News: The New Orleans Pelicans announced Friday that guard Eric Gordon underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure Thursday in his left ankle to alleviate pain caused by particles of scar tissue. Gordon is currently recovering from the procedure and will begin rehabilitation immediately while returning to basketball activities later in the summer.
Analysis: Gordon can't avoid the injury bug, whether it was his knee or now his ankle. We hope he will make a full recovery in time for the start of next season, but continue to monitor his recovery. When healthy and active, Gordon is a standout Fantasy option in all leagues, but health is always the key with him. If he is ready for the start of next year then plan on drafting him with a mid-round pick.
News: Pelicans general manager Dell Demps would rule out the possibility of the team exploring options to trade shooting guard Eric Gordon, the Times-Picayune reported Monday. Demps said he will listen to any offers made that he feels could help the team improve on its 27-55 record last season. "To say if I anticipate him being back I dont know if thats something I can answer right now, or him not to be back, Demps said. "Were going to sit down and evaluate every situation and opportunity."
Analysis: Gordon averaged a team-best 17 points per game, but missed 40 tilts due to a right knee and restrictions from doctors that prevented him from playing in back-to-back sets. The 24-year-old has only played in 51 games in his two years in New Orleans and it is starting to sound like the Pelicans may be ready to move on. While he is under contract with New Orleans next year, owners will have to continue to monitor the situation in the coming months. Gordon has the potential to produce high-end numbers when healthy, but his injury history continues to limit his value.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was able to play Wednesday against the Clippers after missing Monday's game with a sore left ankle. Gordon started and saw 34 minutes as he went 9 of 18 from the field and scored 24 points. He dished out three assists and picked up three steals in the game, though he was 0 for 4 from long range.
Analysis: Gordon has only played in 32 games this season due to his right knee issues and he is now is dealing with soreness in his left ankle. He is not 100 percent, despite playing, and that makes him a risky Fantasy option. Gordon, who still doesn't play in back-to-back sets, is averaging 16.5 points on 40.3 percent shooting from the field this season, making him a viable start in most formats when healthy.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was ruled out for Monday's contest against the Nuggets due to soreness in his left ankle, coach Monty Williams told reporters. "(Gordon) has a sore ankle. We just found that out about midday today. It's part for the course here in New Orleans. . . . It's just been sore, for whatever reason. We'll wait (to make a final decision until game time) but it's highly doubtful right now," Williams told the Times-Picayune.
Analysis: Gordon has only played in 31 of New Orleans' 70 games on the year due to his right knee issues and he is now is dealing with soreness in his left ankle. While Gordon's injury is not being considered serious right now, it still makes him an injury risk heading into Week 22 (March 25-31). The Hornets are slated to play four times this week -- with no back-to-back sets -- so Gordon could still in line to play three games this week, assuming he can return by Wednesday. Gordon is averaging 16.5 points on 40.3 percent shooting from the field this season, making him a viable start in most formats when healthy.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets guard Eric Gordon remains under strict restrictions by team doctors that prevents him from playing in the second game of back to back sets to avoid overworking his knee. Gordon also is under a minute restriction to not average more 30 minutes a game since returning Dec. 29. "People just think I'm out here playing with my knee at 100 percent,'' Gordon said. "I feel pretty good, I feel better but I'm still rehabbing. This is not a process where it takes only a few months. It's going to take awhile and for me to play at a level that I should and capable of, it was going to be tough. I came back not even in shape. I just came out there like I was coming off the street playing the game.'' With only 13 games remaining in the regular season, Hornets Coach Monty Williams said it's likely that Gordon will remain under restrictions for the duration. ''Unless somebody tells me differently, it's not going to change,'' Williams said last week.
Analysis: Gordon said the team doctors check his knee periodically and he wants to play all of the remaining games on the schedule. But the Hornets' only remaining back to back set is April 9-10, when they play the Lakers and Kings on the road. ''There's nothing like playing and being a part of this transition and being a good teammate,'' Gordon said. ''The thing is to keep on playing and making sure I'm healthy throughout the rest of the season. That's the main thing because you don't want to do nothing over the top where I could risk anything. Personally, I want to play in every game and make sure I play well.'' Continue to keep Gordon active in all leagues, but just be aware he could sit out April 10 with the back to back set.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon scored 18 points in Wednesday's one-point victory over Boston. The guard played 31 minutes and shot 6 of 15 from the field, though he was 0 for 3 from deep. He added two rebounds and three assists in the mediocre all around performance.
Analysis: Gordon has had two underwhelming games in a row and continues to sit out the second half of back-to-back sets. Until that changes, his Fantasy value will be somewhat limited. Still, he produces enough in the games he does play to remain viable in most formats.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon led the way during a loss at Brooklyn on Tuesday night. Gordon scored 24 points and went 8 of 17 from the field over 33 minutes. He hit three 3-pointers in eight attempts and added three assists and a steal.
Analysis: Gordon continues to sit out the second half of back-to-back sets and didn't play last Sunday against Portland. Otherwise, his game is at a solid level right now. He can be active in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon continues to struggle on the offensive end of the court following halftime. Gordon went just 2 for 8 from the field in the second half of New Orleans' loss to the Magic on Monday night after connecting on five of his first seven attempts. He also missed on seven of his eight attempts in the second half of Friday's win over the Pistons. "I've been noticing that and so has the coaches, Gordon told the Times-Picayune "I talked to coach about that today. I just need to do more things in the second half. This is definitely not one of the better years of my career for sure. I get out of rhythm sometimes.''
Analysis: Gordon's second half struggles are a bit puzzling, but they are starting to become an all too frequent occurrence. Despite averaging 18 points over the six games he has appeared in since the All-Star break, Gordon has made just 10 of his 41 field-goal attempts in the second half of those contests. Coach Monty Williams said he plans on combating the problem by running more plays for Gordon moving forward and also added that he considers the 24-year-old the best closer on his roster. Keep in mind Gordon remains on restriction from team doctors that prevents him in playing in any back-to-back sets. While Gordon is averaging a team-high 16.8 points per game on the year, his 40.1 percent field-goal percentage and minutes restriction continue to limit his value. Consider him more of a mid-range option right now.
News: As expected, Hornets guard Eric Gordon was able to get right back on the court for Friday's contest against the Pistons. Gordon, who sat out of New Orleans loss to the Thunder on Wednesday because he has still not been cleared to play in back-to-back sets, finished with 21 points in the 100-95 win. He connected on six of his 18 field-goal attempts and also added four rebounds, three assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 30 minutes of game action.
Analysis: The Hornets do have another back-to-back set coming up in Fantasy Week 19 (March 4-10), which means Gordon will likely only be available to play in three of New Orleans' four scheduled games in the next scoring period. The 24-year-old has played well when he has been on the court as he is entered Friday's tilt averaging 17.2 points on 42 percent shooting from the field over his previous six games. Fantasy owners should consider Gordon a solid mid-range option moving forward.
News: As expected, Hornets guard Eric Gordon was held out of Wednesday's contest against the Thunder as he continues to work his way back from a right knee injury. Gordon, who has still not been cleared to play in back-to-back sets, is expected to be back in the lineup for Friday's matchup vs. Detroit.
Analysis: Gordon remains on doctors' orders not to overwork his surgically repaired right knee and he will continue to sit out the second leg of back-to-back sets as a result. Gordon has played well when he has been on the court as he is averaging 17.2 points on 42 percent shooting from the field over his last six games. The Hornets do have another back-to-back set coming up in Fantasy Week 19 (March 4-10), which means Gordon will likely only be available to play in three of New Orleans' four scheduled games in the next scoring period. Consider Gordon more of a mid-range option with high-end potential, while he remains on restriction.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon is not expected to play in Wednesday's contest against at Oklahoma City as he continues to work his way back from a right knee injury, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon, who finished with 10 points on 4 of 15 shooting from the field in New Orleans' loss to the Nets on Tuesday night, has still not been cleared to play in back-to-back sets.
Analysis: Gordon remains on doctors' orders not to overwork his surgically repaired right knee, so he will likely find himself in street clothes Wednesday night. Despite his off night against the Nets, the 24-year-old has played well when he has been on the court this season as he was averaging 18.6 points on 44 percent shooting from the field over his previous five games.
News: After missing his previous game due to his lingering knee issues, Hornets guard Eric Gordon was back in the starting lineup Friday against the Mavericks. He struggled with his shot a bit in the game, but still finished with 23 points on 7 of 19 shooing overall. Gordon made just 1 of 6 three-point attempts, however he lived at the free-throw line, going 8 for 9. He added three rebounds and two assists, however he did turn the ball over four times in 26 minutes, in a 104-100 loss. One of his four turnovers proved particularly costly, as he turned the ball over with six seconds remaining in the game and the Hornets down by two points.
Analysis: Gordon is still limited in when he can play, due to his knee issue, but he has been mostly a full-time player when on the court. He cannot play on back-to-back nights, but is still have a solid season overall. Gordon is averaging 16.6 points per game on the season, despite playing just 29.5 minutes per game and shooting 40.8 percent from the field. Gordon should continue to get healthier as the season goes on, so expect him to improve. Fantasy owners should continue to keep him active in most formats, when healthy.
News: The NBA trade deadline passed Thursday without the Hornets trading away guard Eric Gordon. Gordon, who missed the first 29 games this season, will remain with the Hornets for the remainder of the season, but may be shipped away during the offseason, according to a report from the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Analysis: Gordon, who became the focus of some trade rumors leading up to the deadline, will stay put with the Hornets for the final half of the season. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, several teams appeared to be concerned about Gordons health and his contract. The 24-year-old is averaging 16.6 points, 2.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds on 40.8 percent shooting through 19 games this season. The Hornets continue to handle Gordon with care as he is still restricted from playing the second game of back-to-back sets to avoid overworking his knee. Fantasy owners should continue to keep an eye on his status moving forward and consider him a viable option in the majority of formats, when healthy.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was unable to play Wednesday night against the Cavaliers. Gordon remains on strict restrictions by the Hornets medical staff to not play in the second game of back-to-back sets as a precaution with his knee. He played Tuesday night against Chicago, going 8 for 17 from the field with three 3-pointers to score a team-high 20 points. Gordon added two rebounds and an assist. "I wish that (policy) was over, but we don't see it ending anytime soon," coach Monty Williams said. "For whatever reason, the doctors feel that's best for Eric. But he's healthy, so it's tough."
Analysis: The Hornets continue to handle Gordon with care but there are rumors that they could trade him as well. Keep an eye on the situation leading up to the deadline. Gordon is averaging 16.6 points in 19 games this season and should be considered a viable option in the majority of Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets guard Eric Gordon is not expected to play Wednesday night at Cleveland.
Analysis: Fantasy owners will just have to remain patient with Gordon as he deals with his knee. When he is on the court he remains a quality Fantasy option in the majority of leagues, but his knee injury might linger all season. Keep him reserved Wednesday since it's almost a guarantee he will rest.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon (hand) was able to play on Tuesday against Chicago after going through shootaround. Gordon practiced Monday but did say his hand was still feeling sore. He looked OK Tuesday, going 8 for 17 from the field with three 3-pointers to score a team-high 20 points. Gordon added two rebounds and an assist.
Analysis: Gordon may have issues with the hand going forward if it isn't completely healed but unless otherwise noted, Fantasy owners should treat him as healthy. The 24-year-old missed the first 29 games of the season because of a patella tendon disorder and bone bruise in his right knee and has missed an additional five games as he remains on a strict minutes restriction, which forces him to sit out the second game of back-to-back sets. Gordon has managed to play well through all these issues, so if he's active, get him in there for your Fantasy team.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon said Monday that his hand remains sore, but he's ready to play Tuesday against Chicago, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon missed the final two games before the All-Star break after injuring his right hand during shootaround last Wednesday.
Analysis: Gordon should be fine for Week 17 (Feb. 18-24) and going forward, though we remain a bit skeptical because he said his hand remains sore. The 24-year-old missed the first 29 games of the season because of a patella tendon disorder and bone bruise in his right knee and has missed an additional five games as he remains on a strict minutes restriction, which forces him to sit out the second game of back-to-back sets. However, he has still managed to put up 16.4 points and 2.8 assists on 40 percent shooting over 18 games and can be considered a viable low-end start when healthy.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon is being listed as day to day after X-rays taken on his sprained right hand came back negative, ESPN reports. Gordon was forced to sit out of New Orleans' win over the Piston's last Wednesday night after he injured his hand during the team's morning shootaround. The Hornets will open the unofficial second half of the season next Tuesday at Chicago.
Analysis: This is very good news for Fantasy owners and the Hornets as it appears Gordon's latest ailment won't keep him sidelined for long.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the Pistons with a sprained right hand. Gordon sustained the injury during New Orleans' win over the Pistons last Sunday. He is being listed as day to day, according to the team's official website.
Analysis: Gordon is now dealing with a hand injury, but the good news is he will now get six days off as the Hornets don't play again until next Tuesday night. Hopefully the 24-year-old can get himself right over the break and not miss any games during Fantasy Week 17 (Feb. 18-24). Gordon has been on a minutes restriction since his return to the lineup from a knee injury and has put up 16.4 points and 2.8 assists on 40 percent shooting over his 18 games. Gordon can be considered a viable start in deeper formats when healthy.
News: Despite approaching the two-month point since his return from a knee injury, Hornets guard Eric Gordon continues to play under strict guidelines and remains under a minute restriction. Most notably, Gordon has yet to participate in the second part of back-to-back sets and there is no clear timetable for that first appearance since he made his debut Dec. 29. "I came back not at 100 percent," Gordon told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "I was nowhere near in shape, Im still not at 100 percent today. Im still just battling through it."
Analysis: Gordon, who has emerged as the team's second-leading scorer at 16.4 points per game, has exceeded 33 minutes only once during the 16 games since his debut. "I would like to see it change," coach Monty Williams said. "Those are the cards weve been dealt with. We cant go against what the doctors want us to do. Ill love to see him pour in one of those 25- to 30-point nights and dominate a game." Gordon has expressed no issues with his surgically repaired right knee and will attempt to weave through some restrictions after the All-Star break. For now, he is a worthwhile option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon scored a season-high 27 points his last time out but had a much quieter performance on Sunday against the Raptors. He finished with just six point on 2-of-7 shooting in the 102-89 loss. He went 1 for 2 from beyond the arc and made 1 of 2 free throws while playing 29 minutes. Gordon also posted four assists and turned the ball over six times in the defeat.
