plans to play through ailment, despite being in a bit of pain. He didn't have his best game by any means on Tuesday night, but Brand has been one of the nice surprises this Fantasy season. He has finally seemed to find his footing during his third season with the Sixers and leads the team in points (15.3) and rebounds (8.8). Continue to view him as a solid Fantasy option in all formats moving forward.
News: The 76ers announced after their morning practice on Tuesday that all players were able to participate and have been cleared to play on Tuesday night against Dallas. That includes Sixers forward Elton Brand, who told the Philadelphia Daily News on Monday that he would be in the lineup for Tuesday night's contest against the Mavericks. Brand dislocated his right pinkie during Sunday's win over the Cavaliers.
Analysis: Brand was able to remain in Sunday's contest after having his pinkie popped back into place in the locker room. Brand played 38 minutes on Sunday and finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. He remains a strong play in Fantasy, barring any setbacks.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand told the Philadelphia Daily News that he will be in the lineup for Tuesday night's contest against the Mavericks. Brand dislocated his right pinkie during Sunday's win over the Cavaliers but was able to remain in the contest after having his pinkie popped back into place in the locker room. Theres a little pain, but it feels pretty good, Brand said. Its all right. and Ill definitely be able to play tomorrow."
Analysis: Brand will be in the lineup on Tuesday, so Fantasy owners should keep him active for Fantasy Week 19 (Feb. 28-March 6). The Sixers play three times during the upcoming scoring period against the Mavericks, Timberwolves and Warriors. Brand is having somewhat of a bounce-back season in Philadelphia, averaging a team-high 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest. Consider him a solid Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand was able to play through a pinkie injury during Sunday's 95-91 win over the Cavaliers. Brand dislocated his pinkie on his left hand while diving for a ball during the second half. He left the game briefly to get his finger taped but was able to return to the contest. He finished with 16 points and eight rebounds in the victory on 7 of 13 shooting from the field. Brand went 2 of 3 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with two blocks, two assists and a steal while logging 38 minutes. "I didn't want to come out, but the medical staff took me to get it fixed," he said. "I felt it when I came back in, but I wanted to play. I'll ice it, be at practice, and try not to think about it."
Analysis: Brand was able to return from his injury and still be somewhat productive. While the injury doesn't appear to be too serious, finger injuries are always a little tricky to figure out. Fantasy owners should consider him a slight injury risk heading into Fantasy Week 19 (Feb. 28-March. 6). The Sixers play three times during the upcoming scoring period against the Mavericks, Timberwolves and Warriors. Brand has enjoyed a nice bounce-back season in Philadelphia and can be considered a solid Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand led the Sixers to a blowout win over the under-manned pistons Friday night, getting the team to 29-29 record after a dreadful 3-13 start. He scored 20 points on 8 of 16 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. Brand secured his fifth double-double in February after pulling down 17 rebounds for the second time in six games. He chipped in a steal and a block on the defensive end in 29 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Brand has played well on all accounts in his resurgent year after disappointments highlighted by injury recently. He has failed to score in double-figures just twice since New Year's Day while averaging nearly nine rebounds per game in the process. Brand has made one of the more convincing pushes for NBA Comeback Player of the Year award this season, with no signs of slowing down. Fantasy owners should continue to utilize the must-start option in all formats moving forward.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand notched 15 points and six rebounds in the 76ers' 117-94 victory over Washington on Wednesday night. Brand posted an identical shooting performance from his previous game and finished 5 of 9 from the field in 28 minutes. It was the highest scoring output in the last six games for Brand, who appeared energized in his first game since the All-Star break. He added two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Brand was coming off a double-double in his last outing, but was held to the lowest rebounding total in his last five games on Wednesday. He is scoring at a solid percentage -- at least 55 percent in his last three games -- but has attempted fewer than 10 shots during that stretch. Brand is still posting a stellar 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season and should remain a must-start in all Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the 76ers' 114-105 victory over Houston on Wednesday night. Brand connected on 5 of 9 attempts from the field to become on of three Philadelphia players to record a double-double (Andre Iguodala posted a triple-double). It was also Brand's 19th overall double-double of the season and first since Feb. 4 against New York. Brand chipped in two assists while logging 33 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Brand continues his resurgent campaign under new 76ers coach Doug Collins and is averaging 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game at the midway point of the season. It's his best numbers at the All-Star break in his three seasons with Philadelphia as he has remained healthy for roughly the entire season. His 34.7 minutes per game are also his highest since 2006-07 with the Clippers (38.6) as he continues to be the 76ers' best post option. Consider him a must-start in all Fantasy formats after the break.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand turned in a monster performance on the glass in Friday's 77-71 win over the Spurs. Brand matched his season high grabbing 17 rebounds in the victory, with 16 of them coming on the defensive end. He also finished with two blocks and a steal to go along with eight points on 4 of 11 shooting from the field.
Analysis: Brand struggled with his shot for the second straight game on Friday, but more than made up for his offensive deficiencies with his monster effort on the boards. Friday's effort marked the second time Brand has recorded at least 15 rebounds over his last five contests and the 31-year-old is averaging 9.6 boards over that stretch. He is also averaging 18.8 points in the month of February and can be considered a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy forward heading into Fantasy Week 17 (Feb. 14-20).
News: 76ers PF Elton Brand, who put up 33 on the Knicks in Friday's win, made it two strong outings to finish Fantasy Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) when he scored 28 against New York on Sunday. Brand added five rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocks.
Analysis: Brand is now averaging 27 points a game in three meetings with the Knicks this season, which is almost 12 above his season average of 15.3. While his Fantasy owners will be wishing he could play New York every night, Brand has still put together a nice '10-11 campaign so far, and remains a nice low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy forward in all formats. Hopefully he can continue to play this well heading into the break and keep off the trainer's table.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand scored a season-high 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help Philadelphia beat the Knicks 100-98 on Friday night. Brand scored 19 of his points in the first quarter on 7 of 8 shooting to help the Sixers jump out to a big lead. He finished 14 of 23 from the field and also chipped in with a pair of blocks, two steals and an assist while logging 42 minutes. "Definitely a long time coming," Brand said. "Important game, game that means something. It's February. We're in playoff position right now. It's absolutely what I came for." Friday marked the 11th time in Brand's career he has registered 30 points and 15 rebounds in a game, but first time since Dec. 5, 2006.
Analysis: Brand has arguably been the Sixers best player this season. Friday marked the first 30-point game of Brand has recorded with Philadelphia and the veteran forward has enjoyed a great comeback season. He has bounced back from injuries and ineffectiveness during his first two years with the club to be a solid Fantasy contributor this season. To put that in perspective, Brand now has 18 double-doubles on the season after registering just 17 in his first two years with the Sixers. He is averaging an impressive 18.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks over his last five contests and should remain active as a high-end forward option in all Fantasy formats heading into Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 7-13).
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand registered 15 points and 10 rebounds in the 76ers' 106-92 victory over New Jersey on Wednesday night. Brand finished 6 of 13 from the field to complete his 15th double-double of the season. The veteran forward has chipped in two blocks and a steal for the fourth game in a row to help Philadelphia capture its second straight victory.
Analysis: Entering Wednesday's game, Brand had not recorded a double-double in his last five games, matching a season-long drought. He emphatically halted the skid and now has five double-doubles in the new year. He is averaging 16.2 points in his last five games and remains a solid Fantasy option. Keep him active as a high-end forward option in all Fantasy formats.
News: It's been four games since Philadelphia forward Elton Brand recorded a double-double. He fell one rebound shy on Friday night against Memphis as he finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. He shot 6 for 14 from the field and connected on 3 of his 4 foul shots. Brand added two assists, three blocks and two steals in his 40 minutes of action. The 76ers would let the lead slip away and eventually lose to the Grizzlies, 99-94.
Analysis: Despite not recording a double-double over his last four games, Brand is still playing well. He's averaging 16.4 points and 8.6 boards over his previous five outings. That's pretty much what he's been producing this year in Philly, which is definitely pleasing Fantasy owners. He's doing everything right and should be considered a high-end forward option heading into Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6).
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds in the 76ers' 100-97 loss at Charlotte on Thursday night. Brand shook off an eight-point performance in his previous game and shot 6 of 13 from the field in 36 minutes. It was the second double-double in his last three games and 14th of the season. Brand had 17 double-doubles in his first two seasons with Philadelphia combined. He added a block and now has seven blocked shots in his last four games.
Analysis: Brand is trying to maintain his strong performance as the second half of the season approaches. Fantasy owners are also hoping the former All-Star can continue his pace and finish with a 15.0 points per game average for the first time in three years. He struggled in his previous game against Orlando but rebounded to hit six-plus shots for the seventh time in nine games this month. Brand remains consistent and should be viewed as a must-start in all Fantasy formats.
News:Elton Brand has been anything but a bust this season for the 76ers. He's finally healthy and happy to shed the label that became attached to his name after his first two disappointing seasons with the Sixers. Brand signed a five-year deal worth nearly $80 million in the summer of the 2008. Brand was hurt most of his first season. Former coach Eddie Jordan buried Brand on the bench last year even before the season completely unraveled and the Sixers spiraled toward the draft lottery. This season, coach Doug Collins has raved about Brand. With good reason. Brand is averaging 14.9 points and 8.7 rebounds. He's also been durable. Brand's 35.1 minutes per game are the most for him in four years.
Analysis: We hope Brand keeps up this level of play for the entire year because he's been great for Fantasy owners in all leagues. As long as he's playing like this he should be considered a must-start option in all formats.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand recorded his second double-double in his last five games on Monday afternoon in an overtime win over the Bobcats. Brand played 46 minutes in the OT win and scored 13 points with 13 rebounds. He shot 6 for 12 from the field and also swatted five shots.
Analysis: Brand has been right around his season averages of 15 points and nine boards per game recently. That is good news as it proves he's been nothing but consistent for Philadelphia. Brand can be utilized as a solid Fantasy forward in all leagues and formats.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand recorded just four rebounds on Tuesday when the 76ers hosted the Pacers. That was Brand's lowest total over his last five games, but he did score 18 points (his highest over that span). Brand shot 8 for 12 from the field and went 2 for 2 from the charity stripe. He added four assists, but it would not e enough as Philadelphia lost to Indiana, 111-103.
Analysis: Brand is averaging 15.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists over his last five games. The veteran has been a nice find for some Fantasy owners -- that drafted him later in the draft or picked him up early in the season. He's almost averaging a double-double per contest, which gives him Fantasy value in the majority of leagues. Owners should keep rolling with the veteran while he's producing at this level.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand recorded his fifth double-double in his last eight games on Saturday night against the Hornets. He led Philadelphia with 14 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the 84-77 loss. He went 6 of 12 from the field, including 0 for 1 from downtown, and converted both of his free throws. Brand, who played 38 minutes, also chipped in with two assists and a blocked shot in the defeat.
