News: The Denver Post reported Wednesday that Nuggets coach George Karl is strongly considering removing center Kosta Koufos from the starting lineup beginning in Game 3 against the Warriors Friday. The Nuggets were outscored by 18 points in 14 minutes with Koufos on the floor in Game 2, and he finished scoreless with just two rebounds. Koufos has started 105 games over the last two seasons, including 81 this season.
Analysis: Koufos started in all 81 of his games this season, but averaged just 22.4 minutes per game. The Nuggets don't ask their centers to do much, whether they come off the bench or start, so this should not impact his role much. It is telling that the Nuggets might not think much of Koufos as a long-term part of their core. Koufos is still under contract for $3.0 million over his next two seasons, but the team might opt to use him in a different role next season. Koufos goes through stretches where he is a useful Fantasy option, but he can usually be scooped up off the waiver wires. Ignore him until the last few rounds in most Fantasy formats next season.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos played just 16 minutes Tuesday against the Thunder, as his playing time remains inconsistent. Koufos scored six points on 3 of 9 shooing in the game, and added seven rebounds, in a 114-104 win.
Analysis: Koufos can put up huge lines in the Nuggets' fast-paced offense; he has two games with at least 18 points and 10 rebounds in the last five games. Unfortunately, he has totaled just 16 points in the other three games in that stretch. Koufos is a useful Fantasy option at times, but his inconsistency makes him tough to rely on nightly. At this point, he remains more of a low-end option.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos had a great night in a win over Phoenix on Monday. Koufos played 26 minutes and missed only once to go 10 for 11 from the field for a career-high 22 points. The big man added 10 rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Koufos was on his game Monday but he's really been consistent with his field goal percentage since March began. He doesn't usually score a lot of points, but he's very efficient. If he could start rebounding more consistently, he'd become a must-have down the stretch. As it stands, Koufos has moderate Fantasy value in deeper formats.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos entered Tuesday's contest against the Kings shooting 63 percent in his previous five games. Koufos had another efficient night from the floor as he scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the 120-113 win. He also made all three of his free throws while playing 24 minutes. Koufos posted eight rebounds, an assist and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Koufos is averaging 9.5 points with 7.8 rebounds and and 1.3 blocks in the last five contests and has been playing well for the Nuggets of late. He usually does not log heavy minutes despite being a starter but his production could be helping out Fantasy owners with the playoffs approaching. At a thin position in Fantasy, consider Koufos a viable option in deeper formats.
News: Denver center Kosta Koufos started but saw just 14 minutes on Monday during a win over the Lakers. The Nuggets often went with a small lineup against the Lakers and Koufos shot 3 of 4 from the field to score eight points. He grabbed five rebounds and added a steal.
Analysis: Koufos has been seeing just over 20 minutes per night regularly for the Nuggets and is averaging under 10 points per game with just over six boards. With over a block per night, Koufos has plenty of Fantasy value in deeper formats as he plays a very thin position.
News: Denver center Kosta Koufos turned in a solid performance in front of his hometown crowd as he nearly picked up a double-double Saturday night at Cleveland. Koufos went 5 of 8 shooting from the field as he finished with 10 points and nine rebounds in a 111-103 victory. He also chipped in with an assist while logging 17 minutes of game action.
Analysis: After being held to single-digit scoring in each of the last five games Koufos bounced back in front of some hometown fans. The four-year pro out of Ohio State has struggled thus far in February. He is averaging 6.0 points and 7.3 boards per game while shooting 52.1 percent from the field over his first four games this month. Koufos is shooting 59.7 percent from the field this season and should continue to improve this month. Consider him a fine option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Denver center Kosta Koufos continues to improve and is surprising his coach, reports the Denver Post Sunday. "I can't deny I'm surprised," Nuggets coach George Karl said of Koufos. "I thought we were going to get a good, 20-minute basketball player. But I think he's moving into being better than that, more than that. Everybody's talking about Wilson (Chandler) being back. The guy that's causing me minutes problems is Kosta. He's got to be on the court more than I thought."
