However, his production has been inconsistent for much of the season, which made it tough for Fantasy owners to leave him active for long stretches of time. Consider the 24-year-old merely a low-end option when healthy.

Analysis: There was no mention of Bayless' injury prior to Sunday and Fantasy owners who are playing in leagues that run through the end of Week 24 (April 8-14) will now have to consider the 24-year-old an injury risk heading into the upcoming scoring period. While Bayless has been pretty inconsistent for most of the season, he is averaging 15.1 points and 3.9 assists over his last 10 games on 42.5 percent shooting from the field. Bayless can be considered a viable low-end option in deeper formats when healthy.

Bayless played a team-high 38 minutes in the game, scoring 30 points on 11 of 20 shooting -- a season high. He added four rebounds, three assists and four 3-pointers made, in a 110-106 win.
Analysis: After being largely a non factor for most of the first four months of the season, Bayless is turning it on at the right time for Fantasy owners. He is averaging 13.3 points per game in the month of March, while playing 25.2 minutes per game. At this point, Bayless has emerged as a viable Fantasy option in deeper formats down the stretch.

He should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option in all formats down the final stretch of the season.

Analysis: Bayless has reached double figures in scoring five times in nine games in the month of March, and is now averaging 10.5 points per game in the month of March. Bayless provides the Grizzlies with some punch off the bench, but he remains confined to 20-25 minutes per game in his current role. Fantasy owners should continue to consider him more of a low-end Fantasy option in all formats.

Analysis: Bayless had really picked up his production in the weeks leading up to the All-Star game and he was able to pick right back up where he left off Tuesday. The 24-year-old has been asked to pick up some of the scoring load with Rudy Gay now out of town and he has responded by putting up 14.6 points on 51 percent shooting from the field over his last 10 contests. Fantasy owners looking some help at the guard position may want to think about scooping up Bayless if he is available off the waiver wire.

He finished with 14 points and dished out three assists in the 99-93 win. He went 4 for 12 from the floor, including 3 for 9 from downtown, and made 3 of 4 free throws. Bayless also posted two rebounds and a block while playing 27 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: After a career campaign a year ago, Bayless got off to an inconsistent start this season but has really picked up the pace of late. He is averaging 18.4 points with 3.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds in the previous five contests. Bayless is also shooting nearly 43 percent from beyond the arc and 51 percent overall during that stretch. The 24-year-old will be counted on to pick up the scoring slack with Rudy Gay no longer in Memphis so keep an eye on his progress going forward. Bayless is worth adding in deeper Fantasy formats with Week 16 (Feb. 11-17) right around the corner.
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless turned in another stellar performance off the bench during Tuesday's contest against the Suns. Bayless went 11 of 14 shooting from the field, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4 of 4 from the charity stripe. He finished with 29 points, two rebounds and two assists in a 96-90 defeat. He also chipped in with a steal while logging 29 minutes of game action.

That said, the 24-year-old has not contributed much elsewhere lately, averaging just 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists over his last two games. Bayless is coming through in a big way off the bench since the Rudy Gay trade and has scored in double figures in each of the last seven games. At this point, he may be worth adding in deeper Fantasy formats while he's red-hot.
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless earned his third start of the season as he turned in another productive performance Thursday night against the Thunder. Bayless went 9 of 17 shooting from the field, including 2 of 5 from downtown, and 3 of 4 from the free throw line. He finished with 26 points, six assists and three rebounds in a 106-89 defeat. He also chipped in with a steal while logging 40 minutes of game action.
Analysis: The Grizzlies were short-handed after dealing Rudy Gay to Toronto the night before, so head coach Lionel Hollins decided to roll with Bayless again -- even with Mike Conley -- in the starting lineup. With Tayshaun Prince expected to join the team before the end of Week 14 (Jan. 28-Feb. 3), Bayless may head back to the bench. Still, the 24-year-old is averaging 15.8 points and 5.8 assists over his last five contests and should be worth adding in deeper formats moving forward.
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless received the start Monday against the 76ers with Mike Conley (ankle) sidelined and increased his scoring for the sixth straight contest. He scored a season-high 21 points and dished out nine assists in the 103-100 win. Bayless also posted five rebounds and a block while playing 41 minutes. He went 8 for 15 from the floor, including 1 for 2 from downtown, and made all four of his free throws in the victory.
Analysis: Bayless was able to come through with a productive performance on Monday night and should remain in the starting lineup as long as Conley is out. No word yet on how long that will be so owners will want to track his status going forward. Bayless is averaging 12 points with 5.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds in the previous five contests on 55 percent shooting. The 24-year-old would be worth adding in deeper Fantasy formats if Conley misses an extended period of time.
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless turned in a solid performance off the bench during Sunday's contest against the Hornets. Bayless picked up the slack after Mike Conley went down with an ankle injury and finished with 14 points, five assists and two rebounds in a 91-83 defeat. He went 6 of 12 shooting from the field, including 0 of 3 from the perimeter, and 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. He also chipped in with three steals while logging 37 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Bayless, who is only averaging 20.0 minutes per game in January, saw some extended minutes Sunday afternoon in place of Conley, who was seen wearing a walking boot after the game. If Conley misses some games with the injury, then the 24-year-old may start to see some more playing time, even if he comes off the bench. Bayless has scored in double figures in each of his last three games and is averaging 11.7 points and 4.7 boards per game over that span. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 14 (Jan. 28-Feb. 3).
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless finished with only two points in 14 minutes during Memphis' 85-82 overtime win at Chicago on Saturday night. Bayless attempted only three shots and connected on just one to finish with fewer than five points for the fourth consecutive game. In fact, Bayless has not reached double figures in points since Nov. 30 against Detroit (10). He also failed to contribute in any other category Saturday.
Analysis: After receiving additional minutes earlier this month, Bayless' recent tepid shooting has started to negatively affect his playing time. He has surpassed 20 minutes in just one of his past four games and has gone a combined 4 for 15 in that span. Bayless seems to be rattled in other areas as his assist total has taken a hit and he's averaging less than 3.0 dimes per game this month. He is not a recommended Fantasy option at this point.
News: Memphis guard Jerryd Bayless has pulled down 12 rebounds in his last two games in back-to-back performances. Bayless played 20 minutes Monday at Sacramento and scored seven points with five rebounds and two assists. He saw 25 minutes in Sunday's win at Phoenix and scored nine points with seven rebounds and six assists. He's hit a 3-pointer in each contest and is shooting 4 for 8 from the field overall.
Analysis: Bayless may slowly be earning more minutes once again for the Grizzlies. Averaging 16.8 per game on the season, Bayless has done little that would suggest relevant Fantasy value. He hasn't rebounded consistently and hasn't shot well, either. The 24-year-old has shown promise during his young career, but has just low-end Fantasy value at this time.
News: As expected, Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless (ankle) was able to get back on the court Friday night against the Trail Blazers. Bayless was forced to leave Memphis' win over the Celtics Wednesday after spraining his left ankle. Bayless went scoreless in 15 minutes off the bench in the 86-84 loss. He posted two assists and a steal while missing his lone attempt from the field.
Analysis: Bayless has been somewhat of a disappointment this season as most were expecting his numbers to increase when he signed with Memphis. However, he entered Friday averaging 5.3 points, 3.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game while serving as Mike Conley's backup. He is averaging 16.4 minutes in that role and should be considered merely a low-end option in deeper formats when healthy.
News:The Commercial Appeal reports Grizzlies backup point guard Jerryd Bayless did not practice Thursday because of a left ankle sprain. He is listed as day to day after X-rays were negative. Bayless suffered the injury near the end of the first quarter Wednesday at Boston.
Analysis: Bayless is averaging 5.3 points, 3.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game this season for Memphis. He gets most of his playing time when Mike Conley needs a breather. Bayless will continue to have low-end Fantasy appeal as long as Conley is healthy.

Analysis: Bayless has not scored in double figures in his last 15 games and has only averaged 16 minutes per game. The Grizzlies will re-evaluate the 24-year-old's condition in the coming days and will likely take a cautious approach before placing him back on the court. We'll continue to monitor his status moving forward. Bayless has not been able to produce off the bench, averaging just 5.5 points and 3.3 assists per game this season while shooting 38.6 percent from the field thus far. Consider him a low-end option in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless continues to play less than 20 minutes per game of late. Bayless saw just 19 minutes on Monday during a loss at Indiana. He scored just one point in the game on 0 for 4 from the field. Bayless contributed two assists and one steal in the performance.
Analysis: Bayless was extremely underwhelming Monday and is averaging just 3.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game over his last five. He really has low-end Fantasy value while playing with the Grizzlies right now.

Bayless shot the ball well and scored eight points and dished out five assists in a 90-80 victory. He went 4 of 7 shooting from the field, missing his only attempt from beyond the arc, and failed to reach the charity stripe. He also added five rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Bayless was able to have a productive game off the bench while Mike Conley struggled a bit. That said, Bayless has only scored in double figures three times this season, all of them coming in November. He is averaging 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds through nine games this month while shooting 30.9 from the field over that span. He should be viewed as a low-end option in the deepest of Fantasy formats moving forward.

He is also shooting 41 percent over that span but continues to struggle from beyond the arc. Bayless remains more of an option in the deepest of Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Grizzlies guard Jerryd Bayless scored five points in 22 minutes Saturday against the Bobcats, and appeared to escape significant damage after a scary looking fall late in the game. Bayless went up to contest a shot in the final minute and landed hard on his side, with his right wrist bearing the brunt of the impact of the fall. He briefly left the game before returning for the final few seconds of the game. He had five points, two rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 94-87 win.
Analysis: Bayless has been surprisingly quiet this season with Memphis; after averaging 11.4 points per game with the Raptors a year ago, Bayless is putting up just 6.9 per game through the first nine contests. He is shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three-point range, he just is not getting as many opportunities to produce in his new setting. Bayless production has fallen off to the point where he is only worth owning in deeper Fantasy formats.