Analysis: Brand has been playing well of late, averaging 14 points with 10.8 rebounds and one block over his last five contests. He is also shooting over 46 percent from the field during that span and has gone a perfect 12 for 12 from the charity stripe. After a couple of down seasons, he appears to be getting back to what Fantasy owners are used to seeing from the 31-year-old. As long as he is producing, continue to roll with Brand in a majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia managed to defeat Phoenix on Wednesday despite not having the services of Andre Iguodala for the game. Power forward Elton Brand helped with that. Brand shot 5 of 11 from the field and scored 16 points with seven rebounds and a blocked shot in the performance. He made all six free throws.
Analysis: Brand recorded 16 points for the fourth consecutive game and is clearly scoring consistently right now. That said, he had double-doubles in his previous three contests. Still, owners will take seven boards and Brand is averaging 12.2 over his last five. That comes with 14 points and 1.2 blocks. Brand is playing well and should be active in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand played well again on Wednesday night in a four-point loss to the Boston Celtics. Brand shot 5 for 8 from the field over 29 minutes and recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. He added two blocks.
Analysis: Brand recorded his second double-double in three games. His scoring remains a bit inconsistent, but he's rebounding well, blocking shots and having a good all-around year. Brand has 15 points and 8.3 boards per game on the season and can be utilized all Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand shook off a sluggish shooting performance in his previous game and scored 20 points in the 76ers' 97-89 victory over Orlando on Friday. Brand also pulled down 13 rebounds to notch his ninth double-double of the season. Brand, who shot only 40 percent from the floor against the Lakers on Friday night, connected on 8 of 14 -- the most field goals he's made in 12 games. The veteran added three blocks and an assists as the 76ers won for the fourth time in their last five games.
Analysis: Brand rebounded in a big way from two unimpressive games where he averaged just 11.5 points and 7.0 rebounds -- both under his season averages in both categories. Brand may benefit from opponents focusing on double-teaming Spencer Hawes and leaving him a few uncontested looks. Fantasy owners can hope his 20-point output Saturday -- his first in 14 games -- can spark Brand into higher scoring performances. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy forward in a ll formats.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand managed just eight points and eight rebounds in the 76ers' 94-81 loss to the Lakers on Friday night. Brand struggled to find open looks and connected on 4 of 10 shots during his 34 minutes of action. He failed to record more than 40 percent of his shots for the second consecutive game and his streak of games with double figures in points ended at 11.
Analysis: Brand had been playing well for Philadelphia over the last two weeks -- four double doubles in eight games -- but has now recorded back-to-back sub-par performances. His eight points matched his second-lowest total of the season and he failed to record an assist for the first time in five games. With Spencer Hawes possibly emerging as a threat in the paint, Brand could see fewer defenders swarming around him. Play him as a No. 2 Fantasy forward in all formats.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand scored 15 points in Tuesday's 82-77 win over the Nets. Brand was 7 of 14 from the floor and went 1 of 2 from the charity stripe. He played 34 minutes in the contest and also chipped in with four rebounds, one steal and an assist in the victory. Brand is averaging 14.0 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last five contests.
Analysis: Brand has been playing well for Philadelphia and has seen an increase in his rebounding totals of late. He has had at least 10 boards in four of his last six games and has been seeing around 34 minutes a game this season. Continue to view him as a No. 2 Fantasy forward at his point.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds in the 76ers' 102-101 loss to the Celtics on Thursday. With his seventh double-double of the season, Brand matched his total from last year through 22 games while completing the 368th of his career. Brand, who added three blocks, connected on 5 of his 10 shots as every Philadelphia starter scored in double digits Thursday.
Analysis: After a sluggish start to the season, Brand's rebounding has increased recently, and he tallied a season-high eight offensive rebounds Thursday against Boston. He now has four games with double digits in rebounding in his last six outings and is averaging 9.2 rebounds in that six-game stretch. If he maintains his recent strong play, Brand could be viewed as a quality a No. 2 Fantasy forward in most formats.
News: 76ers F Elton Brand entered Friday's game against the Hawks averaging 14.7 points with 6.7 rebounds over his last three contests. He trumped those stats by scoring 16 points and hauling in 14 rebounds in the 93-88 loss. Brand, who played 38 minutes, shot 7 of 16 from the field and made 2 of 3 free throws. He also had two steals and an assist in the defeat.
Analysis: Brand hit a bit of a rough patch but has come on strong of late and is resembling the player that Fantasy owners know and love. After back-to-back sub-par seasons, he is averaging 15.9 points with 7.9 rebounds. Hopefully he can keep up this type of production but Fantasy owners should ride the hot hand until it cools off. Consider the 31-year-old a No. 2 Fantasy forward at this point.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand scored 18 points in Tuesday's 88-79 win over the Blazers. Brand shot 7 of 10 from the field and made all four of his free-throws in the victory. He saw 36 minutes of action and was able to chip in with three assists and two rebounds.
Analysis: Brand has seen a little dip in his most recent five-game stretch, but he is still playing at a high level for Philadelphia. The veteran is enjoying a nice bounce-back type season thus far and can be viewed a No. 2 Fantasy forward at this point.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand struggled to find his shot on Friday night against Miami, but would finish with 12 points. Brand, who missed one game after serving his suspension, went 4 for 13 from the field, but knocked down all four of his foul shots. He added eight rebounds and an assist, but would turn the ball over five times.
Analysis: Brand entered Friday averaging 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game for the 76ers. The veteran is playing better this season and has Fantasy value again. Owners should keep him active heading into Week 6 (Nov. 29-Dec. 5) as a No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: The NBA suspended 76ers PF Elton Brand for one game for pushing down JaVale McGee in Tuesday's game at Washington. He'll miss Wednesday's game at Toronto.
Analysis: Brand is averaging 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game, bouncing back as a No. 2 Fantasy forward after two mediocre seasons in Philadelphia. If you own him in a daily league, you should obviously bench him for Wednesday's game, but he should be fine for Friday's game at Miami.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand continued playing well on Tuesday night during an overtime loss to Washington. Brand scored 19 points and shot 8 of 14 from the field over 26 minutes. He grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists and had two steals as well. That said, he was not on the court with teammates at the end of the game. That is because Brand was ejected for a flagrant-2 when he shoved JaVale McGee to the floor. McGee posterized Brand on a dunk and that did make the former Blue Devil very happy.
Analysis: Brand has seen a little dip in his most recent five-game stretch, but he is still playing at a high level for Philadelphia. He's averaging 14.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and a steal and block per game over his last five. Those are below his season's numbers, but Brand has consistently played well this year and deserves to be active in most Fantasy leagues. We don't believe he's going to be suspended for his action against McGee on Tuesday. That said, we have seen stranger things so monitor that situation.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand struggled from the field on Friday against Milwaukee as he shot 1 for 7 from the field. He did hit both foul shots giving him a season-low four points. He saw 31 minutes of court time and would grab just three rebounds. He added a steal, a block and two assists in the 76ers 90-79 win over the Bucks.
Analysis: Brand entered Friday averaging 16.9 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. While his stats will take a hit after this game, Fantasy owners should not be too concerned. He's having a solid year for Philly and has a favorable week ahead. Philadelphia faces Washington, Toronto, Miami and New Jersey in Week 5 (Nov. 22-28). Continue to keep him active in all Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia power forward Elton Brand recorded a season-high 27 points while grabbing eight rebounds six offensive in the 76ers 94-86 loss to the Raptors on Wednesday. Brand, always a rebounding force, has now tallied seven of more boards in all but two games this season.
Analysis: Brand continues to feast on weaker opponents as four of his six games with 20-plus points have come against teams with a losing record. He remains Philadelphias best scoring and rebounding option, and is nearly averaging a double-double (16.0 PPG and 8.2 RPG). Continue to roll with him as a solid Fantasy option.
News: Forward Elton Brand had his worst offensive night this season as he scored just eight points on Friday against Dallas. Brand did grab a team-high nine rebounds -- five offensive -- but shot just 3 for 8 from the field. He added two steals and committed three turnovers. Philadelphia would lose to Dallas, 99-90, as Brand failed to score in double figures for the first time this year.
Analysis: Brand has been playing extremely well this season and despite this poor outing, he still almost recorded a double-double. Fantasy owners should be happy with his overall production this year and continue to view him as a solid start in all Fantasy formats.
News: A former All-Star, Sixers F Elton Brand has scored 20 or more in four straight games after scoring 20 points with seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in Sunday's game at the Knicks. It is his longest stretch since seven in a row late in the 2006-07 season for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Analysis: Brand entered camp in the best shape he has been in since prior to his season-derailing injury with the Clippers. He has responded with his best numbers since and is looking like a Comeback Player of the Year candidate in the very early going. For the moment, Brand has returned to being a must-start in Fantasy.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand is playing in a time machine because he looks like the Brand of old for the 76ers. Brand played 36 minutes in Wednesday's blowout win over the Pacers and registered a huge double-double. Brand scored a season-high 25 points and added 12 big rebounds. He also blocked two shots and dished out four assists with no turnovers. Brand shot 9 of 15 from the field.
Analysis: Brand has topped 20 points in three of his last four games and is averaging 18 points and 9.6 rebounds for the season thus far. He's also giving owners 1.8 blocks per game and is looking like a top Fantasy forward right now. Brand is making his Fantasy owners extremely happy at the moment and they are hoping this doesn't come to an end.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand continued his hot start to the season by turning in another strong performance in Tuesday's 116-115 loss to the Wizards. Brand scored a season-high 21 points on 9 of 11 shooting in 42 minutes. He went 3 of 4 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Brand also fouled out for the first time this season in the defeat.
Analysis: Brand is averaging 16.3 points and nine rebounds over the first four games of the season while averaging 42 minutes. He continues to shot well from the floor and looks to be on his to a resurgent season. As long as Brand keeps producing like this, he can be considered a solid No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand registered his first double-double of the season in Saturday's loss to the Pacers. He finished the night with 10 rebounds and 12 points on pedestrian 5 of 16 shooting. Brand was more of a factor defensively, putting in four blocked shots and four steals. He also dished on two assists in his 34 minutes of action.
Analysis: Brand had a subpar night offensively, but contributed in nearly all other statistical categories. He surely is not the offensive option he was in Los Angeles, but he is doing more of the grunt work in Philadelphia. Brand can be a solid No. 3 or 4 forward in Fantasy lineups.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand led his team with nine rebounds in Wednesday's season opener against the Miami Heat. He added 12 points with three steals and two blocked in 34 minutes of action. Brand was 6 for 11 from the field and did not get to the foul line once.