Analysis: Koufos has produced in a major way of late, especially for Fantasy owners in deeper formats. He plays the valuable center position and he's shooting 72 percent from the field over his last five games and over 60 percent for the season. Koufos is averaging 10.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and a steal per game over his last five and is averaging over a block per game on the year. His minutes continue to rise and he's become a valuable Fantasy option. He should probably be owned more widely than he is now.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos turned in a solid performance as he registered his fourth double-double of the season during Sunday's contest against the Thunder. Koufos went 5 of 7 shooting from the field and finished with 10 points and 11 boards in a 121-118 overtime victory. He also chipped in with a steal while logging 21 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Koufos had just three double-doubles last season and has already surpassed his previous career-high. The 23-year-old continues to pick up the scoring as of late and is averaging 9.8 points and 7.4 rebounds over his last five games played. Koufos is enjoying the best season of his career, and is starting to emerge as a useful Fantasy option. Consider him a viable option in deeper formats heading into Week 13 (Jan. 21-27).
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos scored as many points on Wednesday against the Thunder as he had in the previous two games combined. He finished with 16 points and hauled in nine rebounds in the 117-97 loss. He made all six of his attempts from the field and went 4 for 6 from the charity stripe while playing 25 minutes. Koufos also posted a steal in the defeat.
Analysis: Koufos has picked up his scoring of late as he is averaging 11 points in the previous five contests. He is also putting up 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals during that stretch while shooting a solid 64 percent. The 23-year-old is not considered the most consistent option in Fantasy but given his value at a thin position, keep Koufos active in deeper formats.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos surprisingly exploded against the Cavaliers Friday, leading the team to a 98-91 win. Koufos scored a career-high 21 points on 10 of 17 shooting in 35 minutes, while making his lone attempt from the free-throw line. He added six rebounds.
Analysis: Koufos production has increased recently, as he is averaging 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game over the last 10. His playing time has increased to 26.0 minutes per game in that streak, up from a season averaging of 22.9 per game. Koufos is enjoying the best season of his career, and is starting to emerge as a useful Fantasy option. Continue adding him in deeper formats.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos turned in one of his better shooting performances of the season during Thursday's contest against the Timberwolves. Koufos scored 16 points off the bench on 8 of 10 shooting from the field, and grabbed seven rebounds in a 101-97 defeat. He also added four steals, two blocked shots and a steal while logging 26 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Koufos doesn't shoot the ball much, but has a solid shooting percentage when he does let it fly. He is shooting 67 percent from field and averaging 10 points per game over his last two contests. Koufos has scored in double figures four out of his last seven games and is averaging 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds over that stretch. He can be a bit of an inconsistent scoring option, but if his scoring continues to increase, then consider adding the 23-year-old in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos turned a productive performance on Tuesday night against the Clippers. He matched his season high with 16 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the 112-100 loss. He went a perfect 8 for 8 from the field while playing 27 minutes. Koufos also chipped in with a steal and an assist while recording his third double-double of the season.
Analysis: Koufos is shooting 73 percent over the previous five games and is averaging 11 points with 8.8 rebounds during that stretch. All of that has come while seeing 25 minutes per night and the 23-year-old is starting to look like a reliable option in Fantasy. Keep an eye on his progress going forward but based on his recent production, consider adding Koufos in deeper formats, especially at a thin position in Fantasy.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos turned in another strong effort on the glass during Tuesday's contest against the Spurs. Koufos pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds to go along with four points in the 112-106 win. He made two of his six field-goal attempts and also added four blocks and two steals to his stat line.
Analysis: Koufos has performed about how most expected this season, which has been mediocre at best. He continues to see starts for the Nuggets at center but is only averaging 21.8 minutes per contest. He is averaging 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds on the season and should only be starting in deeper formats at this point in the season.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos was able to get back on the court for Denver's contest against the Pacers Friday night. Koufos, who missed the team's the previous game with an illness, finished with 12 points and five rebounds in the 92-89 win. He went 5 of 8 from the field while logging 21 minutes of game action in the victory. Hes never spectacular, coach George Karl said, but hes there every day, constantly working to improve.