He went 4 for 8 from the floor, including 2 for 4 from downtown, and converted both of his free throws. Bayless also chipped in with three steals and two rebounds while playing 18 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Bayless serves as the backup to Mike Conley in Memphis and scored in double figures for the first time this season Friday. He enjoyed a career campaign in Toronto last season but his current role limits his appeal in Fantasy. While an injury could change things, leave Bayless for deeper Fantasy formats at this point.
News: After landing Jerryd Bayless in the offseason, Memphis is greatly encouraged by his prospects for the upcoming season. Bayless offers a solid reserve option for the Grizzlies behind starting point guard Mike Conley and brings a strong combination of ball-handling and scoring that should help the team cut down on its turnovers from the position. "Having Jerryd around will allow me to play harder for a shorter amount of time," Conley told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "I don't have to try to take certain plays and rest here and there. I can go as hard as I can for as many minutes as I can until I get a break. I think it'll make my game better and make this team better."
Analysis: Bayless' migration to the Grizzlies represents his fourth team since breaking into the league in 2008-09 and the opportunity to exceed the 22.7 minutes per game he averaged with Toronto last year. The 24-year-old posted a career-high 11.4 points per game last season, boosted by his marksmanship from the free-throw line. "I'm expecting big things out of him this year," forward Zach Randolph said about the 11th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. "He can ball. That kid has talent." Fantasy owners should consider Bayless a quality reserve option worth starting in deeper formats for Week 1 (Oct. 30-Nov. 4).
News: The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports Wednesday that the Grizzlies have agreed to a two-year contract with guard Jerryd Bayless. The deal is worth approximately $3 million in the first year.
Analysis: Bayless played in 31 games for the Raptors last year and averaged 11.4 points per game, a career high. He added to that 3.8 assists and 1.4 3-pointers per game. News: The Raptors renounced their rights to restricted free agent Jerryd Bayless Thursday, pulling his qualifying offer and making him an unrestricted free agent when league business resumes July 11. He may still return to the Raptors, however with the acquisition of Kyle Lowry, it seems unlikely that they have much interest in his services anymore.
Analysis: Bayless averaged 17.8 points and 5.3 assists per game in 11 starts last season, which has been a consistent theme with him; flashes of talent in small sample sizes that make you wonder what could happen if he put it all together. He should have no shortage of teams interested in his services as a free agent, but his Fantasy value next season may change depending on where he lands, so we'll keep an eye on his movement this summer. He could be worthy of a late-round selection on Draft Day, with some upside.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless, who missed the final 16 games of the season with a partially torn oblique muscle, told the Toronto Sun that he hopes to remain with the team, as a restricted free agent this summer. Bayless indicated to the team that he is interested in returning, telling the Sun that he plans to remain in Toronto over the summer working on his game, which certainly makes it seem as if he expects to be a Raptor next season. He is expected to be fully healthy by the team he is eligible to become a free agent, in July.
Analysis: Bayless tantalizes with flashes of his talent, as he averaged 17.8 points and 5.3 assists per game in 11 starts this season, however he has yet to be able to stay healthy and productive while finding his niche. He told the Sun that he thinks his best position is point guard, however the Raptors are set there, with incumbent Jose Calderon manning the spot. If Bayless returns to Toronto, as would seem to be the case at this time, he would likely only be worth a late-round selection on Draft Day.

Bayless should be reserved or waived in all Fantasy leagues moving forward.
News: The National Post reports that Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless was scheduled to have a MRI on his injured hip Tuesday. Bayless re-aggravated his hip injury during Monday night's contest against the Magic.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all leagues should continue to monitor what happens with Bayless, and hopefully he's not out for an extended period of time. Bayless has minimal Fantasy value when Jose Calderon is healthy, but we'd rather have Bayless playing than on the bench with this hip problem.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless re-aggravated his hip injury during Monday night's contest against the Magic. Bayless, who has missed the past two games with his ailment, left just prior to halftime in the 117-101 defeat. He finished with six points, four assists and two rebounds prior to leaving the contest.
Analysis: Bayless' return didn't last very long as he seemed to re-aggravate his injury against the Magic on Monday night. However, with Jose Calderon now healthy, Bayless' value is limited to that of a low-end option, even when healthy.

Analysis: The Raptors have a day off before having back-to-back games this weekend. Bayless can't catch a break as he's been demoted back to the bench with Jose Calderon healthy. Fantasy owners should keep Bayless reserved until he can prove he's 100 percent. Consider him a low-end guard option when healthy.
News: The Raptors announced on Wednesday afternoon prior to the game against the Bulls that guard Jerryd Bayless would be available after suffering a hip pointer on Tuesday against the Knicks. Coach Dwayne Casey said he "is a go" for the game.

News: The Toronto Sun reports that Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless left the game Tuesday against the Knicks early in the fourth quarter favoring his left hip area. Right before the end of the third he took a hard foul from Amare Stoudemire that knocked him on his back. He believes he took a Stoudemire knee to the hip on the play but said he fully expects to be back in the lineup on Wednesday against the Bulls.
Analysis: Bayless had a rough night all around since he was moved back to the bench in favor of Jose Calderon. Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution in case Bayless is out against the Bulls, and he could be limited with Calderon now back in action.
News: With Jose Calderon back in the starting lineup for the Raptors, Jerryd Bayless returned to the bench on Tuesday. He managed just 13 minutes on Tuesday night against the Knicks, going 2 for 4 from the field. Bayless, who had been starting in place of Calderon, finished with seven points and four assists. He also chipped in two steals and three boards. Toronto would lose to New York, 106-87.
Analysis: Bayless is the backup guard for the Raptors and he can play both guard positions. Entering Tuesday, Bayless was averaging 12.1 points and 3.9 assists per game. While there is a chance he gets back into the starting lineup, it seems Bayless won't be worth using in most formats with a healthy Calderon on the court.
News: The Toronto Star reports that Raptors guard Jose Calderon is likely to be back in the lineup Tuesday at the Knicks after being out five games with a sprained right ankle. Calderon will return to his usual spot in the starting lineup, even though Jerryd Bayless has filled in admirably.
Analysis: We hope Bayless will still get enough minutes to be successful, but Fantasy owners should monitor how this develops with Calderon now back. Bayless is worth holding onto in all leagues, but don't plan on starting him when Calderon is active.

Analysis: Bayless will likely go back to the bench once Calderon returns, which could be on Saturday. But even when he returns to the bench, Bayless will have Fantasy value as the Raptors traded Leandro Barbosa on Thursday. With his main competition for minutes now in Indiana, bayless should continue to get plenty of minutes. Fantasy owners should continue to view Bayless as a low-end guard option at this time, but is worth using while he's playing well.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless played well during Tuesday night's contest against the Cavaliers. Bayless, who was making his second straight start for the injured Jose Calderon, finished with 20 points in the 96-88 win, on 6 of 13 shooting from the field. He went 4 of 7 from downtown and also added seven assists and four rebounds to his stat line, while logging 37 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Bayless has been a bit of a bust this season, but has played well over as a starter the last two games. There is still no timetable on Calderon's return, so the 23-year-old may be in line for some extended run over the next few games. Fantasy owners in daily formats should think about scooping up Bayless as long as he continues to start. However, he will likely go back to minimal contributor once Calderon returns.

He also had two rebounds and just one turnover, however the Raptors lost 105-99.
Analysis: Bayless has largely been a disappointment this season, however a return to the starting lineup would certainly help his Fantasy value anyways. Bayless averaged half a turnover per minute.

News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless was able to get back on the court during Friday night's contest against the Bobcats. Bayless, who had missed the previous four games with an ankle injury, finished with just two points in the 98-91 loss, while logging five minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Bayless was able to get back on the court Friday night, but he only logged five minutes in the contest. Still, that had more to do with matchups rather than his health, which is good news for Fantasy owners. While Bayless' scoring production has increased this season to a career-high 11.3 points per game, owners may want to leave him on the bench heading into Fantasy Week 9 (Feb. 20-26). The Raptors are only slated to play once during the upcoming scoring period, making the 23-year-old a risky play.

The 23-year-old has been unable to fully grasp the Raptors' point guard role and has recorded more than five assists in a game only twice in 14 games this season. Fantasy owners should keep Bayless reserved only in deeper formats if he is unable to return for Friday's game.
News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless missed his fourth straight game on Wednesday against the Spurs. Bayless is dealing with a nagging left ankle injury. He is still considered day to day.
Analysis: Bayless has been sidelined with this ankle issue plenty this year. The Raptors have Jose Calderon starting for them, so Bayless' role with the team is unclear even when healthy. He could be trade bait or just a reserve for Toronto. Until he's 100 percent and has a set role with the team, Bayless is just a low-end guard option in deeper Fantasy formats.

News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest against New York, according to the Toronto Sun. Bayless has missed the past two games while dealing with an ankle injury he suffered last Wednesday against Milwaukee.
Analysis: It's unclear what role Bayless will serve upon his return as Jose Calderon has shined at the point in his absence. Bayless, 23, missed 13 games earlier this season because of an ankle injury so the Raptors won't force him back to the court. Bayless netted 30 points during his last game against lowly Washington prior to the injury, and should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats when healthy.
News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless (ankle) sat out on Sunday against the L.A. Lakers, reports the National Post. Bayless missed another game and has now sat out two straight for the Raptors dealing with that ankle injury.

