News: According to the Deseret News, the Jazz have decided not to re-sign guard Kyle Weaver. Weaver was signed to a 10-day contract back on March 30 from the Austin Torros of the NBADL. "It just didn't work out," coach Tyler Corbin said of Weaver's release. However, he then went on to say the team might invite him to training camp next season.
Analysis: Weaver was called up with all the injuries the Jazz were experiencing. However, with Devin Harris able to return from his hamstring troubles, the team decided it not longer needed the 25-year-old's services. He could get a chance to make the roster during training camp next season, if he is extended an invite by the Jazz. Fantasy owners can continue to ignore the Washington State product in all formats for now.
News: Jazz guard Kyle Weaver, who was signed to a 10-day contract after a callup from the NBDL Wednesday, set a career-high in his second game of the year Sunday against the Kings. He shot 7 of 11 from the floor on the way to 19 points, burying a trio of 3-pointers along the way. Weaver wasn't just a scorer for Utah, he did a little bit of everything to make an impression. He assisted on three baskets and pulled down a pair of rebounds in 30 minutes of playing time. Defensively, Weaver blocked two shots and got his hands on a steal in the tough loss.
Analysis: Weaver was called up because of all the injuries the Jazz have been dealing with at multiple positions. He has the versatility to fill more than one hole, and any player on a 10-day contract will give 100 percent effort, something seemingly rare on the sputtering Jazz. Weaver will likely continue to see some playing time moving forward, but he remains a Fantasy risk with such a small pro sample size at this point. Keep an eye on him for now, but don't take the flier just yet outside of daily leagues.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Jazz plan to sign guard Kyle Weaver to a 10-day contract after calling him up from the NBA Development League's Austin Toros. Utah GM Kevin O'Connor announced the move Wednesday. "We like his experience," O'Connor said. "We like the fact that he can play a couple different positions." With Utah's Raja Bell, Andrei Kirilenko, Devin Harris and Ronnie Price out Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers due to injuries, O'Connor said that Weaver will help fill out a depleted roster. Weaver is expected to sign with the Jazz and practice Thursday, and should be available for the Lakers game. "Obviously, we're down some guards," O'Connor said. "I think our commitment to both the members of the team and to the fans we don't want to be playing people totally out of position. We could've wound up in a situation where it could've been really difficult for us to field enough guards to play."
Analysis: Weaver is worth keeping an eye on with the Jazz down due to injuries, but he's not going to make a significant impact on your Fantasy roster for the rest of this season. Ignore him in the majority of leagues unless he proves otherwise.
News: According to The Oklahoman, former Thunder guard Kyle Weaver was waived by the Bulls. He was on a non-guaranteed training camp contract.
Analysis: Weaver was a long shot to make the roster and the fact he got waived gives him hardly any Fantasy value. He can be ignored in all Fantasy leagues this year.
News: Bulls G Kyle Weaver saw some decent playing time on Friday night against the Wizards. He played just over 17 minutes and scored five points off 2 of 4 shooting in the 107-96 win. Weaver, who made his only 3-point attempt but went 0 for 2 from the free-throw line, also had four rebounds and five assists in the victory.
Analysis: Weaver was invited to training camp by the Bulls but will be a long shot to make the roster. He played 12 games for the Thunder last season and averaged just 12.0 minutes per game. He averaged 20.8 minutes per game as a rookie, but averaged just 5.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. We don't anticipate him being a relevant Fantasy option so continue to ignore Weaver in all leagues.
News: The Chicago Bulls added three players to their training camp roster, signing them to non-guaranteed contracts. Roger Powell, Chris Richard and Kyle Weaver will attempt to make the final roster during the preseason.
Analysis: Weaver played 12 games for the Thunder last season. He averaged just 12.0 minutes per game. He averaged 20.8 minutes per game as a rookie, but averaged just 5.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. We don't anticipate him being a relevant Fantasy option.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Thunder G Kyle Weaver scored a career-high 12 points at Toronto on Friday, and his teammates may have been the ones more excited. The second-year guard has been hounded by injuries, including shoulder surgery. "Everybody was really happy for Kyle," Nick Collison said. "He's had a really tough year with the surgery, but he's come back really quickly from that. He had an opportunity with James (Harden) being out and he finally was able to knock down some shots."
