News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee was able to get back on the court for Friday's contest against the Hawks. Lee, who had missed three straight games due to an ankle injury, logged just six minutes in the 118-107 win. He finished with two points, one rebound and one block during his limited minutes.
Analysis: Lee was finally able to get back on the court Friday, but admitted that he is far from 100 percent. Despite seeing a boost in playing time, Lee has continued to post pedestrian numbers for the Celtics. At this point in the season, only owners in deeper formats should consider rolling with the 27-year-old.
News: Boston guard Courtney Lee did not travel to Cleveland will miss Wednesday's game against the Cavaliers, reports the Boston Herald. Lee has an ankle injury and is perhaps hoping to return for Friday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: Lee might return for the next game against the Hawks, but since he didn't travel, he couldn't play against Cleveland. The guard has missed the last three games and is day to day. Lee sees plenty of minutes, but is still just a value in deeper Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee was ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Knicks due to a sprained left ankle, reports the Boston Globe. Lee, who has now missed two straight games with his ailment, officially remains listed as day to day, according to the team's official website.
Analysis: Lee was out testing his ankle prior to tipoff, but decided to give it a few more days at this point. The 27-year-old continues to see 30-plus minutes most nights with all the injuries Boston has been dealing with, but is averaging just 7.5 points and 2.5 assists over his last 10 tilts. At this point in the season, Lee only has value in deeper formats as a low-end option.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee was forced to miss Saturday's game against the Grizzlies, one day after suffering a sprained left ankle. Lee told reporters that he was feeling better earlier in the day, but ultimately was forced to sit out. He remains day to day due to the injury.
Analysis: Lee is averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game over the last 10, while shooting 49.2 percent from the field. He plays 30-plus minutes consistently when healthy, but his production leaves much to be desired. Keep an eye on his status moving forward, but Lee is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 22 (March 25-31).
News: Boston guard Courtney Lee, who had to be helped off the court against Dallas on Friday after mildly spraining his ankle, felt much better after the game than it first appeared, reports the Boston Herald. Lee plans to ice the ankle and hopes to play Saturday in Memphis.
Analysis: Lee scored just five points over 27 minutes on Friday before getting hurt. That said, he scored just five points for a full game the game prior in New Orleans. He's been consistently mediocre, when healthy, and has lower end Fantasy value.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee reached double figures in scoring for the first time in the month of March Wednesday against the Raptors. Lee scored 11 points on 5 of 10 shooting, with one three-pointer made. He added four rebounds, four assists and three assists in 39 minutes, in a 112-88 win.
Analysis: Lee averaged 10.3 points per game in the month of February, but was slumping so far in March. He is now averaging 6.9 points per game in seven March appearances, with 2.9 assists per game as well. Lees continued struggles make him more of a low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats.
News: Boston guard Courtney Lee overcame vision issues in his previous game to play against the Pacers on Wednesday night. Lee didn't complain of any eyesight problems but did shoot just 2 of 7 from the field over 32 minutes as a starter. Lee, who scored six points, grabbed four rebounds and added three steals for the Celtics.
Analysis: Lee has gone 4 for 14 from the field over his last two games and his shooting has struggled over his last handful of games. Not a very good scorer to begin with, Lee really posts minimal statistics worthy of usage only in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: The Boston Globe reports that Celtics guard Courtney Lee was poked in the right eye with 2:14 left in the third quarter Tuesday against the 76ers while attempting a jump shot and did not return. He said afterwards he had vision issues throughout the fourth quarter but it cleared up following the game, and he will play Wednesday against the Pacers .
Analysis: It sounds safe to keep Lee active against the Pacers on Wednesday, but continue to monitor his status prior to tip off. When healthy and active, Lee is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee was forced to leave Tuesday's contest against the 76ers after getting poked in the eye. Lee was poked in the left eye by Arnett Moultrie in the third quarter of the 109-101 win and was taken out of the game. He did not return to the contest, but told reporters after the game that he is fine. Lee finished with five points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals prior to leaving the game.
Analysis: Lee is expected to be fine moving forward, but the fact that he didn't return to the game raises a few eyebrows. However, that could also have been a coaching decision as Terrence Williams and Jordan Crawford played very well in his absence. Lee has been asked to take on a larger scoring roll with all the injuries Boston has dealt with and he entered Tuesday's tilt averaging 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals over his last five contests. Consider Lee a viable low-end option in deeper formats over the final few weeks of the season.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee was able to get his scoring back up into double figures during Monday's contest against the Jazz. Lee poured in 14 points in the 110-107 overtime win on 4 of 8 shooting from the field. He made one of his two attempts from behind the arc and also added five rebounds, three assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 33 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Lee has never been known as an offensive juggernaut, but he has stepped up his scoring in recent weeks. In fact, the 27-year-old is averaging 10.3 points over his last 10 games and has managed to score in double figures in five of those contests. While Lee may continue to light up the scoreboard from time to time, his overall production on the offensive end has been way too inconsistent to use him in most formats. At this point in the year, only owners in deeper formats should consider rolling with the fifth-year guard.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee turned in one of his more efficient offensive performances of the season during Tuesday's contest against the Nuggets. Lee scored 15 points in the 97-90 loss on 6 of 9 shooting from the field. He made two of his four attempts from downtown and also added four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals to his stat line, while logging 30 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Lee has been asked to pick up some of the scoring slack with all the injuries Boston has had to deal with and to his credit, he has stepped up his production a bit. The 27-year-old has managed to score in double figures in five of his last eight games and he is averaging 9.7 points over that span on 44 percent shooting from the field. Unfortunately that is likely as good as it is going to get from Lee as he has never been considered a consistent scorer. At this point in the season, owners should plan on using the fifth-year guard as more of a low-end option in deeper formats.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee turned in another solid performance as a starter during Thursday's contest against the Lakers. Lee went 6 of 12 shooting from the field, including 1 of 2 from downtown as he finished with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 116-95 victory. He also chipped in with a blocked shot while logging 22 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Lee continues to see a significant boost in minutes since joining the starting lineup after Rajon Rondo's season-ending injury. In fact, he is averaging 30.0 minutes and 12.3 points per game in February compared to 19.5 minutes and 8.4 points per game in January. The 27-year-old is shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from downtown over that span. Fantasy owners should consider him as a viable reserve option in deeper Fantasy formats for now.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee continued to start on Sunday against the Clippers now that Rajon Rondo is out for the season. Lee has taken over at shooting guard and had an OK game against L.A. Lee shot 2 for 6 from the field to score seven points as he hit a 3-pointer. He grabbed two rebounds and added two assists and two steals.
Analysis: Lee has contributed more consistently since Rondo went down as he's getting more minutes per night. He's hitting more 3-pointers and dishing out more assists than he's put up previously this year. The 27-year-old should continue to see this boost and Fantasy owners can utilize it in the deeper formats if they see fit.
News: Boston guard Courtney Lee was given a start on Sunday against Miami as Rajon Rondo is likely out for the season with a torn ACL. Lee did not play all that well in his start over 26 minutes as he was in the back court alongside Avery Bradley. Lee was just 1 of 7 from the field to score four points with two assists, a steal and a block.
Analysis: Lee has shown the Celtics some flashes with two 16-point efforts over his last five games. He could see a nice boost going forward with Rondo out, so Fantasy owners looking for a cheap source of scoring, 3-pointers and steals should consider him in deeper formats.
News: After being held to just four points his last time out, Celtics guard Courtney Lee got back on track as he turned in a productive performance during Friday's contest against the Hawks. Lee scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out four assists in a 123-111 double overtime defeat. He went 5 of 10 shooting from the field, including 1 of 4 from the perimeter, but a perfect 5 of 5 from the charity stripe. He also chipped in with two steals while logging 26 minutes of game action off the bench.