Analysis: Brand was not overly impressive on the offensive end, but he was one of only four players who attempted 10-plus shots and looked to be part of a balanced offensive attack on a night when the Sixers faced a tough defensive team in the Heat. Brand is capable of a resurgent season and as long as you aren't expecting a return to his Clipper numbers, you can be satisfied with his work as a No. 3 or 4 forward.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand shot well over 24 minutes on Wednesday against the Knicks. Brand scored 16 points and chipped in 11 rebounds for a double-double. Brand, who was 7 of 10 from the field, added a blocked shot.
Analysis: Brand had his best performance of the preseason on Wednesday as he tied his preseason high in rebounds and set a new scoring high. Brand's problem has been shooting the basketball. He's taking 10-15 shots per game but he's not hitting them. On Wednesday he hit and he played well. He needs to sustain that. While he probably won't give Fantasy owners a 20-and-10 outing that often, the veteran should do enough to be a productive Fantasy contributor. We consider him a solid No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward heading into Draft Day.
News: 76ers forward Elton Brand was held out of Philadelphia's preseason game with Boston on Wednesday. It was a coach's decision, and not due to an injury. Brand led all starters in the team's opening preseason game on Tuesday, as he netted 15 points and grabbed three rebounds.
Analysis: Brand is trying to rebound -- no pun intended -- from his lowest point and rebound output of his career. He averaged just 13.1 points and 6.1 boards per contest for Philly last season. He's still battling back from a ruptured Achilles' tendon that limited him to 37 games for two seasons. While he probably won't give Fantasy owners a 20-and-10 outing that often, the veteran should do enough to be a productive Fantasy contributor. We consider him a solid No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward heading into Draft Day.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand led all 76er starters in scoring in the preseason opening loss to the Nets on Tuesday. Brand shot 4 of 7 from the field and scored 15 points. He went 7 of 10 from the line and grabbed three rebounds. Brand played 22 minutes for Philadelphia.
Analysis: Brand took a step towards a bounce-back season with his preseason debut on Tuesday. Fantasy owners have been down on Brand as he tries to get back to elite status. The last time this former Fantasy stud was able to produce high-end numbers was during the 2006-07 season, before he suffered a ruptured Achilles' tendon. He has not been able to recover his form ever since. At 31 years of age, the chances of him ever returning to 20-and-10 form are more than remote, but new Sixers coach Doug Collins has made it a point to say that he wants to get the most out of Brand and the veteran showed up at training camp in the best shape he's been in since his injuries. Brand is a solid No. 3 or 4 Fantasy forward and would be even better as a center if he gains eligibility during the season.
News: According to The Trentonian, Sixers F Elton Brand showed up at camp 20 pounds lighter than he weighed last season. It was the first offseason in a while where I didnt have to rehab in the morning, said Brand, who ruptured an Achilles tendon 38 months ago that started a chain of injury issues. I started playing a little bit later ... and I feel the difference. I had a talk with coach, and he had a certain number he wanted me to be at.
Analysis: Brand, 31, is hoping to be in the best shape he has been in since injuries started to derail his career. This is the first sign that Brand could be on the verge of a resurgent season, but he'll have to prove it on the court before anyone believes he can get back anywhere close to the numbers he once put up for the Clippers. Monitor him closely this preseason.
News: 76ers forward Elton Brand finally made it through a full season for the first time since 2006-07. Brand played 76 games in 2009-10 and finished with 13.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. The downside for Brand was this was the lowest scoring and rebounding averages of his career.
Analysis: Brand is only 31, but he is likely on the downside of his career after injuries have robbed him of his explosiveness. He could regain some of his scoring prowess, but the likelihood of him being a consistent double-double threat is probably gone. Still, Brand has value as a starter in deep leagues, and he should be drafted in all formats with a late-round pick in 2010-11.
News:The Sports Xchange reports that Sixers F Elton Brand is averaging just 4.6 rebounds over the last 10 games. He didn't have a single board in 25 minutes versus Toronto on Saturday, marking the first time that's happened in 713 NBA games.
Analysis: Brand has struggled with his consistency all year long and is averaging 11.8 points over his last five games. With the Sixers playing six games during Fantasy Week 24 (April 5-14), Brand only makes for a low-end No. 4 Fantasy forward at best.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand made 11 of 18 shots Tuesday on his way to 22 points against the Thunder. In 40 minutes, he grabbed six rebounds, blocked a shot and recorded a steal.
Analysis: While Brand has scored at least 20 in two of his last four games, he's scored three or less in two of his last five. He is far too risky and inconsistent to consider anything other than a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: After a dismal two-point point performance on Saturday, Sixers F Elton Brand poured in 23 points in a loss to the Magic on Monday. Brand shot 9 of 15 from the floor while adding six rebounds, three assists and three steals in 38 minutes. He has now scored in double figures in three of his last five games.
Analysis: Brand continues to baffle Fantasy owners. One night he is putting up two points and then the next he is putting up 23. He is averaging 12.6 points and 4.6 boards over his last five contests. Until Brand can show any type of consistency, he is a low-end No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand scored 24 points in a loss to the Cavaliers on Friday. Brand shot 12 of 20 from the field while adding nine rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in 44 minutes. It was the first time in his last five games that he has scored 20 or more points.
Analysis: Brand still struggles with his scoring consistency and it seems to be that way all year. He is not the player he used to be and is No. 3 Fantasy forward at best, but he still provides a decent source of rebounds.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand, who missed two games with right Achilles' tendinitis, made a strong return in the first quarter. He scored 12 points and the Sixers shot 57 percent from the floor to lead 25-23. Brand, though, only scored five points the rest of the way. He was bloodied late in the game and sat out for a spell because he had to change jerseys. He returned for the final minutes. Once a double-double regular in his prime, Brand grabbed only four rebounds in 33 minutes.
Analysis: Brand is averaging just 9.7 points in his last three contests while bringing in 3.7 rebounds. Now that he appears to be healthier, hopefully Brand can get back into game form to increase his rebounding. When healthy, he is a No. 3 Fantasy forward at best.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 76ers forward Elton Brand, who missed the last two games with right Achilles' tendinitis, did not practice Thursday. He still is listed as day to day and will be a game-time decision Friday night against Boston. Brand tore the Achilles' tendon in his left ankle two years ago when he was with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Analysis: Brand should be considered a risky Fantasy option, especially with his injury history and his inconsistent play all season. At best, Brand is a No. 3 Fantasy forward, so use caution when setting your lineup in daily leagues.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand did not play against the Hawks on Wednesday due to a sore Achilles' tendon. He's missed two straight games. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Brand hopes to play Friday night against the Celtics. An MRI taken on Tuesday revealed no structural damage. Brand tore the Achilles' tendon in his left ankle two years ago when he was with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Analysis: Brand's numbers were down in February; he averaged 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists 11 games last month. While an MRI on his Achilles' came back negative, he is a risky Fantasy option right now. Keep him reserved in daily leagues until further notice. At best, Brand is a No. 3 Fantasy forward when healthy.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand did not play on "Elton Brand Night" on Monday because of a calf injury. He will not travel with the team to Atlanta for their game with the Hawks on March 3.
Analysis: It looks like Fantasy owners will have to concentrate on inserting Brand into their lineup for Fantasy Week 20 (March 8-14). Keep tabs on Brand, when healthy he makes a decent No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 76ers forward Elton Brand hopes to play against the Magic on Monday. Brand sat out practice with soreness in his calf and is listed as day to day. "Definitely, I don't want to miss any games," Brand said. "We are going to try to play through it for sure." He was hurt in the fourth quarter of a victory over San Antonio on Feb. 19. Brand has played through pain the last four games. "We had a day off, so they just kind of wanted me to rest a little bit," Brand said.
Analysis: It sounds like Brand will be a game-time decision against the Magic, but we expect him to play. Still, he should now be considered a risky Fantasy option, especially with his injury history and his inconsistent play all season. At best, Brand is a No. 3 Fantasy forward, so use caution when setting your lineup.
News: According to the team's official Web site, 76ers F Elton Brand did not practice Sunday due to an injured right calf. He is officially listed as day-to-day.
Analysis: Brand is going to be a mild injury risk for Fantasy owners in weekly formats for Week 19 (March 1-7). The Sixers are slated for four games, which makes it a bit easier to take a risk on Brand, especially in weekly formats. This does not appear to be a serious injury at this time.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Sixers F Elton Brand is averaging 13.6 points in the last six games after averaging 19.3 in the previous six outings.
Analysis: Brand is a far cry from his 20-point days having scored 20-plus just once in his last five contests. As Brand gets older, his high-scoring days will continue to melt away. He can make a very solid No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand scored 18 points to lead the Sixers to a 106-94 win over San Antonio on Friday. Brand played 33 minutes, shooting 9 of 14 from the floor while adding 10 third quarter points. He also finished with eight rebounds.
Analysis: Brand is beginning to produce more, having scored in double figures in four of his last five contests. However, Brand is a far cry from his 20-point days having scored 20-plus just once in his last five contests. As Brand gets older, his high-scoring days will continue to melt away. He can make a very solid No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand failed to reach double figures and scored just eight points in a 105-78 loss to Miami on Tuesday. Brand shot 4 of 10 from the field in 34 minutes of play while adding five rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Brand, who had been playing better some his better basketball prior to the All-Star break, failed to reach double digits for the first time in his last five games. He is averaging 12.8 points over that span to go along with 5.6 rebounds. For someone with as much skills as Brand, he could be an elite Fantasy option, but the production on the court leaves him as a No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand scored 21 points against the Timberwolves on Tuesday, his 13th straight game in double figures. He added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Analysis: Brand's numbers are up a bit in February. Through four games he's averaging 17.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He's scored in double figures in 13 straight outings. However he's not grabbing a ton of rebounds. He is a No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand scored 13 points in Saturday's win over Houston. In 27 minutes he shot just 5 of 14 from the field, adding five rebounds, three assists and one block.
Analysis: Brand's production hasn't seen a noticeable rise since being inserted into the Sixers' starting lineup last month. Over his last five games he's averaged 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.8 blocks. That's solid, but not much of a boost from the numbers he put up when coming off the bench. He still resembles a No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand was fantastic on Wednesday night in a win over the Bulls, one of his former teams. Brand scored 26 points and shot 12 for 22 from the field. He added nine rebounds, three blocked shots and a steal.
Analysis: Brand has been much improved over his last five games and is averaging 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.4 steals and almost two blocks per night. Finally resembling the former All-Star he once was, now is the time to utilize Brand in all Fantasy leagues once again.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand had another solid game on Friday, recording 19 points and nine rebounds against the Lakers. He stuffed the stat sheet in 40 minutes, adding three assists, three steals and three blocks.
Analysis: Brand is playing increased minutes lately, and making the most of them. In his last five games he's averaging over 35 minutes a game, and registering 18.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks. He's currently playing like a No. 3 forward.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand had a big game Wednesday at Milwaukee as the Sixers took the loss. Brand scored 26 points for a new season high as he shot 12 of 20 from the field over 39 minutes. He added 10 boards for a double-double and managed two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Brand might be beginning to figure out the scoring drought as he's averaging almost 17 PPG over his last five. That comes with 6.4 rebounds and a block per night. Coach Eddie Jordan is beginning to lean on Brand more in games and that is good news for Fantasy owners. Brand still isn't a nightly threat to do this but he's getting better and that is what counts. Start him in the majority of Fantasy leagues right now.