Analysis: Koufos continues to see starts at center for the Nuggets, but is only seeing around 21 minutes per game most nights. While he is averaging 8.5 points and six rebounds over his last five contests, Koufous' everyday production has been way too inconsistent to start him in most leagues. Continue to roll with the 23-yead-old as more of a low-end reserve option at this point in the season.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos was ruled out of Wednesday's contest against the Hawks as he continues to deal with an illness. Koufos will be replaced by Timofey Mozgov in the lineup.
Analysis: Koufos is the starting center for Denver and is averaging 6.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game over his last five contests. He should return to the lineup at some point during Week 6 Dec. 3-9), so we'll continue to monitor his progress moving forward. Consider him a low-end option in most formats when healthy.
News: Denver center Kosta Koufos was a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest against Atlanta, reported the Denver Post. Koufos is dealing with an illness and ended up missing the game. He is day to day.
Analysis: Koufos has been starting for Denver and is averaging 6.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game over his last five contests. When healthy, he has low-end Fantasy value in most formats at the thin center position.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos remained in the starting lineup for Wednesdays game against the Timberwolves, but he continues to be ineffective in that role. Koufous scored six points on 3 of 6 shooting. He also grabbed eight rebounds and block three shots in a 101-94 loss.
Analysis: Koufos is averaging 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 22.5 minutes per game, as the Nuggets rarely let the big man play more than 25 minutes in a game. They are deep and dont have much need fo production from him, so Fantasy owners should consider Koufos just a low-end reserve option in the deepest of formats.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos could not get offensively during Saturday's contest against the Heat. Koufos, who took the start over Javele McGee, shot 1 of 4 from the field and finished with two points and four rebounds while logging in in a 119-116 defeat. McGee came off the bench and dropped 16 points and nine rebounds.
Analysis: Koufos had a solid rebounding night during the opener, but has yet to score more than 10 points this season. He has dropped 15 points and 19 rebounds overall through his first three games. Though he is the starter for now, he is not considered as a worthwhile Fantasy option.
News: The Nuggets started Kosta Koufos at center for the fourth time during the preseason Thursday, and coach George Karl told the Denver Post that he expects Koufos to begin the season in the starting lineup. Koufos will have beat out Timofey Mozgov and JaVale McGee in preseason for the starting role.
Analysis: Koufos started 24 games last season, but averaged just 6.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in those contests. Koufos has posted solid per-minute totals in his career, but the Nuggets fast-paced offense basically limits any of their big men to 20 minutes per game. Koufos will be the starter, but he will not monopolize the minutes. Leave him for just the late rounds in most Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
News: While Denver center Kosta Koufos was active and available on Wednesday against the Raptors after missing four straight games with a knee injury, the team did not turn to him in a 105-96 loss. Koufos received a DNP Coachs Decision in the loss.
Analysis: Prior to Wednesday, Koufos last played on March 19 against Dallas and failed to score with two rebounds over 17 minutes. Koufos can rebound, but doesn't often see enough minutes to matter in most Fantasy formats.

Analysis: Prior to Wednesday, Koufos last played on March 19 against Dallas and failed to score with two rebounds over 17 minutes. Koufos can rebound, but doesn't often see enough minutes to matter in most Fantasy formats.
News: The Denver Post reports that Denver center Kosta Koufos (knee) is still not ready to play. Koufos missed Monday's game at Chicago. Koufos has missed four straight games and is day to day going forward.

News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos was ruled out for Sunday's game at Minnesota because of a troublesome knee injury, according to the Denver Post. It was the third consecutive outing Koufos has missed because of knee tendinitis.
Analysis: Koufos hasn't been a major Fantasy contributor recently and has missed the majority of games this month. He has played in just four outings in March and topped double-figures only once. Fantasy owners should leave him untouched in all formats even when healthy.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos was ruled inactive for Friday night's contest against the Jazz due to a knee injury. Koufos is dealing with tendinitis in his left knee and has now missed two straight games because of it.
Analysis: Koufos has been dealing with knee issues for much of the season and it has once again flared up on him again. While Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward, the addition of JaVale McGee and a healthy Timofey Mozgov makes merely a low-end option when healthy.