Analysis: Lee has been able to score in double figures just four times in January and has been an inconsistent producer in his first season in Boston. That said, he is starting to shoot the ball a little better and is averaging 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds over his last eight games while shooting 47.5 percent from the field over that span. While the 27-year-old has proved to be a decent source for 3-pointers in the past, his inconsistent production this season makes merely a low-end reserve option in deeper formats moving forward.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee scored more points on Sunday against the Pistons than he did in his previous two games combined. He finished with 16 points and three steals in the 103-88 loss. He went 6 for 12 from the field, including 2 for 5 from downtown, and converted both of his free throws. Lee also posted three rebounds and two assists while playing 27 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: After a resurgent campaign a year ago, Lee has been an inconsistent producer in his first season in Boston. He has looked better of late, however, as he is averaging 10 points with 1.6 steals in the last five contests. Lee is also shooting 48 percent during that stretch. While the 27-year-old has proved to be a decent source for 3-pointers in the past, his inconsistent production this season makes merely a low-end reserve option in deeper formats.
News: After turning in three straight underwhelming performances, Celtics guard Courtney Lee was able to get himself back on track during Friday's contest against the Rockets. Lee scored 14 points in the 103-91 win on 5 of 7 shooting from the field. He made two of his three field-goal attempts and also added three assists, one steal and one block to his stat line while logging 21 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Lee has moved back to the bench now that Avery Bradley is healthy, but the 27-year-old struggled in a reserve role. He had scored a combined 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting over his last three contests entering Friday's tilt and was averaging just 16 minutes during that span. While Lee has proved to be a decent source for 3-pointers in the past, his inconsistent production this season makes merely a low-end reserve option in deeper formats.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee turned in a solid performance as he led the way for the team off the bench during Friday's contest against the Pacers. Lee stepped and scored 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting from the field, including a 3-pointer in a 94-75 victory. He also added five rebounds, two assists and a steal while logging 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Lee has gotten back on track after being held scoreless on Dec. 30 against the Kings. He has managed double-figure scoring in six of the last 10 games. He is averaging 9.5 points on 51.9 percent shooting from the field over that 10-game stretch. He has picked up the scoring a bit as of late, but should still be viewed as a low-end option in deeper formats moving forward.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee made his third straight start on Tuesday night against the Bulls and came through with one of his better performances of the year. He scored a season-high 14 points while playing 23 minutes in the 100-89 loss. Lee went 7 for 11 from the field, missing his lone attempt from downtown, and also posted a rebound and an assist.
Analysis: Lee has been in and out of the starting lineup this season but is averaging 8.6 points in his previous five games and is shooting 50 percent over that span. The 27-year-old should continue to see around 20 minutes per night but based on his history, continue to view Lee as more of a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: The Boston Globe reports Wednesday that Celtics coach Doc Rivers has instructed guard Courtney Lee to be more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball. Lee has scored in double figures in two consecutive games after doing it just twice all year prior to that.
Analysis: Lee continues to struggle some with his shot, especially from beyond the arc. He is shooting just 6 of 25 from 3-point range on the year for the Celtics. That said, if he can get hot and starts getting more aggressive offensively, as Rivers is asking for, Lee could become a viable Fantasy option in deeper formats. For now he's more of a wait-and-see candidate.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee turned in a very productive performance during Boston's win over the Trail Blazers Friday night. Lee, who got the start at point guard in place of the suspended Rajon Rondo, finished with 10 points in the 96-78 win, on 4 of 10 shooting from the field. While he did miss on both of his 3-point attempts, he did added seven assists, five rebounds and three steals to his stat line.
Analysis: Lee went from Boston's starting two-guard to merely a reserve option in a matter of weeks, but played very well in his spot start Friday night. However, this was only the second time this season Lee has scored in double figures, which is all you need to know about what kind of year he is having. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with the 27-year-old as merely a low-end option in deeper formats at this point.
News: Celtics guard Courtney Lee has been unable to get going so far this season, as he is averaging just 5.7 points per game after putting in four in 19 minutes in a 107-89 win over the Raptors Saturday. Lee shot 2 of 5 from the field, without attempting a three-point field goal in the game. He did add a season-high four assists, with three rebounds and three steals.
Analysis: Lee is off to a very slow start, as he has made just three three-pointers through the first 10 games. He is still shooting 45.3 percent from the field, but he has struggled to find a place in the offense. Lee was expected to add some athleticism and shooting ability to the Celtics backcourt, but so far he has been an afterthought. Keep him reserved in all but the deepest of Fantasy formats at this time.
News: Celtics shooting guard Courtney Lee was barely involved on offense during Friday's contest against the 76ers. Lee was held in check as he dropped six points in a 106-100 defeat. He shot 3 of 5 from the floor and missed his only shot from downtown early in the first quarter. He also chipped in with three rebounds in just 19 minutes of action.
Analysis: Lee has been held to under 12 points in each game this season and has failed to crack more than 20 minutes of game action in his past two games. He has been splitting time with Leandro Barbosa and Jason Terry in the rotation and is still trying to find his role with his new team. He has more of a low-end Fantasy option in most formats for now.
News: Boston guard Courtney Lee debuted in green on Tuesday night in Miami. Lee started for the Celtics as he saw 24 minutes and missed only one shot all night. Lee went 5 for 6 from the field with a 3-pointer as he scored 11 points and added one assist and one rebound. He committed five fouls and that led to his limited minutes on the floor.
Analysis: The Celtics found a hot hand in Leandro Barbosa who went 6 for 8 off the bench and stayed with him down the stretch as Lee was dealing with foul trouble. Barbosa and Lee could fight for playing time but we expect Boston to favor the former Houston guard. As long as Lee keeps getting minutes, his value will grow in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: The Celtics finalized a sign-and-trade deal for free-agent guard Courtney Lee, in which they sent ETwaun Moore, JaJuan Johnson, Sean Williams and a second-round pick to Houston, as well as forward Sasha Pavlovic to Portland for the right to sign Lee to a four-year contract worth $21.5 million.
Analysis: Lee will likely be the primary option at shooting guard for at least the beginning of the season, while Avery Bradley recovers from shoulder surgery. He is coming off a season in which he averaged 11.4 points and 1.2 steals in 30.3 minutes per game for the Rockets, and he should see a similar role in Boston. He is still more of a low-end Fantasy option in most formats, so plan on targeting him in the later rounds on Draft Day.
News: After the end of the regular season, restricted free agent guard Courtney Lee told the Houston Chronicle that he is more than open to remaining with the Rockets this offseason. Id love to stay in Houston. I have little control over that. The only thing I can control is how I play every night and give 100 percent effort," Lee said. "The off-the-court stuff is up to the front office and owner. Id like to stay, but thats their decision. Houston is always going to be my first choice. Its up to those guys, if I get an offer, whether they match it or if they just come out and give me an offer. Lee, who is coming off his second season in Houston since being acquired prior to the 2010-11 season, is eligible for free agency, though the Rockets retain the right to match any contract he signs with another team this offseason.
Analysis: Lee saw his role grow last season for the Rockets, as he averaged over 30 minutes per game for just the season time in his career. He put up 11.4 points per game, while shooting more often from three-point range than ever before, hitting 1.5 shots per game at a 40.1 percent success rate. He is a multi-talented shooting guard who can defend three positions, so Lee should have plenty of suitors in free agency. Whether he returns to Houston or not, he is just a low-end Fantasy option, worth grabbing in the later rounds on Draft Day.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee took 13 shots but only hit four of them on Tuesday night in a loss at Dallas. Lee went 2 of 4 from 3-point range as he scored 10 points in the defeat. Lee played 36 minutes and grabbed three rebounds with an assist and a steal for Houston.
Analysis: Lee hasn't shot over 39 percent from the field in three straight games now, though he's seen a little boost in scoring of late with Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin injured. Lee will continue to see added run with both guards out. That said, Fantasy owners should consider the 26-year-old merely a low-end option at this point in the season.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee was able to find his scoring touch during Saturday afternoon's contest against the Clippers. Lee, who was once again starting in place of the injured Kevin Martin, finished with a season-high 25 points in the 95-91 win, on 9 of 14 shooting from the field. He went 4 of 9 from downtown and also added five rebounds and two assists to his stat line, while logging 40 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Lee continues to start in place of Martin and has thrived in his extra minutes. Unfortunately for Fantasy owners, his production off the bench continues to be sporadic, which is exactly where he will wind up once Martin returns. Fantasy owners should consider the 26-year-old merely a low-end option at this point in the season.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee just told reporters that he dislocated his finger and tore a ligament. He said he'll wear a splint to keep it straight and doesn't expect to miss any time. Lee got the start for the injured Kevin Martin again on Wednesday against the Bobcats. he scored nine points in his 33 minutes of action. Lee added one rebound and one assists in Houston's 107-87 win.