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand scored 23 points to help lead the Sixers to a 107-97 victory over Indiana on Saturday. Brand played 37 minutes, shooting 9 of 20 from the field and adding seven rebounds and four assists.
Analysis: Sixers head coach Eddie Jordan has used a new lineup the last two games that has included Brand as part of the starting five. Jordan seems to like this lineup and is going to stick with Brand. Brand had not scored 20-plus points in the last seven games, but if he sees more minutes and continues his production, he makes a strong No. 3 or decent Fantasy No. 2 forward.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers coach Eddie Jordan told reporters prior to Friday night's game against Dallas that he is considering re-inserting Elton Brand into the starting lineup. He did not do so for Friday's game, however. Brand would either replace Thaddeus Young at power forward, or Lou Williams would return to the bench with Young moving over to small forward and Andre Iguodala playing shooting guard.
Analysis: Brand is getting good minutes off the bench, so this move would not change things all that much. He is averaging close to 30 minutes per game over his last five contests, but that has only translated to 12 points and just under five boards per game. The main problem here is that Young, Brand and Marreese Speights cut into each other's numbers. While all are healthy, that should continue. Add to that the recent surge by Samuel Dalembert, and there isn't much room for Brand to post big numbers. He remains a viable No. 3 forward for now.
News: 76ers PF Elton Brand scored 10 points on Monday in a loss at Minnesota. Brand played 27 minutes and shot 3 of 7 from the field. He added seven rebounds, three steals and one block.
Analysis: Brand is averaging 14.4 points per game with 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals over his last five contests over 28 minutes per night. Outside of a 25-point effort among that span, however, Brand has really underwhelmed of late, even more than usual. He's shot poorly and his rebounding numbers aren't anywhere near where owners would like them to be. Brand has the ability to be a No. 2 Fantasy forward but only consistently plays like a No. 3 or worse.
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand returned from a stomach virus and matched a season high with 25 points in a 104-94 victory over Detroit Saturday. In 28 minutes of play, Brand was 10 of 16 from the field and added four rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Brand came back in a big way after recovering from a stomach virus that sidelined him against Toronto on Friday. When Brand is healthy, he has the ability to score anywhere from 15-20 points per games and add good field goal percentage. He should be a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy starter in most leagues.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, coach Eddie Jordan said that F Elton Brand (stomach virus) is "feeling better and he's ready to go."
Analysis: Prior to sitting out Friday, Brand had been averaging just over 16 points in his last five games and just over five rebounds per game. He is no longer the 20-10 player he once was, but Brand's production has been strong enough to make him a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy option.
News: Philadelphia F Elton Brand did not play Friday due to a stomach virus. This is the fourth game that Brand has missed this year.
Analysis: Prior to sitting out Friday, Brand had been averaging just over 16 points in his last five games and just over five rebounds per game. He is no longer the 20-10 player he once was, but Brand's production has been strong enough to make him a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy option.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand had another strong performance coming off the bench on Monday in a win at Portland. Brand went 11 for 16 from the field, scoring 25 points to lead the team. He also had nine rebounds, a block and a steal. It was his best scoring performance of the season.
Analysis: Brand has scored in double digits in every game during the month of December and is averaging 15.4 points during that span. He is no longer the 20-10 player he once was, but Brand's production has been strong enough to make him a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy option.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand, who has mostly come off the bench since returning from a hamstring injury in late December, had 18 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks Tuesday at Washington. He's now averaging 15.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 11 games since the injury.
Analysis: Brand got off to a slow start this season, but the move to the bench has helped him recapture some of the form he had in his earlier days with the Bulls and Clippers. He's no longer a 20-10 player, but he's worth using as a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward right now.
News: 76ers PF Elton Brand managed 23 points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench Friday as Philadelphia edged the Celtics 98-97.
Analysis: As long as Brand keeps putting up numbers like this, his Fantasy owners won't care if he's starting or coming off the bench. Feel free to use him in Fantasy leagues as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy forward, although don't expect games like this every night.
News: Philly PF Elton Brand was back coming off the bench on Monday in a win over the Warriors. He scored 11 points over 17 minutes and shot 5 of 7 from the field. Brand added seven boards.
Analysis: Brand returned from injury a few games back and had been starting the previous four contests. He actually played well in those games with two double-doubles so we're not sure why he came off the bench on Monday. It is possible the Sixers just like this rotation better and it certainly worked against the Warriors with the easy win. Brand still played fairly well and he can continue to see use in Fantasy leagues as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy forward. He's certainly not the superstar he once was.
News:Elton Brand returned to the starting lineup for Friday's game against Charlotte. He had come off the bench for two games following his return from a hamstring injury. Brand finished the game with 14 points and 8 rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
Analysis: Brand returned to the lineup thanks to a lineup shuffle. With Lou Williams out a couple of months with a broken jaw, the Sixers were also without replacement Jrue Holiday Saturday. Coach Eddie Jordan moved Willie Green to point guard and Iguodala into the backcourt. That allowed Elton Brand to start after he came off the bench for two games following his return from a hamstring injury. Fantasy owners can no longer rely on Brand as a high-end starter in Fantasy leagues, but he's still a good play in most formats while healthy.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand, who missed three straight games with a sore right hamstring, returned to the court Monday at Dallas. He played 25 minutes off the bench and had 21 points and 10 rebounds. He had only one other 20-point effort all season.
Analysis: Brand, who has missed most of the last two years with injuries, looks like a shell of his former self. Maybe this performance will help get him back on the right track, but his numbers so far make him a No. 3 Fantasy forward at best.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand (hamstring) will play Monday night in Dallas. The Inquirer reported on Monday that Brand possibly could have played on Sunday at San Antonio despite his sore right hamstring.
Analysis: The team decided to hold him out for the third straight game citing the game on Monday at Dallas. Brand appears to be a safe play for Fantasy Week 6 (Nov. 30-Dec. 6).
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Monday that PF Elton Brand possibly could have played on Sunday at San Antonio despite his sore right hamstring. The team decided to hold him out for the third straight game citing the game on Monday at Dallas. Brand is officially a game-time decision for the Mavericks game.
Analysis: Brand is still an injury risk for Fantasy Week 6 (Nov. 30-Dec. 6) but he is a bit of a smaller risk as he should be back on Monday at Dallas and not miss any time. There is definitely still doubt in whether or not he'll return against the Mavs but this is good news to Fantasy owners. Brand is worth using in any Fantasy format if he can go.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand missed his third consecutive game with a sore right hamstring on Sunday at San Antonio. Coach Eddie Jordan said Brand could still wind up playing the final three games of this four-game road swing for Philadelphia.
Analysis: Brand is still an injury risk for Fantasy Week 6 (Nov. 30-Dec. 6) but he is a bit of a smaller risk as he could be back as early as Monday. Monitor his status up until lineups lock on Monday to see if he will be playing at Dallas. When healthy, Brand is a must-start Fantasy option.
News: The Philadelphia Intelligencer reports that Elton Brand is "likely to sit out" Sunday in San Antonio before returning Monday in Dallas.
Analysis: If Brand is indeed held out Sunday, the report adds that it is because the team is taking a very cautious approach with him. It does sound like Brand will be ready to return for Monday's game in Dallas, making him someone you could decide to activate for Week 6 (Nov. 30-Dec. 6).
News: Sixers F Elton Brand misses his second game in a row on Friday against the Hawks due to a hamstring injury. Brand suffered the injury on Tuesday against the Celtics. It is not supposed to keep Brand out much longer.
Analysis: Brand's injury is not thought to be serious, so look for him to potentially be back on Sunday at San Antonio. He has been a solid producer with Marreese Speights injured and not taking away some of his production. Brand is a solid start in most formats when healthy.
News: 76ers PF Elton Brand suffered a sore left hamstring Tuesday against Boston and could not play on Wednesday vs. the Celtics. He is questionable for Friday against Atlanta. Coach Eddie Jordan believes he'll be just another day or two.
Analysis: Brand will be treated as day to day and Fantasy owners should keep close tabs on his progress. Reserve him where possible in daily lineup leagues. He had been producing well in the absence of Marreese Speights prior to getting hurt and is a solid start when healthy.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand was ruled out for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. He suffered a sore left hamstring Tuesday against Boston.
Analysis: Brand will be treated as day to day and Fantasy owners should keep close tabs on his progress. Reserve him where possible in daily lineup leagues. He had been producing well in the absence of Marreese Speights prior to getting hurt and is a solid start when healthy.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game at Boston. Brand left Tuesday's game against Washington with a sore left hamstring.
Analysis: Given the quick turnaround it is highly likely Brand misses the game after getting hurt Tuesday. Reserve him where possible in daily lineup leagues. He had been producing well in the absence of Marreese Speights prior to getting hurt.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand left Tuesday's game against Washington with a sore left hamstring, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. He is considered day to day.
Analysis: Brand and the Sixers are slated to play Wednesday against Boston and given the quick turnaround it is highly likely he misses that game. Reserve him where possible in daily lineup leagues. He had been producing well in the absence of Marreese Speights prior to getting hurt.
News: After three straight games of at least 18 points and two of them being double-doubles, Philly's Elton Brand was back to playing poorly on Tuesday against the Wizards. Brand shot 1 of 9 from the field and scored just four points in 27 minutes. He added seven rebounds and one block.
Analysis: Brand had his worst shooting night of the season on Tuesday night. He'd been putting up numbers reminiscent of the Brand of old of late but that was not the case on Tuesday. Hopefully he goes back to playing at a high level because Fantasy owners can't tolerate this type of poor game.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand had 18 points and 14 rebounds in Saturday's game at Cleveland. It was his second double-double in his last three games.
Analysis: Brand is starting to look like his old self again. The absence of Marreese Speights has allowed him to step up his production. He is averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds over his last five games with 2.2 blocks and 2.2 steals. He is back to being an elite option and Fantasy owners should make the most of it while it lasts.
News: 76ers PF Elton Brand finally had a big game on Wednesday against Charlotte. Brand has been struggling but looked good against the Bobcats with 19 points and 11 rebounds. The double-double was just his first of the season. He shot 8 of 17 from the floor and also blocked six shots. Brand was clearly a catalyst in this victory. "That's not my best," Brand said. "I've still got a lot better games ahead of me. I still feel like I missed some easy shots." Brand played a season-high 41 minutes, including meaningful minutes down the stretch. In six of the last seven games, Brand didn't play at all in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: It is crazy to think that Brand has played in nine games this season and only now saw his first double-double. Hopefully he can continue to play as he did on Wednesday because that is exactly what his owners hope to get out of him. He might have the upside of a No. 2 Fantasy forward, but you can't use him as more than a No. 4 until this happens a little more consistently.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand missed all six of his field-goal attempts in 23 minutes of play Wednesday at New Jersey, scoring five points. He also had six rebounds and a steal. He has scored in double figures only once in his last five games, averaging 7.0 points per game.