News: Coming on the heels of the announcement that the Nuggets had traded center Nene to the Wizards, center Kosta Koufos returned to the lineup on Thursday, as the team needed depth in the front court. Koufas had missed the team's previous six games with a knee injury, however he played 16 minutes against the Thunder, scoring five points on 2 of 3 shooting with three rebounds, two assists and a block in the 103-90 loss to the Thunder.
Analysis: Koufos finally returned to the floor, however once Javale McGee joins the team, it will be interesting to see how the rotations work. McGee likely won't take up as many minutes as Nene did, so Koufos should see a slightly bigger role. However, he is unlikely to be a major contributor, so continue to consider him a low-end reserve option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Denver center Kosta Koufos (strained left knee) dressed for Tuesday's game against Atlanta but was not able to play. Koufos has missed the last six games for the Nuggets.
Analysis: Koufos isnt needed right now, as Nene has returned from a long layoff, so the team is being cautious with his recovery. At this point, Koufos will find minutes hard to come by when he returns, so even when healthy he should be considered just a low-end reserve for deeper formats.
News: The Nuggets will be without center Kosta Koufos for the fifth straight game on Sunday against Memphis, as he continues to deal with a strained knee. He is still considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Koufos isnt needed right now, as Nene has returned from a long layoff, so the team is being cautious with his recovery. At this point, Koufos will find minutes hard to come by when he returns, so even when healthy he should be considered just a low-end reserve for deeper formats.

Analysis: Koufos is being considered day to day with his injury, but his minutes are likely on the decline now that Nene is back. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. Koufos can be considered a low-end option in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Nuggets center Kosta Koufos became the latest Nuggets big man hit by injuries as he missed Sundays game against the Spurs with knee tendinitis.
Analysis: This injury is coming out of nowhere for Koufos, as he hasnt had any issues with it all year. It is likely that the injury is not serious, however Koufos owners will want to keep an eye on it, as he is a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Nuggets forward Kosta Koufos scored eight points on 4 of 6 shooting and grabbed six rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench on Thursday against the Spurs. Koufos would also add a steal and an assist in the game, which Nuggets would end up losing 114-99.
Analysis: Koufos has been playing a little more recently with the spate of injuries that have hit the Nuggets frontcourt. He is averaging 6.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in just 15.8 minutes per game over his last five. Koufos is showing Denver some good things in his limited playing time, however unless he sees a consistent bump in minutes played, he will remain just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Denver C Kosta Koufos has really improved his rebounding of late for the Nuggets. Koufos played 26 minutes in his last game on Saturday as he scored seven points on 3 of 4 shooting with seven rebounds. Koufos is averaging 7.4 rebounds per game over his last five. He's only averaging 4.6 rebounds per game on the season.
Analysis: Koufos has seen an overall increase in production of late with 8.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks while shooting 63 percent from the field over his last five games. Playing more and sometimes starting with Timofey Mozgov, Chris Andersen and Nene all injured, Koufos has become worthy of some Fantasy usage in the deepest formats. He's only currently owned in 9 percent of Fantasy leagues.
News: Denver center Kosta Koufos went off on Saturday night in Portland as he got the start in place of the injured Timofey Mozgov. Koufos scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in his 34 minutes of action. The big man shot 7 for 11 from the field and hit both his foul shots. Koufos added one steal and an assist in Denver's 117-97 loss.
Analysis: Koufos normally gets some minutes off the bench for the Nuggets, but will likely see an increase with Mozgov out. Despite his big outing, Koufos is still a backup center. Depending on how long Mozgov has to sit, Koufos may be worth grabbing off waivers in the deepest of category-based Fantasy formats.
News:The Denver Post is reporting that the Nuggets have signed C Kosta Koufos to a three-year, $9 million extension prior to Wednesday's deadline. The third year of the deal is a team option.
Analysis: Koufos is just 22 years old and has recorded some solid production when given the opportunity for the Nuggets. However he is playing just 10.3 minutes per game this season, giving him averages of 3.5 points and 3.6 rebounds. He's a solid backup center, however that role does limit his Fantasy value. Unless injuries occur to the players in front of him, Koufos is unlikely to have any Fantasy value moving forward.