Analysis: Gordon continues to build strength in his surgically-repaired knee and will sit out from time to time, mostly on back-to-backs. That has made his production inconsistent but the 24-year-old can still light up the scoreboard from time to time. He is averaging 12.8 points with 2.3 assists on 37 percent shooting in his previous four contests so keep an eye on his progress. While he has high-end potential, Gordon remains more of an option for deeper Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon said Tuesday he feels rested after receiving additional time off to recover from his previous appearance, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Gordon did not play in the second leg of the team's back-to-back set last Saturday at Minnesota as he continues to build strength in his knee. "This has been big for me, definitely," he said. "We had a lot of games on the road (five in eight nights last week), and even before the road trip we had a lot of games and it kind of wore down on me."
Analysis: Gordon will be back in the lineup for Wednesday's home game against Phoenix -- nearly a week after his last outing when he was limited to just nine points and two assists in 25 minutes. "I had some back spasms a little bit. It was tough for me to move around," he admitted. "I was hitting a lot of 3s during the trip, but it was really hard for me to maneuver around and get to the basket much. I'm definitely feeling better and fresher." Gordon still has plenty of work to accomplish before returning to high-end Fantasy status, but he remains a quality option in deeper formats.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon sat out Saturday's game at Minnesota as team doctors still haven't cleared him to play in back-to-back games while recovering from knee surgery. Gordon played 25 minutes at Denver on Friday despite a sore back and finished with just nine points. A night after committing 22 turnovers, the Hornets badly missed their star shooting guard and turned the ball over 23 times against the Timberwolves.
Analysis: New Orleans is now 8-7 when Gordon plays and 7-26 in games he's missed. There is no clear timetable for when he will be inserted back into the lineup for both games of a back-to-back set. "It's tough when you have a guy who can put up 20 points and you've got to sit him," coach Monty Williams said before the game. Gordon has been inconsistent during his return and is averaging 16.9 points on 40.9-percent shooting from the field. Fantasy owners should still view him as a viable option in most formats at this point.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon said he played on Friday against Denver while dealing with a sore back, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune Saturday. Gordon played 25 minutes and scored nine points on 3 of 8 shooting after sitting out on Wednesday. However, he missed Wednesday's game due to continuing to sit on back-to-back game days following his knee injury.
Analysis: We're not sure how this latest news about Gordon's back will affect his playing time. The Hornets play Saturday in Minnesota and Gordon should be considered probable to play. He's played well, when healthy, but his limitations still make him a risky start on occasion.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was able to play, as expected, Friday against the Nuggets, after sitting out the teams previous game on a back to back. Gordon scored nine points on 3 of 8 shooting in 25 minutes, and he seemed a bit rusty. He turned the ball over five times and had just two assists and two rebounds, in a 113-98 loss.
Analysis: Gordon has not reached the point where he is comfortable playing on back-to-back nights, and it is no surprise that there are still nights where he does not look 100-percent healthy. He was averaging 18.8 points per game in the previous 10 games, while shooting 48.5 percent from the field. Gordon has clearly shown the ability to be a high-end Fantasy option, even while working his way back to shape. His inability to play on consecutive nights might cost you some numbers here and there, but Gordon is worth starting in most Fantasy formats.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon could not play Wednesday in Utah as he continues to sit out the second half of back-to-back games after his recovery from a knee injury. Gordon, who has yet to play in back-to-back games, scored 25 points and hit six 3-pointers on Tuesday in Los Angeles against the Lakers. The Hornets' PR staff did report that Gordon is feeling soreness in his right knee. Coach Monty Williams told the team's official website that he does not know how much longer this issue will hinder Gordon. I dont know how long its going to last, Williams said. I wish it was over. As a coach you want all your guys available, but everybody is dealing with that. It happens. We want to make sure we do everything medically right in Erics situation.
Analysis: Gordon has played in 14 games since his return, but none have come on consecutive days as he is not yet ready for that. We're not sure if his knee is bothering him or not, but he's yet to play in back-to-backs so we'll consider his absence planned for now. Gordon is averaging over 17 points, three assists and 1.5 3-pointers per game and should be active in the majority of Fantasy formats despite his inconvenient schedule.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon recorded 20 points and two assists during New Orleans' 100-82 loss against Houston on Friday night. Gordon, playing in his fourth consecutive outing since missing a game with a sore right knee, went 6 for 14 from the field, including 2 of 4 from long range. However, he failed to grab a rebound for the third time this season despite logging 31 minutes of playing time. He also had three turnovers.
Analysis: Gordon entered Friday's game averaging 17.4 points per game, but he has been unable to produce the sterling shooting touch he displayed during the early part of his career. He is shooting below 40 percent from the field this year -- he's never finished a season below 44 percent -- and owns a 30.6 clip from downtown. As the Hornets' leading scoring option, Gordon should remain active in most Fantasy formats as he can heat up quickly.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon had another productive night from the floor on Wednesday against the Spurs. He scored 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the 106-102 loss. He made all three of his attempt from beyond the arc and was a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe. Gordon also posted two rebounds and a steal while playing 29 minutes in the defeat.
Analysis: Gordon played his 11th game of the season on Wednesday and has scored in double figures in all but one of them. After some early struggles with his shot, he is shooting 58 percent from downtown in the previous five contests and 48 percent overall. Gordon is averaging 18.8 points with 1.5 steals during that stretch. Owners should continue to monitor his status going forward to see if the Hornets will give his knee issue a break. As long as he is on the court, however, keep Gordon active in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was able to overcome a sore right knee issue and turned in a solid performance during Saturday's contest against the Warriors. Gordon went 7 of 16 shooting from the field, including 3 of 7 from downtown, and 6 of 7 from the free throw line. He finished with 23 points, three assists, three steals and a rebound while logging 31 minutes of game action in a 116-112 defeat.
Analysis: Gordon, who missed his last game with a knee injury, was able to bounce back with a solid performance. He has scored 20-plus points four times through his first nine games played this season. Gordon is averaging 17.6 points on 38.2 percent shooting through his first nine games after missing the first 27 games of the season due to knee and quad injuries. Fantasy owners should still consider him as a solid option in the majority of formats heading into Week 13 (Jan. 21-27).
News:The Times Picayune reports Hornets guard Eric Gordon said he will return to the lineup Saturday vs. Golden State. Gordon was held out of Wednesday's game against the Celtics because of a sore right knee, but it was only precautionary to avoid setback by playing on consecutive nights. Gordon has averaged 29.3 minutes in his first eight games since returning Dec. 29 from a patella tendon disorder and bone bruise in his right knee.
Analysis: Coach Monty Williams said team doctors told him Gordon hasn't met the desired conditioning level yet to play on consecutive nights. "We want to make sure he comes back healthy in the right way, Williams said. While Gordon still might be limited in his minutes and appearances in consecutive games, he is averaging 16.9 points per game since his return. That's obviously encouraging for when the Hornets are ready to turn him loose. Gordon is still a viable Fantasy play despite his current restrictions, but it might only be a matter of time before he is back to being an elite option.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon will sit out Wednesday's game at Boston, reports the Boston Globe. Hornets coach Monty Williams is not yet ready to unleash Gordon in back-to-back games despite a report Tuesday that he might be leaning towards letting Gordon return on consecutive days. Gordon played Tuesday for 32 minutes against Philadelphia and scored 19 points with four assists and two 3-pointers.
Analysis: Gordon will soon be back to playing in back-to-back contests but apparently that time has yet to come. He's definitely proven a valuable commodity once again now that he's healthy for the Hornets. Gordon has played in eight games so far and is averaging close to 17 points and four assists per game with a 3-pointer. He can be active in all Fantasy formats, though owners must still deal with him missing back-to-backs for now.
News: New Orleans coach Monty Williams said Tuesday he has not determined if guard Eric Gordon will participated in the team's upcoming back-to-back set. Gordon is expected to start Tuesday against Philadelphia, but his status for Wednesday at Boston remains uncertain as he has yet to play in two straight games since returning from a knee injury Dec. 29. "Hes doing OK, he's getting better," Williams told the New Orleans Times-Picayune after Tuesday's shootaround. "Hes getting into NBA shape and it takes awhile. He didnt have the month of October to go through training camp. So a lot of what he has to do to get in shape is happening in games."
Analysis: Gordon admitted his knee is still not at full strength as he is connecting on just 35.5 percent of his attempts from the field. The 24-year-old sharpshooter posted at least a 44.9 field-goal percentage in each of his first four seasons. "Im just fighting through it right now," Gordon said after Sunday's game against New York. "It is tough pushing off of your right leg all the time. Im trying to get it back to a comfortable feeling. Ive tried not to show any excuses or anything like that." Gordon has already returned to the starting lineup and is hovering around 28-30 minutes of playing time. He is still worth keeping active in most Fantasy formats while he continues working into shape.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon led the Hornets on Sunday afternoon but New York still pulled the home victory. Gordon scored a team-high 22 points on 7 of 14 shooting. He went just 1 of 6 from 3-point range, however. Gordon grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists with two steals over 29 minutes on the floor.
Analysis: Gordon has only played in seven games after getting a late start to the season. He's already been over 20 points twice, however, and the rhythm is slowly coming back to him. Once the shots start falling from beyond the arc, Gordon will officially be back to must-start status. For now, owners can be using him in plenty of Fantasy formats.
News: After scoring 24 points his last time out against San Antonio, Hornets guard Eric Gordon did not fare as well Wednesday night against Houston. Gordon went just 2 of 12 from the field and 0 for 4 from 3-point range to score five points in the contest over 28 minutes. That said, New Orleans still won the game. Gordon dished out six assists and had one rebound for the Hornets.
Analysis: Gordon has been a little erratic as he's only just returned from a knee injury. He'll have some poor games but Monday's contest against the Spurs shows his big-time ability bubbling just under the surface. Gordon should be 100 percent before long and can already be active again in most Fantasy formats.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon got off to a slow start in his first game with the starting lineup Saturday against the Mavericks. Gordon made just one of his first nine shots in regulation, however he made up for that once the game headed to overtime. Gordon scored eight of his 14 points in the overtime period, on 3 of 4 shooting, with a three pointer. He finished the game with 4 of 13 shooting from the field and a 5-for-5 mark from the free-throw line. He added four assists, two rebounds, a steal and two blocks in 35 minutes.
Analysis: Gordon has appeared in three games since returning from a knee injury, and Saturdays was his first with at least 30 minutes played. He is shooting just 32.6 percent from the field, but is still averaging 16.3 points per game on 14.3 field-goal attempts. He has averaged 4.7 assists per game, and already looks like the Hornets best offensive player. He has shown some rust following the big layoff, but the game-changing ability is clearly still there. As Gordons conditioning improves, and he continues to see his minutes increase, Fantasy owners will want to get him back in the starting lineup moving forward.
News: Coach Monty Williams told reporters after Friday's practice session that guard Eric Gordon continues to show that he is "game ready" and he could see a minutes increase in New Orleans' contest against the Mavericks Saturday night. Gordon has seen an average of 24.5 minutes over his first two games and has put up 17.5 points and 5.0 assists over that stretch. "Hes getting more and more game ready,'' Williams told the Times-Picayune. "Its tough to go from not playing at all to jumping right into an NBA game. Today was a good time to watch him in game situations and watch other guys play around him. 'Hes certainly not going to play 40 minutes, but were going to start increase his minutes.''
Analysis: Gordon was held out of New Orleans loss to the Rockets Wednesday night as the team did not deem him ready to play in the second leg of back-to-backs yet. However, the Hornets next back-to-back set isn't until Jan. 15-16 against the 76ers and Celtics, which means Gordon should be able to play in New Orleans next five games -- including Saturday -- barring any setbacks. Still, coach Williams cautioned that the team may still give him a day off during that stretch. "We dont have a back to back game until a week or so at least,'' Williams added. "Well have to cross that bridge.'' The Hornets are scheduled to take on the Rockets, Spurs, Timberwolves and Knicks during Fantasy Week 11 (Jan. 7-13) and have at least one day off between each of those contests. As long as Gordon looks to be healthy, he is worth starting as a high-end option.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the Rockets in an effort to avoid him overworking his knee, according to the team's official website. Gordon, who has averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 assists over his first two games back, is not expected to play in any back-to-back sets. Just being smart with his knee. Thats what the doctors have recommended, coach Monty Williams said. We just have to be careful. We dont have a lot of back-to-backs coming up, so this is the one that we kind of targeted that we wanted to be careful. Hes healthy, but total health means youre in shape and physically able to do the things you know youre capable of doing.
Analysis: This move shouldn't come as much of a surprise, especially considering Gordon's injury history. New Orleans doesn't have any back-to-back sets on the schedule during the upcoming scoring period, so Gordon should be able to play in each of the Hornets next five games. Despite being on a minutes restriction, Gordon has already shown flashes of his high-end potential and is worth starting in all formats when healthy.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon appeared in his first game of the season Saturday against the Bobcats, after missing the first 27 games of the season due to knee and quad injuries. Gordon looked like he had not missed a beat, despite playing in his first game since last April. Gordon came off the bench and scored 24 points in 24 minutes of action, while shooting 5 of 13 from the field. He added a pair of three-pointers and seven assists, while turning the ball over only two times. Gordon attacked the basket relentlessly, going 12 of 14 from the free-throw line as a result. Gordon led the Hornets to a 98-95 victory.
Analysis: We were a bit worried to see how Gordon would play in his first action of the season, but Gordons performance did much to make us feel better about his prospects moving forward. Gordon did not seem to be out of shape or favoring the knee, so it would not be a surprise to see him inserted into the starting lineup shortly. Gordons production might be up and down over the next few games as he gets back into rhythm, but it appears safe to get the offensively-gifted guard back in your Fantasy lineups.