News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless left Wednesday's game against the Bucks after suffering yet another ankle injury. Bayless was injured in the third quarter and went to the locker room. It was later announced he would not return as he has a sore left ankle. Bayless displayed terrible shot selection before getting hurt as he scored six points on 3 of 10 from the field. He went 0 for 5 from 3-point range. Bayless dished out seven assists and added a block before leaving. He is day to day.
Analysis: The 23-year-old Bayless has been seeing plenty of run with almost 32 minutes per game over his last five entering Wednesday. He just dropped 30 points on the Wizards in Washington on Monday. His scoring has been inconsistent, but Bayless can be utilized in many deeper Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless scored a season-high 30 points during Monday night's overtime loss to the Wizards. Bayless made nine of his 23 shot attempts from the field in the 111-108 defeat, but did drop in a career-high six 3-pointers. He scored 16 of his points in the fourth quarter to help force overtime and also chipped in with three rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals, while logging 39 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Bayless has been able to provide a huge lift for the Raptors offensively since he was inserted into the starting lineup as the 23-year-old has scored in double figures in four of his five starts. However, he is a bit of a liability on defense, so it will be interesting to see how much rope he is given on that front. Still, Bayless proved more than capable of putting up big-time numbers when he was given a chance to start last season and he has played pretty well since returning from his ankle injury thus far. As long as he continues to start and can stay healthy, owners looking for some help at the guard position may want to pick up Bayless off the waiver wire.
News: The Raptors continue to mix up the starting lineup and this time guard Jerryd Bayless found himself coming off the bench again on Wednesday. Bayless scored a team-high 14 points on a 5-for-12 shooting display. He hit two 3-pointers and knocked down both his foul shots. He was one of two Toronto players in double figures in the Raptors, 100-64 loss to the Celtics. Bayless added an assist and a rebound.
Analysis: Bayless was benched after allowing 24 points to Joe Johnson in the first half in the loss to Atlanta on Tuesday, but it seems like he's still one of the team's better options offensively. It should be interesting to see how coach Dwane Casey handles Bayless moving forward. Because Toronto can't seem to get on the same page, it is hard to give Bayless a good look in Fantasy leagues. Continue to watch him or keep him reserved in deeper formats heading into Fantasy Week 7 (Feb. 6-12).
News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless earned his second straight start at shooting guard during Tuesday night's contest against the Hawks, but was benched at halftime by coach Dwane Casey. Bayless finished with 14 points and two assists in the 100-77 contest, on 4 of 11 shooting from the field. He also added one steal to his stat line, while logging 26 minutes.
Analysis: Bayless earned another start on Tuesday night, but was benched after allowing 24 points to Joe Johnson in the first half in the loss to Atlanta. While the 23-year-old does provide an offensive spark for Toronto, he is a tremendous liability on the defensive side of the ball, which continues to limit his minutes. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how Casey handles his playing time moving forward. If Bayless remains in the starting lineup, he will be one of the hottest waiver wire pickups heading into Fantasy Week 7 (Feb. 6-12).
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless only saw 16 minutes of playing time on Friday at Denver, but scored 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting with four 3-pointers and three assists in that game. That earned him more minutes on Sunday at New Jersey. In that game, Bayless shot 7 of 15 and scored 17 points over 34 minutes. He added six rebounds and three assists, but went 0 for 4 from deep.
Analysis: Bayless clearly can score when given the opportunity, but his shot has been anything but consistent and that is when his minutes dwindle again. He's hit seven shots in each of his last two games but combined for just two field goals in the two prior to that. Bayless was 2 for 12 in those games for a grand total of seven points. Bayless is averaging 9.3 PPG on the year and is shooting just 42 percent. Until he starts playing more consistently, you can expect the Raptors to limit his time on the floor. For now, his Fantasy value remains decent only in the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless has had a tough season so far, dealing with an ankle injury that cost him 13 games and then struggling with his scoring in the time since his return. However his struggles disappeared on Friday against the Nuggets, scoring 18 points off the bench. Bayless made 7 of 10 shots from the field, including 4 of 5 from three-point range to establish a new season-high in scoring. Bayless added three assists and two rebounds in a very busy 16 minute stint, but the Raptors were unable to get anything going offensively besides him and ended up losing 96-81.
Analysis: Weve been waiting for a breakout from Bayless and hopefully this is it. The Raptors have a crowded backcourt, however Bayless is young enough that the Raptors will continue to give him looks to see how much of a part of their future he can be. If he continues to see his role increase now that hes healthy, he could start creeping towards Fantasy relevance, so keep an eye on his production going forward before adding him.

Analysis: Raptors coach Dwane Casey said he believes Bayless may be able to return for Sunday's game against the Clippers, according to the Toronto Sun. However, that is not a guarantee as the 23-year-old continues to experience the lingering effects of the injury. He is a nice scoring option off the bench for Toronto, but Bayless has low-end Fantasy appeal when active.

He hasn't been an overly reliable scorer during his four-year career, but managed to post 10 points per game following a trade to Toronto last season while earning 14 starts. For now, Bayless is a low-end guard option in deeper leagues when healthy. Toronto plays four times in Week 4 (Jan. 16-22).

Analysis: Bayless posted double-digits in points during his first two games of the season before the injury has limited his production since then. He hasn't been an overly reliable scorer during his four-year career, but managed to post 10 points per game following a trade to Toronto last season while earning 14 starts. He is back on the Raptors bench for now and should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy G option when healthy.

Analysis: Bayless had scored in double figures each of the first two games of the season before getting injured last Friday. He injured the ankle during the second quarter of a game against the Mavericks on Friday. X-rays were negative, but they are being careful with the 23-year old guard.
Analysis: Bayless had scored in double figures each of the first two games of the season before getting injured on Friday so keep an eye on his progress going forward. News: For the second time in two games, Raptors G Jerryd Bayless scored in double digits for the Raptors, this time putting up 13 in a 90-85 loss to the Pacers. He shot five-of-nine from the field while making both three pointers he attempted after scoring 10 in the season-opening win against Cleveland.
Analysis: Bayless did start one of the Raptors two preseason games, but Toronto has decided to go with Jose Calderon in the starting lineup. Despite his, he did outscore Calderon against the Pacers. Bayless could be a decent Fantasy option if he was starting, but at this point he only receives about 20 minutes-per game, so its hard to recommend him for Fantasy owners. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option moving forward unless something happens to Calderon.
News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless, who came off the bench in the preseason opener, got the start in the second and final preseason game as the Raptors lost 81-73 to Boston on Wednesday. He struggled, shooting four of 16 from the field and zero for five from three, but did have 12 points and two assists in the loss.
Analysis: It would appear as if the Raptors are going to split time between Bayless and Jose Calderon at point guard, and at some points during the preseason featured them both on the court together. Obviously, Calderons presence will limit Bayless production, but he could be a solid Fantasy option at guard if he finds playing time, as he averaged 10 points and four assists after being traded to Toronto last year. Consider him a late-round option on Draft Day with sleeper potential.
News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless came off the bench in the preseason opener against the Celtics on Sunday. Bayless shot 4 of 10 from the field and went 0 for 1 from deep over 24 minutes behind starter Jose Calderon. Bayless dished out three assists and grabbed two rebounds, committing four turnovers in the process. Bayless is expected to back up Calderon at the point this season for Toronto.
Analysis: The 23-year-old Bayless made 14 starts last season but spent most of the year coming off the bench for New Orleans and Toronto. Bayless saw 60 games with the Raptors and managed to hit almost a 3-pointer per night en route to averaging a career-high 10 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. He also put up a career-best 4.0 assists and his shooting percentage was also a career high at 43 percent. Bayless could continue improving, but his ceiling has Calderon on top of it. For now, Bayless is just a low-end Fantasy guard worth taking in the later rounds of drafts.
News: The Toronto Globe and Mail reports that Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo said defense can help point guard Jerryd Bayless earn more playing time. Colangelo said Bayless clearly has more of a defensive mindset and ability to get into people and stop people in comparison to expected starter Jose Calderon.
Analysis: Bayless played well last year and could make an improvement this season. For the year in 2010-11, Bayless averaged 9.2 points, 3.7 assists and 2.3 boards per contest. He also shot career-highs from the field, 42.2 percent, and from beyond the 3-point arc, 33.6 percent. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should keep an eye on how things in Toronto plays out this offseason. If Bayless gets a chance to start this fall, he'd be well worth a late-round selection on Draft Day. Otherwise he's more of a handcuff option with an upside.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless is on his third team in three years in the NBA, but he has improved each season. Granted his minutes as a rookie were limited and he's always been the backup point guard, where ever he's landed. In Toronto he was able to get some minutes this year as the Raptors were hit hard by the injury bug. He started 14 of his 71 games for the Raptors as he filled in for Jose Calderon when he was on the shelf. Bayless missed some time with an ankle issue and food poisoning during the season. As a starter, Bayless averaged 18.1 points and 6.7 assists compared to 7.0 points and 3.0 assists when he came off the bench. Bayless saw twice as much court time as a starter as well, so he had ample opportunities to produce. For the year, Bayless averaged 9.2 points, 3.7 assists and 2.3 boards per contest. He also shot career-highs from the field, 42.2 percent, and from beyond the 3-point arc, 33.6 percent.
Analysis: Bayless was acquired by the Raptors back in November 2010 along with Peja Stojakovic in exchange for Jarrett Jack, David Andersen and Marcus Banks. Bayless ended the year seeing a ton of minutes as Toronto rested many of the team's banged up players. In eight games in April Bayless tallied 22.5 points and 5.6 assists per outing. He's shown what he can do when given the minutes and starts, but there is no guarantee he'll get that chance in Toronto. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should keep an eye on how things in Toronto plays out this offseason. If Bayless gets a chance to start this fall, he'd be well worth a late-round selection on Draft Day. Otherwise he's more of a handcuff option with an upside.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless had another productive game for the Raptors as he got the start for the injured Jose Calderon. Bayless shot 6 for 15 from the field -- connecting on his lone 3-pointer -- and converting 9 of his 12 foul shots -- finishing with 19 points. He added three boards and five assists in his 32 minutes of action before fouling out of the game. Toronto would lose the game to New York, 131-118. Calderon missed another game with a hamstring injury and is being considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Bayless entered Tuesday's contest averaging 16.7 points and 7.6 assists per contest in his previous nine starts this season. He's played well when he's filled in for Calderon, and could see some run the rest of the season. Over his last 10 games, Bayless is averaging 9.6 points and 4.4 assists per outing. He should be considered a low-end guard option, but if owners need a guard option for the final week of the season, Bayless is not a bad option.
News: The Raptors report Tuesday that point guard Jose Calderon is considered a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Knicks. Calderon missed Sunday's game against the Magic with a hamstring injury. If Calderon is out then Jerryd Bayless would start for the Raptors.
Analysis: Bayless has played well in place of Calderon, and we would consider him a quality sleeper if Calderon is out against the Knicks. If you need a guard for this scoring period then add Bayless, who is only owned in 34 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless turned in one of his better offensive performances of the season in Saturday's 113-106 loss to the Bulls. Bayless, who was making his eighth start of the season in place of the injured Jose Calderon, finished with 26 points in the contest on 9 of 14 shooting from the field. He went 2 of 4 from downtown and also chipped in with eight assists, four rebounds and a steal while logging 38 minutes. Bayless is averaging 15.9 points and 7.5 assists in his eight starts this season.
Analysis: Bayless played well during his spot start on Saturday just like he had in the previous seven he has made this season. The 22-year-old has played well during his his brief time as a starter throughout the year, but unfortunately has not been able to translate that same success when he comes off the bench. However, depending on the severity of Calderon's hamstring injury, Bayless could see some extended time as the starter if Calderon's injury sidelines him for a few games. Fantasy owners in search of help at the point guard position heading into Week 24 (April 4-13) may want to think about picking up Bayless if he continues to start.
News: According to the website thescore.com, Raptors point guard Jose Calderon will not travel with the team to Chicago to face the Bulls on Saturday. Calderon injured his hamstring Wednesday and will be out Saturday and possibly Sunday against Orlando. With Calderon out, Jerryd Bayless will likely start at point guard for the Raptors.
Analysis: Bayless is worth an extended look for Fantasy owners looking for a sleeper to close the season. He is only owned in 20 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com, but there is a chance the Raptors could shut down Calderon for the rest of the season. If you're looking for help in assists and possibly scoring then add Bayless where needed.
News: The Toronto Star reports that Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless could see more playing time with Jose Calderon (hamstring) getting hurt Wednesday night. Bayless played 21 minutes of Torontos 104-98 loss to the Bucks and responded with eight points and three assists. Were going to give Jerryd an opportunity here and were going to let him play and he had an opportunity to play more minutes tonight because of (Calderons injury) and he will have the opportunity moving forward, said head coach Jay Triano.
Analysis: If Calderon is out for an extended period of time then Bayless could see a significant boost in value. He's only owned in 16 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com so plan on adding him where available in all formats.
News: After being buried on the depth chart behind All-Star Chris Paul in New Orleans, Jerryd Bayless received new life when he was traded to Toronto in November. Since then he has scored in double figures 15 times, including going off for a career-high 31 points on Dec. 11. He did most of that while Jose Calderon and Leandro Barbosa were but it was still nice to see the 22-year-old be productive when given the opportunity. Bayless has been slowed a bit by knee and ankle injuries and entered the All-Star break averaging seven points with 2.1 assists and 1.6 rebounds in his last 10 contests.
Analysis: Bayless has been fairly productive when healthy this season, but minutes and production have been sporadic since Calderon and Barbosa returned from their injuries. He is seeing about 16 minutes per game over his last 10 games, and his scoring has suffered as he is shooting just 39 percent from the field over that span. He is making nearly 41 percent of his shots on the year and is averaging a career-high 2.3 rebounds. While Bayless has shown that he can be productive when given the minutes, Fantasy owners should only have him active in deeper formats heading into Week 18 (Feb. 21-27).
News: After struggling in his first game back from a knee injury, Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless got back on track in Friday's 102-96 loss to the Blazers. Bayless scored 18 points in the victory, all in the fourth quarter on 6 of 11 shooting from the field. He went 4 of 5 from behind the arc and also chipped in with an assist in 21 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Bayless came on strong in the fourth quarter Friday and has been a fairly productive option for Fantasy owners when he is healthy. The problem is Bayless has been a bit banged up of late and had a hard time staying in the lineup. He continues to see around 19 minutes a game and can be considered a solid low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.