News: Denver C Kosta Koufos recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds during the Nuggets' 110-83 victory over Sacramento on Wednesday night. Koufos drained 4 of his 6 attempts from the field, but shot just 2 for 6 from the free-throw line. He also had five turnovers in 24 minutes of playing time as he started his second consecutive game as C Nene was sidelined again with a foot injury. He also contributed a steal for the second outing in a row.
Analysis: Koufos took advantage of another spot start and posted his first career double-double. He has now totaled 18 points and 17 rebounds during his two appearances in the starting lineup while topping at least 19 minutes in each game. The 22-year-old will continue to receive starts as long as Nene is out and receive decent minutes. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end injury replacement if Nene is out an extended period.
News: Denver C Kosta Koufos started on Monday in a win over Milwaukee with Nene missing the game due to a heel injury. Koufos, who didn't see minutes in any of the previous three games for Denver, played 19 minutes and scored eight points with six rebounds. Koufos shot 3 of 4 from the field and blocked a shot.
Analysis: Koufos would be around those statistics consistently if he got minutes from the Nuggets. The youngster should start seeing more time on the floor. That said, once Nene returns he'll be limited if not completely unused. Koufos has just low-end Fantasy value for the deepest of formats for the time being.
News: Nuggets C Kosta Koufos had a big game in place of Nene, who was resting in the preseason closing 110-85 victory over the Suns. Koufos had 15 points and 11 rebounds in 25 minutes before fouling out. He added two blocks and a steal in the win. He was the only player to grab double-digit rebounds on the night.
Analysis: Koufos has barely played in his three-year NBA career, averaging just 8.7 minutes per game in 134 games. The seven-footer out of Ohio State has never averaged more than 4.7 points per game, and will struggle to find minutes in the Nuggets rotation this season as well. Theres talent here and hes still young, but it would be a shock if he plays a big role in the Nuggets season in 2011-12. Ignore him on Draft Day in all Fantasy formats.
News: Newly-acquired Nuggets Center Kosta Koufos made his debut with the team in Wednesday's win over the Bobcats. It was his first action as a Nugget since being included in the three-team, 13-player trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to New York. Koufos entered the game for the first time in the fourth quarter, finishing the night with two points and three rebounds in seven minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Koufos is now apart of a balanced Denver team with depth at every position, especially at center. With Nene and Chris Anderson seeing most of the minutes and fellow trade piece Timofey Mozgov ahead of him on the depth chart, Koufos shouldn't see playing time on most nights. Even in a blowout, he saw under 10 minutes of floor time with a minimal impact. Though he will have chances to ease into some role with his new club, we see him as nothing more than frontcourt depth. Koufos should be left on waivers in all Fantasy leagues for now.
News: Center Kosta Koufos is getting a change of scenery. The former Minnesota Timberwolves center was a late addition to the Carmelo Anthony trade, which sent him to New York. Denver sends a second-round pick to Minnesota in return for Koufos.
Analysis: In 39 games this year, Koufos was only getting eight minutes of action. He's averaging 2.7 points, 2.5 boards and shooting 43.5 percent from the field on the year. While he may get more court time in Denver, Koufos won't be worth grabbing off waivers. He's a low-end center and really isn't worth owning in any Fantasy format at this time.
News: Center Kosta Koufos, whose nose was broken a while back by an errant and accidental elbow from Martell Webster got hit in the head again Wednesday by Anthony Tolliver, according to the team's official website. This time his jaw got the brunt of the blow. There is something about Kostas head that has a magnet for contact, coach Kurt Rambis said. Koufos is good to play, but hell be wearing that clear mask for a while.
Analysis: Koufos has played in 29 games this season for Minnesota, but hasn't done much with his limited minutes. He's averaging 2.6 points, 2.4 boards and shooting 40.2 percent from the field. It doesn't seem like this mask will hinder his playing time, but it could affect his already poor scoring numbers. Fantasy owners should continue ignore Koufos in all formats.
News: Minnesota center Kosta Koufos posted five points in the Timberwolves' 103-88 victory over New Jersey on Saturday night. Koufos managed just eight minutes but was a perfect 2 for 2 from the field, and added four rebounds and a block.