Analysis: Lee is averaging 11.0 points and 1.8 assists per game over his last five outings. Fantasy owners have to keep tabs on this finger issue to make sure it doesn't keep him out of any games. Also keep an eye on Houston on the trade front as they've been rumored to be in some potential moves. For now though, Lee is a low-end guard option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Rockets forward Courtney Lee was able to find his scoring touch during Tuesday night's contest against the Thunder. Lee, who made his third start of the season in the contest, finished with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field in the 104-103 win. He went 4 of 7 from downtown and also added four rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block to his stat line, while logging 41 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Lee earned a start on Tuesday night and took full advantage of his extra minutes. However, he has been seeing a healthy diet on minutes even when he comes off the bench, but has been a bit on the inconsistent side. The 26-year-old is averaging 10.6 points and 2.6 rebounds over his last five contests and is shooting 47 percent from the field over that stretch. Still, the playoffs now looming in most formats, consider Lee merely a low-end option at this point in the season.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee scored in double digits for the first time since Feb. 17 on Sunday against the Clippers. He finished with 13 points in 29 minutes off the bench during the 105-103 overtime loss. He was an efficient 5 for 6 from the floor, including making all three of his attempts from beyond the arc. Lee also posted two assists in the defeat.
Analysis: Lee continues to see consistent minutes off the bench for Houston but his production has been sporadic. He is averaging 7.4 points with 2.2 rebounds and an assist in his last five contests, and is shooting 40 percent from over that span. The 26-year-old is better known for his defense but as he showed a few years ago, he can score in double figures on a consistent basis when given the opportunity. Keep an eye on his progress and continue to view Lee as more of a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee saw his streak of four straight games of double-digit scoring end on Wednesday night versus Oklahoma City. He scored just two points versus the Thunder as he missed both his shots from the floor. Lee knocked down both his foul shots in his 14 minutes off the bench. He added a steal and three assists in Houston's 96-95 win.
Analysis: Lee's production has been much better recently, but he is directly linked to Kevin Martin. Martin has been struggling over the past week and Lee has stepped up his game when called on. Wednesday Martin was on, so Lee didn't get much court time. Over his last five games he's averaging 10.4 points, 2.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds per contest. For now, Fantasy owners should continue to view Lee as a low-end guard option in the deepest of leagues.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee scored in double figures for the third time in his last four games on Monday night against the Nuggets. He finished with 10 points and five rebounds in the 99-90 win. He went 4 for 8 from the floor, including missing his lone attempt from downtown, and converted both of his free throws. Lee, who played 28 minutes off the bench, also posted a steal and an assist in the victory.
Analysis: Lee has been able to do some more scoring so far this season and has picked up the pace of late. He is averaging 10 points with 2.2 rebounds and an assist in his last five games, and is shooting nearly 49 percent over that span. While his low-end scoring is decent in Fantasy, since he does not contribute in other categories continue to ignore Lee in all but the deepest of formats at this point.
News: Houston Rockets guard Courtney Lee says he wasn't injured when his car was struck by another vehicle after Saturday night's game against the New York Knicks. Rockets spokesman Nelson Luis said Sunday that Lee contacted a team security guard to tell him he was OK. Lee tweeted about the incident, saying he was thanking God and "thanking Cadillac for air bags!! Without them, I could have lost my life tonight and two others close to me." A Houston police spokesman told The Associated Press that the accident report wasn't available Sunday.
Analysis: Lee has started the last two games in place of leading scorer Kevin Martin, who's out with inflammation in his right heel. Lee scored 14 points in Houston's 97-84 win on Saturday night. Once Martin returns, Lee will go back to minimum Fantasy value. Lee is only a worthwhile Fantasy option in the deepest of formats.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports the Rockets will not offer contract extensions to Courtney Lee, Hasheem Thabeet, Terrence Williams, Jonny Flynn and Jordan Hill. All five players will be restricted free agents this summer.
Analysis: Lee scored in double figures for just the second time this season on Jan. 19. He did miss eight games with a calf injury and is now back to averaging about 25-27 minutes per game. But Lee is not a consistent enough factor for Fantasy owners, so continue to view him as a very low-end option.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee posted a new season high for points on Thursday night against the Hornets. Lee, who missed eight games with a calf injury, netted 17 points -- his most since the first game of the season. Lee shot 7 for 12 from the floor, going 2 for 4 from beyond the 3-point arc, and hitting one of his two foul shots. He also grabbed two boards, made three steals and had two assists in his 26 minutes off the bench. The Rockets would win the game in overtime, 90-88.
Analysis: Lee scored just six points in his return to the court on Tuesday, so it seems he's starting to find a groove. Coach Kevin McHale didn't dip into his bench too much on Thursday as Lee got the most minutes off the pine. Lee has the capability to put up nice scoring numbers in Houston, but doesn't do much else. Fantasy owners in the deepest category-based leagues should view Lee as a decent guard option.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee was cleared to play in Tuesday night's contest against the Pistons. Lee had missed the past eight games due to a calf injury. He returned for 16 minutes as he went 2 for 4 from the field to score six points. Lee hit a 3-pointer and added a rebound.
Analysis: Lee will likely be eased back into action, so Fantasy owner should see how he fares over a few contests before getting him active. When healthy, Lee can be considered a low-end option in deeper formats.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee has been cleared to play in Tuesday night's contest against the Pistons. Lee has missed the past eight games due to a calf injury.
Analysis: Lee is expected to finally get back on the court Tuesday night after missing nearly two weeks with his calf issue. However, he likely will be eased back into action, so Fantasy owner should see how he fares before getting him active. When healthy, Lee can be considered a low-end option in deeper formats.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee (calf) missed Monday's game at Washington. The Houston Chronicle reports that Lee hopes to return to action on Tuesday at home against Detroit. Lee is day to day.
Analysis: Lee could return in Tuesday's game, but the Rockets don't have much reason to rush him back to the court. While he has potential to provide a boost off the bench, he is too inconsistent for Fantasy owners. Consider Lee a low-end guard option in deeper leagues, when healthy.
News: For a seventh-straight game Houston guard Courtney Lee was sidelined with a right calf sprain. Lee is averaging 8.4 points per game this season. The team is considering him day-to-day.
Analysis: Lee seems like he's making progress, but there is no rush to get him back on the court. While he has potential to provide a boost off the bench, he is too inconsistent for Fantasy owners. Consider Lee a low-end guard option in deeper leagues, when healthy.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee (calf) was ruled out for Friday's game against Portland, according to the Houston Chronicle. It's the fifth consecutive game Lee has missed because of a calf injury and he remains day to day. Lee is averaging 8.4 points per game this season.
Analysis: Lee has the potential to produce off the bench, but he lacks consistency. The Rockets play four games during Fantasy Week 4 (Jan. 16-22) so he may be able to return during the scoring period. When healthy, Lee should be considered a low-end option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee has missed four games with a calf injury as he was inactive for Wednesday's outing against the Spurs. The Rockets host the Kings on Friday.
Analysis: Lee has the potential to score off the bench, but isn't very consistent. It doesn't seem like he's going to to Fantasy owners any good for this scoring period. Keep tabs on him heading into Week 4 (Jan. 16-22) as he may be ready to return. When healthy, Lee should be considered a low-end guard option in deeper leagues.
News: Houston G Courtney Lee did not play in Tuesday's game at Charlotte as he continues to be hampered by a calf injury. Lee has missed the past three games with the injury, but said Sunday he felt improved and was hoping to return against the Bobcats.