That said, after missing two games with the issue he only played seven minutes in the contest. Bayless missed his only shot attempt and failed to score. He did have three assists, however.
Analysis: Bayless has been a bit banged up for the Raptors this season, with his latest injury coming in the form of a sprained knee. Going forward, Fantasy owners should expect him to play just less than what he normally plays (19.5 minutes per game), so consider him to be a low-end option for now. Bayless is a decent Fantasy option in deeper leagues when fully healthy.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless did not play in Tuesday's game against the Bucks as he continues to nurse his sprained right knee. Bayless did not make the trip to Milwaukee so he could continue to rehab his knee is Toronto. He is considered day to day.

News: According to the team's official website, Raptors G Jerryd Bayless (knee) did not travel with the team on their flight to Milwaukee. He is not likely to play on Tuesday at Milwaukee.
Analysis: We have seen players not travel and still play, but it does not seem Bayless will be available for Tuesday's game. He missed Friday's game against Minnesota and was averaging just 9.0 points and 2.8 assists over his previous four outings. He in not a viable Fantasy option at this time.
News: The Score reports that Raptors PG Jerryd Bayless (knee) tried to practice Sunday but couldn't make it through the entire session.
Analysis: Fantasy owners who were thinking about risking Bayless in deeper leagues for Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 7-13) should probably look elsewhere after this news. Bayless is averaging 8.3 points and 3.5 assists in his first year with Toronto and can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.