Analysis: With starting center Kevin Love having an MVP-like season, Koufos has seen limited minutes for Minnesota. The third-year 7-footer is averaging just 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, and has yet to break the 10-point mark in a game this season. Leave him untouched on waivers in all Fantasy formats.
News: The Minnesota Timberwolves exercised their option on Kosta Koufos prior to Monday's deadline. Koufos will not be a free agent after the season.
Analysis: Koufos has played minimally in three games and does not appear to be a major part of the team's plans. Perhaps this move is a hint that a more significant role could be down the line, but he is not player we recommend owning in any format at this time.
News: Wolves C Kosta Koufos played Friday against the Bucks despite battling a bout of food poisoning. Koufos played just nine minutes off the bench, totaling four points and two rebounds. He also had two blocked shots and one turnover. Koufos has eight points and four rebounds in 17 minutes.
Analysis: Koufos probably would have benefited from a few extra years in college because he is still too raw of a talent for the NBA. He is buried on the depth chart in Minnesota and is not worth using in any Fantasy format.
News: According to NBA.com, Timberwolves C Kosta Koufos is dealing with food poisoning and is questionable for Friday's game against the Bucks. Koufos had four points and two rebounds in eight minutes in the season opener Wednesday.
Analysis: Koufos is looking like just the No. 3 center in Minnesota after Anthony Tolliver blew up off the bench Wednesday. He likely won't play enough minutes to make a significant impact in Fantasy.
News: The Timberwolves agreed to send Al Jefferson to the Jazz for two future first-round draft picks and center Kosta Koufos, the teams confirmed Tuesday. "With Kevin Love and Michael Beasley on the team, there wouldn't have been enough playing time for everybody to showcase Al," Timberwolves president David Kahn said in a conference call on Tuesday night.
Analysis: If there wasn't enough time for Jefferson, there certainly won't be for Koufos. He is a 7-footer, but is not going to be in a situation to play much in Minnesota and will remain a Fantasy afterthought.
News: The Jazz recalled C Kosta Koufos to their NBA roster Monday. Koufos had been playing with the NBDL Utah Flash.
Analysis: Koufos was added as extra roster insurance with Mehmet Okur under the weather. The seven-footer is not expected to see many minutes and is not a viable Fantasy option.
News: Jazz C Kosta Koufos was designated to the team's NBDL affiliate Monday. He appeared in 25 games this season.
Analysis: Koufos was getting just 3.4 minutes per game. He is not a factor in the team's rotation this year, but could be a long-term option in deep, deep keeper leagues. He is still somewhat of a project at the NBA level, but is a seven footer.
News: According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Utah C Kosta Koufos has been recalled from the Utah Flash because of injuries to Carlos Boozer (right calf) and Kyrylo Fesenko (left ankle).
Analysis: The second-year center has seen minimal minutes with the Jazz. Despite injuries to other players that could create play time for Koufos, he has no real Fantasy appeal and should be left off all Fantasy rosters.
News: According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Jazz C Kosta Koufos has been assigned to the team's NBDL affiliate, the Utah Flash. He has played only 76 minutes in 21 games for the Jazz so far this season.
Analysis: The second-year center was in need of some playing time and that was simply not available to him at the NBA level. Outside of injuries creating playing time for him down the line, he has no real Fantasy appeal and should be left off all Fantasy rosters.
News: The Utah Jazz have signed rookie point guard Sundiata Gaines for the rest of the season. Gaines has had two 10-day contracts with the Jazz, who said Monday he will be spending the remainder of the season with Utah. Gaines has been a fan favorite since his 3-pointer at the buzzer beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 14. He has played in seven games since the Jazz picked him up from the NBA Development League Idaho Stampede. The Jazz also said Monday they have reassigned reserve center Kosta Koufos to the Utah Flash of the NBADL.
Analysis: Koufos was never viable in Fantasy as a lightly-used bench player and now that he's in the NBADL he can be left off all Fantasy rosters.
News: The Jazz deactivated Jazz G Kyle Korver (knee) for Monday's game in Orlando. Kosta Koufos was activated in his place. Korver is considered day to day.