Analysis: Lee is listed as day to day with the ailing calf and will look to return to the Rockets' lineup at some point during their four-game set in Fantasy Week 3 (Jan. 9-15). Although he isn't a consistent player, he is a decent scoring option off the bench and typically manages 20 minutes per game. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end G option in deeper formats when healthy.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee is unlikely to play in Tuesday's game at Charlotte because of a calf injury, according to the Houston Chronicle.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee (sprained calf) said he felt much improved on Sunday, reports the Houston Chronicle. Lee said the muscle feels much better and that he hopes to return to action on Tuesday at Charlotte. "Im going day-by-day, but it is getting better," Lee said. "From the first day it happened in L.A. to now, at first I couldnt walk on it or do anything. I can walk normal now."
Analysis: Lee has missed the last two games and was an important player for the Rockets before getting injured. That said, he's getting just 22.2 minutes per game this year and averaging 8.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and an assist and 3-pointer per game. He only has low-end Fantasy appeal in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Houston G Courtney Lee was ruled out for Friday's game at Oklahoma City as he continues to be bothered by a calf injury, according to the team's official website. Lee suffered the injury during Tuesday's loss to the Lakers and will miss his second straight game.
Analysis: Lee said his latest setback is unrelated to the calf injury he dealt with during training camp and is considered day to day -- for now. This injury could linger over the weekend, but Lee wasn't a significant Fantasy contributor anyway. Continue to leave him untouched in all Fantasy formats.
News: Houston G Courtney Lee was ruled out for Wednesday's game at the Clippers after suffering a calf strain on Tuesday night. Lee left in the fourth quarter against the Lakers with the injury and had to be helped off the court. He said the issue is unrelated to his injury in training camp. "I have no idea what happened," Lee said. "I went to the hole, got ready to run back and then my leg just buckled and I went down. I didn't feel anything at the time, so I didn't know what it was. So I tried to get back up run again, and I couldn't."
Analysis: Despite missing Wednesday's outing, Lee is considered day to day moving forward and could be back in the lineup Friday. However, he hasn't been a huge Fantasy contributor early this season and his scoring output has decreased in every game since the season opener. Fantasy owners should continue to ignore him in most formats when healthy.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee left Tuesday's game against the Lakers in the fourth quarter due to an injury to his right calf. He went down late in the contest and had to be helped off the court. He finished with nine points on 3 of 7 shooting before the early exit. Lee also chipped in with five rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes off the bench. After the game, Lee told the Houston Chronicle that he might be able to play on Wednesday against the Clippers.
Analysis: Lee dealt with a calf injury to his left leg during the preseason but it looks as though this one will not keep him out for long. Keep an eye on his status going forward to make sure he plays on Wednesday. Lee is a marginal option in Fantasy, when healthy, so continue to ignore him in the majority of formats.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee will be with a team for two seasons in a row for the first time in his career, and hell look to bounce back after a disappointing first season in Houton. The bounce-back campaign didnt look to be on a great start in the preseason, as he averaged just six-points per game in two contests.
Analysis: Lees scoring tumbled in his third season, from 12.5 in 2009-10 to 8.3 in 2010-11. Much of that can be seen as the result of a drop in playing time, as he played 12 fewer minutes per game, but he is starting to reach a point where he needs to produce to earn playing time. Hes stuck behind Kevin Martin at shooting guard, but the Rockets did try to move Martin in the offseason. Lee has very limited Fantasy value given his backup status, but Martin is traded he could become a low-end option. Ignore him on Draft Day.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee has had an unusual three seasons in the NBA. After coming out of Western Kentucky, he's played for a different team in each of the three seasons. He was a rookie with the Magic, then played year No. 2 with the Nets after a trade before being dealt to the Rockets just before the season began. Still, Lee has produced on every club early on as a pro. He averaged 8.3 points per game this season as a reserve, though he busted out for 25 points in his only start of the season. Lee picked it up as the season progressed, and he ended up averaging better than 10 points per game from February on in.
Analysis: Lee has always been a score-first swingman, and he played in the same role off of the Rockets bench this season. After the trade deadline, though he was a part of rumors as well, Lee saw more playing time with the departure of Shane Battier. Unfortunately, Chase Budinger emerged as the starter moving forward eventually. Still, Lee had a solid year once again, as he continues to impact games with his quickness and leaping ability. Fantasy owners recognized him as a late-round selection in CBSSports.com leagues, and we envision him being drafted in a similar spot in the fall. Keep an eye on the Rockets roster just in case they bring another shooting guard-type in. Unless he's in line to see less minutes, Lee remains a low-end option next season.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee, who started for the injured Chase Budinger on Wednesday, scored a season-high 25 points versus the Warriors. "That's the one thing that coach emphasized today," Lee said. "He said the team that's going to win is the one that is going to get down and get stops. We were able to do that today." Lee shot 10 for 16 from the field -- connecting on 5 of his 8 shots from beyond the 3-point arc -- in his 42 minutes of action. He added two boards, two assists and two steals for the Rockets. Houston would go on to win the game, 131-112.
Analysis: Budinger is expected to be out a week, so Lee will have a few more games to produce for Fantasy owners and the Rockets. Over his last 10 games he's averaging 10.1 points, 2.9 boards and 1.0 steal per contest. Despite his solid game on Wednesday, the season is too far gone for Lee to have much Fantasy value. Owners in the deepest category-based formats should view him as a low-end option to finish the year.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets swingman Chase Budinger (ankle) is expecting to return "in like a week" after the mild-to-moderate sprain he suffered Sunday night against Utah. In his absence, Courtney Lee and Patrick Patterson could each see increased playing time.
Analysis: Lee played 40 minutes on Sunday, but was not able to convert that into much production. He shot 2 of 9 from the field and scored only eight points. The Rockets play just two games in Fantasy Week 22 (March 21-27), so his appeal would be limited to deep, deep average-based formats in the upcoming scoring period.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee has fueled the Rockets bench production over the last month, increasing his scoring production in the process. The trend continued Monday against the Kings, as Lee scored 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting. He was also a perfect 5 of from the charity stripe. Lee was just as solid on the defensive end of the floor, pulling down four rebounds, blocking a pair of shots for the second straight game and recording a steal in 31 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Lee has picked it up on both ends of the floor, citing the departure of Shane Battier as an opportunity for the younger players to step up. He set a season-high for blocks on Saturday, and duplicated it on Monday. On the offensive end, he's been shooting lights out from the floor. Lee has shot above 50 percent from the floor in 10 of the last 11 games, averaging more than 14 points per game in the span compared to his 7.9 points per game average for the season. Both Lee and the Rockets are benefiting from the youth-movement throughout the roster, and they have won eight of 10 games as a result with a shot at playoff basketball. Fantasy owners should utilize Lee as a low-end option in all formats while he's playing this well.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee got plenty of playing time on Tuesday as the Rockets faced the Pistons. He played most of the second quarter as Kevin Martin sat on the bench. Lee finished the game logging 22 minutes and scoring nine points. He shot 4 for 8 from the field, grabbed three rebounds and dished out an assist for Houston. The Rockets went on to win the game, 108-100. Lee missed his team's last contest prior to the All-Star break with pneumonia.
Analysis: Lee had been averaging around 17 minutes a game over his last 10 contests, so this extended action could be a way for Houston to showcase him to other teams. It's unclear if he'll be traded or not, but one things is known -- his Fantasy value isn't very high. He's averaging 9.0 points and 2.3 boards over his last 10 outings. Owners shouldn't pay too much attention to Lee at this stage of the season. He's a reserve guard option in the deepest of leagues right now.
News: According to the Houston Chronicle, Rockets G Courtney Lee was ruled out for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia due to a case of pneumonia. He is considered day-to-day going forward.
Analysis: The good news is that Lee will have the All-Star break to rest and recover. He has averaged just 17.1 minutes per game over his last 10 games, however, and has not been a very reliable Fantasy option as a reserve in Houston lately -- healthy or not.
News: Houston spread the minutes around on Monday night in a win over the Nuggets and guard Courtney Lee got some nice run. Lee played 26 minutes and took 14 shots in the game, hitting eight of them, including five 3-pointers, to score a team-high 22 points. He added six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot in the excellent all-around performance. The Rockets were a team-high plus-25 with Lee on the floor.