Analysis: Bayless has been a bit banged up for the Raptors this season, with his latest injury coming in the form of a sprained knee. Analysis: Bayless wasn't having a bad outing on Wednesday, but he remains a nice role player off the bench for the Raptors. He's averaging 8.3 points and 3.5 assists on the year, his first with Toronto. Owners should monitor Bayless' status heading into the weekend. He's been banged up this season and some think came back too soon with his ankle injury. When healthy, Bayless is worth using as a low-end guard option in deeper formats.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless was able to play through an ankle injury Monday's 104-93 loss to the Pacers. Bayless, who continues to be bothered by lingering soreness in his ankle, scored 11 points in the defeat on 4 of 7 shooting from the field. He went 3 of 3 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with four rebounds and a steal in 17 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Bayless continues to see decent minutes off the bench in Toronto and has scored in double figures four of his last seven games. Still, he continues to be bothered by soreness in his right ankle, which is something Fantasy owners should continue to monitor moving forward. Continue to view Bayless as a low-end Fantasy guard, when in the lineup.
News: Toronto G Jerryd Bayless did not have his finest shooting performance on Saturday night against Minnesota, but he was still able to put up some decent scoring off the bench. He scored 10 points and hauled in three rebounds in the 103-87 loss. He shot just 4 of 12 from the field, but went 2 for 4 from beyond the arc while playing 25 minutes. Bayless also chipped in with one assist and one steal in the defeat. He is averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds over his last five contests.
Analysis: Bayless continues to see decent minutes off the bench in Toronto and has scored in double figures four of his last seven games. While he is shooting only 36 percent from the floor over his last five contests, he has found a way to score while chipping in with four assists and one steal over that span. The 22-year-old could probably be a starter elsewhere in the league, but the Raptors have used him well while they have dealt with some injuries. Bayless will face off against Indiana, Atlanta and Minnesota in Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb, 6), so continue to view him as a viable option in deeper Fantasy leagues heading into the upcoming scoring period.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless continued to see more time on the floor on Monday night in a loss to Memphis. Starting for the injured Leandro Barbosa and Jose Calderon against the Grizzlies, Bayless saw 37 minutes and scored 15 points in the contest. He added 11 assists and eight rebounds as he finished just two boards shy of a triple-double. He went 5 for 10 from the floor and also had two steals.
Analysis: Bayless has a lot of talent and some believe he can become a star in the NBA at some point. He'd been seeing more time with Barbosa injured and Calderon came down the flu for Monday's game, leaving him the starter. He nearly led them to a victory over Memphis, which would have been pretty impressive with the lineup Toronto had going. Still, until Bayless can do this consistently, he's only going to have value in Fantasy in the deeper formats.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless saw just 22 minutes of action on Wednesday against the Spurs, going 3 for 7 from the field. He converted all four of his foul shots as he finished with 10 points. He missed the previous two games with an ankle injury, but has been dealing with this nagging injury for a while now. The Raptors would lose to the Spurs, 104-95, despite the return of Bayless. He added three assists, one board and a steal.
Analysis: Bayless is averaging 8.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 boards per contest this year. His assist and rebound totals are both career bests, but he's still not starting, despite getting traded to Toronto. For what it's worth, Bayless is no more than a low-end guard option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: According to Raptors radio announcer Paul Jones, PG Jerryd Bayless will shake off his ankle injury and play in Wednesday's game at the Spurs.
Analysis: Bayless is averaging only eight points a game for Toronto in his third NBA season, but he is putting up career-best assist and rebound totals. Unfortunately, until he starts getting more than 18 minutes a game, he will remain only worth stashing away in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: According to a report from NBA-TV in Canada, Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless practiced Tuesday. Bayless has missed the past two games with an ankle injury and is questionable for Wednesday's game at San Antonio.
Analysis: Bayless has minimal Fantasy value when healthy and is not worth using in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in most formats even when he returns.
News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless remained out of commission for the Raptors on Monday as they played against the Hornets in New Orleans. Bayless also missed Saturday's game in Washington due to his ankle injury. He is day to day.
Analysis: Bayless hasn't played more than 20 minutes lately and is averaging less than that figure on the season. He can do some things when on the court, but Bayless remains more of a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless was back on the bench on Saturday night as his sore left ankle kept him out of another game. Bayless returned to action on Friday night, struggling to find the range. He shot 1 for 5 from the floor in that game. Over his last 10 games, Bayless has missed three of them with this ankle injury. He's being considered day to day.
Analysis: Bayless is averaging just 6.3 points over his last three games. While he has an upside in Toronto, Bayless can't seem to stay healthy enough to make a significant impact since joining Toronto. While he is a good handcuff option for Jose Calderon, Bayless is a mere low-end guard option when healthy. With him still dealing with this ankle injury, it may be wise to keep him reserved for Week 13 (Jan. 17-23). Monitor his progress moving forward.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless really struggled in Friday's 101-95 loss to the Pistons. Bayless scored just three points in the contest on 1 of 5 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 3 from downtown and finished with two rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes off the bench. Bayless is averaging just 6.3 points over his last three games.
Analysis: Bayless has shown solid upside at times this season when given a chance to play a significant role, however, has seen those opportunities diminish now that Jose Calderon is healthy. Bayless is averaging just 14.3 minutes over his last three games played and continues to play with a slightly tweaked ankle. While he remains a solid hancuff option for Calderon, Bayless in not worth starting in the majority of Fantasy leagues heading into Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 17-23).
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless (ankle) will be available to play in Friday night's game against the Pistons. Bayless tweaked his ankle in practice on Thursday, but will be available off the bench.
Analysis: Bayless gave Fantasy owners a scare on Thursday, but has looked fine since. He has shown solid upside at times this season when given a chance to play a significant role, however, has only been seeing around 17 minutes a game of late now that Jose Calderon is healthy. Consider him a solid handcuff option for Calderon, but Bayless in not worth starting in the majority of Fantasy leagues at this point.
News: The official website for the Raptors reports that guard Jerryd Bayless tweaked his ankle in practice Thursday. He left practice court with his shoe off, and his status for Friday against Detroit is not yet known.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Bayless' status and hope he can play against the Pistons. When healthy, Bayless is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless was back in action on Sunday against the Kings. Bayless said Saturday that he was going to play on Sunday and lived up to his word, scoring 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench. The guard had missed two straight games with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: Bayless has shown solid upside at times this season when given a chance to play a significant role. Unfortunately, it appears he won't get many chances like that while Jose Calderon is healthy. He remains a good handcuff option, but is not a player that should be active in most formats at this time.
News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless was back in action on Sunday against the Kings, reports the team's official site. Bayless said Saturday that he was going to play on Sunday and lived up to his word. The guard had missed two straight games with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: The Raptors have Jose Calderon who is also banged up with leg issues and the team needs Bayless to help out. He has ability and put up 11 points and eight assists over 31 minutes on Jan. 4 at Chicago. Still, he hasn't been able to stay healthy and play consistently. Until that happens, his Fantasy appeal will remain low-end.
News: Toronto PG Jerryd Bayless sounded pretty confident Saturday that he's playing Sunday against the Kings despite his ankle injury, reports the Toronto Star. Im playing, Bayless said. The guard missed two straight with a sprained left ankle but should be back on the court against the Kings.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless did not play in Friday's game against the Celtics as he continues to deal with an ankle injury. Bayless, who has missed two of his last three games with the injury, re-aggravated his sore ankle earlier this week and will also likely miss Sunday's tilt against the Kings. He is targeting Jan. 12 against the Hawks for a possible return date. Its getting better, but its not there, Bayless told the Toronto Sun. I dont want it to be a lingering thing, its got to get better. I think if I continue to try to keep on going, keep on pushing it, its not going to go away.
Analysis: Bayless continues to be bothered by his sore ankle, so hopefully a couple days of rest will give it time to heal. He is averaging 8.2 points per game on the season, but has seen an increase in his rebounding and assists totals. While he continues to play behind Jose Calderon off the bench, Bayless has proved he can be an productive Fantasy option when given ample minutes. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status over the weekend to see if he will be able to play in Fantasy Week 12 (Jan.10-16).
News: The Raptors announced Friday that PG Jerryd Bayless (ankle) will not play Friday night at the Celtics. He has missed two of the last three games with this injury. Its getting better, but its not there, Bayless told the Toronto Sun. I dont want it to be a lingering thing, its got to get better. I think if I continue to try to keep on going, keep on pushing it, its not going to go away.
Analysis: This season, Bayless is scoring about the same as he did last year, averaging 8.2 points a game, but his rebound and assist totals are up. When Jose Calderon is healthy though, Bayless' minutes take a hit, so he remains really only worth stashing away in deeper leagues as a backup PG.
News: Raptors broadcaster Eric Smith reports via twitter that guard Jerryd Bayless will sit out of Wednesday's game against Cleveland because of an ankle issue.
Analysis: Bayless was listed as questionable on the team's official notes, and downgraded to doubtful hours before tip. The ankle issue must be lingering, so keep an eye on the situation. This makes him a player to avoid adding in weekly formats and even in daily-lineup leagues. He has nice statistical upside across the board when given a chance for uninhibited playing time.
News: Raptors play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin reports that Raptors G Jose Calderon has been upgraded to probable for Wednesday's game in Cleveland. Jerryd Bayless, meanwhile, has been downgraded to doubtful.
Analysis: This remains a very tricky situation. Both Bayless and Calderon were listed as questionable for Wednesday's game on the team's official notes. However, Bayless had been listed as a 'probable starter' over Calderon. Now Calderon is considered probable and Bayless is considered doubtful, according to Devlin. On Wednesday, Bayless finished with 11 points and eight assists in his 31 minutes of action. He seemed plenty healthy, but is clearly still dealing with lingering issues. This makes him a player to avoid adding in weekly formats and even in daily-lineup leagues, barring a setback with Calderon. He has nice statistical upside across the board when given a chance for uninhibited playing time.
News: The Raptors officially list Jerryd Bayless as questionable for Wednesday's game at Cleveland, but do list him among their probable starters. Bayless, despite dealing with the ankle injury, got the start on Tuesday in Chicago as Jose Calderon deals with a foot injury of his own. Calderon is also listed as questionable for Wednesday's game.
Analysis: On Wednesday, Bayless finished with 11 points and eight assists in his 31 minutes of action. He seemed plenty healthy, but the fact that he is still on the injury report and that Calderon could be back shortly makes him a player to avoid adding in weekly formats and even in daily-lineup leagues, barring a setback with Calderon. He has nice statistical upside across the board when given a chance for uninhibited playing time.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless filled in for the injured Jose Calderon on Tuesday night and produced in his opportunity. Bayless, who had been dealing with an ankle injury, got the start as Calderon deals with a foot injury. Bayless shot 40 percent from the floor -- going 1 for 3 from downtown -- and hitting both his foul shots in his rare start. He finished with 11 points and eight assists in his 31 minutes of action. Bayless chipped in three rebounds, but the Raptors would lose to the Bulls, 111-91.