News: The Hornets have activated guard Eric Gordon for Saturday's contest at Charlotte after missing the team's first 29 games. Gordon, who has been rehabbing a knee and quad injury, is expected to see around 25 minutes of game action against the Bobcats, reports the team's official website.
Analysis: Gordon will hit the court for the first time this season Saturday after weeks of speculation and setbacks. Still, he will have his minutes restricted at first, so owners should not be expecting to see the 22 points per game he has averaged over his last three seasons right away. At this point, it is just nice to see him get back on the court. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on how he does in his return. He is worthy of starting in all formats once Gordon proves to be healthy and productive.
News: According to multiple reports, Hornets guard Eric Gordon remains on track to make his season debut Saturday night at Charlotte. Gordon, who has been rehabbing a knee and quad injury, is expected to see around 25 minutes of game action against the Bobats, reports the team's official website.
Analysis: Gordon is expected to make his long-awaited season debut Saturday night after weeks of speculation and setbacks. However, he will be on a minutes restriction at first, so owners should not be expecting to see the 22 points per game he has averaged over his last three seasons right away. Still, at this point it is just nice to see him get back on the court. Owners should keep tabs on how he does in his return. News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Wednesday that Hornets guard Eric Gordon has a chance to make his season debut as soon as this weekend. Hornets coach Monty Williams said that Gordon has made progress with his knee injury, and might be available as early as Saturday against the Bobcats. "If I had to guess it would be Saturday against Charlotte," Williams said before Wednesday nights game against the Orlando Magic. "A lot of that is me, and we want to make sure that we bring him back when hes in a lot better shape. Hes spent so much time rehabbing and getting his quad stronger, but we have to make sure hes in a good place before he comes back." Gordon appeared in just nine games a year ago, has already missed the first 27 games of the season.
Analysis: Gordons impact is badly needed on a Hornets team that has just five wins and a total lack of perimeter penetration ability this season. Gordon can be one of the best scorers in the league, as he has proven by averaging 22.0 points per game when healthy over the last three seasons. Unfortunately, he has missed 110 of a possible 175 games in that span due to knee issues. We will certainly keep an eye on Gordons progress, as he is clearly near returning. After giving him a four-year, max-value contract in the offseason, the Hornets may play it safe with Gordon at first, however he will likely be worth getting active in all Fantasy formats upon his return.
News: After a successful return to practice Monday, Eric Gordon (knee, quad) said he needs to polish his conditioning before he can make his season debut. Gordon, who has not played this season while recovering from a lingering knee injury, reported no setbacks after participating in his first full-contract practice since last October. "I just started running two or three weeks ago, now I have to get back into game shape and really get my timing right," Gordon told the team's official website. "It will come soon."
Analysis: Gordon said last Wednesday he would return to the lineup by the end of December, but that possibility has been ruled out. His return will be certainly welcomed by Hornets coach Monty Williams, whose team is riding an 11-game losing streak. "He looked pretty good attacking the basket and defending in his first practice," Williams said. "It looked pretty encouraging." Fantasy owners should continue to monitor Gordon's status as he hopes to jump back into the lineup before the end of December, though it seems unlikely.
News: New Orleans shooting guard Eric Gordon participated in his first full-contact practice since October on Monday, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon practiced for two hours at the New Orleans Arena without any problems. "I felt pretty good,'' Gordon said after Monday's practice."I was just ready to get out there with the guys. It was full contact and I participated in every thing. Now its just the conditioning part.''
Analysis: Gordon's first practice Monday went well, but he's not going to immediately jump back into game action. Gordon said he hopes to play in one of the final games before the end of the month. He definitely will not play Wednesday against Orlando. His playing time could be limited upon his return, but otherwise all news is good on Gordon's front. He's on the return and owners should just keep stashing him until he's officially back for the Hornets.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon took a long-awaited positive step in his recovery from a knee injury and was cleared to return to full-contact practice next week, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Gordon, who has not played at all this season, participated in a rigorous workout Saturday. "We'll integrate him into practices next week, and then we'll make evaluations and hopefully get him back soon," Hornets general manager Dell Demps said Saturday. "Once he's at a point where we feel he's ready to play an NBA game, then we'll have him play."
Analysis: Demps did not indicate when Gordon would be ready to game action as the team refused to allow him to take part in training camp unless he was pain-free. Persistent injuries have crippled Gordon's career as he has appeared in just nine games of a possible 92 outings since being obtained for the Clippers last year, the Times-Picayune notes. "I think we're really going to take a look at the evaluation next week before we make any decision," Demps said on possibly limiting Gordon's playing time upon his return. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status while keeping him stashed in all formats at this point.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon has still not been cleared for contact, New Orleans coach Monty Williams told reporters prior to Friday's contest against the Spurs. Gordon, who has been rehabilitating his injured right knee in Los Angeles since the beginning of November, is expected to be on New Orleans' bench Saturday night. "What I do know is he reported he feels real good and at this point we want to get him back with our guys for a few days to see where we're at," Williams said. "I think that's where we're headed."
Analysis: Gordon has not played this season after more issues in his problematic right knee emerged. However, he told reporters he plans on playing again by the end of the month and his return to New Orleans seems to back up that claim. Still, Williams said Gordon hasn't even been cleared for contact work yet and is no where close to being in game shape. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status in the coming weeks to see if he will actually get back on the court. In the meantime, leave him stashed and hope for the best.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon will return to his teammates by the beginning of next week, reports the player through his Twitter account Monday. Gordon tweeted Monday that he's undergoing his last week of rehab on his injured knee in Los Angeles and he is excited about getting back with the team afterwards. "I haven't seen him in a couple of weeks, so we'll find out this weekend," coach Monty Williams said.
Analysis: Gordon will be done with rehab in about a week and will then return to the Hornets. That said, he's unlikely to immediately return to action at that time. He'll need to practice and probably still has some way to go. The Hornets need Gordon back desperately, and we expect him to perform at a high level in Fantasy once able to return to action. Continue to stash him until that time.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon, who has yet to play this season due to a knee injury, is hoping to make his season debut sometime in late December, reports FOXSports. Gordon has been rehabbing his knee in Southern California but is also reportedly dealing with some atrophy in his right quadriceps.
Analysis: Atrophy is not uncommon in knee injuries and Gordon remains on track to return sometime toward the end of December. However, this isn't the first time there has been a timetable outlined for his return, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. While Gordon continues to test Fantasy owners patience, he should continue to be stashed for the time being.
News: New Orleans injured guard Eric Gordon said Monday that the pain in his chronic knee injury is subsiding, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. That said, Gordon still has no timetable to return to action for the Hornets.
Analysis: The Hornets' patience continues to wear thin with Gordon's knee troubles but we expect him to get back on the court for the team as soon as he's ready. We expect him to be a big-time contributor once available. Fantasy owners are forced to sit and wait for his return.
News: Hornets coach Monty Williams said Monday that guard Eric Gordon is expected to undergo a rigorous rehab schedule over the next few weeks in order to help him overcome the persistent problems with his right knee. Gordon experienced a setback just prior to last Wednesday's season opener and will be sidelined for an additional four to six weeks. He had already missed all of the team's preseason games. "He is going to be rehabbing for the next few weeks until his quad gets a lot stronger," Williams told The Times-Picayune. "Thats a big deal for him right now getting his quad (muscles) stronger. I think hes going to be under some strict rehab and strengthening for a few weeks."
Analysis: Like Fantasy owners, it appears the Hornets are growing weary of Gordon's never-ending saga regarding his knee injury and are prepared to ramp up his activity. That could either help him return closer to his original target of mid-December or push his availability into next year. Gordon said he began experiencing pain late in the summer which resulted in him missing all of training camp. It helps there is some semblance of a timetable for his return, but Fantasy owners are still forced to sit Gordon for the next month and wait. He's worth reserving as he's shown the ability to be a high-end option when healthy.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon will not undergo surgery on his knee and instead will rehab and work on strengthening in an effort to return to the Hornets within 4-6 weeks, reports ESPN Friday. "Nothing structural," Gordon said of the injury. "There has been a little bit of soreness and swelling. I'm always listening to the doctors and they've told me there is swelling, but obviously I can tell myself that there has been a little bit of swelling. That's why I'm not playing. The past few days I have been practicing because I thought it was something I could deal with pain-wise. I went to the organization the other day and told them that it was not feeling good. It is very painful."
Analysis: There was plenty of talk of surgery surrounding Gordon but he has chosen to rehab and believes he'll be back on the court within 4-6 weeks. That at least is a timetable, though we wouldn't put too much stock in it. All Fantasy owners need to know is that Gordon is once again dealing with knee issues and could once again be sidelined for a while. Keep an eye on his status moving forward and stash him where available. While Gordon has proved to be a high-end option when healthy, it sounds like he is going to be out until at least the middle of December.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon told reporters Thursday that he experienced a setback with his right knee sometime right before training camp. Gordon went on to say that he was told there is some damage in his knee which is causing the pain and he has had to deal with some discomfort and swelling over the past few weeks. "I've had MRIs, and I went to the team and they've always been aware of my injury. I have had MRIs lately, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's happening this weekend to see what's furthermore. ... I will hear what the doctor's thinking this weekend," he told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon says he should miss 4-6 weeks and be able to return sometime after that.
Analysis: This Gordon situation continues to get weirder and weirder as now he apparently has some damage in his knee after telling reporters Wednesday he did not. The 23-year-old has now been ruled out indefinitely but believes he'll be able to return within 4-6 weeks.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon will not make his season debut Wednesday in the teams opener against the Spurs, as coach Monty Williams told reporters during practice that Gordon is out indefinitely with a right knee issue. Williams could not provide any further details on the extent or nature of Gordons issue. "He's going to be out," Williams said. "The way I understand it, he's going to be out indefinitely until we get some more clarity on what's going on so I don't have to answer these questions every day and give you guys the update. We'll just go from there."
Analysis: Gordon has been participating in full-contact workouts just over the last few days, after sitting the entire preseason schedule. Gordon has been bothered by this knee since having to undergo arthroscopic surgery on it last season. He was limited to just nine games last season, but the Hornets still signed him to a four-year, $58 million contract. This looks like something that we are going to have to monitor every day moving forward -- just like last season. Gordon is a high-end Fantasy option when he plays, but that has become increasingly rare over the last year-plus. Fantasy owners should get him out of the lineup in daily formats until he is ready to return.
News: After aggressively testing his knee in practice the past three days, Hornets guard Eric Gordon said Tuesday "there are no guarantees" he will be able to play in Wednesday's season opener against San Antonio. Gordon said he is still not pain-free after having his right knee cleaned out by arthroscopic surgery last February. "I'm just trying to do the best I can every day," Gordon told The Times-Picayune. "It has been feeling better throughout the process of a few weeks. It's just really tough right now to really say right now that I'm guaranteed to play."
Analysis: Gordon, who was limited to just nine games last season, said he would make the final determination on his playing status after warmups Wednesday. Coach Monty Williams indicated he would put Gordon into the starting lineup as long as he's ready. "It's just seeing how much I can handle. This is the start of the season. And it's going to be a long one," Gordon said. "Probably when I get back playing, definitely there's going to be limited minutes whenever I get back. But it's all about me just getting better and rehabbing." Fantasy owners should monitor his status prior to the opener as he could suit up for most of Week 1 (Oct. 30-Nov. 4), barring any setbacks.
News: The uncertainty surrounding Hornets guard Eric Gordon (knee) during the preseason is expected to creep into the regular season as his status for Wednesday's opener against San Antonio still has not been determined. Gordon missed all eight exhibition games, but was able to return to practice without limitations Sunday for the first time since training camp opened. "Ive been doing contact a little bit, participating fully," Gordon told The Times-Picayune. "Ive been doing whatever the team is doing. Im just trying to keep progressing. Im rehabbing but Im doing a lot more activity with the team. "Well see what they got planned for me to do. Whether it's limited minutes, playing or maybe wait a while. We dont know for sure."
Analysis: Gordon said he no longer feels pain in his right knee after experiencing soreness in the area during offseason workouts. Its the same knee that required surgery and forced the standout guard to miss all but nine games last season. "The biggest deal for Eric right now is comfort and making sure he feels comfortable on the floor," coach Monty Williams said. "But he looks strong at practice." When healthy, Gordon is clearly one of the best shooters in the NBA and averages 18.2 points per game during his career on a 45.2 percent clip from the field. Fantasy owners should monitor his status prior to the opener as he could suit up for most of Week 1 (Oct. 30-Nov. 4), barring any setbacks.
News: Hornets coach Monty Williams indicated Sunday that guard Eric Gordon could miss the team's final three preseason games due to his minimal conditioning caused by a lingering knee soreness, The Times-Picayune reports. "(It) is not ideal, but it is the situation that we have," Williams said. "Eric got to get his condition up; thats what hes working on now. But hes doing more and more everyday. Hes doing a lot more drill work with the team and hes in all the huddles. Hes more engaged each day."
Analysis: Gordon missed all of training camp with a sore right knee, an setback he suffered during offseason workouts. The issue is to the same knee that Gordon had surgery on last February after he managed just nine games during the season. "I never been injured in the offseason and its almost like a minor setback as far as being around the team and for myself to really try to be in shape before season starts," he said. With the regular season rapidly approaching, there is still ample concern surrounding Gordon's health. Fantasy owners should follow his status, but his setback should cause him to tumble out of the fourth round in the majority of Fantasy drafts.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon plans to test his sore right knee out in the coming days, before the team makes a decision on his availability for any upcoming preseason games. The Hornets next preseason game is Thursday against the Hawks, but it does not look like Gordon is going to be ready to play by then. "Eric has to get in the kind of game shape that we need him before we put him out there on the floor, coach Monty Williams told the New Orleans Times-Picayune Saturday."We certainly want him to be close. But Ive got to talk to the doctors and make sure that hes well.