Analysis: Weaver is averaging just 3.2 points over his last five games and has a very limited role in the Thunder's rotation. He can continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: According to the team's official Web site, the Thunder recalled G Kyle Weaver on Friday. Weaver was with the team's NBDL affiliate, the Tulsa 666ers.
Analysis: Weaver had successful shoulder surgery in November and has been rehabbing and getting minutes with the 66ers. He will play limited minutes in the team's rotation the rest of the way and is not expected to make any significant Fantasy impact.
News: Thunder SG Kyle Weaver had successful surgery Monday on his separated shoulder, an injury he suffered last week during practice. The team says his rehabilitation will last at least four months.
Analysis: That timetable puts Weaver out until April, which means he might end up missing the rest of the season. He has some upside, but he hadn't become a big part of the Thunder rotation this season. Leave him on waivers in Fantasy.
News: Oklahoma City SG Kyle Weaver will have surgery on his dislocated shoulder Monday.
Analysis: Weaver is not a relevant Fantasy option and should be ignored in all Fantasy formats for Fantasy Week 12 (Nov. 30-Dec. 6).
News: Thunder SG Kyle Weaver was out on Friday against the Bucks due to a shoulder injury. He is questionable for Sunday against the Rockets.
Analysis: Fantasy owners haven't paid much attention to Weaver as he does not see much playing time. That is unlikely to change and the injury sure does not help. Leave him on waivers.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Kyle Weaver left practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury. He was taken to a doctor and is considered questionable for Friday's game against Milwaukee.
Analysis: Fantasy owners haven't paid much attention to Weaver as he does not see much playing time. That is unlikely to change and the injury sure does not help. Leave him on waivers.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Kyle Weaver was recalled from the NBDL Tuesday. Weaver served as the backup point guard to Russell Westbrook against Utah.
Analysis: The Thunder recalled the second-year guard Tuesday out of necessity because of injuries to Ollie and Shaun Livingston (recovering from knee surgery). He has no Fantasy appeal.
News: The Thunder have recalled guard Kyle Weaver from the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League and he was expected to be available for Tuesday night's game at Utah. A second-year player, Weaver scored 11 points in his season debut last week against Orlando. He also played the final minute of the Thunder's victory Friday night against Washington.
Analysis: Weaver has minimal Fantasy value in all leagues and should not be used even though he's back with the Thunder.
News: The Oklahoma City Thunder have assigned rookie center Byron Mullens and guard Kyle Weaver to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League.
Analysis: Weaver, a second-year player, scored 11 points in his season debut Wednesday against Orlando. He also played the final minute of the Thunder's victory Friday night against Washington, when the game was already in hand. He has no Fantasy appeal.
News: Oklahoma City SG Kyle Weaver scored four points on 1 of 7 shooting on Saturday in a preseason game against the Hornets. Weaver is returning from thumb surgery.
Analysis: Weaver is not a major part of the Thunder's plans this season and his Fantasy value is therefore limited. Last season, he averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds as a rookie. Don't look to draft him in Fantasy leagues.
News: InsideHoops.com is reporting that Kyle Weaver underwent successful surgery to repair the extensor tendon in his left thumb. Weaver sustained the injury during the Las Vegas summer league.
Analysis: Weaver is not a major part of the Thunder's plans in the upcoming season and his Fantasy value is therefore limited. Last season, he averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds as a rookie. Don't look to draft him in Fantasy leagues this fall.
News: The Oklahoma City Thunder are recalling forward D.J. White and guard Kyle Weaver from the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League. Thunder general manager announced the moves on Saturday.
Analysis: White has appeared in six games for the 66ers during three assignments to the D-League. He averaged 18.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots in 31 minutes per game while in Tulsa. Weaver saw action in two games during his first assignment to the 66ers. He averaged 17 points, nine assists and 7.5 rebounds in 44 minutes per game. Neither player should be owned in Fantasy since they just keep going up and down as team depth.
News: The Oklahoman reports Thunder Rookies D.J. White and Kyle Weaver have been assigned to the Tulsa 66ers, the Thunder's D-League affiliate. It's the third time White has been sent to Tulsa and the first time Weaver has been sent down. In four games with Tulsa, White has averages of 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists in 30.8 minutes. Weaver has played in 49 games for the Thunder, 17 as a starter, and is averaging 5.4 point, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 20 minutes a game.