Analysis: Lee scored 23 points in a game against Minnesota on Feb. 8 over 29 minutes but put up just nine points over 19 minutes in the game in between. Averaging just 7.2 points per game over his last 10 contests -- and just 15.8 minutes per night over that span -- and we have to assume his last two were more aberrations. Until he plays like this more consistently, Lee will only have value in the deepest Fantasy leagues.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee scored a season-high 23 points in Tuesday's 112-108 loss to the Timberwolves. Lee shot 9 of 15 from the floor in the contest and was a perfect 4 of 4 at the free-throw line. He also chipped in with three rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Lee logged almost 30 minutes on Tuesday night and made the most of his time by scoring a season-high. Still, he usually only sees around 18 minutes a game, despite all the injuries the Rockets are dealing with in the frontcourt. He is averaging just 8.8 points over his last five contests and should only be considered a low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: Rockets backup swingman Courtney Lee played Tuesday with an apparent case of the flu against the Lakers. Houston lost in overtime as Lee saw his usual 17 minutes. He hit a couple threes en route to eight points and six rebounds. Lee also blocked a shot for Houston.
Analysis: Lee is getting just 18 minutes a game this year, despite all the injuries to the Rockets' backcourt. He's averaging 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. That is a career-low after he had his best year as a pro with the Nets last season, averaging 12.5 points per contest. Right now, Lee isn't worth starting in any Fantasy format and is only a low-end guard option.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee said he is feeling much better and will be active for Tuesday's game against Los Angeles, according to the team's official website. Lee has been dealing with flu-like symptoms for a few days.
Owners should keep him reserved, despite being deemed healthy.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee did not practice on Monday for the Rockets, reports the team's official site. Lee has flu-like symptoms and is day to day for the Rockets. Brad Miller also was not at practice on Monday.
Analysis: Lee and the Rockets play at the Lakers on Tuesday and have a poor three-game schedule in Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) that includes road games against the Jazz and Lakers. It doesn't seem as if Lee should miss much time, if any, in the scoring period, but even one missed contest could prove costly for Fantasy owners. Because of his injury and the poor scheduling for the week, we'd keep Lee grounded. He's only worth using in the deepest of Fantasy leagues anyway, when healthy. Lee has only scored in double figures once in his last five games and is averaging just over 15 minutes per game over that span.
News: Rockets SG Courtney Lee has failed to score a point in each of his last two games against the Hawks and Bucks. Lee has averaged just 12 minutes over his last three contests, seven minutes below his season average.
Analysis: With the Rockets getting a little healthier lately, Lee hasn't been needed as much. He will continue to see some action behind Kevin Martin, but Lee certainly isn't worth using in Fantasy play right now. Continue to stash him away in deeper formats if you can afford to.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee's scoring struggles continued in Monday's 108-102 win over the Celtics. Lee scored just eight points in the contest on 2 of 7 shooting from the field. He went just 1 of 3 from behind the arc and grabbed three rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Lee has been a very streaky player over his career and that pattern has continued this season in Houston. When things are going well for Lee, he really thrives, however, right now he is struggling to score. Lee is only averaging 6.0 points over his last five contests and is shooting just 2 for 10 from behind the arc over that stretch. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy option, who is only worth owing in deeper leagues until he can produce more consistently.
News: After three straight 12-point outings, Houston guard Courtney Lee has cooled off to the tune of three total points in the last two games. He finished with the second-lowest total of the year in Friday's loss to the Magic, posting just one point. Lee shot 0 of 6 from the field, and scored the lone point on a free throw. He added an assist and a block while tying a season-high with six rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
Analysis: Lee has the ability to streak with points in spurts, but he has the same ability to go bone dry from the floor, as he has in the last two contests. Still, with the way the season has gone for Houston, Lee will likely continue to play a good amount of minutes. Consider him a marginal Fantasy option only in deeper leagues.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee recorded 12 points and five rebounds in the Rockets' 114-105 victory over Toronto on Friday night. Lee connected on 5 of his 8 shots in 24 minutes to post his highest scoring total in the last seven games. The third-year guard had also reached 20-plus minutes only once in his seven previous games before Friday.
Analysis: Lee added two assists and two steals to help Houston to its ninth win in its last 10 home games. He has not been a huge factor during the season and is averaging 7.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He has scored double figures in just 10 games while averaging under 20 minutes of playing time. Consider him a marginal Fantasy option only in deeper leagues.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee came off the bench to finish in double figures in scoring for the third time in his last four games on Wednesday against Oklahoma City. Lee scored 12 points in the loss at the Thunder and shot 4 of 6 from the field and 2 for 2 from long range over 27 minutes. He added just one assist and one rebound.
Analysis: Lee is averaging 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and almost a 3-pointer per game over his last five. He's good for a 3-pointer per night but the rest of his game leaves a lot to be desired in Fantasy. He's not really worth using at this time.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee scored 16 points off the bench in the Rockets' 97-91 loss at Milwaukee on Friday night. Lee connected on 7 of 10 shots -- including both attempts from 3-point range -- in 28 minutes of action, his second-highest total of the season. Lee chipped in three rebounds and two assists in Friday's game.
Analysis: Lee continues to receive a sufficient amount of playing time in the Houston lineup and is averaging 22.8 minutes in his last five games. Despite the decent amount of time, Lee isn't contributing much this season -- just 7.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season. Friday's game also marked only his seventh game of the season with double digits in scoring. He is a marginal Fantasy play in most formats and should considered only an option in deeper leagues.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Rockets coach Rick Adelman said Monday that Ishmael Smith has been removed from the team's rotation for the time being. Jermaine Taylor will move ahead of him on the depth chart with Courtney Lee serving as backup point guard to Kyle Lowry while Aaron Brooks (ankle) remains sidelined.
Analysis: Do not expect much out of this for Lee. Brooks could be back as soon as the weekend and we expect Lee to continue to see around 20-25 minutes per game with spotty double-digit scoring performances. He is a very low-end play in Fantasy whose best asset to Fantasy owners is his decent 3-point shooting.
News: Rockets G Courtney Lee had another efficient performance on Saturday night against the Bulls. He went 3 for 4 from the field, including 2 for 2 from downtown, and finished with nine points in 24 minutes during the 119-116 overtime loss. He also converted his lone free-throw attempt. Lee chipped in with four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the defeat. He is averaging 11.5 points over his last four contests.
Analysis: Lee has been seeing solid minutes off the bench for Houston lately and should continue to do so while Aaron Brooks (ankle) is injured. While he probably won't put up the 12.5 points per game he did with New Jersey last season, he is a mainstay in the Rockets rotation. Although he has been shooting well lately, continue to view Lee as a low-end option in deeper Fantasy leagues heading into Week 7 (Dec. 6-12).
News: For the fifth time in six games, Houston guard Courtney Lee was held under 10 points in the Rockets' 99-89 loss to the Bobcats on Friday. Lee played just 18 minutes Friday after averaging 21 in his last two games.
Analysis: Lee shot 2 of 3 from the floor for the cold-shooting Rockets, who made just 41.8 percent of their shots on the night. Lee added a rebound and an assist but turned the ball over two times for the second consecutive game. He carries only marginal Fantasy value in most leagues and not worth a spot on your roster.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee had a very solid performance on Monday night in a loss to the Suns. Lee played 20 minutes and shot 7 for 14 from the field, including going 2 for 6 from deep, to score a season-high 16 points. He added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Analysis: Lee has only been in double figures in a few games this year and shouldn't be expected to produce like this consistently. He has just low-end Fantasy value at this time.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee's struggles continued in Tuesday's 95-92 loss to the Bulls. Lee played just 14 minutes off the bench and finished with just two points. He scored both of his points at the free-throw line and had four turnovers and one assist in the defeat.
Analysis: Lee has averaged just six points in 16 minutes over his last five contest and so far the loss of Aaron Brooks hasn't translated into any increase in production. He has the ability to score the basketball, but has never really been given a chance to in his young NBA career. Fantasy owners should leave him on the bench in the majority of formats until he sees an increase in minutes and production.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee saw significant playing time on Saturday against San Antonio. Both Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin left with injuries, leaving the door open for Lee. He logged 30 minutes in the overtime loss and scored 11 points. He shot 5 for 12 from the field -- 1 for 3 from downtown -- but missed both free-throw attempts. He grabbed five rebounds, had an assist and a steal for the Rockets.