Analysis: Gordons 2011-12 season was basically lost as a result of knee issues, as he was limited to just nine games. Hopefully he can get healthy before the preseason ends, as the Hornets are paying him a max contract this season in the hopes that he can be their franchise player. Plenty of Fantasy owners are also relying on his availability this season, as he is going 52nd overall on average in CBSSports.com Fantasy leagues. There are still a few weeks until the regular season begins and the games count, so Fantasy owners should rest easy -- for now. If Gordon is unable to play in any preseason games, there will be plenty of time for worrying. For now, continue to target him in the early rounds on Draft Day, and consider him a must-start Fantasy option in all formats when the season begins.
News: The Hornets announced Monday that guard Eric Gordon would be limited during the early portion of training camp due to soreness in his right knee. Gordon, who was limited to just nine games last season due to his knee and back issues, is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. The Hornets open things up at home against the Spurs on Oct. 31.
Analysis: Here we go again as Gordon is already dealing with knee issues and training camp hasn't even officially started yet. However, it is way to early to tell if this is more of a precautionary move or if there is real cause for concern. Gordon has been dealing with his balky right knee for some time now, but it is hard to believe New Orleans would have matched Phoenix's max-offer sheet if his knee did not check out. The Hornets were planning on Gordon being the focal point of offense for their re-vamped roster, so hopefully he can get himself ready to play by the time the end of October rolls around. He most likely won't see much action in the preseason, so Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his status moving forward. Gordon can drop 20-plus points on a nightly basis when healthy, but his career has been sidetracked by injuries thus far. Still, he can't be considered a top 15 guard in most formats and would be worth targeting with an early-round pick if he proves to be healthy.
News: Despite his public protestations, the Hornets decided to match restricted free-agent guard Eric Gordon's offer sheet from the Suns, ensuring that he will remain in New Orleans. The contract is worth $58 million total over four years.
Analysis: Gordon spent much of the free-agency period publicly proclaiming that he did not want the Hornets to match the contract, however that never seemed likely, given Gordon's importance to the franchise. Gordon appeared in just nine games last season while dealing with a troublesome knee injury, however he is expected to be 100 percent healthy by the time the season rolls around, which is good news for a newly-retooled Hornets roster that will feature him heavily. Gordon has proven he can scored 20 points per night; now he just has to prove he can stay healthy. Despite the injury concerns, Gordon should be one of the 15 most valuable guards in Fantasy next season, and should be targeted after the first few rounds are over on Draft Day.
News: With the Hornets playing a back to back set on Wednesday and Thursday, coach Monty Williams has elected to give guard Eric Gordon a night off for the second game in a row, as he continues to deal with back and knee issues that have cost him time this season. He is expected to play on Thursday against the Rockets.
Analysis: Unsurprisingly, Gordon has now missed one half of each of the team's last two back to back sets, as he has missed much of the season and is not in the best of shape. New Orleans will be cautious with Gordon moving forward, however they have been up front about his rest, which makes it easy for Fantasy owners in daily leagues to keep track. Gordon's production when he has been on the court makes him worth starting in all formats, even he does sit out a few games
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was held out of Monday night's contest against the Bobcats for precautionary rest, according to the team's official website. Gordon is averaging 20.1 points and 3.0 assists in seven games this season.
Analysis: With the Hornets playing in a second game of a back-to-back, Gordon was given a day off on Monday, He should be able to get right back in the lineup for Wednesday night's contest the Grizzlies, although this likely won't be the last time he will be held out the lineup. New Orleans will be cautious with Gordon moving forward, which is something Fantasy owners will have to consider before setting lineups for Week 17 (April 16-26). However, Gordon's production when he has been on the court makes him worth starting in all formats, even he does sit out a few games
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon was able to get back on the court for Friday night's contest against the Jazz. Gordon, who missed the previous two games due to a back injury, finished with 25 points in the 96-85 win, on 11 of 18 shooting from the field. He went 2 for 5 from downtown and also added six assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 37 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Gordon was finally able to get himself back on the court Friday night and did seem to show any ill-effects from his back injury. The 23-year-old has been producing as expected when he has been in the lineup this season, but he has only appeared in six games thus far due to injuries. However, he seems to be healthy now, which is going to be a big boost for Fantasy owners heading into Week 17 (April 16-26). As long as he is on the court, owners can consider Gordon a high-end option across the board.
News: Just prior to gametime on Wednesday against the Kings, the Hornets announced that guard Eric Gordon would miss his second game with a back injury. He has been participating in some drills in practice, however he has yet to return to full contact. When asked if he knew when Gordon would return, Hornets coach Monty Williams told the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Its the back, and its hard to diagnose. Hes dealing with a muscle strain and some other stuff with his hips. Its just one of those things.
Analysis: Gordon missed 51 games earlier in what has been an incredibly trying season for the fourth-year pro. Fantasy owners should be pleased that he returned to practice on Tuesday, however they will still need to wait for him to get back on the floor in a game. It is unfortunate that, because of the nature of the injury, the team has been unable to provide a timeline for his return. He remains a high-end Fantasy option when he plays, however there is still the question of when he will be healthy.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon (back) was able to participate in some light practice drills on Tuesday, leaving his status as questionable heading into Wednesday night's game against the Kings, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon, who was held out of Monday's loss to the Lakers with lower back tightness, was played in just three games since sitting out 51 contests with a right knee contusion.
Analysis: Gordon just can't seem to keep himself healthy this season, which has been very frustrating for Fantasy owners. If there is any good news here, it is the fact that Gordon really wants to play in as many games as he can before the season ends, which is the opposite of how most players feel at this time of the year. Keep an eye on his status moving forward. Gordon can be considered a high-end option in all formats when healthy.
News: Just three games after his return from a knee injury that cost him much of the season, Hornets guard Eric Gordon is back to missing time, as he missed Monday's game against the Lakers with a back injury. Gordon tweaked the back on Saturday, and it simply has not gotten better.
Analysis: Gordon had played 30 minutes in two of his three games back and looked good doing so, but now it looks like Fantasy owners will once again have to keep an eye on his status. The Hornets are going to take Gordon's status on a day by day basis, which will mean Fantasy owners will need to keep a close eye on this as it progresses. Consider him a high-end option when healthy, however this issue may linger.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon continues to be bothered by a sore lower back. Gordon briefly left Saturday night's contest against the Timberwolves with his injury in the first quarter, but did return after halftime. He finished with 10 points on 3 of 12 shooting from the field in the 99-90 win and also added three rebounds and one assist to his stat line, while logging 25 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Gordon had logged 30-plus minutes in each of his previous two games since returning from a knee injury, but appeared to pay the price for it on Saturday. The 23-year-old's back tightened up on him against Minnesota and seemed to really affect his performance. Fantasy owner should keep an eye on his status heading into Week 16 (April 9-15). Coach Monty Williams may try and limit Gordon's minutes during the upcoming scoring period, so owners should keep that in mind before setting lineups this week.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon, who had played in just two games all season due to a knee injury, finally returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday in a win over Denver. Gordon wasn't at his best with his shot as he went 3 of 11 from the field over 34 minutes for 15 points. Still, he managed to tie for the team lead in scoring in a victory for the Hornets and he hit two 3-pointers with four rebounds, four assists and a steal in the performance.
Analysis: Gordon will need a few games to get his legs under him and for his shot to start falling, but it appears that will happen sooner rather than later. Gordon was active on Wednesday and Fantasy owners can now put him back in active lineups if they so choose.
News: The Hornets report Wednesday that guard Eric Gordon will return to action Wednesday night against Denver. Coach Monty Williams said Gordon, who has played just two games this season due to a knee injury, will start and play between 25-30 minutes against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should keep an eye on Gordon, and hopefully he can play at 100 percent without any setbacks. Gordon should return as a must-start Fantasy option when healthy, but let him go out and prove himself first before making him active in the majority of leagues.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon (knee) said Tuesday that he will play in Wednesday's game against Denver, according to the team's official website. It is unclear if he will start the matchup as he has been hampered for most of the season with a knee injury. "I'm looking forward to playing [Wednesday]," said Gordon, who has been limited to just two games. "I practiced today, and feel fine. I'm ready to move forward into playing." Coach Monty Williams was less optimistic, however, saying that he wants to see how he feels Wednesday before making any decision.
Analysis: A day after Williams said Gordon's status was uncertain, the standout guard proclaimed himself fit to play and will look to make an impact during the team's final 13 games of the regular season. "I'm definitely going to have a lot to prove," he said. "Winning is going to be the number one key to that." Gordon has been a solid scorer in his four-year career and averaged 21.0 points per game before the injury. He will likely need some time to regain his legs in game action, but could give Fantasy owners a late boost during the playoffs.
News: New Orleans coach Monty Williams said Sunday that guard Eric Gordon (knee) might not be able to return for Wednesday's game against Denver, NBA.com reports. Gordon was targeting Wednesday for his long-awaited return to action since suffering a knee injury against Philadelphia on Jan. 4. He has not played since.
Analysis: The Hornets seemed optimistic, albeit cautiously optimistic, that Gordon would be able to return, but that now seems unlikely. The 23-year-old, who was the main return for New Orleans in the Chris Paul deal, has played in just two games this season. With the Hornets clearly out of playoff contention, the team will not rush him back and risk further injury. Fantasy owners should likely reserve him again in Week 15 (April 2-8).
News: The Hornets are on a five-game road trip currently, and ESPN.com is reporting that guard Eric Gordon could make his return to the floor from a knee injury when the team returns home, on April 4 against the Nuggets. He has been increasing his activity in practice daily, according to reports, so it looks like his return is imminent.
Analysis: It has been speculated that Gordon could return for Wednesday's game, however this is the first concrete information we have seen. Gordon has missed all but two games this season, so it would be a nice surprise for Fantasy owners to get him back for the last few weeks of the season. Continue to monitor his progress to see when he may return.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon continues to sit out due to his knee injury and will not be in action on Wednesday at Golden State, reports the team's official site. Gordon is increasing his activity in practice and could return "in a matter of days."
Analysis: Gordon is going to likely have to wait until the Hornets return home, at least, to get back on the court. That happens next Wednesday against the Nuggets and might be a good target date for Gordon. Gordon could help Fantasy owners in some playoff leagues if he returns soon, but he has mostly been lost to owners this season already.
News: Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon, who had surgery last month to remove debris from his right knee, is expected to begin practicing next week, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune Monday. Gordon wants to return before the season is out. "I look forward to trying to get back," said Gordon, who will become a restricted free agent this upcoming July.
Analysis: Gordon hopes to return before the end of the season but we're not sure how realistic that is. Plus, even if he does return, he's sure to be rusty and may not be a huge help to Fantasy owners immediately. Still, owners can continue to hold out hope that he becomes relevant again before the end of the year. When healthy and right, Gordon is certainly a viable Fantasy option in any format.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets guard Eric Gordon admitted to having cartilage damage in his latest knee injury. New Orleans had failed to give any details about the injury and Gordon cleared the air on Tuesday. Gordon should be out until at least early April at this point and his season is definitely in jeopardy.
Analysis: Gordon's first season with the Hornets has certainly been one to forget. Gordon, the key return in the Chris Paul deal with the Clippers, might not return to the court until April -- if at all this season. The 23-year-old netted a combined 42 points in his only two games and proved he remains a strong scorer, when he's healthy. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in most formats, but he could likely be cut if you need roster space.
News: New Orleans G Eric Gordon had successful arthroscopic surgery on his ailing right knee, the team announced Tuesday. As expected, he will be sidelined for six weeks. Gordon sustained the injury during the first quarter of the Hornets' season-opener, but still managed 39 minutes. However, he missed the next four games before returning and logging another 39 minutes against Philadelphia -- his only two outings of the year. From the information I was given, the surgery was a success," New Orleans coach Monty Williams said. "Obviously they felt like they had to clean it out to make sure everything is headed in the right direction."
Analysis: Gordon's first season with the Hornets has certainly been one to forget. Gordon, the key return in the Chris Paul deal with the Clippers, might not return to the court until April -- if at all this season. Eric is dying to get back on the floor, Williams said. Because of where he is in his career, being young and the future of our franchise, Im pretty sure were being a ton more cautious than we would if ... this were three or four weeks before the playoffs." The 23-year-old netted a combined 42 points in his only two games and proved he remains a strong scorer, when he's healthy. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in most formats, but he could likely be cut if you need roster space.
News: The Hornets announced on Monday that G Eric Gordon will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday. He is expected to return to play in six weeks. "Surgery is in the best interest of Eric," general manger Dell Demps said. "We had hoped with rest and rehab, Eric's knee would have healed." Gordon has played in just two games this season due to the injury.
Analysis: Gordon, who was the key piece in the Chris Paul deal, scored a combined 42 points in the two games he has played but this announcement means that he will not return to the court anytime soon, if at all this season. The 23-year-old was expected to return later this month but much to the chagrin of Fantasy owners, they will have to continue to wait for his services. Keep Gordon stashed away in Fantasy, but owners in larger formats could not be blamed for cutting ties with him.
News: New Orleans coach Monty Williams told ESPN.com on Monday that there is nothing new to report on the status of injured guard Eric Gordon. Gordon remains out with a knee injury. Williams had said Gordon was at least a week away almost a week ago now. Gordon remains out indefinitely for the Hornets.
Analysis: The Hornets are going to continue exercising extreme caution with Gordon's situation. The team is unlikely to vie for the playoffs this season and certainly doesn't want to leverage the team's future by bringing Gordon back too soon. That is not good news for Fantasy owners as he is doing nobody any good on the shelf. Gordon sounds like he'll be out until at least late February, if not longer, so owners will have to keep him grounded in all leagues and formats.
News: New Orleans SG Eric Gordon remains at least a week from returning to action for the Hornets, according to coach Monty Williams on Tuesday, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. In fact, Williams said Gordon remains at least a week away from resuming strenuous workouts.
Greivis Vasquez has really come on in Gordon's stead of late.
News: Multiple sources report Hornets guard Eric Gordon will miss 3-6 more weeks recovering from what the team has called a knee contusion.
Analysis: This is definitely devastating news for Fantasy owners, who have been without Gordon since early January. You know Gordon wants to be on the court as well since he is headed for restricted free agency after the season since he couldn't agree to a contract extension by Wednesday's deadline. Gordon is a must-start Fantasy option when healthy, but continue to keep him stashed on your bench.