Analysis: Brand struggled with injuries last year and averaged only 13.8 points when he played. His days as a 20-10 player appear over, and now you have to wonder if he'll even meet the numbers he put up last year. He might have the upside of a No. 2 Fantasy forward, but you can't use him as more than a No. 4 right now.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand had just 6 points with 4 rebounds in Tuesday's loss to the Celtics. It was his second game under 10 points.
Analysis: Brand had 8 points and 6 rebounds in the opener at Orlando, but followed that up with 17-and-6 against Milwaukee and 16-and-7 against the Knicks. He is off to a rocky start, but the ability for games like he had against Milwaukee and New York make him tough to sit.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand, limited to 29 games last year because of a shoulder injury that required surgery, had his best game of the preseason Tuesday at New York. He had 20 points and eight rebounds, shooting 8 of 12 from the field and scoring 10 points in the third quarter, when the 76ers rebounded from an ugly second period to take the lead for good. "That's the way I played when I'm healthy, and I'm healthy, so that's the way I'm going to play," Brand said. "Aggressive, get to the line, hit free throws and cause double-teams, and once the double-teams come, we've got some prolific scorers, guys that can put up points."
Analysis: At his best with the Clippers and Bulls, Brand was a 20-10 guy. He wasn't nearly as impressive before the injury last year with the 76ers, though, and given his injury risk, you don't want to draft him too early. We rank him as about a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward, but if you can get him in that range, you might end up with a steal.
News: Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said at practice that Elton Brand, who proclaimed himself recovered and ready to go, has looked healthy in various summer workouts. "It's going to take a while for him to really get his game legs, his season legs, under him," Jordan said. "He may surprise us and be a little bit ahead of the curve and really play at a high level in November."
Analysis: At his best with the Clippers and Bulls, Brand could automatically be counted on to lead the team each game in points and rebounds. But he's missed most of the last two seasons and might not ever regain his All-Star form. Jordan said Brand will get every opportunity to prove he's the force he was the first eight years of his career. He averaged only 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds in 29 games in the first season of a five-year deal and had season-ending shoulder surgery in early February. If the Sixers power forward can regain his 20-10 form, he would be a steal in Fantasy leagues.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports new 76ers coach Eddie Jordan said at his introductory news conference that Elton Brand, who was lost for the season to a shoulder injury, will return next year playing both forward and center.
Analysis: This is good news for Brand, who didn't seem to fit in with the previous system in Philadelphia but could thrive in a more natural role down near the basket. Remember, Brand was a 20-point, 10-rebound player before getting hurt two years ago with the Clippers when he ruptured his Achilles' tendon. In the right offense, where Jordan can get Brand the ball, we think Brand can return to being a No. 2 Fantasy option. When healthy, Brand can be a dominant force.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that Elton Brand had his four week post-operative examination Tuesday. Brand is no longer required to wear his sling and his rehabilitation will now include more active exercises and gentle, passive range of motion exercises.
Analysis: Brand will be re-evaluated in two weeks, according to the report. He played in 29 games for the Sixers before surgery Feb. 9 to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder. He averaged 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds and never seemed to fit the Sixers' system well. He is only worth owning in keeper leagues at this time.
News: Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand will need six months of recovery on his surgically repaired right shoulder and should be ready for the start of the 2009-10 season. "He's got a 95 percent chance of returning as good as he is or was before," said Brand's surgeon, Dr. Craig Morgan.
Analysis: Morgan repaired the torn labrum in Brand's right shoulder on Monday. Brand, who dislocated his right shoulder against Milwaukee on Dec. 17, needs a sling and can start range-of-motion exercises in about four weeks. Morgan said on Tuesday that Brand could start shooting and dribbling in about three months, and needs an additional three months to return to full strength. He averaged 13.8 points and 8.8 rebounds in only 29 games for the Sixers in the first season of a five-year, $80 million contract. He is only worth owning in keeper leagues at this time.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder on Monday. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Analysis: Brand has been a disappointment for Fantasy owners the past two seasons. Brand missed almost the entire 2007-08 season with a ruptured Achilles, and in his first year with the Sixers, he was limited with the shoulder injury. It appears safe to release Brand in all leagues. Hopefully he can rehab the injury and come back next year at 100 percent.
News: Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand will miss the rest of the season and need surgery on his dislocated shoulder. Brand was first injured in a Dec. 17 game against Milwaukee and has played in six games since his return, averaging only 5.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 18 minutes a game. Brand went scoreless and did not play in the second half of Tuesday's 100-99 loss to the Celtics. In his eight minutes, Brand wore a brace on his shoulder for the first time. Brand signed a five-year deal worth nearly $80 million in July and averaged only 13.8 points in 29 games. "Elton wanted to do whatever he could to get back on the court and initially elected to forgo surgery in order to help his teammates," team president Ed Stefanski said. "He worked as hard as he could over the past six weeks to return, however the scope of the injury would not allow it."
News: Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand missed practice Wednesday and is day to day because of a shoulder injury that forced him to miss 16 games. Brand had an MRI after sitting out the second half of a 100-99 loss to Boston on Tuesday night. The test revealed no new damage to his right shoulder, and he could play against Indiana on Thursday night. Brand has come off the bench the last six games since returning from the injury.
Analysis: Brand has averaged 19.4 minutes in his past five games while averaging 5.6 points and 5.0 rebounds. He is not helping Fantasy owners at this time, and it might be a good idea to let him rest, maybe through the All-Star break, which ends Feb. 17. For now, keep Brand reserved in all leagues even if he's healthy because he's not playing well since the shoulder isn't right.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports Tuesday that Sixers forward Elton Brand is having discomfort with his injured shoulder. Brand has played six games since coming back from his dislocated right shoulder, but he has become more aware of pain and restrictiveness as he tried to shoot or reach for rebounds. On Tuesday against Boston, Brand was wearing a large protective pad around the shoulder, and he played only eight minutes of the first half before sitting out the second half. The paper reports the team is considering shutting Brand down to allow more time for healing. He sat out 16 games after getting hurt Dec. 17 against the Milwaukee Bucks. "We're going to look at it," Brand said. "It's hard when you're feeling pain and you can't straighten your arm out on your shot. I have a little flip shot I've used all these years, and I can't do it. That was why I tried to wear the brace, but that didn't really help. It's just disappointing."
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that Elton Brand could be used to start at center in place of injured Samuel Dalembert. Dalembert injured his left ankle Friday and could be forced to miss some time due to the injury. So the Sixers could use Brand at center, leaving Thaddeus Young at power forward.
Analysis: The severity of Dalembert's injury remains to be seen, although the Sixers were terming it a sprained ankle. They said X-rays were negative and that an MRI scan had not been ordered. Including Friday night, Dalembert has started 235 straight games. Brand could wind up picking up center eligibility in leagues that allow for multiple positional eligibility with five starts. However, that would mean Dalembert would have to be out for over a week. Brand still does not appear to be 100 percent recovered from his shoulder injury, averaging just 7.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in his four games since returning. The added eligibility would certainly help, though, when he does get back to full strength.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand was held scoreless Monday in New Orleans in his second game back from his shoulder injury. He played 18 minutes and was 0-for-3 from the field. He added three rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Brand played 18 minutes in the game, five more than he played in his return Saturday. He is clearly still not 100 percent and could take him a good week or so to get his playing legs back under him. Fantasy owners should monitor his progress over the week to determine whether or not he is ready to be activated for Fantasy Week 15.
News: Sixers forward Elton Brand had no setbacks in his return Saturday against New York, reports the Philadelphia Daily News. Brand played 13 minutes and finished with six points, three rebounds, an assist and two blocks. He is ready for an increased role this week even if he remains a reserve. "I feel very comfortable," he said. "I'm playing through the sets, and I'll get opportunities and everyone else will continue to get their opportunities."
Analysis: The paper reports Brand will eventually return to his role as a starter, but for now his minutes will be limited after missing 16 games with a dislocated shoulder. Go into this scoring period with Brand as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option and hope his minutes and production continue to increase.
News:Elton Brand was listed on the Philadelphia 76ers active roster and played in Saturday night's game against the New York Knicks after missing 16 games with a shoulder injury. Brand came off the bench and scored six points in 13 minutes. He was 3-of-4 from the field with three boards and two blocks.
Analysis: The power forward signed a five-year, $80 million contract in the offseason with Philadelphia. He is averaging 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds in 23 games. Keep an eye on how Brand does and how many minutes he plays in his return. He should be able to post solid stats even in a reserve role. For now, continue to monitor his status but consider him a No. 2 Fantasy option heading into the next scoring period.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the 76ers should have forward Elton Brand back Saturday against the Knicks. Brand took part in a full-court, five-on-five scrimmage for the first time since he suffered a dislocated right shoulder on Dec. 17 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said Brand would come off the bench and play in spurts against the Knicks. "He still has to get his timing offensively, as far as his rhythm, shooting, playing with other players and picking up the plays," said DiLeo, who had Brand practicing with the second unit. "With this kind of injury, you can't shy away from getting a rebound or going hard to the hole because it might pop out," said Brand, who is averaging 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds a game. "You just have to play like you know how to play."
Analysis: Keep an eye on how Brand does and how many minutes he plays in his return. He should be able to post solid stats even in a reserve role. For now, continue to monitor his status but consider him a No. 2 Fantasy option heading into the next scoring period.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said Monday that the Sixers are planning for Elton Brand to return from his shoulder injury Saturday against the Knicks. Brand missed his 16th consecutive game Monday as the Sixers lost to the Dallas Mavericks. Brand has not played since Dec. 17, when he dislocated his shoulder against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Analysis: The report adds that sitting out last night's game also offered Brand four additional days of rest because the Sixers do not play again until Saturday against the New York Knicks. Fantasy owners should use Saturday's game to see how ready he will be to use in Fantasy leagues for the upcoming scoring period. The Sixers say they will limit his minutes upon his return, so Fantasy owners with other options should wait until he gets back to some semblance of his old self before activating him again.
News: Sixers F Elton Brand (shoulder) did not return to action for Monday's game against Dallas. He had hoped to return for this game, but will now have another five full days to recover before Saturday's game against San Antonio.
Analysis: Brand was a very risky play coming into the scoring period as it had been announced that he would be limited upon his return anyway. Plus, the Sixers play just two games in the scoring period. It does sound like he will be back on Saturday and Fantasy owners will get a chance to start activating him again for Week 14.