Analysis: Bayless missed one game over the last five, but has seen an average of 22 minutes of action in the other four games. He's tallying 5.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.3 boards over that span. When he starts, Bayless is a legitimate Fantasy guard. But when Calderon is healthy, Bayless is just a nice backup for the Raptors. Continue to view him a low-end guard in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: With guard Jose Calderon out with a foot injury, Jerryd Bayless will start at point guard Tuesday night against the Bulls. Bayless is averaging 15 points over his first five starts of the season.
Analysis: Bayless would likely see a nice statistical boost with Calderon possibly out and he's worth picking up as a handcuff option for Calderon owners if he is available in daily-lineup leagues. Bayless is averaging 15.0 points, 6.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds in five starts.
News: Raptors radio announcer Paul Jones reports that Jose Calderon (foot) has been downgraded to 'doubtful' for Monday night's game at Chicago following the team's morning shootaround. He had been listed as 'questionable.' He will be a game-time decision. Meanwhile, possible replacement Jerryd Bayless (ankle) is considered 'probable.'
News: The Toronto Star reports that Jerryd Bayless expects to play on Tuesday in Chicago. Bayless missed Sunday's game against Boston after re-aggravating his left ankle on Friday. He left in the first half of that game and did not return for the Raptors.
Analysis: Bayless could see a spike in production with Jose Calderon a tad banged up going into the week. However, the lack of a guarantee of playing time makes Bayless a player to avoid activating in weekly formats. He remains merely a handcuff measure for Calderon owners in daily-lineup leagues for now.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless missed Sunday's game against Boston after re-aggravating his left ankle on Friday. He left in the first half of that game and did not return for the Raptors.
Analysis: Bayless has been a bit banged up for Toronto this year, but so has most of the team. Bayless is averaging 8.4 points and 3.5 assists per game this season. The Raptors play four games in Week 11 (Jan. 3-9), but with him still in doubt for the first contest he'd be a risky start for Fantasy owners. When healthy, Bayless is a low-end guard option in deeper formats, so it's probably wise to keep him reserved until he's 100 percent.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless played eight minutes in the first half, then limped to the locker room and did not return after re-aggravating a left ankle sprain on Friday. Bayless failed to take a shot in the game and would have just one assist during his time on the court. Toronto would lose to Houston, 114-105.
Analysis: Bayless is one of many injuries that is hindering the Raptors lately. Bayless is averaging 8.4 points and 3.5 assists per game this season. Over his last five games, Bayless' stat sheet looks like this -- 3.8 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 boards per outing. Toronto plays one more game this scoring period, so Fantasy owners will have one more chance to see if he's healthy enough to go in Week 11 (Jan. 3-9). When healthy, Bayless is a low-end guard option in deeper formats.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless will play in the Raptors' game against Houston on Friday night, according to the team's radio analyst. Bayless was questionable for the game after he suffered a sprained ankle late in Tuesday's game against Dallas. X-rays taken after the game returned negative.
Analysis: Injuries have crippled Toronto this season so Bayless' appearance will be a welcome one. Bayless is averaging 8.4 points and 3.5 assists per game this season as he has been sharing playing time with the Raptors' other point guard, Jose Calderon. Consider Bayless a Fantasy option only in deeper leagues.
News: The Toronto Star reports that Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless plans to play Friday against the Rockets. Bayless sprained his ankle in the fourth quarter against Dallas on Tuesday and didn't get back in the game. X-rays taken after the game came back negative and he'll try to play in the team's next contest.
Analysis: Bayless saw 33 minutes in the previous game before leaving with the Raptors dealing with multiple injuries. The team is decimated by them, in fact, and Bayless could expect to see more run in the short term. That said, he shot just 2 for 10 before getting hurt in Dallas, though he did have eight assists. For now, his Fantasy value remains lower end.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless left during the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 84-76 win over the Mavericks with an ankle injury. Bayless originally injured his ankle in the first quarter but was able to remain on the floor. However, his ankle just appeared to give out on him in the fourth quarter and he hopped off the court, not putting any weight on his left leg or foot. X-rays taken after the game came back negative and he is considered day to day at this point.
Analysis: We don't know what is going on with the Raptors but appears now they may have lost another player, at least for the foreseeable future. While the Bayless injury looked pretty bad, Fantasy owners should be encouraged by the fact that his X-rays came back negative. Hopefully this means his injury is just a sprain of some sort and Bayless won't miss an extended amount of time. Owners should continue to monitor the situation to see what the extent of his injury is. Bayless can be considered a low-end Fantasy guard, when healthy.
News: After missing the last contest due to a stomach flu, Raptors G Jerryd Bayless returned for Monday's game against the Grizzlies. He played 17 minutes off the bench and scored seven points in the 96-85 loss. He went 3 of 7 from the field, including 1 of 5 from downtown. Bayless also had an assist in the defeat. He is averaging 8.5 points with 3.3 assists on the year.
Analysis: Bayless has increased his scoring production since joining the Raptors and filled in admirably while Jose Calderon was bothered by an injury more than a week ago. But since he missed a game due to this sickness, Calderon has managed to regain a firm grip over the point guard duties in Toronto. Bayless has some sleeper appeal for deeper leagues with the Raptors dealing with significant injuries to players like Andrea Bargnani and Sonny Weems, but he is a risky play at best given what is likely to be inconsistent playing time.
News: The Toronto Star reports that Jerryd Bayless (illness) felt better at Monday's morning shootaround in Memphis and is likely to play on Monday night against the Grizzlies. He had been dealing with the effects of a stomach flu.
Analysis: Bayless has been dealing with the bug for about a week. Meanwhile, Jose Calderon has managed to regain a firm grip over the point guard duties in Toronto. Bayless, if he truly is feeling better, has some sleeper appeal for deeper leagues with the Raptors dealing with significant injuries to players like Andrea Bargnani and Sonny Weems, but he is a risky play at best given what is likely to be inconsistent playing time.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless (food poisoning) could not play in the Raptors' game against Detroit on Wednesday night. Bayless missed practice on Monday and joined Sonny Weems as out for Wednesday's game. He is considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Bayless is averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 assists per game this season between Toronto and New Orleans. He has increased his scoring production since joining the Raptors and filled in admirably while Jose Calderon was bothered by an injury more than a week ago. The two reportedly could share minutes once Calderon returns from a foot injury which is less than ideal for Fantasy owners. Give him a look in deeper leagues, especially if you play in daily lineup formats.
News: The Toronto Sun reports that Jose Calderon (foot) may be looking at a split role with Jerryd Bayless when he returns from his foot injury. Hell have to earn his minutes. They will all be fighting for it. Thats the one thing about this team, we have depth. When Jose comes back everybody is going to be in a little bit of a fight and were going to have to play the guys who are helping us win. Bayless scored 31 points with seven assists and five rebounds on Saturday in Detroit in a 120-116 win against the Pistons.
Analysis: Bayless has shown the ability to put up diverse stat lines when given good playing time. He also dropped a 23-6-7 stat line on Dec. 5 against the Knicks with 27 minutes of playing time. Bayless is not guaranteed a prominent role the rest of the way, but it appears he will get his chance and should maintain good playing time as long as he stays hot and Jose Calderon doesn't do anything to overtake him. A split role is not a very appealing situation for Fantasy purposes, but Bayless can do plenty given 25 minutes or so per game -- enough to make him a worthy pickup in any league where he may be available. Calderon may not return until late in Week 8 (Dec. 13-19). Take advantage of his increased playing time while it lasts, especially in daily lineup formats.
News: Raptors guard Jerryd Bayless, who started in place of Jose Calderon, matched his career-high with 31 points in Saturday's 120-116 win over the Pistons. Bayless shot 10 of 12 from the field and logged 34 minutes while helping the Raptors overcome a 25-point deficit in the second half. He went 10 of 12 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with seven assists, five rebounds and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Bayless has shown flashes of his potential this season, but has also delivered some stinkers. He scored just three points in his first start of the season on Friday while filling in for Calderon. However, Calderon is expected back this week, so Bayless will most likely move back to the bench. He is more than capable of putting up decent numbers, but now will have to show he can do so on a consistent basis. Until he does, consider Bayless a low-end Fantasy guard heading into Fantasy Week 8 (Dec. 13-19).
News: Raptors G Jerryd Bayless had an outstanding overall performance in Sunday's game against the Knicks, playing 27 minutes off the bench. He scored 23 points with seven rebounds and six assists. Bayless has put up solid numbers in two of his last three games.
Analysis: Bayless had 16 points, six rebounds and five assists on Dec. 1 against the Wizards. He followed that up with a rather pedestrian line, so we aren't ready to declare him a must-start by any means. However, these two stat lines within such a short span do make him appealing off the waiver wire and he is showing a diverse skill set that makes him appealing in any format.
News: Toronto guard Jerryd Bayless debuted with his new team on Wednesday in a win over the Sixers. Raptors coach Jay Triano said prior to the game that Leandro Barbosa would remain the backup to point guard Jose Calderon and Bayless would see only minimal minutes. Triano was true to his word, as Bayless only played 14 minutes. That said, he scored 13 points compared to Barbosa's 11. Bayless shot 4 of 7 overall and went 3 for 3 from 3-point range. He added two assists and two rebounds as well.
Analysis: Bayless certainly had a more impressive game on Wednesday than did Barbosa. We feel this could be a trend and Bayless could end up warranting more minutes. Bayless has upside but until his minutes go above at least 20 per game with Toronto, he's only going to have low-end Fantasy value.
News:Jerryd Bayless, who was traded from the Raptors to the Hornets on Friday, was not able to make his debut with the Raptors on Sunday against the Celtics. He is, however, expected to make his debut on Wednesday at home against the Sixers. Bayless averaged just 13.5 minutes per game in 11 appearances for the Hornets.
Analysis: Bayless was not being used much in New Orleans, but he may see some more run in Toronto. With Jose Calderon not playing at an overly impressive level, it is conceivable Bayless could carve out a decent role somewhere down the line. He is not yet a player we recommend activating in any Fantasy format. Monitor his development.
News: Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Hornets have agreed, in principle, to trade forward Peja Stojakovic and guard Jerryd Bayless to the Raptors for guard Jarrett Jack, David Andersen and Marcus Banks.
Analysis: Bayless was stuck behind Chris Paul on the depth chart and will likely see more playing time with Toronto. However, he could still at least share minutes with Jose Calderon. Bayless still has low-end Fantasy appeal but he might be monitored by Fantasy owners in case he does see a boost.
News: Hornets guard Jerryd Bayless was given 16 minutes of playing time Monday against Dallas in a loss. Bayless shot 2 of 6 from the field to score five points but he missed both 3-point attempts. Bayless added three assists.
Analysis: Bayless has really disappointed this season. This guy has been labeled a sleeper for a few seasons now but all he does is slumber. He put up 15 points and nine assists on Nov. 9 against the Clippers but has done nothing since. He's erratic, at best, and only has low-end Fantasy value.
News: Hornets guard Jerryd Bayless had his best statistical game of the season in Tuesday's 101-82 win over the Clippers. Bayless, who was averaging just 2.2 points coming into the game, scored a season-high 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting from the floor. He went 1 of 3 from downtown and also chipped in with nine dimes, two assists and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Bayless isn't seeing many minutes this season and only saw extended action on Tuesday because the game was a blowout. He can be a decent source for assists, but should not be starting in the majority of Fantasy leagues until he sees more consistent minutes.