News:The Times-Picayune reports league sources confirmed that the Hornets are in negotiation with guard Eric Gordon about a four-year contract extension. Hornets president Hugh Weber and general manager Dell Demps have been given authorization by the NBA, who own the Hornets, to consummate a deal. If they don't get a deal done before Wednesday's 11:59 p.m. deadline, then Gordon will become a restricted free agent after the season.
Analysis: Gordon has played in just two games this season because of a bruised right knee, but in those two games he averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. The Hornets made Gordon a key piece in the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers, so getting him locked up is important. Gordon isn't expected back until February, so continue to keep the high-end Fantasy guard reserved.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon told Yahoo Sports! that New Orleans' team doctor said his injured knee is structurally sound and he can start participating in basketball activities in three weeks. Gordon has missed the Hornets' last 11 games with a bruised right knee. "The doctor said my knee will be 100 percent sound with rest," Gordon said.
Analysis: Gordon got some good news on Monday as he is trying to get back on the court as soon as possible. However, that likely won't happen until at least February -- barring any setbacks -- so Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his status moving forward. Gordon was averaging 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game before the injury and remains a must-start Fantasy option when healthy.
News: New Orleans coach Monty Williams said Monday that the team continues to monitor the status of G Eric Gordon and will perform additional tests on his ailing knee, according to the Hornets' official website. Gordon has missed 10 consecutive games with a bruised right knee and there is no timetable for his return. "Hes getting more testing because he is such a young player and hes such an important part of our future," Williams said. "We dont want to gamble on something and come up wrong later."
Analysis: Williams said the results of the tests might not be revealed until later this week as New Orleans continues to exercise caution with its star guard. "Were finding out some stuff," he said. "Hes still getting more testing done to make sure the diagnosis is correct. We wont have any more information until probably Thursday or Friday." Gordon was averaging 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game before the injury and remains a must-start Fantasy option when healthy. For now, he should be reserved for Fantasy Week 5 (Jan. 23-29).
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon missed his 10th straight game Saturday against Dallas because of a bruised right knee and coach Monty Williams said it's still uncertain about when Gordon might return. I know some things that I would love to tell you guys that I do know, but Ive got to hold on to it for another day or two, Williams said, as reported by The Times-Picayune. They are still running tests; well know more Monday or Tuesday."
Analysis: It might not be too much longer before we know a potential timetable for Gordon's return. We just hope it's good news come early this week instead of bad news. Don't plan on activating Gordon for Fantasy Week 5 (Jan. 23-29) at this time. He is clearly a viable Fantasy play when active.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon said Monday that he expects to be sidelined for the entire two- to three-week rest period for his ailing knee, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon was sidelined beginning on Jan. 6 after missing four of the team's first six games of the season. "The knee is feeling fine; its only been a week and a half. Its hard to determine right now," Gordon told the newspaper. "Were for sure going to do the two to three (weeks) and see how it works from there. Nothing has changed."
Analysis: Gordon has yet to be cleared for contact drills in practice as he continues to rest. "Im not doing none of that right now," he said. "Were just trying to make sure we heal it up as much as we can at this point." Despite playing just two games this season, Gordon remains the team's leading scorer at 21 points a night. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in all formats and consider him a must-start when healthy.
News: Hornets guard Eric Gordon returned to the team on Monday after the death of someone in his family. Gordon, however, continues to be out with a sore right knee. Gordon injured his knee in early January and isn't expected to return for another week or so.
Analysis: Gordon has managed only two games this season as knee troubles have plagued him since arriving in a trade from the Clippers. Gordon should be the team's main scoring threat once he can return. Gordon needs to finish the season strong and healthy as he is a restricted free agent in the summer. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in all formats while he's sidelined and consider him a must-start option once he returns.
News: New Orleans G Eric Gordon will miss two to three weeks of playing time because of a knee injury, the team announced Friday. Gordon experienced swelling in his knee following Wednesday's loss to Philadelphia -- his first game back from a bruised knee -- and will follow the advice of doctors to sit. He had missed three games with the issue before scoring 22 points against the 76ers and didn't seem to favor the knee. Hornets G Marco Belinelli is expected to start in Gordon's place until Xavier Henry recovers from an ankle injury.
Analysis: Gordon has managed only two games this season as knee troubles have plagued him since arriving in a trade from the Clippers. His injury is a tough loss for New Orleans as he is clearly the team's main scoring threat with 21 points per game. The Hornets' next top scorer is G Jarrett Jack (17.0 ppg). Gordon needs to finish the season strong and healthy as he is a restricted free agent in the summer. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved in all formats while he's sidelined and consider him a must-start option once he returns.
News: New Orleans guard Eric Gordon was back in action on Wednesday versus Philadelphia. Gordon had missed three games with a bruised knee but returned to score a team-high 22 points in the loss to the 76ers. Gordon shot poorly at 8 for 22 from the field, as he also went just 1 of 6 from deep in his return over 39 minutes. Gordon added six rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the game.
Analysis: Gordon is the Hornets' main scoring threat and immediately proved that on Wednesday in the loss to the 76ers. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on that injured knee as it could come back to bother him down the line at some point. Otherwise, Gordon is a must-start Fantasy guard who can be back in action in all Fantasy leagues right now.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon (knee) said Tuesday he might be able to return for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Gordon has missed the past three games with a bruised knee. "Its feeling a lot better," Gordon said. "I was trying to get my wind up, stay in shape, trying to get ready for some time this week. Im just getting (back) into things."
Analysis: The Hornets were hoping Gordon would be back on the court by now, but will not rush him as he is arguably the team's best scoring threat. Gordon participated in pregame workouts last Monday, his first contact drills since providing the game-winner during New Orleans' season opener. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status as he remains a must-start option in all formats when he's on the court.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon missed Monday night's game against the Jazz due to the knee injury he suffered in the team's opener against the Suns. Gordon, who has now missed four straight games with his injury, is hoping to be able and play in Wednesday's game against the 76ers. "That's a good possibility," Gordon said.
Analysis: Gordon has not been able to get back on the court since last Monday, but there he is hoping to make his return on Wednesday. Fantasy owners should obviously keep an eye on his status moving forward to make sure that happens. Gordon can be considered a high-end Fantasy G in all formats, when healthy.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon missed his third consecutive game on Sunday with a bruised knee, as the Hornets took on the Kings. With a back-to-back on the slate for them, the Hornets are likely planning on sitting him in both games, which includes Monday at Utah.
Analysis: Gordon was the main attraction in the trade that sent Chris Paul from New Orleans to Los Angeles, and the Hornets rightly consider him a franchise building block. Because of this, they are going to be very careful with him and make sure that he doesn't come back before he's ready. It's frustrating for Fantasy owners, who view Godron as a high-end guard option when healthy, but it doesn't look like he's going to return until Wednesday against Philadelphia at the earliest.
News: Hornets SG Eric Gordon (bruised knee) has not been ruled out, but is highly doubtful to play in each of the next two games for New Orleans, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune Saturday. Those games are Sunday at Sacramento and Monday at Utah. "We've got to see how he responds to this flight," said coach Monty Williams. "I think we're looking at him coming back probably mid next week."
Analysis: Fantasy owners should have Gordon benched in all formats until he can prove ready to return to the lineup. There is no structural damage to the knee, but the Hornets are trying to be careful with the fourth-year guard who has missed 46 games over the last two seasons. The injury doesn't appear too serious, but it is costing him a handful of games in the early going. He is day-to-day with the injury, but consider him a top-notch Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon will miss Fridays game against the Suns as his bruised right knee is still stiff and swollen, according to a report in the New Orleans Times Picayune. He said he hopes to be ready after that, as the Hornets play the Kings on Sunday in Sacramento.
Analysis: There is no structural damage to the knee, but the Hornets are trying to be careful with the fourth-year guard who has missed 46 games over the last two seasons. The injury doesn't appear too serious, but it is costing him a handful of games in the early going. He is day-to-day with the injury, but consider him a top-notch Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon, who missed Wednesday nights win over Boston with a bruised knee, is unlikely to play on Friday against Phoenix, according to the Times-Picayune. Hornets coach Monty Williams told the paper he does not expect Gordon to be ready to return by then.
News: Hornets G Eric Gordon, who hit a game-winning shot in the season-opening win over Phoenix, will miss Wednesday night's game against the Boston Celtics because of a bruised right knee. Gordon bumped knees with Phoenix F Grant Hill late in Monday's 85-84 win. The knee swellled on the Hornets' long plane ride home Monday night.
Analysis: The Hornets do get Jarrett Jack back for the game, but they likely won't have their full backcourt together until Friday against Phoenix at the earliest. In daily leagues, get Gordon out of the lineup. The injury was not serious enough to keep him out of shoot around on Wednesday morning, but the team doctor's decided he should rest for the game. The injury doesn't appear too serious, and this is likely cautionary in nature. He is day-to-day with the injury, but consider him a top-notch Fantasy option when healthy.
News: New Orleans G Eric Gordon tallied a team-high 20 points and four rebounds in his first game with the Hornets in a 85-84 victory over Phoenix on Monday night. The high-scoring guard sank a 20-footer from the top of the key with 4.2 seconds to play to seal the victory for the Hornets. "All that stuff that we've been through with a lot of changes during the offseason," Gordon said, "I just wanted this game really bad."
Analysis: Gordon, who came to New Orleans in the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers, gave his team its only lead since the first two minutes of the second half with his last bucket. The Hornets were without G Jarrett Jack, who will replace Paul in the starting lineup so Gordon was also relied on spread the ball around and he finished with three assists. Gordon will likely be the leading scorer for New Orleans most of the season and should be viewed as a top-notch Fantasy option in all formats.
News: Recently acquired Hornets G Eric Gordon scored 17 points on 12 shots in the preseason finale against the Grizzlies. He added four assists and four rebounds while going three of five from long range. He played in 28 minutes and looks like he is ready for the season opener against Phoenix next Monday.
Analysis: The Hornets are sure to ask a lot of their new star, and Gordon is a versatile enough player to handle the load. The only concern about him is durability, as he has missed 46 games over the last two seasons. Hes going to be the No. 1 offensive option for the Hornets as he was in the preseason game, but there is a serious lack of elite-level talent around him, which could cause his efficiency to take a hit somewhat. Consider Gordon an early-round selection on Draft Day in his new surroundings.
News: ESPN.com reports and CBSSports.com senior writer Ken Berger confirms that the New Orleans Hornets have agreed yet again to send Chris Paul to Los Angeles, this time to the Clippers in a deal that would net them former top-10 picks G Eric Gordon and F Al-Farouq Aminu, plus C Chris Kaman and the Timberwolves unprotected first-round draft pick in the 2012 Draft. The deal has been sent to the league office for approval, and unlike last weeks deal with the Lakers that was blocked by commissioner David Stern, this one is expected to go through with no problems.
Analysis: Gordon emerged as a top-notch shooting guard in 2010-11, thriving next to NBA Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin. Gordon was the Clippers' primary ball-handler and playmaker, and will likely remain so in New Orleans, a team that is likely going to be in dire need of offensive firepower. The Hornets are going to ask a lot of their new star, and Gordon is a versatile enough player to handle the load. The only concern about him is durability, as he has missed 46 games over the last two seasons. Hes going to be the No. 1 offensive option for the Hornets, but there is a serious lack of elite-level talent around him, which could cause his efficiency to take a hit somewhat. Consider Gordon an early-round selection on Draft Day in his new surroundings.
News: Clippers G Eric Gordon, who emerged as one of the NBA's top shooting guards during an injury-shortened third season, has reportedly been offered to the Hornets as part of a package to get G Chris Paul. CBSSports.com's Ken Berger has reported that, along with restricted free agent DeAndre Jordan and other pieces, Gordon has been offered to the Hornets for the star point guard. The long-struggling Clippers are trying to take advantage of a unique opportunity to jump to the league's next level, as F Blake Griffin took the league by storm in winning Rookie of the Year in 2010-11.
Analysis: Gordon really took a big step up in his third season from a production standpoint, though his health was a concern yet again. He developed into a deadly pick and roll partner with Griffin, and increased his points scored and assist numbers without his shooting efficiency taking a hit. Griffin would appear to be the best possible teammate for Gordon's development, as the two could continue to blossom together and expand on the chemistry they developed in their first year together. This trade could have massive ramifications for Gordon's value, as he would be the clear No. 1 offensive option in New Orleans, but would be lacking in elite level teammates to help carry the load. He should be viewed as an early round selection on Draft Day, but his value would almost certainly take a hit if he found himself moved. Keep an eye on the situation, as the Hornets reportedly would like to have a decision made by the start of training camp on Friday.
News: According to ESPN.com, the Clippers hope to sign guard Eric Gordon to a contract extension. While there was previously some uncertainty over whether Gordon would sign a long-term extension with the team after it lost 116 games his first two seasons, a source close to the situation said that much of that uncertainty has been allayed after the Clippers traded guard Baron Davis to the Cavaliers in February. Gordon made little secret of his feelings about Davis, the oft-injured point guard whose work ethic and inconsistent play hamstrung the franchise for two seasons before he enjoyed a resurgence in the 2010-11 season. This past season, the Clippers made a noticeable effort to put the ball into Gordon's hands more often, letting the offense flow through him and Blake Griffin. He averaged a career-high 22.3 points in 56 games before a wrist injury derailed the final few months of his season. Gordon is under contract for $3.8 million in 2011-12. Under the terms of the current CBA, the team would be able extend him a qualifying offer of $5.1 million before June 30, 2012 and make him a restricted free agent. If he hasn't signed an extension before that time, Gordon could accept the qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2013.
Analysis: Gordon led the Clippers in scoring and has great value for Fantasy owners. As long as he's healthy, Gordon should be viewed as an early-round selection on Draft Day this fall.