Analysis: Lee was averaging 7.5 points and shooting 47.6 percent from the field prior to Saturday's outing. If Brooks and/or Martin are out for an extended amount of time, Lee will be one of the players leaned heavily on. Owners that can grab Lee off waivers may want to take a flier on him as a low-end No. 4 guard option. He can score, but has never really been given a chance to in his young NBA career. Continue to monitor this situation as Lee could become an impact player. When the other guards are healthy, however, Lee is just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: The Rockets have decided to pick up their fourth-year option on SG Courtney Lee, according to the Houston Chronicle. Lee is averaging 9.5 points in 19.0 minutes in two games this season.
Analysis: Lee was a decent contributor in Fantasy last season as a starter for the Nets, but he's just a role player in Houston. He might provide some cheap steals in categorical leagues, but that's it.
News: Houston guard Courtney Lee didn't get much time on the court in the season-opening loss to Los Angeles. Lee played 15 minutes and scored eight points on 4 of 9 shooting. He missed both threes he attempted and added three steals. The Rockets were minus-14 when Lee was in the game.
Analysis: Lee scored a decent amount of points and the three steals in 15 minutes can't be beat. That said, Houston played poorly with him on the floor and that is not going to make them want to keep him there. Right now Lee only has low-end value in Fantasy and needs to be monitored before used even in deeper leagues.
News: Rockets guard Courtney Lee missed all three of his 3-point attempts in Saturday's preseason win over the Pacers, but made 6 of his 10 shots from the field. He got three rebounds -- two offensive -- three assists and had a steal.
Analysis: Lee was traded to the Rockets from the Nets during the offseason in a five-player, four-team trade. Lee averaged 12.5 points in 71 games for the Nets last season, including 66 starts. He shot 43.6 percent from the field last season and gives the Rockets a solid shooter off the bench. Guard Kevin Martin is slotted as the starter, but if he gets injured again or is traded Lee's stock will rise quick. Fantasy owners should view Lee as a nice reserve player to be targeted in the late-rounds on Draft Day. He has an upside, so keep an eye on him.
News:Courtney Lee was traded from the Nets to the Rockets as part of a four-team, five-player deal. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said their involvement in the trade was mostly about the opportunity to get Lee, a 6-5 guard whom they've coveted since the 2008 draft. "We really target players who we think will fit in well here over time," Morey said. "When we got our first chance to acquire him, we were fairly aggressive to get that done. He's very versatile."
Analysis: Lee, acquired from Orlando on draft night in 2009 in the Vince Carter deal, averaged 12.5 points in 71 games for the Nets last season, including 66 starts. He shot 43.6 percent from the field last season and will likely back up shooting guard Kevin Martin with the Rockets. This puts a serious damper on his Fantasy appeal, but Lee could still get a chance to shine this fall with Martin being such an injury-prone player.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee scored 19 points Monday against the Spurs after failing to score more than 12 points in the previous four games. Lee shot 7 of 13 from the field while grabbing six boards and collecting a steal in 36 minutes. The 19 points was Lee's highest scoring output over his last five contests.
Analysis: Lee is averaging 11.4 points and three rebounds over his last five games. His consistency continues to keep from Fantasy owners from inserting him into their lineups. Until he is able have solid performances on a more frequent basis, Lee is just a low-end Fantasy option at this point.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee scored 15 points in a loss to the Heat on Monday. Lee shot 6 of 11 from the field while hitting two 3's and collecting a rebound and an assist. It was the first time Lee reached double figures in his past four games.
Analysis: Lee has seen a drop-off in production over his last five games, averaging just 9.6 points and two rebounds over that span. Until he is able to show some sort of consistency, Lee can be considered a low-end Fantasy option.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Nets G Courtney Lee returned to form after a two-game slippage that might have been caused by a sprained thumb. Lee had enjoyed the best four-game stretch of his career (104 points) before he shot a combined 6-of-21 in two games that produced 10 and six points. But Saturday in Houston, Lee was back on target, hitting 10 of 14 shots and scoring 24 points.
Analysis: The Nets play three games during Fantasy Week 21 (March 15-21). As long as he appears healthy, Lee is a must-start Fantasy option in all formats.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee shot 13 of 20 from the field and hit two 3-pointers on Monday night in a loss at Memphis. Lee scored 30 points and added five rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Lee has scored 25 and 30 points, respectively, in his two games since returning from a sprained ankle. He continues to start and play well for the Nets and has become a solid Fantasy option in any format.
News: New Jersey G Courtney Lee returned to the Nets lineup Saturday after missing the previous three games with an ankle injury. Lee added 25 points in a win over the Knicks. Lee shot 9 of 16 from the floore, and hit consecutive 3-pointers to put the Nets up 16 with just over six minutes to go. He also added four rebounds.
Analysis: Now that Lee is back and appears to be healthy, Fantasy owners should immediately have him ready for Fantasy Week 20 (March 8-14) where the Nets play four games.
News: Nets starting shooting guard Courtney Lee missed his third straight game with a sprained left ankle Friday against Orlando.
Analysis: Prior to his injury, Lee had been averaging 20.3 points per game in his previous three contests. When he returns to the lineup, Fantasy owners should immediately insert him back into their rotation.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports Nets guard Courtney Lee (sprained ankle) did not practice Thursday. Coach Kiki Vandeweghe said it's "doubtful" that Lee will play against Orlando on Friday. Lee who has missed the past two games with the injury.
Analysis: Even though Lee would like to play against his former team it sounds like his coach will keep him on the bench. Be cautious when setting your lineup in daily leagues and keep Lee reserved to be safe.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee did not play in Wednesday's game against Cleveland due to an ankle injury. It was the second straight game he's missed. Chris Douglas-Roberts again replaced him in the starting lineup.
Analysis: Lee's injury couldn't come at a worse time for Fantasy owners. In his previous four games, he averaged 19.5 points and 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists; 15.5 points and 4.3 rebounds for the entire month of February. Hopefully he will resume where he left off once he returns to the lineup, as he had become a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the team's official Web site, Nets G Courtney Lee (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday night's game against Cleveland. He will once again be replaced by Chris Douglas-Roberts in the starting lineup.
Analysis: Lee had been playing very well prior to the injury and he carries some Fantasy appeal as a No. 3 or 4 guard, depending on the size of your league. He averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in his previous four games prior to getting hurt. Douglas-Roberts has seen most of his early-season Fantasy appeal fade away. He had just four points and three rebounds in 31 minutes of action starting for Lee Sunday against Washington.
News: Shooting guard Courtney Lee missed the New Jersey Nets' game with the Washington Wizards on Sunday because of a sprained left ankle. Lee hurt the ankle on Saturday in a win against the Boston Celtics.
Analysis: Chris Douglas-Roberts replaced Lee in the starting lineup. Lee has been playing well lately, scoring 20-plus points in back-to-back games. His injury makes him a risky play for the upcoming scoring period, considering the Nets won't have to make a decision on him playing or not until this upcoming Wednesday. Start him at your own peril in larger formats.
News: Nets shooting guard Courtney Lee tied two other players for game-high honors on Tuesday night with 28 points. Lee could not help the Nets beat the Blazers despite shooting 11 of 18 from the field and 4 for 4 from 3-point range. He added six rebounds.
Analysis: Lee was fantastic in the loss to the Blazers and is averaging 16 points, 4.4 rebounds, a steal and a three per game over his last five. Overall, his numbers aren't overly impressive, but they are generally consistent enough to warrant using Lee in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee scored 12 points in a loss to Memphis on Sunday. Lee shot 6 of 16 from the floor in 39 minutes while bringing down five rebounds. It was the fourth time in his last five games that he has scored in double figures.