News: The Philadelphia 76ers decided to wait at least one more game before putting Elton Brand back on the floor. Brand didn't play Saturday night against the New York Knicks, but could return Monday afternoon when the 76ers host Dallas. Coach Tony DiLeo said Brand would practice Sunday, then be re-evaluated before a decision was made. DiLeo said when Brand does come back, it will at first be as a reserve playing short stints, perhaps 5-6 minutes at a time. "He'll be coming off the bench and we'll just try to work him in slowly," DiLeo said. "He really hasn't had like a full practice. We haven't had time to have a full practice where we went up and down the court and he could scrimmage for 20 minutes. We really haven't had that possibility."
Analysis: The good news is Brand is definitely coming back soon after missing 15 straight games. The bad news is that he's still iffy for Monday and won't be full time at first anyway. For that reason we cannot recommend starting him in Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 19-25) just yet. Wait until he proves he can play at a high level with big minutes first.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand failed to return to the team's lineup on Friday as the Philadelphia Enquirer suggested he might. Brand has been out since suffering a dislocated shoulder in a Dec. 17 game against the Milwaukee Bucks and returned to practice on Monday. He remains questionable for Saturday's game at New York.
Analysis: Pay close attention to Brand's status leading into Week 13 (Jan. 19-25) of the Fantasy season. If he is able to play on Saturday, then he will be a likely candidate to start for your Fantasy team in the next scoring period. If not, he'll be an injury risk. He is available in 25 percent of leagues, so if you're in one of those leagues go ahead and pick him up.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand (shoulder) could play Friday night against San Antonio. Brand has been out since suffering a dislocated shoulder in a Dec. 17 game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He returned to practice on Monday. "He'll be a game-time decision," head coach Tony DiLeo said after the team went through a brief workout Friday.
Analysis: DiLeo also said this week he has not decided whether Brand would immediately return to the starting lineup. So Fantasy owners will have to wait and see, even when he does return, where he is at in order to determine how useful he will be from a Fantasy standpoint. It isn't a bad idea to keep him reserved until he can prove both healthy and productive.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand suggests he will be back for Friday's game against Milwaukee. Brand has been out since Dec. 17, when he suffered a dislocated right shoulder in a game against Milwaukee. Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said the team would reevaluate Brand's status after Thursday's practice. DiLeo said Brand could return this weekend. "When he does come back, it will be limited and in segments."
Analysis: DiLeo said he has not decided whether Brand would immediately return to the starting lineup. So Fantasy owners will have to wait and see, even when he does return, where he is at in order to determine how useful he will be from a Fantasy standpoint. It isn't a bad idea to keep him reserved until he can prove both healthy and productive.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand sat out of Wednesday's game against the Blazers as expected as he continues to near a return. He is making full-contact in practice for the first time since Dec. 17.
Analysis: Brand continues to progress but is still not ready to get back on the floor for the Sixers. A decision about his return to the lineup will be made by the team's medical staff and Brand himself and he will return whenever he is feels comfortable. He could be back soon could be ready to be activated for Week 12 (Jan. 19-25). He is available in 26 percent of leagues at the moment, so if he's available in your league, go snatch him up.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand (shoulder) was able to participate in full-contact practice Monday. It was the first time since he dislocated his right shoulder on Dec. 17 that he was able to participate in contact drills.
Analysis: Brand practiced in contact drills, but was still limited to the half court. He said he would participate in both half court and full court scrimmages Tuesday. A decision about his return to the lineup will be made by the team's medical staff and Brand himself and he will return whenever he is feels comfortable. Brand, however, said Wednesday's home game against Portland "might be out", but it sounds like he could return very soon and might be ready to be activated for the upcoming scoring period. He is available in 28 percent of leagues and he should not be.
News:Elton Brand is making progress while rehabbing his injured right shoulder and the 76ers forward could be back with the team in about two weeks. "I can feel it coming," Brand said Tuesday. "It's not far away and that's very encouraging." Brand hasn't played for the struggling Sixers since he sustained a fracture and tear in his right shoulder on Dec. 17 against Milwaukee. Brand, who signed an $80 million, five-year contract with the Sixers in the offseason, is averaging 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds in 23 games. Brand hopes to return to practice within the week. "That's the true test is the contact," Brand said.
Analysis: Brand remains a must-start upon his return to the Sixers, which still figures to be around the end of January.
News: The Associated Press has confirmed the Philadelphia Inquirer report that Elton Brand will miss at least a month with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. An MRI also revealed a fracture of the humeral head (bone). He suffered the injury in Wednesday's game against Milwaukee.
Analysis: The report added that Sixers team doc Jack McPhilemy said he doesn't think the injury requires surgery at this time. Brand will begin rehab immediately and is expected to be out until at least late January. Expect Thaddeus Young to take on a bigger offensive role in the meantime. Reggie Evans and Marreese Speights should see an increase in playing time.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand dislocated his right shoulder with 7:23 left in the third quarter Wednesday night after landing on Milwaukee's Luc Mbah a Moute in a win over the Bucks. Brand finished with four points and six boards. He entered the game averaging a team-best 16.4 points. Brand was scheduled to have an MRI late Wednesday night. "It would be a big blow to our team if he is out," coach Tony DiLeo said.
Analysis: Brand signed a five-year, $80 million contract on July 9 after seven seasons with the Chicago Bulls and two with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was limited to only eight games last season with the Clippers because of a left Achilles' injury. This isn't the same thing, however, so hopefully Brand only needs minimal recuperation time. Team doctors were able to pop it back in place. He'll definitely be questionable heading into the 76ers' next game on Friday at Washington.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand played on Saturday like, well, like Brand. The Sixers dominated the Wizards and Brand scored 27 points on 12-of-19 shooting with nine boards and a block. Brand had a total of 17 points in his previous two games.
Analysis: Brand is still averaging in double figures in rebounding lately but his scoring has dipped beyond belief averaging just under 16 points for the season. Brand owners crave more games like Saturday's and hope he can bring them with more consistency. Because he can rebound and block shots and still scores at a pace better than most of the league, he remains someone to start in all formats. Still, you want him to continue scoring in the 20s.
News:Elton Brand had 10 rebounds for Philadelphia in Wednesday's loss to the Cavs but also was limited to just six points in 35 minutes. He shot poorly at 3-of-11 from the field and notched two blocks.
Analysis: Brand returned after missing two games with a hamstring issue. He looked hindered on Wednesday but played through it. He was just beginning to look like the Brand of old before the injury and hopefully he can get back to that. With 16 points and 10 boards per game this season, Brand is still worth starting in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia was missing scoring leader Elton Brand on Saturday against the New Jersey Nets. Brand strained his hamstring Wednesday night in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He's expected to make his return on Wednesday against the Cavs.
Analysis: Philadelphia plays just three times in next week's scoring period and the fact that he couldn't play on Saturday makes him a monster injury risk for Fantasy. We would definitely suggest using another option who is a lock to play a full week. Normally, Brand is a must-start at all times, when healthy.
News: Philadelphia was missing scoring leader Elton Brand on Friday against Detroit. Brand strained his hamstring Wednesday night in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Analysis: The Sixers finish a back-to-back set on Saturday at home against New Jersey. It is possible he could miss this game as well and he would be an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period if he does. The Sixers play three games in the upcoming week.
News: Philadelphia forward Elton Brand will miss Friday's game at Detroit with a strained right hamstring. Brand had an MRI on Thursday and did not travel with the Sixers. He is listed as day-to-day.
Analysis: Brand didn't play the final 17 minutes of the 76ers' 114-102 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday when he first complained of the injury. He was limited to three points on 1-for-7 shooting in 25 ineffective minutes. he Sixers have a back-to-back set on Friday and Saturday in Detroit and at home against New Jersey. It is possible he could miss both games and would be an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Elton Brand suffered a strained right hamstring in Wednesday's game against the Lakers. Brand quietly disappeared to the end of the bench with a towel around his neck. Although the team said he was hurt in the fourth quarter, he sat from the 4-minute, 49-second mark of the third quarter until the end of the game.
Analysis: Brand will be evaluated Thursday, the team said. He finished the game with three points on 1-for-7 shooting. The Sixers have a back-to-back set on Friday and Saturday in Detroit and at home against New Jersey. It is possible that Brand may not be available for one or both of those games. Consider him day-to-day at the moment.
News: It was unclear whether Elton Brand was injured or simply benched on an off night in Wednesday's loss against the Lakers. He was limited to three points on 1-for-7 shooting in 25 ineffective minutes and pulled down five rebounds.
Analysis: Hopefully it is not an injury because Brand had been playing well lately. Brand is averaging a double-double per game, so he'll get plenty more. He has recovered nicely after missing all but eight games last season due to injury and deserves to start as a No. 1 Fantasy forward, when healthy.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand had 22 points and 14 rebounds Tuesday at Chicago, giving him back-to-back double-doubles for the second time this season. He entered the game averaging 17.2 points and 10.1 rebounds for the season.
Analysis: Brand is averaging a double-double per game, so he'll get plenty more. He has recovered nicely after missing all but eight games last season due to injury and deserves to start as a No. 1 Fantasy forward.
News: Sixers PF Elton Brand couldn't close out his second consecutive double-double because he fouled out Monday at Charlotte. He finished with 18 points and nine rebounds in 34 minutes of play.
Analysis: Brand is averaging a double-double per game, so he'll get plenty more. He has recovered nicely after missing all but eight games last season due to injury and deserves to start as a No. 1 Fantasy forward.
News: Power forward Elton Brand had 19 points and 13 rebounds for Philadelphia on Wednesday night in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Brand was 9-of-21 from the floor.
Analysis: Brand is averaging 18.3 points and 10 rebounds over his last four games for the 76ers and Philly has won three of those games. He's playing far better now than he did to start the season and continues to be a No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand notched 25 points and eight rebounds against the Raptors on Wednesday to lead the 76ers to victory. Brand added three blocked shots.
Analysis: Brand hadn't scored more than 13 points in his last three games so it was a pleasant sight on Wednesday to see him lead the team in scoring. He's averaging about 15 points per game this season and we expect that average to continue to rise. Brand continues to be a No. 1 Fantasy PF for the Sixers.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand played 34 minutes against the Jazz on Tuesday night and scored 13 points and added just five rebounds as Utah beat the 76ers. Brand did block six shots.
Analysis: The blocks were a breakout but Brand is not playing like the guy we remember. He failed to get a double double for the second game in a row -- last game he scored six points with 12 boards. He's scoring about 14 points per game and grabbing about 11 boards. That's not bad, but that's also not a No. 1 Fantasy PF. He's still worth starting at all times and we expect him to pick up the pace shortly.
News: Philadelphia new addition Elton Brand scored 12 points in Wednesday's loss to Miami. He added 12 boards, two steals and a block in the game in 35 minutes.