News: In his third year in the NBA Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon had a breakout season. He averaged a career-high 22.3 points, 4.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. His only downfall this season was only playing in 56 games. Gordon missed two games with a deep bone bruise in his left shoulder, dealt with a minor lower back issue and sustained a bone chip fracture in his right wrist in March, the same wrist he injured in January. He missed the entire month of February and saw just eight games in March when he was able to return from his injury. He told the Los Angeles Times that this break will give his wrist time to heal and added that it is still painful. If it continues to bother him in a month or so he said he would consider his option. "I doubt if they do anything this summer. It puts everything on hold. It's going to be something different to go through," Gordon said, referring to a possible NBA lockout. "You've just got to wait and see. There might be one and might not. Everybody thinks there's a chance there will be." Gordon was a big part of the Clippers' success this year (despite only winning 32 games) as he teamed up with forward Blake Griffin. The duo is the core of the team as the Clippers try to build a contender.
Analysis: Under the current collective bargaining agreement, Gordon will be a restricted free agent after the 2011-12 season. The Clippers will want to re-sign Gordon, keeping him teamed up with Griffin for years to come. With him playing for a big-time contract, Gordon will try to build off his career season. Fantasy owners would have loved for him to stay healthy last year, but that is one thing no one can control. Gordon led the Clippers in scoring and a great value for owners. As long as he's healthy, Gordon should be viewed as an early- to mid-round selection on Draft Day this fall.
News: Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon was back on the court for the Clippers on Saturday against Cleveland and made his presence felt. He missed the past six games with a wrist injury, but wasn't slowed down by it as he scored 29 points in 41 minutes of action. "I really tried to play with no restrictions," Gordon said. "I tried not to pay attention to it. If it gets knocked or banged, or if I land on the floor wrong like I did the other two times, it is what it is. But I've just got to keep on going out there and playing." He threw up 20 shots, connecting on nine of them, and made all five of his foul shots. Gordon did most of his damage from beyond the 3-point arc as he converted 6 of his 10 attempts from deep. He chipped in one rebound and five assists for the Clippers. Los Angeles would go on to win the game, 100-92.
Analysis: Gordon has missed time this year because of this wrist for a few different stints. When he's healthy, he is one of the best in the business. Owners have to be happy to get him back for the playoffs. Gordon is the leading scorer for the Clippers, averaging 23.7 points, 4.4 assists and 3.0 boards per contest. Fantasy owners should get him active heading into next week.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Clippers guard Eric Gordon (wrist) should be good to go for Saturday's game against Cleveland. He has missed the past six games heading into the matchup with the Cavs.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should still use caution with Gordon in case he suffers a setback prior to Saturday. But looking ahead to Fantasy Week 22 when the Clippers have three games we expect Gordon to be ready to play, and he's a quality Fantasy option in all formats when healthy.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Clippers guard Eric Gordon (wrist) could return to the court Saturday against Cleveland -- in a matchup with former teammate Baron Davis. He reinjured his problematic right wrist when he fell on it in the second quarter against Denver on March 5. That has kept him out for the last six games. Gordon has been doing more and more each day and should be able to fit in a couple of practices before Saturday. "Range of motion has always been pretty good," he said of the wrist. "It's just the pain level because I hit directly on it. It's just the pain level where I can get back to shooting. I'm still going to play with a brace on my finger the rest of the year. I'd say it's very minor now. It was nothing like last time. Last time there was a lot of swelling."Go
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution with Gordon even if he does return Saturday against Davis and the Cavs. We hope he's back at 100 percent, and the Clippers have three games in Fantasy Week 22. If Gordon plays Saturday then he should be given the green light for the next scoring period as a quality starting option.
News: Clippers G Eric Gordon (wrist) did some dribbling and shooting on Tuesday at the team's practice facility. He is improving but said that he wants to get in at least a couple of complete practices before testing his injured right wrist in a game. "I haven't really set a timetable but I know it will be soon," he said. "I'm just trying to figure out when I have a good comfort level and when I'll be able to play. After that, I should be pretty sure and see how it goes from there."
Analysis: Gordon is still likely at least another couple of games away, but it does seem he could be an option for Fantasy Week 22 (March 21-27). Continue to monitor his progress. When healthy, he still has the ability to be a plus scoring option for Fantasy owners, but has already suffered two wrist injuries. Any setback could mean the end of his season at this stage. Randy Foye continue to put up solid numbers in his absence.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon (wrist) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Sixers, reports the Los Angeles Times. Gordon has missed five straight games since re-aggravating his wrist against the Nuggets back on March 5.
Analysis: Gordon says his wrist is improving, although there has been no concrete timetable announced for his return. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward to see when he can get back on the court. Gordon can be considered a high-end Fantasy option in all formats, when healthy.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said injured guard Eric Gordon (wrist) will be evaluated once the team returns from its current road trip on Tuesday. He has not played in five straight games with the issue.
Analysis: The report went on to say it seems like Gordon is doing more and more each day, so Fantasy owners should again anticipate a return for the banged-up scorer sooner than later. The first game after the road trip is Wednesday against the Sixers. When healthy, Gordon is a dynamic scorer who warrants high-end Fantasy status in all formats. He re-injured the wrist after returning two games before for a similar issue that caused him to miss 18 games.
News: Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro is "optimistic" top scorer Eric Gordon will return this season after he aggravated a right wrist injury over the weekend that will keep him out indefinitely. Del Negro said before Monday's game against Charlotte to open an East Coast swing that Gordon will likely remain in Los Angeles for the duration of the five-game trip. Del Negro says how soon he'll return will depend on how he responds to therapy. Let's just see how he responds to the therapy," Del Negro said. "It's his shooting hand, so it might make it a little more difficult. But all signs point to him returning. But when? That's another story."
Analysis: Gordon was in his second game back after missing 18 with a sprained wrist that included a small fracture when he was hurt again in the second quarter Saturday after a hard foul by Denver's Timofey Mozgov. Yahoo! Sports has reported that no new damage was found in his wrist upon further examination, which is good news since there was some fear he could be out for the remainder of the season. Once again, it will be time to stash Gordon and root for a speedy recovery as his upside as a scorer makes him worthy of your patience in any league. Randy Foye will get another chance to excel in his absence.
News: The Los Angeles Time reports that Eric Gordon was diagnosed with a bone chip fracture in his wrist, the same one he injured in a fall in late January. "It's a good win, but obviously a tough one just because Eric Gordon will be out now," Coach Vinny Del Negro said after Saturday's win over Denver. "He'll stay back here. He's got a bone fracture, a bone chip. Don't ask me the correct [terminology]. The words are too long for me to pronounce. Ask Jasen Powell, ask the medical staff. But he will be out."
Analysis: Del Negro went on to add that he did not know how long Gordon would be out. Gordon added that he did not think it was as bad as when he first hurt the wrist, an injury that sidelined him from Jan. 22 through March 2. Continue to monitor his progress, but it is clear that Gordon will not be a reliable option for Week 20 (March 7-13), barring a vast and sudden improvement. In his absence, Randy Foye will get a chance to return to the role that saw him flourish while Gordon was out the first time.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon's X-rays came back negative on his injured right wrist but his status will not be known until Sunday. Gordon re-aggravated his injured right wrist in Saturday's 100-94 win over the Nuggets after being fouled by Timofey Mozgov on an attempted driving layup. Gordon hit the deck hard and wasn't able to take his free-throws, which automatically made him ineligible for the rest of the game. Gordon missed 18 games earlier in the season because of a fractured bone chip and sprain in his right wrist.
Analysis: The good news is the X-rays are negative but the bad news is Gordon is definitley hurt and could miss more time because of it. He will be looked at by the team doctor on Sunday before his status is known moving forward. While positive thinking is always recommended, Fantasy owners might want to start thinking about finding a suitable alternative for the upcoming scoring period. The Clippers are headed back east during Week 20 (March 7-13), so there is a chance he stays home for the team's roadtrip. Continue to check back for the latest updates on the 22-year-old's status moving forward. Fantasy owners may want to think about picking up Randy Foye as a stopgap in case Gordon misses any time.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon left Saturday's game against the Nuggets in the second quarter after injuring his right wrist in a fall under the basket. Gordon was fouled hard by Timofey Mozgov on an attempted driving layup and was favoring his wrist afterwords. He wasn't able to attempt his free-throws, which automatically made him ineligible for the rest of the game. He was taken to the locker room for X-rays.
Analysis: Gordon seems to have injured the same wrist that caused him to miss 18 games before he returned to action on Wednesday. The only thing Fantasy owners can do now is wait and hope the X-rays come back negative. Continue to monitor the situation for the latest updates. Gordon can be considered a No. 1 Fantasy guard in all formats, when healthy.
News: After missing 18 games with a wrist injury, Clippers guard Eric Gordon returned to the lineup in Wednesday's game against the Rockets. Not only did he return, but Gordon was making his usual big plays and even sealed the win at the free-throw line. He scored nine of his 24 points in the final 4:46 of the game. Gordon shot 8 of 18 from the floor, and hit a big 3-pointer late in the game as well. He added a rebound, assist, block and steal in 35 minutes of playing time. "My wrist is weak that's probably why it's so painful at this point and all I can do is build it up," Gordon told the Los Angeles Times. He added that he knows he'll be playing through pain for the next few months.
Analysis: Gordon led the team to a win in his first game back after the Clippers went 4-14 in his absence. The wrist may have contributed to his early rust, but he quickly overcame it when it counted most with the game in the balance. Gordon didn't miss a beat in his return to the starting lineup, and the Clippers got back onto their winning ways they enjoyed when he was healthy (12-6 in last 18 games he played). Fantasy owners should not hesitate on utilizing the dynamic scorer in all formats now that he's back in the starting lineup and playing this well.
News: Coach Vinny Del Negro told the Los Angeles Times that Clippers guard Eric Gordon (wrist) will make his return to the lineup during Wednesday's game against the Rockets. Gordon has been out since Jan. 22 with a sprained right wrist and a small broken bone in the same joint.
Analysis: Apparently Gordon was able to convince the team trainers as well as De Negro that he is ready to get back on the court. Still, Fantasy owners might want to risk the temptation of getting him active until he proves to be 100 percent. The 22-year-old will also likely need a few games to get his legs and rhythm back under him. Monitor how Gordon fares over his first few games back. Once completely healthy, he can be considered a must-start in all formats again.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Eric Gordon (wrist) said on Monday that he would be playing "soon," but figured that he would be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Houston. Gordon has been out with a an injured right wrist since Jan. 22.
Analysis: Gordon was hoping to practice on Tuesday and his status will depend on how he feels on Wednesday. It does appear he will be back within the next couple of games and he should be back to full tilt within a week. Fantasy owners who have been waiting patiently to get him back active should continue to monitor his progress, but a return is nearing.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon could return on Wednesday against the Rockets, reports Yahoo! Sports Monday. Gordon is expecting to practice on Tuesday and that could determine whether or not he makes his return against Houston.
Analysis: The news on Gordon certainly is positive. That said, Gordon has still been saying recently that he's struggling with his shooting motion and that he's having trouble shooting 3-pointers. That is going to bother his game just enough to possibly make him unattractive to Fantasy owners until he's completely healthy. Our advice is to let him return on your bench and witness his effectiveness before getting him active again.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Eric Gordon (wrist) is not yet ready to return for the Clippers. The Clippers had thought he might return Monday at Sacramento, but the report notes Gordon is thinking it might be Wednesday against Houston or Saturday at home against Denver. "Right now, I can't even shoot a three-point shot," Gordon said, adding that he can't make mid-range jumpers either. Randy Foye will continue to see a boost in minutes and touches in his absence.
Analysis: Gordon will not be a safe play once again for the upcoming scoring period in Fantasy Week 19 (Feb. 28-March 6). He has been out since Jan. 22 and was initially expected to miss 3-4 weeks with the injury. While their was some early optimism that he might return earlier than expected, that will clearly not be the case. Continue to monitor his progress, but keep him out of active lineups for the time being.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon said Friday he hopes to play next week but isn't certain of an exact return date. Gordon, who is averaging 24.1 points per game this season, has been out since Jan. 22 with a sprained right wrist and a small broken bone in the same joint. He did not travel with the team on its two-game road trip this past week. He has more flexibility and was shooting a little bit today, Los Angeles coach Vinny Del Negro told NBA.com. Thats really a day-to-day situation and how he can tolerate (the pain) and how effective he is.
Analysis: Del Negro added Gordon will probably not be ready before Mondays game at Sacramento because of the injuries. If Gordon is able to play, his shot could be affected by the injury and the Clippers may opt to ease their leading scorer back into the game action. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress as Los Angeles has desperately missed his offense and has now scored under 100 points in its last six games. When healthy, Gordon should be viewed as a must-start in all Fantasy formats.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon will not travel with the team on their upcoming two-game trip to Oklahoma City and New Orleans, reports, the Los Angeles Times. Gordon, who has been out since Jan.22 had his injured wrist checked out Monday. He was evaluated today. The response was positive from both doctors, said Neil Olshey, the Clippers vice president of basketball operations. Hes going to stay home and do more therapy. Optimistically, maybe by the end of the week. If not, were targeting Sacramento. The Clippers play the Kings on Feb. 28, which would be in Fantasy Week 19 (Feb.28- March 6).
Analysis: The Clippers play four times during Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 21-27), and Gordon has already been ruled out for the first two. There is a chance he could return later in the week, but he will remain a huge injury risk heading into the upcoming scoring period. Even when Gordon does make his return, it likely will take him a game or two to get his legs under him. Fantasy owners may want to leave the Clippers' leading scorer on the bench for one more week and continue to roll with Randy Foye. Continue to monitor his status moving forward. Gordon can be considered a No. 1 Fantasy guard, when healthy.