Analysis: Weaver has minimal Fantasy value with the Thunder, so now that he's been sent down, ignore him in all leagues. He's not worth owning if he's not with the NBA club.
News: Thunder SG Kyle Weaver replaced the injured Kevin Durant (ankle) in the starting lineup Monday against the Mavs. Weaver contributed 18 points in 36 minutes. He also had three rebounds and four assists. It was the third time in five games he scored in double figures.
Analysis: Durant just went down with the ankle injury Friday against the Mavs, so Weaver was playing well even before Durant left the lineup. But now that Durant is day-to-day with an ankle injury, there is more PT up for grabs. Weaver won't produce as well as Durant, so he remains more of a stopgap Fantasy option.
News: Thunder rookie SG Kyle Weaver, who scored a career-high 19 points in his last game, had his second-best scoring effort of the season Tuesday against the Lakers. He finished with 16 points and four rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Weaver has gotten plenty more minutes this month, averaging 31 per game before Tuesday's game. He has only recently begun to take advantage of those minutes, though. He deserves a look now in deeper Fantasy leagues, but you'll obviously need to see more from him before you count on him for significant production.
News: Thunder G Kyle Weaver scored 19 points with five rebounds and an assist in Saturday's game at Golden State. It was just his second double-digit scoring game in February.
Analysis: Weaver is averaging just 6.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in February despite starting and seeing 31.0 minutes per game. This is not the beginning of a resurgence, but more of a reason that Fantasy owners can take chances starting fringe players when they go up against a Golden State team that allows the most points and rebounds in the NBA.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Kyle Weaver, who replaced Desmond Mason in the starting lineup during a two-game West Coast trip, probably will remain a starter for the foreseeable future, even though Weaver was one of the defenders on Kevin Martin, who scored 37 points on Sunday. "(The lineup) is still day-to-day," Brooks said. "Kevin Martin is one of the better scoring guards in the league. That's what he does put the ball in the basket," Brooks said. "It wasn't Kyle. Everybody had a chance to get a stop on (Martin). Kyle has done a good job and is going to get better every game."
Analysis: Weaver has scored a combined seven points with two rebounds and an assist in his last two games. He has not been a productive part of the team's rotation and that doesn't look like it will change even with him as a starter.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Kyle Weaver will take Desmond Mason's spot in the starting lineup for the time being. Coach Scott Brooks said the move is not permanent and that he will continue to evaluate all options. He has said that he would consider using players like Nenad Krstic and Chris Wilcox if he wants a big lineup or Earl Watson and Chucky Atkins if he wants a small lineup.
Analysis: Weaver has not cracked double figures in scoring all season, but that has a lot to do with the fact he has not gotten consistent playing time. That should change as a starter, obviously, though it does appear the team will be using a committee approach at small forward for now. Think about taking a low-end flier in deeper leagues on the rookie, but that is about it for now. Monitor his progress.
News: Thunder SG Kyle Weaver played Monday against the Nets and didn't miss a game after injuring his ankle Friday against the Clippers. Weaver drained just two points in 18 minutes off the bench, while adding four rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: Weaver has played in 10 straight games for Oklahoma City, the longest streak of his rookie season. He finally seems to be a consistent mix of the Thunder rotation, but his scoring is still way down so he has minimal Fantasy appeal.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Kyle Weaver was taken to the locker room Friday night against the Clippers after hitting the floor hard midway through the second quarter. Team officials said it was an ankle injury.
Analysis: Weaver has appeared in only 20 games and is averaging 12.9 minutes per game. Until he can gain a bigger role, he is not a player that should be owned in Fantasy.
News: Guard Kyle Weaver, a second-round draft pick, signed a multiyear contract Wednesday with Oklahoma City. Weaver was selected 38th in June by Charlotte but didn't sign with the Bobcats before being traded to Oklahoma City earlier this month for a second-round choice in next year's draft.
Analysis: Weaver averaged 12.2 points last season as a senior at Washington State. He averaged 6.2 points in five games for Charlotte in the Las Vegas summer league, but faced stiff competition to make Charlotte's regular-season roster. He's no guarantee to make Oklahoma City's roster, but at least he'll have a better chance there.
News: The Charlotte Bobcats have traded second-round pick Kyle Weaver to Oklahoma City for a second-round choice in next year's draft. The guard was the 38th overall pick in June after averaging 12.2 points as a senior at Washington State.