Analysis: Brand has four double-doubles in his first five games with the Sixers, despite scoring over 20 points in just one of those games. His scoring might be down slightly from his lifetime average of 20.3 ppg, but he's still worth starting at all times in Fantasy. His scoring figures to pick up as well.
News: Philadelphia PF Elton Brand had 14 points and 13 rebounds in his Sixers debut on Wednesday in a loss to Toronto. Brand played 39 minutes and was 5-for-14 from the field.
Analysis: Brand entered the 2008-09 season with career averages of 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds. He obviously did not score near his average but he will need a few games to really get back into the rhythm after playing just eight games last season before rupturing his Achilles'. He remains someone to start at all times in Fantasy as a No. 1 PF.
News: The Sixers will play three games in Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2). They'll host Toronto on Oct. 29, the Knicks on Oct. 31 and will travel to Atlanta on Nov. 1. The Raptors allowed 97.3 ppg last season, the Knicks (103.5) and the Hawks (100.0).
Analysis: The usual suspects, Andre Iguodala, Andre Miller and Elton Brand are must-starts through thick and thin. Lou Williams is a decent low-end starting option this week in deeper Head-to-Head leagues where low-end double digit scoring and little else may be appealing. The same goes for Willie Green, who will have to adjust to life off the bench after starting the last two seasons. Green could find himself back in the starting lineup if Young is unable to play at any point. Keep low-end options like Reggie Evans, Marreese Speights, Theo Ratliff, Kareem Rush and Jason Smith reserved this week.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Elton Brand has been working out regularly at the Sixers' practice facility. He's been concentrating on his conditioning and improving his strength after missing the first 74 games for the Clippers last season with a torn Achilles' tendon.
Analysis: Brand's arrival is a huge move for the Sixers, who have worked quickly to become contenders in the Eastern Conference. He is the type of low post player Philadelphia desperately needed, averaging 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in nine seasons. He played in only eight games last season because of an Achilles' tendon injury, but is fully healthy now. Brand joins a Sixers team that is no longer the lottery-bound loser it was a year ago. Andre Miller, Andre Iguodala, Samuel Dalembert and the blossoming Thaddeus Young turned the 76ers into a surprise playoff team, even stretching Detroit to six games in a first-round series. The Sixers got only 5.2 points out of last year's power forward, Reggie Evans.
News:Elton Brand signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Last week, Brand opted out of his contract with the Clippers, but Los Angeles was expected to make a strong push to re-sign him. Instead, he spurned the Clippers and agreed to a five-year deal with Philadelphia worth a reported $82 million.

News: The 76ers have agreed to trade forward Rodney Carney and a future No. 1 pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves, two people in the NBA told the Associated Press on Tuesday, in a deal that clears salary cap space for Philadelphia to make a stronger play for free agent Elton Brand. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade had not yet been completed and the NBA trade moratorium is not lifted until Wednesday.
Analysis: The deal clears the way for the Sixers to potentially offer a nearly $14 million starting salary and a long-term deal to a free agent such as Brand -- and he may be on the way. The Los Angeles Times reported, citing an unidentified NBA source, on its website that Brand reached a verbal agreement to sign a multiyear contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Brand's arrival would be a huge move for the Sixers, who have worked quickly to become contenders in the Eastern Conference. He is the type of low post player Philadelphia desperately needed, averaging 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in nine seasons. He played in only eight games last season because of an Achilles' tendon injury, but is fully healthy now.
News: The Los Angeles Clippers want to keep Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, each of whom has opted out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent. As soon as the pair made their intentions known, team president Andy Roeser said the Clippers will be aggressive in trying to convince them to stay.
Analysis: Brand, the longtime star who appeared in just eight games last season because of a knee injury, has said he intends to remain with the Clippers. He had $16.4 million left on the contract he signed in 2003. Brand spent most of last season recuperating from a ruptured Achilles tendon he hurt last August. He has averaged a double-double, 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds, during his nine years in the NBA. Brand had a lost season from a Fantasy standpoint and will be looking for payback in 2008-09. That's probably a good thing for Fantasy owners. He's a 20-and-10 guy when healthy and should be at 100 percent by the time the regular season rolls around.
News: Clippers F Elton Brand appeared in just eight games during the 2007-08 regular season due to an Achilles' tendon injury sustained in the preseason. He averaged 17.6 points and 8.0 rebounds in those games, playing 34.3 minutes per contest.

He's a 20-and-10 guy when healthy and should be at 100 percent by the time the regular season rolls around. He does have an option to bail out of his contract this season, but will likely return to the Clippers to boost his stock in what will be a contract year for him. Fantasy owners should look to cash in on that as well.
News: Clippers forward Elton Brand played his seventh game Tuesday at New Orleans in his comeback from a ruptured Achilles' tendon and had his worst game to date. He finished with only nine points and four rebounds in 35 minutes.
Analysis: Brand should be expected to be rusty after such a long layoff. He had played well otherwise and should return next season as a dominant Fantasy option once again.
News: It's too bad the season cannot be extended for Clippers forward Elton Brand. The Clippers' two-time All-Star forward enjoyed his best game since returning from his 74-game absence. Brand hit the Warriors for 21 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots Sunday while starting at center.
Analysis: Brand won't get enough games to start at center, but he has played well and is back to being considered an elite Fantasy option again heading into the offseason. Look for Brand to play well in 2008-09.
News: Clippers forward Elton Brand had 23 points, seven rebounds and one assist Thursday against the Lakers. This was Brand's best scoring output in his five games since coming back from a ruptured Achilles' tendon.
Analysis: Brand continues to improve in his comeback. Hopefully he will only keep getting better and you should keep him active in all scoring formats at this time.
News: Clippers forward Elton Brand went for 17 points, five rebounds and two assists Tuesday against Denver.
Analysis: Brand is getting close to 100 percent, and that's a good sign for Fantasy owners who held onto him. For now, keep him active in all scoring formats and hope for increased production.
News: A feeling of revival buzzed around Staples Center when Clippers forward Elton Brand was introduced for his first start and first home game this season, reports the L.A. Daily News. Two videos welcomed Brand back, and the former All-Star responded with 19 points and eight rebounds in a surprisingly high 36 minutes. Brand typically is the Clippers' double-double machine, and he says those are only a few minutes away. "About 35 minutes - that's perfect," Brand said. "I could get 20 points and 10 rebounds if I get the minutes, and a few more minutes, I would have gotten the double-double."
Analysis: It appears Brand is all the way back. Get him back in your starting lineup and keep him there the rest of the season.
News: Clippers F Elton Brand had 15 points and nine rebounds Thursday at Sacramento in his second game since returning from the Achilles' injury that sidelined him all season.
Analysis: Brand has now scored 19 and 15 points in his first two games and has played at least 26 minutes in both contests. He could be in line for a solid final scoring period and appears to be a safe start for anyone who was waiting to see how he'd do after such a long absence despite his coming off the bench so far.
News:Elton Brand made his long-awaited season debut and scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Seattle SuperSonics 102-84 on Wednesday night. Brand had missed the entire season while recovering from a surgically repaired left Achilles' tendon, after being injured during an offseason workout on Aug. 3. Brand finished with 19 points and five rebounds, hitting seven of 15 shots and making all five of his free throws. The former All-Star didn't just making an appearance either, coming up with key baskets throughout the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Brand might have had a long layoff from basketball, but he looked sharp in his debut Wednesday. Definitely promising news for those Fantasy owners still alive in the playoffs. Brand had averaged 20 points per game for four straight seasons before sitting out most of 2007-08. Feel free to start him in Fantasy leagues where needed down the stretch.
News: The news continued to improve Monday for All-Star forward Elton Brand, who could make his long-awaited season debut on Thursday night at Sacramento. If he doesn't, he definitely will play Sunday in a home game against Houston, according to a Clippers spokesman. Brand underwent surgery to repair a torn Achilles' tendon on Aug. 7, four days after he was injured during a daily workout.
Analysis: Fantasy owners have been waiting for Brand's return all season, and from the sound of it, we're on the verge of finally seeing it. Too bad it's coming so late in the season, as most Fantasy leagues are already deep in the playoffs. Brand is still a risky start for the upcoming scoring period because the Clippers likely won't push him right away. Brand had averaged 20 points per game for four straight seasons before sitting out most of 2007-08.
News: Clippers PF Elton Brand, trying desperately to savage something out of this dreadful season for himself and the Clippers, said he hopes to play sometime during the team's two-game trip through Seattle and Sacramento, which starts Wednesday. Brand, who tore his left Achilles' tendon Aug. 3 during a daily workout, and underwent surgery four days later, has been cleared to play by the medical staff -- but he's only had one full-court practice with the team because of a lack of healthy players. "We'll have a better feel for it Monday," Brand said of when he'll play his first game.
Analysis: Fantasy owners have been waiting for Brand's return all season, and we might be on the verge of finally witnessing it. Too bad it's come so late in the season as most Fantasy leagues are in the playoffs. Brand is still a risky start for the upcoming scoring period because the Clippers likely won't push him right away. News: One day after going through his first full-court scrimmage Monday, Clippers PF Elton Brand, out all season with a surgically repaired Achilles' tendon, says he woke up Tuesday without any soreness. "It was great to get some cardio and run and actually have some real bump," Brand said. "I was below standard, but I wasn't as bad as I thought."
Analysis: The Clippers have 12 games left. Coach Mike Dunleavy said Brand might be able to play as many as eight, which would mean April 2 at Seattle. If all goes according to plan, Brand will make his return this season, which is great news for the Fantasy owners that held on to him all season. Continue to monitor the situation and hope Brand doesn't suffer a setback.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Clippers forward Elton Brand took part in a full-fledged scrimmage Monday for the first time since rupturing his Achilles' tendon last summer. Coach Mike Dunleavy gave a target date for Brand's return for the first time, pinning down the last five or six games of the season. If Brand returns during that stretch, the Clippers will be beginning their final homestand with games against Houston, Denver and the Lakers before going on the road to finish the season. "If we can get him then, it'll be great. If we can't, we'll see what we can get," Dunleavy said. "More conditioning needs to be done for sure, but it's a good first step."
Analysis: It appears Brand will make his return this season, which is great news for Fantasy owners who have held out hope this would happen. Continue to monitor the situation and hope Brand doesn't suffer a setback.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Clippers forward Elton Brand expressed some doubt Tuesday about playing this season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles' tendon. "It's tough because the end of the season's not really conducive to full-court practice," Brand said. "You want to go over the other team's plays and things like that, but we really don't have five-on-five settings as much as I would like to, so we'll see." Including Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors, the Clippers have only 16 games remaining. Mixed among them are only 13 off days where the team would practice. Brand, who can become a free agent this summer, is still performing half-court activities and one-on-one drills.