News: Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said in a report on ESPN.com that the team hopes to have guard Eric Gordon back next week after the All-Star break. He sprained his right wrist when he fell Jan. 22 against Golden State and has been out since, missing the past 13 games. The Clippers next game is Tuesday at Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Gordon could return against the Thunder, but keep an eye on his progress coming out of the All-Star break and hope he's able to play. When healthy, Gordon is a must-start Fantasy option, but owners should use caution when setting their lineups in case he does suffer a setback prior to Tuesday. He is averaging 24.1 points and 4.5 assists in 41 games this season.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that the status of Eric Gordon (wrist) did not change after returning to Los Angeles to be re-evaluated. The Clippers announced that there is no return date set for his return. Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro was not sure whether Gordon would rejoin the team on their road trip. Gordon is expected to get re-evaluated once again on Monday, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Analysis: According to the report, indications are that Gordon probably will stay back and continue to rehabilitate the wrist. That would put him out through the All-Star break, which was initially expected to be the case anyway. He had been upgrade to day to day by the team recently and even traveled with the team at the initial portion of the of the road trip, but these developments indicate he is clearly not ready to return. Continue to monitor his progress. When healthy, he has been a reliable No. 2 guard in any Fantasy format.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon will not play Tuesday's contest at Orlando due his injured right wrist. Gordon returned to Los Angeles on Monday to get an evaluation on his fractured wrist. He missed eight straight games with his injury, although he remains listed as day to day.
Analysis: Gordon returned home so he could have his wrist evaluated, but there has still not been and official timetable announced for his return. The 22-year-old is actually dealing with sprain as well as a bone chip fracture in his wrist which he hurt back on Jan. 22. Gordon is expected to rejoin the team on their current road trip, although there has been no announcement made and when that is to take place as well. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor Gordon's status moving, but it's likely he will remained sidelined until after the All-Star break.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Eric Gordon (wrist) is not with the team in Orlando where they will play on Tuesday in Atlanta. Coach Vinny Del Negro said Gordon was sent home to have his wrist re-examined by two doctors.
Analysis: The report notes that the move was made to check on his progress. Early reports stated that Gordon might be out until after the All-Star break, but the Clippers have been listing him as day to day and that has had Fantasy owners a bit on edge. It remains unlikely that he will return within the next few games and the Clippers have maintained they will not rush him back if he is not ready. Despite the small possibility that he might be back soon, he is not a player that should be active in weekly or daily Fantasy leagues yet. Continue to monitor his progress.
News: Clippers SG Eric Gordon (back, wrist) remained out of commission Sunday as Los Angeles fell to Miami. He has now missed five straight games.
Analysis: Early reports stated that Gordon might be out until after the All-Star break, but the Clippers are listing him as day-to-day at the moment. Gordon could well be back some time in Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 7-13), but only a very brave owner would dare risk him at the moment. When Gordon is healthy, he is a must-start Fantasy option, so just have patience with this situation.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports Wednesday that Clippers guard Eric Gordon said his injured wrist has not improved since he first injured it Jan. 22. He will travel with the team on their upcoming 10-day road trip and is considered day to day, but Gordon has no plans to come back before he's ready. "I'm not rushing into just being out there and playing," Gordon said. "But I am going to try to come back at a reasonable time. I have to let it heal as much as possible and we'll see."
Analysis: Gordon, who has missed four games with his injury, is averaging 24.1 points and 4.5 assists in 41 games this season. Continue to monitor his progress and see what develops. When healthy, Gordon is a must-start Fantasy option in all leagues.
News: Guard Eric Gordon, the Clippers' leading scorer who was expected to be out for a month because of a right wrist injury, is now day to day and will join the team for its upcoming 10-game road trip, a team spokesperson said. Gordon, who has missed four games with his injury, is averaging 24.1 points and 4.5 assists in 41 games this season.
Analysis: The Clippers are saying Gordon is day to day now, but it remains unclear when he will actually be able to play. The story actually seems a little odd as the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday that Gordon is still experiencing a great deal of pain in his wrist. While Fantasy owners should be excited about the possibility of Gordon being able to return quicker than expected, owners may want to take this news with a grain of salt. Continue to monitor his status to see when he will be able to get back on the court and keep him stashed in the meantime.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon admitted to the Los Angeles Times on Saturday that he is still in pain in his injured right wrist. Gordon has a sprain and a bone chip in his shooting wrist and could end up needing extra time off after being medically cleared to play.
Analysis: Gordon is already likely out until at least the end of February and is also going to need to get back into game and shooting shape when he is able to return to the court. This might take some time before he's back to full healthy. Already gone until at least the end of February, Gordon should be stashed in all Fantasy leagues.
News: According to multiple reports, Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon will be out 3-4 weeks for the Clippers. He has a sprained right wrist and a small bone chip fracture. It was originally reported to be a torn ligament in his wrist, but that is not the case. He hurt his wrist on Saturday when he fell in a game against the Warriors.
Analysis: With the prognosis was worse than originally thought, Fantasy owners of Gordon should search for a healthy alternative for about a month. He's averaging 24.1 points per game on the year and the Clippers are playing at a high level right now. When healthy, Gordon is a must-start Fantasy guard, but with him sidelined for a while, he should be kept reserved. He could always come back from injury sooner than expected, so owners should keep tabs on him over the next few weeks.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon (back, wrist) might have a torn wrist ligament which could keep him out of action for 2-3 weeks, reports NBA.com on Tuesday. Gordon could not play in Tuesday's game at Dallas.
Analysis: Gordon is the Clippers' leading scorer and he's been playing extremely well of late so this is a terrible time for him to miss 2-3 weeks, especially considering how well the Clippers have played as a whole. He's averaging 24.1 points per game on the year and his scoring average is only going up right now. He's a must-start Fantasy option, when healthy. If these reports are true, however, Gordon could be out until after the All-Star break.
News: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Clippers SG Eric Gordon (back, wrist) did not participate in Tuesday's shootaround and is likely to miss the game at Dallas. Well see exactly where we are, coach Vinny Del Negro said. I want to talk to the doctor and to Eric. I know hes feeling a little better today. Its just going to take awhile. Hes got a sprained wrist with some swelling in there. Hopefully itll get better every day and it wont be long."
Analysis: Gordon is listed as day-to-day with a wrist sprain, while a bruised lower back temporarily forced him out of the game late in the third quarter in Los Angeles' 113-109 victory over Golden State on Saturday night. Gordon might be able to return on Wednesday at Houston, but he's more likely to have a shot at playing on Saturday against Charlotte. When healthy, Gordon is a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Guard Eric Gordon didn't travel with the Clippers to Dallas on Monday for their game against the Mavericks because of a sprained right wrist. The team said Gordon will stay in Los Angeles to undergo further evaluation and treatment, and will be a game-time decision for Tuesday night's game in Dallas. Gordon was hurt in a fall during the second quarter of a win over Golden State on Saturday. He is averaging a team-high 24.1 points in 41 games.
Analysis: Gordon appears to be a serious question mark for Tuesday's game. The report emphasizes that he "may" join the team on Tuesday, but there is no guarantee. The Los Angeles Times reported that an MRI performed on Gordon revealed no significant damage in his back or wrist. He is listed as day-to-day with a wrist sprain. A bruised lower back temporarily forced him out of the game late in the third quarter -- in Los Angeles' 113-109 victory over Golden State on Saturday night. Consider him very risky in weekly formats -- especially with the Clippers slated for just three games in Week 14 (Jan. 24-30). Gordon has been worth the risk, however, averaging 26.8 points over his last five games to go with solid numbers in assists, steals and 3-point shooting.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that an MRI performed on Eric Gordon revealed no significant damage in his back or wrist. He is listed as day-to-day with a wrist sprain. A bruised lower back temporarily forced him out of the game late in the third quarter -- in Los Angeles' 113-109 victory over Golden State on Saturday night.
Analysis: All signs seem to point to Gordon playing on. He remains questionable for Tuesday's game in Dallas and that makes him a tad risky in weekly formats -- especially with the Clippers slated for just three games in Week 14 (Jan. 24-30). Gordon has been worth the risk, however, averaging 26.8 points over his last five games to go with solid numbers in assists, steals and 3-point shooting.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon scored 23 points -- all of them before a bruised lower back temporarily forced him out of the game late in the third quarter -- in Los Angeles' 113-109 victory over Golden State on Saturday night. Gordon, the Clippers' leading scorer, collided in the air with Warriors center Andris Biedrins after driving the lane for an attempted layup and landed hard on his back with 4:44 left in the third. He spent several moments on the floor, then made both of his free throws and played another 17 seconds before going to the locker room for treatment. Gordon missed almost 14 minutes while getting treatment, before returning to play the final 2:45 of the game. Gordon finished 7 of 17 from the field and tallied four assists in 29 total minutes of action. Whenever you get up in the air, you never know how youre going to land, Gordon said. It was scary. It just felt like a quick sharp pain, but I think Ill be all right in a couple of days since I came back and played. I didnt really think Id be able to, but after a while when the pain started calming down and I saw the game getting close, I thought I should come back.
Analysis: It's unclear if Gordon suffered any injuries following his frightening collision but he should be able to play in Los Angeles' next game at Dallas on Tuesday. The emerging star struggled with his shot prior to the fall and made just 1 of 6 attempts from 3-point range. He was coming off a career-high seven 3-pointers against Portland. Despite the limited playing time, Gordon managed to keep his streak of consecutive games with 20-plus points alive at nine games. Fantasy owners in weekly formats should monitor possible injury-related news from the Clippers before setting their lineups. When healthy, he is a must-start in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon recorded 35 points, one off from matching his season high, in Los Angeles' 108-93 loss to Portland on Thursday night. Gordon played with an injured tendon on the ring finger of his shooting hand but did not seem to be bothered by the injury and drained 7 of 11 shots from 3-point range to finish 13 for 26 on the night. Gordon, who scored 22 of his points in the second half, played 44 minutes -- his second-highest total of the season -- and added five rebounds and four assists. He suffered the injury to his finger in his previous game against Minnesota on Wednesday.
Analysis: Gordon has been a surprisingly prolific scorer for the Clippers this season. The third-year guard, who averaged 16.5 points in his first two NBA seasons, is now posting a solid 23.8 points per game this year to lead the team. He has now scored 20-plus points in 30 of his last 37 games for Los Angeles, which drafted Gordon seventh overall in the 2008 NBA Draft. He has tallied double digits in field goals in three of his last five games and averaging a robust 27.8 points in that span. Consider Gordon a must-start in all Fantasy formats.
News: Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon continued his solid play in Wednesday's win over the Timberwolves, pouring in 23 points on 7 of 14 shooting. He did it in limited action, because he left the game with 3:15 left in the first quarter after injuring the tendon in his right ring finger, according to the team. He returned to start the second half with his finger taped. "It's hurting pretty bad. I'm just going to play through it," Gordon said. "They said it's probably torn." Gordon was still perfect on all three of his attempts from beyond the arc and all six tries from the free-throw line. He scored 18 of the 23 points after the injury and added two assists, a rebound and a steal in 30 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Not only did Gordon play through the injury seemingly without limitation, but he found a way to score at least 23 points for the seventh straight game despite limited action. Gordon should be fine moving forward, but the situation should be monitored considering he plays Thursday night at Portland on a quick turn-around. Still, with the way he is playing in January, Fantasy owners should keep Gordon active in all formats heading into next week.
News: Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon has scored 25 points or more in four straight games. His latest came on Friday in a losing effort, but he kept his team close. Gordon scored 28 points on an 11-for-18 shooting performance -- going 2 for 5 from downtown -- and converting 4 of his 5 foul shots. The Clippers would fall to the Warriors, 122-112, despite his strong showing. Gordon added a team-high seven assists, four rebounds and two steals in his 40 minutes of action.
Analysis: Gordon is averaging 23.4 points, 4.2 assists, 3.6 boards and 1.2 steals per game over his last five. He's shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 85.3 percent from the charity stripe over that span. Fantasy owners should keep Gordon active in all formats heading into next week.
News: For the third straight game on Wednesday, Clippers guard Eric Gordon notched at least 25 points on the night. Against the Heat, he shot 8 of 15 from the field on his way to 26 points. Gordon made big shots throughout the night, including a three-pointer late in the game to put the lead out of Miami's reach. He added six assists and five rebounds in the upset, while logging 42 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Gordon had some inconsistent scoring weeks leading up to the new year, and he continued in the first game this month, posting 10 points. Since then, he has scored no less than 25 a night while shooting a combined 25 of 53. The solid numbers are up from the two games before the scoring outburst, when Gordon shot 10 of 34 from the field. He seems to be back on top of his game offensively, so owners should continue to view him as a viable Fantasy option moving forward.
News: After two sub-par shooting performances, Clippers guard Eric Gordon got back to his normal scoring ways in Wednesday's win over the Nuggets. He shot 9 of 20 from the field, including 4 of 8 from three-point range. Gordon had combined to shoot 10 of 34 in the previous two outings, and 1 of 12 from downtown. He complimented his scoring with four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 39 minutes of fast-paced action."We get on the break and it's hard to stop us," Gordon said. "We're a transition type of team so if we have a good tempo, everything will go our way."
Analysis: Gordon's mini-funk should not have been a big concern for Fantasy owners, but it was nice to see him get back on track this fast. It helps when the Clipper front-court combo of Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan combine for 36 points and 38 rebounds, allowing Gordon to roam the perimeter. With a tough stretch of games coming up in Week 12 (Jan.10-16) against the Heat and Lakers, Gordon owners should expect a slight dip in numbers. Either that, or owners can expect him to try and make up for the tough matchups against the Warriors -- in a game sandwiched in between the two high-profile teams. Still, Gordon is a pure scorer and he should be used as a viable Fantasy option moving forward.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon shot 7 of 20 in a loss to the Jazz on Wednesday night. Gordon scored 19 points and went just 1 of 7 from 3-point range. He added five assists, four rebounds, a steal and a block.
Analysis: Gordon is averaging 25.6 points, 4.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals and has 17 3-pointers in his last five games. He'll have better shooting nights and is worthy of starting in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon had the second-best scoring night of his career on Monday and Los Angeles has a three-game winning streak after topping Minnesota. Gordon shot 14 of 23 from the field over 37 minutes to score 36 points to fall just five shot of his career-high of 41 set last year, also in a win. Gordon went 5 for 7 from 3-point range and added six assists and five steals.