News: Just as he did in two other games already this season, Hornets guard Jerryd Bayless failed to score a single point on Saturday. He took just one shot in 11 minutes of action. Bayless' only statistics came on the negative side of the game, he committed five turnovers and one foul in the win over the Bucks.
Analysis: Bayless is struggling this season in his already-limited opportunity behind All-Star Chris Paul. After six games, he has scored just 13 points and nine assists, total. Continue to ignore Bayless in Fantasy play until he challenges Paul for more minutes, which seems highly unlikely at this point.
News: The Hornets picked up the option for the 2011-12 season for newly acquired guard Jerryd Bayless on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3 Bayless, acquired from Portland on Saturday night in a trade that sent a future Hornets first-round draft pick to the Blazers, is in his third NBA season.
Analysis: Drafted out of Arizona in the first round, 11th overall, in 2008, Bayless worked for the past two seasons with new Hornets coach Monty Williams, a former Blazers assistant. Last season, Bayless played in 74 games, starting 11, and averaged 8.5 points, 2.3 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 17.6 minutes. He has the upside to start someday, but because he remains a backup for now, you can leave him for deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: The Trail Blazers have traded guard Jerryd Bayless to the Hornets for a conditional first-round draft pick, according to multiple reports. Bayless averaged 8.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.6 rebounds in his seven preseason games for Portland. He also shot 35.3 percent from behind the arc. The trade reunites Bayless with new Hornets coach Monty Williams, an assistant in Portland the last two seasons.
Analysis: Bayless was taken by Indiana with the No. 11 pick in the 2008 draft and traded to Portland in a draft-day trade. He made 11 starts last season, averaging 12.6 points, and has scored 6.8 points per game for his career. Bayless has shown some potential in his young NBA career, but got buried on the Trail Blazers depth chart. His move to the Hornets increases his Fantasy value as he'll likely serve as Chris Paul's primary backup. New Orleans traded his backup from last season -- Darren Collison -- in the offseason. Collison produced for the Hornets when Paul got injured, so Bayless could be a nice addition to a Fantasy team of Paul owners. He's still a reserve player, but is now relevant in leagues this season.
News: Jazz G Jerryd Bayless played 23 minutes off the bench in Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz. He scored eight points with four assists and two rebounds. Bayless scored nine points in 15 minutes in Tuesday's opener against the Clippers.
Analysis: Bayless averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game during a six-game series loss to the Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs and showed some promise, but that came with Brandon Roy at less than full strength. Bayless has mild upside, but is going to be limited by his playing time, making him no more than a flier pick in keeper formats. He'll be on and off rosters in seasonal leagues this year.
News: Trail Blazers G Jerryd Bayless averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game during a six-game series loss to the Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs. He averaged 27.8 minutes per game.
Analysis: Bayless got a chance to step up with Brandon Roy out for the first three games and less than 100 percent when he did return for the final games of the series. He averaged 10 more minutes per game than he averaged during the regular season in the playoff series. So Fantasy owners shouldn't get too attached to his numbers, but just keep in mind that this is something he can do with this type of playing time.
News: Trail Blazers G Jerryd Bayless had 17 points with four assists and four rebounds in a Game 5 loss at Phoenix. He is averaging 13.8 points, 3.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds in the series.
Analysis: Bayless is getting a chance to show what he can do on a big stage in a starting role with Brandon Roy unable to play big minutes. He is averaging 27.6 minutes per game in the playoff series, exactly 10 more minutes per game than he averaged during the regular season. So Fantasy owners shouldn't get too attached to his numbers. Just keep in mind that this is something he can do with this type of playing time.
News: Portland guard Jerryd Bayless is helping the Trail Blazers fill the offensive void with Brandon Roy (knee) out. Bayless had 18 points, four rebounds and one assist off the bench Sunday in Game 1 of the first-round playoff series at Phoenix.
Analysis: Bayless should do well in the playoffs and continue to post solid stats. His offense will be needed as long as Roy is out so look for him to play at a high level as long as the Trail Blazers are alive in the playoffs.
News: Trail Blazers G Jerryd Bayless had 10 points with six rebounds and two assists Wednesday night against Indiana. It was his third double-digit performance in his last five games.
Analysis: Bayless is getting around 15-20 minutes per game, which will not lead to much offensive consistency. However, he has been putting up mumbers worthy of considering as a potential stopgap replacement at guard in larger leagues, averaging around 10 points, three rebounds and three assists in his last five games. Bayless' appeal is limited as long as Andre Miller remains healthy.
News: Trail Blazers PG Jerryd Bayless scored 15 points in Friday's loss to the Bulls. It was his third double-digit output in his last five games. In 22 minutes he shot 5 of 8 from the field, missing his only 3-point attempt. He doled out two assists and recorded two steals.
Analysis: Bayless has scored in double figures three times in his last five games, but his minutes are not consistent, making him too risky to rely on in daily leagues. In weekly formats he has some value in deeper leagues.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless played 22 minutes on Friday in a blowout loss to Boston. He scored 14 points on 3 of 6 shooting and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. Bayless added four rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Bayless is often an afterthought for the Blazers and doesn't put up numbers consistently enough to warrant Fantasy use outside of the deepest of leagues.
News: Trail Blazers PG Jerryd Bayless was quiet in limited action against the Clippers on Tuesday, finishing with just six points and three assists in 11 minutes. He shot 0 of 4 from the floor, missing his only 3-point attempt. He recorded one steal.
Analysis: With Brandon Roy leaving Tuesday's game after apparently re-injuring his hamstring and Steve Blake on his way to the Clippers, it would appear Bayless would be ready for more playing time. However, he hasn't been all that effective of late, averaging only 8.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in seven February games. His value only exists in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: According to The Oregonian, Trail Blazers G Nicolas Batum will get his first start of the season on Tuesday night, when the Trail Blazers host the Oklahoma City Thunder. Batum said he will start at small forward and Martell Webster will slide over to shooting guard, which means Jerryd Bayless who had been starting in place of the injured Brandon Roy will move to the second unit.
Analysis: Bayless was headed back to the bench soon anyway with Roy expected back after the All-Star break. He will likely continue to see 20 minutes per game one way or another and remains a viable stopgap measure in deeper Head-to-Head leagues as a cheap source for double-digit scoring. He doesn't offer much outside of that right now.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless will start against the Lakers on Saturday, according to The Oregonian. Bayless missed Friday's practice and played only 12 minutes in Thursday's game against San Antonio because of a sore quadriceps muscle above his left knee.
Analysis: Bayless averaged 14.4 points and 3.0 assists in eight games prior to being injured in Thursday's game. He is a suitable stopgap measure taking Brandon Roy's place in the Blazers' starting lineup.
News: The Columbian reports that Portland guard Jerryd Bayless did not practice Friday due to an injured groin. Bayless was injured in Thursday's game against San Antonio, and he will be listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Lakers.
Analysis: Bayless has increased Fantasy value with Brandon Roy (hamstring) out, but he should still be considered a low-end Fantasy guard. Don't plan on using Bayless in daily leagues when he's less than 100 percent.
News: Despite trying to play through injury, Blazers G Jerryd Bayless was only able to play 12 minutes in a 96-93 win on Thursday. Bayless was held scoreless, shooting 0 for 3 from the field while adding only one rebound and one assist. According to The Columbian, Bayless said he is also dealing with a bruised left thigh and was unsure whether he would play Saturday against the Lakers.
Analysis: Bayless did not look healthy in Thursday night's game as he was riding exercise bikes just to see if he could loosen up to get back in the game. With Brandon Roy possibly returning to the lineup over the weekend, Bayless will likely take a back seat to Roy and will see a decrease in production. Bayless has shown that he is capable of putting up solid numbers when healthy and can be a good stop-gap if Roy's injury problems persist.
News: According to Trail Blazers director of public relations Jim Taylor, Blazers G Jerryd Bayless is probable for Thursday night's game against San Antonio. Bayless hurt his wrist while dunking in Wednesday's game in Utah.
Analysis: With Brandon Roy ruled out Thursday, Bayless will remain the starting lineup. He is averaging 14.6 points over his last five games -- all with Roy out -- and Fantasy owners should continue to view him as a suitable stopgap measure while he gets this type of playing time due to Roy's absence.
News: Portland G Jerryd Bayless scored 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting to help the Blazers defeat Charlotte 98-79 on Monday. Bayless played 21 minutes and grabbed two rebounds in the contest. He has scored in double digits in six consecutive contests.
Analysis: Bayless continues to put points on the board for Portland and has averaged 14.2 points over his last five games. While Bayless was a good play for Fantasy Week 15 (Feb.1-7), Brandon Roy is eyeing a return later in the week that could cut minutes for Bayless. He will become a low-end Fantasy option once Roy does return.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless scored 17 points against the Mavericks on Friday. In 29 minutes he shot 7 of 11 from the field, missing both 3-pointers he attempted. He added two assists, one rebound and one steal.
Analysis: Bayless is playing well in Brandon Roy's absence. He's scored in double figures in six straight games, averaging 14.0 points over his last five. Unfortunately, Bayless' value will fall back to earth once Brandon Roy comes back to the Blazers, returning him to a low-end Fantasy option.
News: According to The Oregonian, Trail Blazers G Jerryd Bayless will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Utah. Bayless played 13 minues off the bench in his last game after missing one game due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: Bayless is getting a chance to start only because Brandon Roy is out due to injury. Once Roy returns some time in the next few games, Bayless' minuets will take a big hit and his long-term Fantasy appeal remains null as a result. In the short term, he has some appeal in deeper leagues if a low-end stopgap is needed at guard.
News: Portland G Jerryd Bayless returned to the Blazers lineup Monday after missing Saturday's game with an ankle injury. Bayless played 13 minutes and scored 12 points 5 of 8 shooting from the field. He added one rebound and five assists.
Analysis: Bayless saw limited minutes in his return, but with three games remaining in Fantasy Week 14 (Jan. 25-31) and an injury to Brandon Roy, look for Bayless to have an increase in production during the week. He was fairly efficient in his limited role on Monday.
News: The Oregonian reports Portland guard Jerryd Bayless (left ankle) will be a game-time decision for Monday's game against New Orleans. Bayless did not play Saturday at Detroit after getting hurt Friday at Boston. He started the game against the Celtics in place of the injured Brandon Roy (hamstring).
Analysis: Bayless could be in line for a solid week with Roy expected to be out or limited with his injury. Still, Bayless is also an injury risk, so use caution when setting your lineup for Fantasy Week 14.
News: Blazers G Jerryd Bayless did not play Saturday because of a sprained ankle. He spent 10-15 minutes shooting and was in obvious discomfort. He gave it one final try by running some sprints and was unable to go. His status is questionable for January 25.
Analysis: Fantasy owners will have to keep tabs on Bayless to see if he will be able to play for Fantasy Week 14 (Jan. 25-31). Portland plays four games and if Bayless is healthy, will be called upon to be productive in place of Brandon Roy who will miss the next four games with a hamstring injury.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless, who started in place of Brandon Roy on Friday, left the game in the third quarter after spraining his left ankle. Prior to the injury he scored 12 points, dished four assists and grabbed two rebounds in 21 minutes on the court.
Analysis: Bayless' value increased as he was expected to put up bigger numbers replacing Roy at SG in the Blazers' starting lineup. With Bayless injured Roy's minutes would go to Rudy Fernandez. Wait for Bayless to undergo further examination to determine the severity of his injury and whether or not he will miss any time.