Analysis: Korver has said that he feels his knee is not 100 percent recovered and he could be forced to miss some more time. Obviously, he is not a player worth owning in most Fantasy leagues at this time. His days as a contributor in three-point shooting categories seem distant. Koufos will not be worth owning in Fantasy leagues as a lightly used bench player.
News: The Jazz exercised their third-year option on center Kosta Koufos, their 2008 first-round draft pick.
Analysis: Koufos is not yet a relevant Fantasy player and can continue to be ignored in nearly all Fantasy formats.
News: The Deseret News reports that Kosta Koufos was sent to the NBDL on Thursday. The Jazz recalled center Kyrylo Fesenko.
Analysis: Neither player is a regular part of the team's NBA rotation. Until that changes, neither should be owned in Fantasy.
News: Jazz C Kosta Koufos joined the Jazz on their upcoming five-game trip while G Morris Almond and C Kyrylo Fesenko were sent to the NBA Development League's Utah Flash. Koufos has found playing time scarce recently, but at least was on the active list Sunday.
Analysis: Koufos is not a relevant option in Fantasy play despite being back with the team. Almond and Fesenko obviously have no value at the moment as they are heading to the NBDL.
News: Utah rookie C Kosta Koufos played just 14 minutes in Monday's win over Indiana and failed to score in the game. Koufos did pick up five boards and a block. He was 0-for-3 from the field.
Analysis: Koufos has played fairly well over his last five games averaging 15 minutes per night. He's getting six points and six boards and can be used in the deepest of Fantasy leagues as a stopgap option for Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap when they are hurt.
News: Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap will miss seven to 10 days because of a sprained knee ligament. He injured his left knee Tuesday night in Milwaukee, but returned to play the second half in a brace. Millsap is scheduled for another MRI on Monday. Kosta Koufos got a boost in his absence Friday against Dallas, scoring a career high 18 points with eight rebounds.
Analysis: Millsap has been starting for Carlos Boozer, who has missed 18 straight games because of a strained quad tendon. Boozer's return is still not eminent and Fantasy owners should scurry to add Koufos off the waiver wire if he's available. He can be a short-term stopgap.
News: Utah rookie C Kosta Koufos started his second straight game for the Jazz on Wednesday night against the Wizards. Koufos, who totaled six points and five boards in his first start Tuesday, had 12 points and four boards in the game. He added a steal and a block.
Analysis: Koufos has been impressive for the Jazz as an unexpected contributor and starter but his numbers don't yet warrant ownership in Fantasy. Of course, as a starter, you might consider picking him up off waivers just in case he does start to blossom.
News: The Jazz are one of the two-game teams this week, but the two matchups come against sub-par defensive teams. The Nuggets gave up the second most points in the league last season and the Clippers gave up 101.1 points themselves. But the Jazz will be without their point guard for at least the first week, meaning they will have to cope with Ronnie Price, Brevin Knight and C.J. Wilson running the show.
Analysis: That could have a trickle-down effect to the rest of the offense in Week 1, but the must-starts, Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur, remain safe plays. Andrei Kirilenko is going to come off the bench in what could be a very suitable role for him as sixth man while Matt Harpring remains sidelined. He'll get to be top dog again with the second unit. C.J. Miles is going to start at small forward, but is not going to get many touches with the first group. Where Fantasy owners will want to look for other options is with the fringe options. Price, Knight and Wilson are going to spend the first two games sorting things out and whoever has the hot hand will play. That's too risky in Fantasy. Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver are very low-end options in a two-game week. Ronnie Brewer should be considered only in leagues that allow five guards.
News: The Utah Jazz signed first-round pick Kosta Koufos on Thursday to a contract that will pay him around $1 million a year.
Analysis: Utah drafted the 19-year-old center from Ohio State with the 23rd pick last month. Koufos played one season with the Buckeyes, then decided to leave school for the NBA. He will play for Utah's summer league team in the Rocky Mountain Revue, which the Jazz host July 18-25. He doesn't figure to get enough playing time as a rookie to be worth selecting in Fantasy drafts.