Analysis: Gordon has done what the Clippers have needed of him during the three-game winning streak and Monday they needed him to score. Gordon did that at a very high level. He's averaging 22 points, 5.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.6 steals and two 3-pointers per game over his last five and that scoring average is down from his season's numbers. Gordon is very much a must-start Fantasy option across the board at this point.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon scored just 15 points and added six assists in Los Angeles' 109-88 victory at Detroit on Friday night. Gordon, who leads the team with 24.1 points per game, failed to reach 20 points in back-to-back outings for just the second time this season (he had 16 points on Wednesday). Gordon has struggled from the field lately, and connected on 5 of 11 shots in Friday's game -- his third contest shooting less than 50 percent.
Analysis: Gordon logged 39 minutes Friday but tallied just five field goals, matching his second-lowest output of the season. He did make 1 of 2 shots from 3-point range to extend his streak of games with at least one trey to 13 contests. His assists production has remained steady and he is averaging 5.2 in his last five games. Gordon is one of the NBA's premier scoring options and should be viewed as a must-start in all Fantasy formats.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon didn't have one of his better shooting games on Wednesday and L.A. fell at Philadelphia. Gordon shot 6 of 18 from the field and went 1 of 5 from 3-point range to score 16 points. He added five rebounds, four assists and turned the ball over five times.
Analysis: Gordon had his lowest scoring total in his last five games on Wednesday. He'd been over 20 points in each of his previous four contests. He continues to be an elite NBA scorer and has almost two 3-pointers per night in his last five. Adding more threes to his game, Gordon can be active in just about any Fantasy format.
News: Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon had a big game for the Clippers on Wednesday night against the Lakers, but would miss a key foul shot at the end of the game. The third-year guard scored 24 points on a 8-for-14 shooting performance -- hitting 3 of his 5 3-pointers -- and 5 of his 7 foul shots. Gordon would add five rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Clippers, but also have five costly turnovers at the end of the contest. Gordon and his teammates could not hold onto the lead as the Lakers crawled back into the game late and found a way to leave the court with a 87-86 win.
Analysis: Gordon has scored more than 20 points in 10 straight games. He's averaging 24.4 points over his last five outings to go with 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Gordon and the Clippers are playing well and have beaten some of the best teams in the Western Conference. He had a big game on Wednesday too, but couldn't seal the deal from the foul line. He's doing more than enough to be considered a must-start Fantasy guard in all formats.
News: Clippers G Eric Gordon scored 21 points in Wednesday's upset win over the Spurs, giving him six straight games with at least 20 points. He has scored at least 20 points in all but three games this season, scoring 19 points in two of those games.
Analysis: Gordon is lighting it up from beyond the arc and has even picked up the pace recently in the assist category with Baron Davis ailing. Davis returned on Wednesday, however, and Gordon had just two dimes so that may be coming to an end. Very quietly, Gordon is averaging just under 25 points per game with five dimes and is worthy of activating in all leagues.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon had his seventh straight game where he has reached double figures in scoring. Only one of those outings was less than 20 points. Gordon led Los Angeles with 28 points on Thursday night against Sacramento. He shot 8 for 17 from the field -- 1 for 3 from downtown -- and converted 11 of his 12 foul shots. The third-year guard added four rebounds and a team-high six assists.
Analysis: After missing two games with a shoulder injury, Gordon is averaging 26.7 points and 3.0 assists per game. He can score with the best of them so far this season and is shooting a high level from the field. Keep him active in all Fantasy formats as he is developing into an upper-tier guard.
News: Clippers G Eric Gordon had a third monster scoring night in a row in Wednesday's game at Minnesota. He scored 30 points for a second consecutive game and has scored at least 28 points in each of his first three games back from a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Clearly, the shoulder is not an issue for Gordon. He is picking up some of the scoring slack the team is trying to fill in the absence of Chris Kaman, but Gordon is a plus scorer regardless of the situation. When healthy, Gordon is a No. 2 Fantasy guard on the rise.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon, who missed the previous two games with a deep bone bruise, returned to the lineup for Friday's game against the Pistons. Its about 70 percent right now, said Gordon, who will wear a protective gel pad on his shoulder. Im just going to play through it. Theres no damage in my cartilage so its all about building it back up right now. Im still going to be attacking the rim as much as I can. Gordon finished with 28 points in the 113-107 loss, and five assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: Gordon had been getting an opportunity to handle the ball more, improving his assists, but now he seems to have caught the injury bug himself. It appears he will attempt to play through his shoulder injury, and based on Friday's performance, he can still be productive. Gordon faces the Nets, Timberwolves, Pacers and Knicks during Week 4 and should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy guards in all formats, if healthy.
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon (shoulder) has missed two straight games with a deep bone bruise in his left shoulder, an injury which occurred on Saturday. Gordon was hoping not to miss any time and instead has sat out back-to-back contests. He is considered day to day and will be questionable for Friday against Detroit.
Analysis: The Clippers backcourt is already shorthanded without Baron Davis (knee) and Randy Foye (hamstring). Gordon had been getting an opportunity to handle the ball more, improving his assists, but now he seems to have caught the injury bug himself. If he's back Friday, Fantasy owners can check him off their list of injury risks. When healthy, Gordon is a No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: Clippers SG Eric Gordon, who suffered a deep bone bruise in his left shoulder Saturday but was expected to play through the injury, will in fact miss Tuesday's contest at New Orleans, coach Vinny Del Negro told the Los Angeles Times.
Analysis: The Clippers backcourt is already shorthanded without Baron Davis (knee) and Randy Foye (hamstring). Gordon had been getting an opportunity to handle the ball more, improving his assists, but now he seems to have caught the injury bug himself. He could end up returning as soon as Wednesday, but you'll want to sit him in daily leagues. He's a No. 2 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Clippers G Eric Gordon expects to play through the deep bone bruise he suffered to his left shoulder in Saturday's game. He underwent an MRI that revealed the bone bruise and is listed as day-to-day.
Analysis: Gordon says that he expects to play, but it certainly would not be the first time that a player says that and then is held out. Even with this favorable news, you will have to take a leap of faith when starting Gordon in weekly formats for Fantasy Week 3 (Nov. 8-14). Gordon has scored 21-plus points in four straight games, however, and certainly is worth the risk.
News: Los Angeles guard Eric Gordon suffered a shoulder stinger on Saturday against Utah, but would return to the game. The Clippers blew a big lead to the Jazz and the two teams would battle into two overtimes. Gordon played 53 minutes in the game, but was on the bench with the game on the line. He finished with a team-high 27 points -- shooting 9 for 22 from the field and nailing all nine of his foul shots. He did not hit any of his 3-point attempts however, but his shoulder may have played a part in that. He added five rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks, but the Clippers would fall to 1-6 on the year after a heartbreaking 109-107 loss. He walked off the court with coach Vinny Del Negro right behind him with his hand on his young star's shoulder.
Analysis: Gordon is averaging over 20 points per contest and has been a good source of rebounds and assists for a guard. Fantasy owners have to be pleased with his performance so far this year, but worried about the severity of this injury. He was able to play through the pain for a while, so with a few days off he may be ready to take the court on Wednesday against the Hornets. If he is healthy, Gordon is a worth starting in all Fantasy leagues, especially with a favorable week ahead -- the Spurs and Pistons are the other two teams slated for the Clippers in Week 3 (Nov. 8-14).
News: Clippers guard Eric Gordon topped 20 points for the second straight game on Wednesday against the Thunder with Baron Davis missing time. Gordon shot 10 of 17 from the field for the second straight game and went 3 for 7 from long range. He added five rebounds and four assists.
Analysis: Gordon has 15 assists in his last two games to go with 50 points. He's shooting well, he's playing well all around and the Clippers won behind him on Wednesday. He is clearly a recipe for success for the club and should continue to find the ball in his hands. That is great news for Fantasy owners as the former Indiana Hoosier is worth starting across the board.
News: Guard Eric Gordon had 23 points and a career-high 11 assists for the Clippers on Monday night in a loss to the Spurs. Gordon played 33 minutes and did a good bit of the ball handling with Baron Davis missing the game. Gordon shot 10 of 17 from the field and grabbed four rebounds, adding two steals.
Analysis: Davis continuing to be hurt and struggle badly when he's playing seems like it could greatly improve Gordon's value. With Eric Bledsoe the starting point guard, the Clippers seems more comfortable with Gordon with the ball in his hands. If he can consistently add a high number of assists to his scoring, there is no telling how valuable Gordon can become.
News: Clippers G Eric Gordon struggled with his shot in Sunday's game against the Mavericks, going 2 for 9 from the field. He scored nine points with four assists and two rebounds. Gordon had scored at least 19 points in his first two games of the season.
Analysis: Gordon was stifled by a strong defensive effort by the Mavericks on Sunday, an effort that limited the Clippers to just 83 points. One thing we are seeing from him early on this season is a rise in 3-point attempts. He has attempted 15 treys over the last two games, converting only three of them. Gordon is not much of a contributor outside of scoring, but he could become helpful in 3-point shooting if he can develop his shot. He remains a good play in most formats.

He's scored at least 25 points in two of his last five games and is averaging 19.4 points per game over that span. Analysis: Gordon will be looking to get back on track after a mediocre 4 of 11 shooting performance from the field. He usually gets in the neighborhood of 13-15 shots per game and will be a lot more active than he was against a very tough Bobcats defense. Look for him to remain a viable No. 2 or 3 guard, depending on your league's format.

Analysis: Gordon is averaging 18 points per game over his last five but that is coming with minimal other statistics. He's not much more than a scorer and three-point threat. His scoring still keeps him a viable option in most Fantasy leagues but only use him when the matchups are right. The Clippers do play twice in Week 16 (Feb. 8-14) with favorable matchups so this is as good a time as any.

News: The Los Angeles Times reports Clippers guard Eric Gordon said he is experiencing some arthritis in the sprained big toe on his left foot that has forced him to sit out the last two games against Washington and Denver. Gordon said he fears it could linger for the rest of the season. "That's probably the worst thing, that it's going to keep on hurting throughout the year," he said. "I'm trying to get it to the point where it's calming down so I can be out there and play." Gordon said he expects to return during this current road trip, though his availability Monday night at Boston is expected to be a game-time decision.

News: Clippers SG Eric Gordon scored 17 points Sunday against Miami as he shot 6 for 9 from the field and hit a three. Gordon added a rebound and a steal.
Analysis: Gordon is averaging 18.2 points per game over his last five and that is almost a point higher than his season average. He's consistently hitting threes and giving Fantasy owners a solid number of steals. He doesn't do much as far as rebounding or assists but as a scorer, he's worth a look in most Fantasy leagues.

Gordon went 8 for 11 from the field, scoring 24 points and adding six assists and a rebound. He also had five steals and four turnovers in the contest.
Analysis: Since missing eight games in November with a groin injury, Gordon had not looked like the same player he was at the start of the season until Wednesday's contest against Portland. Not only had his scoring been down, but his assists also started to plummet. Hopefully this breakthrough performance will help him continue to put up bigger numbers. For now, Gordon remains just a No. 3 Fantasy option. He has the upside to be a whole lot more.
News: Clippers SG Eric Gordon had just 15 points and three assists Tuesday at Houston. He's averaging just 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists over his last four games.
Analysis: Gordon looked like he was on the verge of a breakthrough at the start of the season, but he hasn't been the same player since missing eight games in November with a groin injury. He again looks like a non-factor in assists, making him little more than a scorer and 3-point shooter. He's just a No. 3 Fantasy guard right now, but he obviously has the upside for more.
News: Clippers SG Eric Gordon equaled a season high with 29 points against the Wizards on Monday, shooting 10 for 15 from the field and 3 of 6 from 3-point range. He also had five steals. He sets the tone. He sets the tempo for us."
Analysis: Gordon has been in and out of the lineup recently with a strained left hamstring, but he seems to be finding his form again. He's averaging 17 points per game this season but is capable of approaching 20 if he remains healthy and a focal point of the offense. Treat him as a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Clippers G Eric Gordon had 10 points with 4 assists in Sunday's game against the Clippers. It was his second 10-point outing in three games.
Analysis: Gordon is still getting his usual 35 minutes per game and around 10-15 shots per game. He just hasn't looked like he's had that aggressive instinct that he's always had. He isn't getting to the line nearly as much as he does when he's going well and it could still have something to do with the ankle injury he dealt with last week. Gordon should continue to be a good play in most formats, but he's not clicking on all cylinders at the moment.
News:Eric Gordon was back in the Clippers' lineup Saturday against Indiana after sitting out Wednesday night in a loss to Houston because of a left hamstring strain. The second-year shooting guard, who was born in Indianapolis, played his high school ball there and was drafted by the Clippers following his freshman year at Indiana, missed eight games with a groin injury before returning to play in the other loss to the Pacers.
Analysis: Gordon shot just 3 for 10 from the field and scored only 10 points. He was a little rusty, but he was able to play 32 minutes and should be a safe play health-wise. However, with the Clippers slated for just two games in Week 7, he is a player to reserve in weekly cumulative formats.

Analysis: Gordon was playing in his third game since coming back from an injury and finally looked like the player owners expect to see. The Clippers play only twice in Week 6, however, so you might consider reserving him.
News: Clippers SG Eric Gordon returned to the lineup Wednesday at Indiana after missing eight games with a sore left groin. He scored only six points in 27 minutes off the bench, shooting 2 for 7 from the field.
Analysis: Gordon might need a game or two to get back in form, but before the injury, he was averaging 18.9 points and 4.0 assists as the team's starting shooting guard. He should get back to playing that way by the end of the week, so prepare to activate him for Fantasy Week 6 (Nov. 30-Dec. 6).

News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Eric Gordon (groin) has ruled out returning Monday night against Minnesota, but he left open the possibility of coming back against Indiana on Wednesday, which, incidentally, would be in his hometown of Indianapolis. Gordon has missed the last seven games.
Analysis: Gordon sounds like he is getting closer to a return, but with the Clippers playing just three games in Week 5 (Nov. 23-29) and him already being ruled out for one of them he is someone to avoid starting this week. When healthy, he is a viable No. 2 guard in any format.

Kaman makes a strong start. The same goes for breakout candidate Al Thornton and Ricky Davis. In larger leagues, rookie Eric Gordon and veterans Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas could be useful in a pinch.