Analysis: After Brand gave his quick estimation of a return two weeks ago, coach Mike Dunleavy was quick the next day to say Brand would need additional time. "I thought the things he was saying were very optimistic when I kind of realized what our situation was," Dunleavy said. "That's why I said all along that it would take longer. I still think it's possible that he can play this season There will be days coming up when we'll get some opportunities in and we'll see how he's progressing and go from there." Keep an eye on what happens with Brand, but this does not sound good. For now, keep him reserved in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Clippers PF Elton Brand's return from a ruptured Achilles' tendon this season is still in doubt. "We literally play every other day for the rest of the year," coach Mike Dunleavy said. "It's hard to get the kind of practice time that he needs."
Analysis: Keep an eye on what develops with Brand over the next few days following the team's current road trip, which was the target date of Brand's return. If healthy, Brand can serve as a No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: It highly is possible that Clippers forward Elton Brand will not play in any games this season, according to the Sports Xchange. Brand is practicing with the team, seven months after having his ruptured left Achilles' tendon repaired.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what develops with Brand over the next few days following the team's current road trip, which was the target date of Brand's return. Hopefully he can get back on the court, but it is unknown what will develop. If healthy, Brand can be considered a No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: The Los Angeles Daily News reports Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy says that injured F Elton Brand (Achilles') will be out another month. This comes a day after Brand told reporters he'd return to games in about two weeks. "He was so excited to be on the court, and we were so excited to have him there," Dunleavy said. "You can't lose reality, though. It would make no sense to throw him out there when he's not in absolutely great shape because then he might injure something else. It just doesn't make sense."
Analysis: Sounds like Dunleavy is raining on Brand's parade, and on that of his Fantasy owners. Dunleavy said he expects Brand to play this season. But he compared Brand's timetable to a healthy player in training camp, and even that healthy player has a month to prepare.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Clippers forward Elton Brand practiced with his teammates Tuesday for the first time since rupturing his Achilles' tendon in August. Coach Mike Dunleavy termed Brand as rusty, a description the forward also used in his return to the court. After practicing halfcourt five-on-five drills with contact, Brand jokingly said he needed to buy WD-40. In the session, he set screens, flared to the baseline for jumpers and hauled in rebounds. Brand said he hopes to go through a full practice within the next week before possibly making his season debut near the end of a five-game trip that starts Monday. "Hopefully around that long road trip or shortly thereafter," he said. Dunleavy stressed that Brand is in his beginning stages.
Analysis: Fantasy owners can expect 17 games on a best-case scenario from him so it appears this will be a lost season for him from a Fantasy standpoint. Still, continue to monitor his progress because if he's close to 100 percent he would be a viable Fantasy option.
News: Clippers F Elton Brand has started light contact drills and bumping bodies in the post. He began traveling with the team and is targeting to resume full practices within a couple of weeks, according to the Los Angeles Times. "It's not too sore. I'm starting to get balance and be able to do things you actually need to compete on the court, five on five," said Brand.
Analysis: The Clippers have 25 games remaining entering the week and Brand is going to miss at least eight more. Fantasy owners can expect 17 games on a best-case scenario from him so it appears this will be a lost season for him from a Fantasy standpoint.
News: At the moment, Elton Brand is still going through his paces in non-contact drills, but still hasn't been cleared to go through a full practice and all the banging that goes with it. "The next hurdle to overcome with me is just getting back the confidence with my left leg, jumping off the leg and getting my balance," Brand said. "I mean, you can do so much cardio and drill work, but getting in the court is entirely different."
Analysis: Brand said he expects to be cleared for full practice in a week or two, and hopes to be playing soon after that, even if it's limited minutes. With the Clippers 14 games under .500 and 13 games out of a playoff spot, why not shut it down the rest of the season, start fresh in training camp and not risk another injury with the team headed toward another draft lottery? "No matter how much time is left in the season, if I'm healthy, I'm going to play because this is my job," Brand said.
News: According to the Orange County Register, Clippers forward Elton Brand took a major step Monday toward returning to play for the Clippers this season, when he participated in team practice for the first time since he ruptured his left Achilles tendon last August. Although Brand did not take part in every phase of the two-hour workout and is not cleared for any contact drills, he was involved in several drills that involved running the court full speed. There is no specific target date for Brand to play in a game but he plans to travel with the team on road trips now, instead of remaining behind to do his rehabilitation, as he has done up to this point. Brand has been targeting March for his return and a possible scenario could be Brand playing for the first time during the team's nine-day, five-game east coast road trip next month.
Analysis: This is good news for owners who took a chance on Brand and held onto him. He's getting close to a return, which means a potential No. 1 Fantasy option could be on your roster heading into the playoffs.
News:Elton Brand was cleared to begin heavy running and jumping last week and the Los Angeles Times reports that he could not wait to get back to the gym. Brand believes it went well. "It felt good," Brand said. "Slow as heck, but I'll get that up. You never know how much you miss something until it's gone. It's an old cliche, but it's true."
Analysis: At this stage, Brand is still aiming for a return in early March, meaning Fantasy owners could get about four weeks at best from him in Fantasy. Those four weeks could cause a ripple effect up and down the Clippers roster in terms of Fantasy production. Is Chris Kaman headed for a dip in production during the Fantasy playoffs? What about Corey Maggette? These may be reasons to think about dealing your Clippers.
News: Clippers star Elton Brand is getting closer to playing again. Brand, who tore his left Achilles' tendon last summer, was re-examined Thursday by Dr. Craig Morgan at Christiana Care's Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, Del., and cleared to begin extensive running and jumping exercises on the court. The next step in the 28-year-old forward's rehabilitation process will lead to his returning to team drills and eventual return to full practice.
Analysis: Brand was scheduled to be examined by team physician Dr. Tony Daly upon his return to Los Angeles. Brand, who averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, was injured Aug. 3 during his daily workout in nearby El Segundo, and Morgan performed surgery four days later. The Clippers still haven't announced a timetable for Brand's return, but it is possible he might return before March. Continue to track his progress, and if you have an roster spot to stash him away, consider doing so. Brand can be a No. 1 Fantasy forward when healthy.
News:Elton Brand, sidelined because of a ruptured Achilles' tendon, is scheduled to be examined the last week of January, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Analysis: If cleared, Brand, who has trimmed 13 pounds while increasing his cardiovascular workouts, will be allowed to run at full speed and try to jump off both feet for the first time since suffering the injury in August. Continue to stash him in leagues with reserve slots, but it's not looking good for him to help Fantasy owners much this season. He's a must-own in keeper formats, though.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Clippers F Elton Brand (Achilles') realizes that his goal to return in February may be too optimistic. "The February timetable, that was the minimum. Six months," Brand said Sunday, fresh off his latest checkup. "But basketball-wise and getting timing and stuff back, [trainer] Jasen Powell is like 'E, stop saying February, OK?' Because that's pushing it, but that would be great if you can.' I'm not sure of an exact date. But I'm going to try and get back as soon as I'm healthy and ready."
Analysis: Brand, who has averaged 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in his career, was cleared at his checkup to increase his cardiovascular activities and to do some light shooting. Continue to stash him in leagues with reserve slots, but it's not looking good for him to help Fantasy owners much this season. He's a must-own in keeper formats, though.
News: Los Angeles Clippers forward was cleared to begin dribbling and taking stationary shots, according to the Los Angeles Times. Brand, the Clippers' franchise player who is recovering from the injury sustained in the off-season, is set to start the activities on Monday.
Analysis: Brand has said he is optimistically targeting February as a return month. He is also set to start running more aggressively and will use a treadmill specifically designed to lower body weight at the Clippers' practice facility. Continue to stash him in leagues with reserve slots.
News:Elton Brand, recovering from a ruptured Achilles' tendon sustained during the off-season, is scheduled for a follow-up appointment with his surgeon next Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times. If the surgically repaired tendon checks out strength-wise, Morgan will attempt to establish a timetable for Brand to start performing light basketball-related drills.
Analysis: Brand, the Clippers' franchise forward who averaged 20.5 points last season, said he is optimistically hoping for a February return. "I'm not trying to target an exact date," he said. "But it's a six-to-eight-month injury and that would be six months. That would be the closest timetable." He's worth stashing away, but only if you have ample reserve slots.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Elton Brand on Tuesday had the walking boot on his left foot removed during an examination of his surgically repaired Achilles' tendon.
Analysis: No timetable is set for his return. He is now cleared to perform advanced cardiovascular work, such as running treadmills and pool therapy, and will continue working on his upper-body conditioning. He is scheduled for a follow up in six weeks when they will decide when Brand can start performing basketball-related activities.
News: Clippers forward Elton Brand was cleared Tuesday to take part in advanced cardiovascular work and told he no longer needs to wear the walking boot he has worn since Sept. 18 because of a surgically repaired left Achilles' tendon. Brand, who averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, was injured Aug. 3 during his daily workout in nearby El Segundo
Analysis: While no timetable has been set for his return to the court, Brand is expected to miss at least the first several months of the season. He's a Fantasy stud when healthy, but he may not return at all this season, especially if the Clippers fall out of contention. Still, someone in your league will probably won't to stash him on his bench, and we wouldn't call that a bad move at this point.
News: Clippers forward Elton Brand had the cast removed from his left leg and was fitted for a removable walking boot Tuesday, six weeks after he had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles' tendon. Brand averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season. While no timetable has been set for his return to the court, he is expected to miss at least the first several months of the season.
Analysis: The Clippers said Brand will begin a rehabilitation program under the supervision of their training and medical staff. The program includes local therapy, cardiovascular work and a flexibility and strengthening program.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Clippers forward Elton Brand plans to play this season despite tearing his Achilles' tendon. "I'll be back this season -- for sure," Brand said. "I've got a cast on now for the next three weeks, then I'll be in a walking boot for four to eight weeks before I begin rehabbing. I'm not putting a deadline on it -- but I'll be back this season."
Analysis: What this means for Fantasy owners is take a chance on Brand midway through the later rounds of your draft and hope he can return at some point prior to the playoffs. If Brand's timetable is right, he could return by February, but that remains questionable at this point.

The operation was performed by orthopedic surgeon Craig Morgan in Wilmington, Del. Brand, 28, injured the tendon during his daily workout last Friday. He averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season. While there has been no timetable set for his return to the court, he is expected to miss at least the first several months of the season. Brand, 28, injured the tendon during his daily workout last Friday. He averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season.

News: Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles' tendon on Friday during his daily workout. He averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, when the Clippers failed to make the playoffs.
Analysis: Brand might miss the entire 2007-08 season, but the Clippers will surely update his status post-surgery. This injury obviously bumps Brand down Fantasy draft boards as he is doubtful for the start of 2007-08 season. It is probably best to take a middle-to-late round flier on Brand and stash him away on injured reserve, if your league allows it.

But Dunleavy says, "When it comes down to playing time, I don't give it out, the players earn it."

News: Elton Brand had 22 points-rebounds double-doubles in his first 32 games. But in the 26 games that he subsequently has played in, Brand only has had 11 double-doubles.