News: Bob Myers, the agent for Brandon Roy, said the All-Star guard will be given one week of rest before his right hamstring is re-evaluated next Thursday, according to The Oregonian. Roy flew to from Philadelphia to Seattle with team athletic trainer Jay Jensen on Thursday to receive a second opinion on his strained right hamstring. The consensus out of that meeting was to give Roy a week to recover, then determine a course of action. Roy's re-evaluation will come on Jan. 28, the same day the team will depart to Houston for a two-game trip against the Rockets (Jan. 29) and Dallas Mavericks (Jan. 30). Jerryd Bayless picked up some of the slack for Roy Wednesday scoring 18 points to help push the Blazers past the 76ers. Bayless should continue to start in his place.
Analysis: Roy will miss at least the Blazers' next four games: Friday night in Boston, Saturday in Detroit, and home games Jan. 25 against New Orleans and Jan. 27 against Utah. He could possibly return for the team's final two games in Fantasy Week 14 (Jan. 25-31), but he will be a very risky play in weekly formats and somebody we recommend playing it safe with. Bayless becomes a very solid addition off the waiver wire in the short term. His value is higher in cumulative leagues as we don't expect much out of him outside of scoring while Andre Miller is running the point. He will be used more as a two-guard.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless picked up the slack Wednesday scoring 18 points to help push the Blazers past the 76ers. Sixteen of his points came in the second half, more than adequately replacing SG Brandon Roy, who left in the second quarter after aggravating a hamstring injury. Bayless shot 7 of 12 from the field in 21 minutes.
Analysis: Roy's injury could lead to an increased scoring role for Bayless, so he's worth keeping an eye on. But without those extra minutes he's just a low-end Fantasy option for use in deeper leagues.
News:The Oregonian reports that Brandon Roy (hamstring) will not play Monday against Washington. Jerryd Bayless will start in his place.
Analysis: Roy was able to go through warmups, according to the report. He said his hamstring felt better, but the team decided to keep him out to be safe. Fantasy owners will still have a very tough lineup decision to make for Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 18-24), but this is officially the latest coming from the team. Start him at your own risk. The Blazers still have three games after Monday. Bayless remains just a low-end Fantasy option for use in deeper leagues.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless hit two threes and shot 4 for 8 overall from the field on Wednesday as the Blazers beat the Bucks. Bayless played 18 minutes and scored 15 points with two assists and three turnovers.
Analysis: Bayless is averaging 12 points and 2.6 dimes per game over his last five. He has the ability to score in bunches despite minimal minutes on the court. Still, until those minutes pick up, he's just a low-end Fantasy option for use in deeper leagues.
News: Trail Blazers PG Jerryd Bayless had 13 points, five assists and four rebounds in 29 minutes off the bench Tuesday against the Grizzlies. He had scored in double figures in only one of his previous five games.
Analysis: Bayless' minutes and production have increased since he broke out for 31 points on Dec. 23, but he still hasn't emerged as a consistent enough scorer to use outside of deeper Fantasy leagues. He has potential, but he remains just a low-end option.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless has a solid performance coming off the bench on Wednesday against the Clippers. He went 5 for 14 from the field, scoring 14 points and adding eight assists. He also had a steal and two turnovers in the game.
Analysis: Bayless has only two points in the team's previous game against the Sixers but three games ago put together a 31-point performance in a starting chance in place of Brandon Roy. He has the potential to be a solid contributor but will need to get more minutes to become more than just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Trail Blazers PG Jerryd Bayless scored a career-high 31 points in his first start for Brandon Roy (shoulder) as the hobbled Trail Blazers, using two new starters, beat the San Antonio Spurs 98-94 on Wednesday night for their third straight win -- all on the road.
Analysis: Bayless entered Wednesday's game averaging 7.5 points. But the second-year guard had his second big night in five games having scored 29 in a win over Phoenix last week. "I've always had confidence, but I didn't know I was going to that," Bayless said of his spectacular first start. Roy isn't expected to miss a whole lot of time with his shoulder issue, so don't get too excited about Bayless at this point. He's worth adding in deeper leagues if you have the roster room, though.
News: Trail Blazers PG Andre Miller took an arm to the face in the second quarter, and reserve PG Jerryd Bayless took advantage, scoring a career-high 29 points to go along with four assists and three rebounds in 29 minutes off the bench Thursday against the Suns. "He's getting the opportunity to play and making the most of it," Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. "We know JB can put points on the board. With all the guys that we have out, we need him."
Analysis: Bayless had yet to score more than 14 points in a game this season, but he has picked up his play of late, averaging 11.3 points over his last nine games. With more consistent playing time, he could make some noise in Fantasy, but he should remain on waivers until this performance becomes more than an isolated incident.
News: A rash of injuries for the Trail Blazers has opened the door for PG Jerryd Bayless to play more. Bayless had 14 points and two assists in 17 minutes off the bench Monday at New York. He has scored in double figures in three of his last four games, averaging 10.8 points.
Analysis: Bayless has upside, but the Blazers rarely give him an opportunity to show it. Maybe this increase of playing time will help him earn a better spot in the rotation, but don't hold your breath. Leave him on waivers in Fantasy.
News: The Oregonian reports Portland guard Rudy Fernandez will miss Wednesday night's home game against Dallas because of injuries suffered in Monday's game against the Lakers. "He's very sore," coach Nate McMillan said at Wednesday's shoot-around. Fernandez reported to the team's practice facility on Wednesday morning, but left about 15 minutes before the shoot-around started. Fernandez bruised his right hip and experienced some soreness in his upper right chest after falling hard to the court after the Lakers' Trevor Ariza fouled him from behind on a fast break. McMillan said he is unsure how he will disperse the more than 25 minutes a game Fernandez averages, but his options improved Wednesday when rookie Jerryd Bayless reported to shootaround having kicked his flu-like symptoms, which sent him home from practice on Tuesday.
Analysis: Keep Fernandez reserved in all daily leagues and hope he can return Friday against New Jersey. When healthy, he is a No. 4 Fantasy guard. Bayless can take advantage of this time, but Bayless isn't worth using in Fantasy leagues just yet.
News: Blazers G Jerryd Bayless scored just three points in 14 minutes of playing time off the bench Thursday in Denver. He is averaging just 3.3 points and 1.8 assists over his last five games, getting just under 12 minutes per contest.
Analysis: Bayless showed some signs of promise when Steve Blake was out with an injury, but his playing time severely decreased once he returned. He has some measure of value in long-term keeper leagues, but is virtually useless in any season format at this time.
News: Portland PG Steve Blake missed Wednesday's game against the Thunder with a separated right shoulder. Portland coach Nate McMillan said Blake, who has missed 11 of the past 12 games, also is doubtful for Thursday night's game at Golden State. Sergio Rodriguez once again started in his place, but had just three points with four assists and two rebounds in 20 minutes. Jerryd Bayless had 12 points and eight assists in 28 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Rodriguez is getting the starts, but it is Bayless who is getting the majority of the Fantasy boost. Bayless is averaging 10.6 points, 4.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds over his last five games and he is making a decent play for deeper Fantasy leagues if a stopgap is needed. However, it sounds like Blake should be back after the break and that would likely lead to a decline in production for Rodriguez and Bayless.
News: With Steve Blake (shoulder) out for Portland, rookie guard Jerryd Bayless has stepped up his play. Bayless had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists Wednesday at Dallas and now has scored at least 11 points in three of his past five games.
Analysis: Bayless is worth adding in deeper leagues at this time and should play well as long as Blake is out. In keeper leagues, Bayless could be the point guard of the future in Portland, and he's playing well enough now to make that a strong consideration.
News: Portland PG Jerryd Bayless took advantage of Chris Paul getting hurt to help defeat New Orleans on Monday night. He scored 13 of his 19 points during the decisive surge after Paul went out. The rookie guard threw down a couple of thunderous fast-break dunks during the spurt and added a fast-break layup as he was fouled by James Posey. Bayless finished 7-of-9 from the field with two steals and six assists.
Analysis: Bayless played like a different player on Monday night and Portland would love to see this continue as Steve Blake is now out for at least another week. Still, the history suggests he won't continue to play at this kind of level and he remains only worth using as a flier in deeper leagues.
News: Blazers G Jerryd Bayless scored seven points with two rebounds and an assist in Monday's game against Milwaukee. He played 15 minutes off the bench. He has scored a combined 21 points in two games since erupting for 23 points at the Nets on Jan. 15.
Analysis: Bayless got just four field goals in Monday's game, but he saw at least nine shots in his previous three games. The team will need to fill the void left by injured starter Steve Blake for at least the next couple of weeks and Bayless will have a chance for increased production. Fantasy owners in deeper leagues can think about taking a flier on him.
News: Portland rookie Jerryd Bayless scored a career-high 23 to lead the Trail Blazers to a 105-99 victory over New Jersey on Thursday night, snapping the Nets' season-high four-game home winning streak. Portland lost by 21 points to Philadelphia in a game it lost point guard Steve Blake for a week-to-10 days with a separated shoulder. Bayless, who had scored 53 points in his previous 18 games, made up for the loss. He added three assists and three rebounds and shot 6-of-9 from the floor.
Analysis: Bayless will continue to get big minutes with Blake out for over a week. He may even start shortly as he outperformed Sergio Rodriguez on Thursday. Bayless is a very promising scorer and is definitely worth adding in deeper leagues for the next scoring period until Blake returns.
News: Blazers PG Jerryd Bayless will get some time in the Blazers' rotation for a short amount of time as Rudy Fernandez is out with a sore foot.
Analysis: Bayless will only get to play a couple of games as Fernandez' injury is not thought to be serious. He could be stashed, but nothing more than that.
News: The Trail Blazers will play three games in Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2). They'll play at the L.A. Lakers on Oct. 28, at home against San Antonio on Oct. 31 and at Phoenix on Nov 1.
Analysis: The Blazers will be without Martell Webster to begin the season, so that means Travis Outlaw will be in the starting lineup at small forward. He had some appeal as a No. 4 forward option last season, but will no longer be the team's sixth man option. That role goes to Rudy Fernandez, who should begin the season as a No. 4 guard, but could emerge into a No. 2 over the course of the season with big minutes coming his way. Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden are must-starts in Fantasy for Week 1. Steve Blake has some low-end appeal in larger formats as the starting point guard for a three-game team this week. Jerryd Bayless, Joel Przybilla, Channing Frye, Ike Diogu, Nicolas Batum and Sergio Rodriguez should be reserved in all formats until further notice.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Blazers rookie G Jerryd Bayless is currently running as the third-string point guard behind starter Steve Blake and third-year pro Sergio Rodriguez. Coach Nate McMillan said the 6-foot-3 Bayless also will get minutes at shooting guard in the preseason, "but he's more of a point guard on this team. With Brandon and Rudy at shooting guard, the point is where we need him most."
Analysis: McMillan said that the Blazers would lean on Blake first and then Rodriguez and then Bayless at the point. That is a major competition for minutes and Bayless, although he's working hard, is going to lose out. Fantasy owners in keeper leagues should target Bayless as a potential 15-20 ppg scorer somewhere down the line with a good three-point stroke but just don't expect any kind of Fantasy impact early in the season.
News: The Trail Blazers completed the draft-night deal that brought Jerryd Bayless and forward Ike Diogu to Portland, and sent Brandon Rush, Jarrett Jack, Josh McRoberts and cash to the Indiana Pacers. The Blazers acquired the draft rights to Bayless, the 11th overall draft pick, while Indiana received the rights to Rush, the 13th pick. The deal was struck on June 26, but could not be formally announced until Wednesday. "Bayless will make our backcourt more athletic. He's a proven scorer and a tenacious competitor," general manager Kevin Pritchard said in a statement.
Analysis: We tentatively have Bayless projected to average somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 points with three assists and two rebounds. This all depends on how much playing time he'll get and that's something that will be decided in the preseason. Fantasy owners in keeper leagues should target Bayless as a potential 15-20 ppg scorer somewhere down the line with a good three-point stroke.