Analysis: Lee is averaging 12.6 points per game over his last five contests while bringing down 4.2 rebounds. The numbers aren't overly impressive, but they are generally consistent enough to warrant using Lee in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The second half of the NBA season started differently for the Nets. They actually won a game. Winning for the fifth time all season, the Nets beat the Bobcats in Charlotte on Tuesday night, 103-94. Guard Courtney Lee played extremely well in the game and scored 21 points on 7 of 11 shooting. He hit a three and added five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Analysis: Lee has seen 35 minutes per night over his last five games and that is bringing 15.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and a steal and three per contest. As long as he's contributing at this high a level, Lee can be used in the deeper Fantasy leagues. He should not be used in 10-team formats, however.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee scored 24 points in Tuesday's loss to the Cavaliers. In 38 minutes he shot 9 of 15, 1 of 2 from 3-pointers. He added seven rebounds, four assists and one steal.
Analysis: Lee is rebounding this month after seeing his averages dip to 10.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in January. Through five February games he's back up to 14.8 points and 4.4 rebounds, scoring at least 10 points in four of those contests. He is once again becoming a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee has averaged 10.8 points per game over his last five games. In those five games, Lee had a high of 15 points and a low of 4 points.
Analysis: Lee has been consistently inconsistent this year. That doesn't bode well for Fantasy owners in standard leagues. But because Lee has the potential to post double figure numbers, he provides Fantasy value in the deepest of leagues.
News: Nets guard Courtney Lee managed 14 points in a loss at Toronto on Wednesday night. The guard shot 50 percent from the field at 6 of 12 and nailed two threes. He added four rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Lee has hit five threes in his last two games and is averaging 14.5 PPG in those contests with five steals and 4.5 boards. Lee scored 19 points four games back and is becoming a viable Fantasy option once again in deeper leagues. Sure, he'll do little at times but he's played well in three of his last four games and that counts for something.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee scored 15 points in Tuesday's loss to the Pistons. In 33 minutes he shot 5 of 9 from the field, including 3 of 4 from downtown. He added five rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block.
Analysis: Lee's playing time was reduced by an average of five minutes a game from December to January, and as a result his production went down too. He went from 13.1 points and 4.2 rebounds to 10.3 points and 2.9 rebounds. Due to his diminished numbers he only has Fantasy value in deeper leagues.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee (tooth) scored 19 points as the Nets fell 81-79 to Washington. Lee played 29 minutes shooting 8 of 12 from the field and he hauled in three rebounds in the losing effort.
Analysis: Lee usually sees around 30 minutes per game and can crack double figures in scoring on a regular basis. He doesn't offer much outside of that, but can be a viable stopgap measure in deeper leagues thanks to the regular playing time.
News: According to the team's official Web site, Courtney Lee (tooth) said that he is feeling "good to go" Friday prior to the team's game against Washington. He will re-join the team's starting lineup against the Wizards after missing Wednesday's game following a tooth removal.

News: New Jersey Nets starting guards Devin Harris and Courtney Lee missed Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Harris missed his second straight game with a sprained right wrist. Lee was not feeling well after surgery to extract a wisdom tooth. Keyon Dooling took over at the point guard and Chris Douglas Robert moved from small forward to the shooting guard spot. Trenton Hassell started as the small forward.
Analysis: Lee should be back for New Jersey's next game with his ailment. Lee scored just five points in his last outing at Utah but was in double figures in three straight before that. He's averaging 11.1 points, 3.4 boards and 2.0 assists on the year for New Jersey and is viable in deeper leagues, when healthy.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee scored 17 points on Friday in a loss at Golden State. With the Nets losing point guard Devin Harris to an injury in the game, Lee stepped up and shot 6 of 13 from the field and 3 of 6 from deep. He added six rebounds and three steals.
Analysis: Lee has scored in double figures in three straight games now and could improve on that if Harris is out for any extended length of time. The Nets do not have a favorable schedule in Week 14 (Jan. 25-31) however, so now is not the time to begin taking chances on starting Lee if you weren't already.
News: Nets guard Courtney Lee had a monster game on Friday in a loss at the Hornets. Lee poured home 28 points for the Nets on 8 of 14 shooting as he nailed five three-pointers. Lee added 7 for 7 from the free-throw line and grabbed two rebounds with six assists. He added two steals.
Analysis: Lee had not even scored in double figures in his previous three games for the Nets but went off against the Hornets. The 28 points one-ups a previous season-high for the former Western Kentucky standout. Lee is definitely beginning to peak in terms of Fantasy value for the Nets and Fantasy owners but this is also bad news for Week 12 (Jan. 11-17). Although Lee looks like a solid option in at least all deeper leagues right now, New Jersey plays just two games in Week 12. That means you are probably better off keeping him on your bench.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee failed to score in double figures Wednesday night against the Hawks. Lee finished with nine points and three rebounds. This makes the fourth time in his last eight games that Lee has not scored in double figures.
Analysis: Averaging 11 points and just under five rebounds in his last eight games, Lee does not make for a major threat in most Fantasy leagues. However, he might add some value in a deeper league.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee scored 20 points in Wednesday's loss to the Timberwolves. It was his first 20-point game since Dec. 4. He also added six rebounds.
Analysis: Lee had only been averaging 13.7 points in his last three games before Wednesday, so it's good to see him back on track. However, until he shows some more consistency he remains only worth using in deeper leagues.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee scored just 7 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists Saturday against the Lakers. He is averaging just 10.8 points and 3.0 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Lee continues to get 30-35 minutes per night and 10-plus shots per game, but his production is far too erratic to trust in most Fantasy formats. He's a player who will likely be on and off Fantasy rosters all season.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Chris Douglas-Roberts was scratched for Sunday's game against Atlanta due to a sprained left knee that he likely suffered Friday against Indiana. He is awaiting the results of an MRI. An extended absence for Douglas-Roberts could mean a Fantasy boost for Courtney Lee and Terrence Williams.
Analysis: Douglas-Roberts will now be a risky play for Week 8 (Dec. 14-20) as a result of this news. The extent of the injury will not be known until the MRI results are revealed and while the Nets do play four games in Week 8 the lack of a guarantee he'll play in any games this week makes him someone to reserve for healthier alternatives. Lee and Williams become interesting sleepers for Week 8 as a result of this news.
News: Nets G Courtney Lee had 27 points in his best gam of the season Friday against the Bobcats. He has scored at least 13 points in his last three games with four or more assists in each contest.
Analysis: Lee re-joined the starting lineup Friday and likely won't be leaving the first unit after this performance. He is a good three-point shooter who has the potential to play a big role on a Nets team in need of offense. Take a flier on him while he's hot.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee, still working his way back from a groin injury, had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals in 32 minutes off the bench Wednesday against the Mavericks. He had 15 points, five rebounds and three assists last time out.
Analysis: Lee isn't the kind of player who'll average 20 points per game, but with all the steals he gets, he only needs to average a dozen or so to make a contribution in Fantasy. Treat him as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee was back on the court Tuesday at Denver after missing the previous seven games because of a groin injury. He had his time closely monitored, playing 22 minutes off the bench. He finished with seven points, three rebounds and two assists, but he played excellent defense as always, recording six steals.
Analysis: Lee will return to the starting lineup sooner or later and go back to averaging 12-plus points per game. He's worth adding as a No. 4 Fantasy guard, especially in categorical leagues, where his steals are especially useful.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Courtney Lee returned for a full practice Monday for the first time since suffering a groin injury earlier this month. "I'm full-go," Lee said."I'm good."
Analysis: The report added that coach Lawrence Frank was less emphatic, unsure if Lee would play on Tuesday against Denver. "Obviously, he wants to play," Frank said. "And we'll see. And he'll be coming off the bench to start." Use the upcoming scoring period to determine where Lee will fit in with the team returning to full strength. Keep him reserved.
News: New Jersey SG Courtney Lee (groin) missed his 7th straight game on Saturday in a loss to the New York Knicks. Lee is day to day and could return for the Nets' next game which comes Tuesday at Denver.
