Report: Cavs could deal Dion Waiters for Grizzlies' Kosta Koufos

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(12/8/2014) The Cavaliers are looking to add another big man to their rotation and Grizzlies backup center Kosta Koufos has popped up in trade rumors, according to ESPN senior NBA writer Marc Stein.

The piece most likely to be dealt to land Koufos or another quality big man is shooting guard Dion Waiters, according to Stein. Koufos, playing just 13.8 minutes per game, is averaging 4.1 points and 3.9 rebounds for the Grizzlies.

Waiters is averaging 8.1 points and 1.9 assists per game.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/21/2014) Grizzlies shooting guards Tony Allen and Quincy Pondexter are the only two players who remain on the team's injury report for Friday's game against the Celtics.

Both players continue to deal with an illness that rocked the Memphis roster. Allen is questionable for Friday's game, while Pondexter is doubtful. As they are the only two players whose availability is in question, center Kosta Koufos, guard Beno Udrih and forwards Jarnell Stokes and Jon Leuer will be available Friday.

Kosta Koufos posts rare double-double

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/8/2014) Grizzlies center Kosta Koufos stepped up with his fourth double-double of the season Saturday night against the Bobcats.

Koufos grabbed 10 boards and scored 12 points on 5 of 11 from the floor. He also converted 2 of 3 from the free throw line while logging 19 minutes off the bench. He is averaging 9.4 points and 5.8 rebounds over his last five games.

Kosta Koufos makes an impact off bench

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/5/2014) Grizzlies center Kosta Koufos played well off the bench Wednesday against the Nets, as he nearly snagged a double-double in a 103-94 loss.

Though he fell a few rebounds short of the double-double, Koufos did reach double figures in scoring for the first time in more than a month. He scored 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting in 19 minutes, and added eight rebounds, one block and two steals in the loss.

Koufos has remained a consistent part of the rotation, but isn't producing much in a reserve role. He finished the month of February averaging just 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Grizzlies asking little from reserve bigs

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(2/8/2014)  Grizzlies reserve big men Ed Davis and Kosta Koufos continue to make little impact, as they played just 19 combined minutes Saturday, in a 79-76 win over the Hawks.

Davis played a bigger role than Koufos in the win, though he ended up with just two points in 14 minutes of action. He was more impactful on the boards, however, grabbing seven rebounds and blocking one shot on defense.

Koufos played just five minutes, and did little to stand out despite attempting six quick shots. He connected on just two of them for four points, while adding three rebounds.

Neither player has managed to do much recently, with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph both healthy. Koufos is averaging just 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds over the last five games, while Davis is putting up 2.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in that same span.

Kosta Koufos enjoys efficient shooting performance vs. Houston

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/26/2014) Grizzlies center Kosta Koufos turned in an efficient shooting performance on Saturday, and fell three rebounds shy of a double-double in a 99-81 victory over the Rockets.

Koufos scored 14 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the field. He also grabbed seven boards, with two of them coming from the offensive end of the glass. He logged 24 minutes of game action, adding one assist and three blocks. He has averaged 5.6 points and 3.2 rebounds over his last five games played.

Grizzlies reserve big men take a backseat

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/14/2014) With the return of center Marc Gasol from a knee injury, the Grizzlies big man rotation shrank immediately Tuesday, in a 90-87 win over the Thunder. Reserve big men Ed Davis, Jon Leuer and Kosta Koufos all saw their diminished roles in Gasol's return.

Davis saw the most playing time of the trio at 22 minutes, still a tad lower than his total for the month of January entering the game. He finished with six points and six rebounds on 3 of 6 shooting.

Leuer and Koufos barely saw the floor upon Gasol's return. Though Gasol was limited to just 24 minutes, Leuer and Koufos played just three minutes each, both finishing scoreless, with Leuer adding just a single rebound between them.

The Grizzlies are going to lean heavily on their All-Star big man duo of Gasol and Zach Randolph, leaving little room in the rotation for their backups moving forward.

(1/12/2014) Grizzlies center Kosta Koufos enjoyed another productive performance as he fell two boards shy of a double-double Sunday afternoon against the Hawks.

Koufos went 5 of 6 shooting from the field and 1 of 2 from the charity stripe. He scored 11 points and grabbed eight boards, with only two of them coming from the offensive end of the glass. He also chipped one assist and one block while logging 21 minutes of game action.

Koufos has scored in double figures in two of his last five games played. He has averaged 9.2 points and 6.6 rebounds over that span.

Kosta Koufos narrowly misses double-double

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/3/2014) Grizzlies center Kosta Koufos just barely missed out on a double-double Thursday, in a 99-91 win over the Suns.

Koufos started the game but played just 20 minutes. Despite the relatively small minute total, he scored 10 points and snagged nine rebounds, four of them on the offensive glass, in the win.

Koufos has been in and out of the starting lineup at times, and will likely move to a full-time reserve role pretty soon, with Marc Gasol likely to return from a knee injury in the next few weeks. He is averaging 7.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game on the season, the latter of which is a career-high.

He also chipped in with one assist, one steal and two blocks while logging 33 minutes of game action in a 108-82 defeat.

Koufos has scored in double figures in each of his last four games. He is averaging 11.6 points and 12.2 boards over his last five games.

Koufos played 31 minutes in the game and nearly notched a double-double, scoring eight points and adding 13 rebounds. The 13 rebounds represent his season-high total, and he added two assists and two blocks in a 93-86 loss.

Koufos will likely remain the starter with Gasol out. He is averaging 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 14 contests.

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Koufos has started 105 games over the last two seasons, including 81 this season.