Analysis: Lee has gotten to practice some lately, but he still might be a game or two away. He had begun to come around as a scorer for the Nets before the injury, and he's also a good source of steals. He's worth stashing as a No. 4 Fantasy guard. We would not recommend his use in Week 5 (Nov. 23-29) despite New Jersey playing a favorable four-game schedule.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee missed the game Wednesday against Milwaukee with a groin injury. This was his sixth straight missed game. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Lee has gotten to practice some lately, but he still might be a game or two away. He had begun to come around as a scorer for the Nets before the injury, and he's also a good source of steals. He's worth stashing as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee missed his fifth straight game with a strained left groin Tuesday against the Pacers. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Lee has gotten to practice some lately, but he still might be a game or two away. He had begun to come around as a scorer for the Nets before the injury, and he's also a good source of steals. He's worth stashing as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: New Jersey SG Courtney Lee did not play on Saturday at Miami with a strained left groin. He is considered questionable for Tuesday against Indiana.
Analysis: Lee was on the practice floor early Tuesday and was originally happy with his progress, but after cooling down, he felt the same pain that originally forced him out of the game at Philadelphia last Friday. Fantasy owners should keep him out of active Fantasy lineups until he proves healthy and productive again. That includes Week 4 (Nov. 16-22).
News: New Jersey SG Courtney Lee did not play on Friday at Orlando with a strained left groin. He is considered questionable for Saturday at Miami.
See if he plays on Saturday before making a decision on him for Week 4 (Nov. 16-22).
News: New Jersey SG Courtney Lee did not play, as expected, on Wednesday against the 76ers with a strained left groin. He is day to day.
Analysis: Lee was on the practice floor early Tuesday and was originally happy with his progress, but after cooling down, he felt the same pain that originally forced him out of the game at Philadelphia last Friday. Lee will continue to get treatment and consult a specialist and will try to return Friday at Orlando, his former team. Fantasy owners should keep him out of active Fantasy lineups until he proves healthy and productive again.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Courtney Lee (groin) is "probably a scratch" for Wednesday night's game against Philadelphia. That makes him doubtful for the game.
Analysis: Lee was on the practice floor early Tuesday and was originally happy with his progress, but after cooling down, he felt the same pain that originally forced him out of the game at Philadelphia last Friday. Lee will continue to get treatment and consult a specialist, but he agreed that an extra day of rest might be more beneficial. Fantasy owners should keep him out of active Fantasy lineups until he proves healthy and productive again.
News: Nets SG Courntey Lee was held out of Saturday's game against the Celtics due to a groin strain he suffered on Friday at Philadelphia. He is considered questionable for Wednesday against the Sixers.
Analysis: Lee's injury is not expected to be too serious, but Fantasy owners certainly need to weight their options for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). Lee is a decent contributor for the team in his first season with the Nets, averaging 11.8 points per game and 2.2 assists. He is certainly an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period and is just a low-end option to begin with. Thbe safe play is to bench him.
News: New Jersey lost guard Courtney Lee early in the third quarter of Friday's game against the Sixers with an apparent leg injury. He is questionable for Saturday against the Celtics. Lee scored eight points and had two assists in 22 minutes of action before the injury.
Analysis: The Nets are already decimated with injuries and adding Lee to the list is just adding insult to injury. Lee is a decent contributor for the team in his first season with the Nets, averaging 12.6 points per game and two assists. He is a decent sleeper in Fantasy but could be an injury risk for Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). Wait to see if he plays on Saturday before making a decision on him.
News: The Nets have exercised contract options on starters Courtney Lee, Brook Lopez and Yi Jianlian for the 2010-11 seasons. The Nets on Thursday also declined to exercise the fourth-year contract option on forward Sean Williams, the team's first-round draft pick in 2007 and the 17th pick overall. The options that the Nets picked up on Lopez and Lee were for their third seasons. Lopez will earn $2.41 million, while Lee will get $1.34 million. The option on Yi is for his fourth season and it will earn him just over $4 million. Williams would have earned $2.5 million had the team pick up his fourth-year option.
Analysis: Lee should make a solid contribution in 3-pointers and steals, but the exact amount he'll score for the depleted Nets is up in the air right now. He's a candidate to step up and fill the void, but until he actually shows signs of it, he's nothing more than a sleeper in Fantasy.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee, taking the departed Vince Carter's place in the starting lineup this season, had five points, three rebounds and two assists in the season opener Wednesday at Minnesota. He shot only 2 for 11 from the field.
Analysis: Lee should make a solid contribution in 3-pointers and steals, but the exact amount he'll score for the depleted Nets is up in the air right now. He's a candidate to step up and fill the void, but until he actually shows signs of it, he's nothing more than a sleeper in Fantasy.
News: Nets guard Courtney Lee had 17 points, two assists, two steals a rebound and a block in Friday's preseason game against the Knicks. Lee is averaging 16.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists through three preseason games.
Analysis: Lee is expected to take on a big role for the Nets this season as the team looks for scorers without Vince Carter to rely on this year. For that reason, Lee is a prime candidate for a breakout campaign after a promising rookie year last year with Orlando.
News: Nets SG Courtney Lee, who missed some time earlier this preseason with a foot injury, started against the Celtics on Tuesday and led the team with 21 points on 7 of 12 shooting, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. He also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Analysis: Lee is replacing Vince Carter in the starting lineup and stands to inherit a good chunk of his points simply because the Nets have few other options. His upside is limited, but he's worth drafting late as a sleeper.
News: For the Nets, Keyon Dooling, Eduardo Najera and Courtney Lee were all held out of the team's first preseason game against the Knicks with minor injuries. They are all considered day to day.
Analysis: Lee is dealing with a foot injury and is not expected to miss much time. He was traded for Vince Carter in the offseason and is expected to play a significant role this season. With the Nets not having many scoring options outside of Devin Harris and Brook Lopez, there is room for Lee to step up. Consider him a sleeper in Fantasy.
News: After taking his physical with the New Jersey Nets Tuesday following his trade, Lee met with Nets head coach Lawrence Frank. Lee told reporters he could play a big role with the Nets next season. "I was a scorer in college and scoring has always come natural for me," Lee said. "In Orlando, I knew my role wasn't going to have to be strong on the offensive end, so I focused on defense. I didn't have a starring role in Orlando. Now, I'm coming to a different place and I have a bigger opportunity."
Analysis: Lee could start at shooting guard with Devin Harris at the point or could come off the bench as the team's sixth man and top scoring option off the bench. He will have some real sleeper value in the late rounds on a team that will be looking for scoring options.
News: In a trade that sent SG Vince Carter and SF Ryan Anderson to the Magic on Thursday, the Nets acquired PG Rafer Alston, SG Courtney Lee and PF Tony Battie.
Analysis: Lee could start at shooting guard with Devin Harris at the point or could come off the bench as the team's sixth man and top scoring option off the bench. He will have some sleeper value in the late rounds on a team that will be looking for scoring options.
News: The New Jersey Nets are in talks to send Vince Carter to his home town of Orlando and the Eastern Conference champion Magic, a person with knowledge of the talks tells The Associated Press. Working on a major draft-day deal for the second straight year, the Nets are prepared to send Carter and forward Ryan Anderson to the Magic for point guard Rafer Alston, shooting guard Courtney Lee and power forward Tony Battie, said the source, who requested anonymity because the deal was not finalized.
Analysis: The Nets already have a very solid point guard in Devin Harris, but the Nets could use both guards in the offense with Harris a very solid scoring option who will have to take on a bigger offensive load with Vince Carter out of the picture. Lee could start at shooting guard with Harris at the point or could come off the bench as the team's sixth man and top scoring option off the bench. He will have some sleeper value in the late rounds on a team that will be looking for scoring options.
News: Magic SG Courtney Lee returned for the Magic with a protective mask on Saturday in a Game 3 win over the Celtics after missing the first two games of the series recovering from a fractured sinus. He finished with 11 points in 32 minutes.
Analysis: Lee had been in the starting lineup before getting injured but J.J. Redick was in the starting role instead. He will be a low-end option heading into the 2009-2010 season.
News: Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said after Friday's morning shootaround that Courtney Lee will be back in the lineup for Game 3 against the Boston Celtics but will not start.
Analysis: Orlando's starting shooting guard missed the first two games of the series recovering from a fractured sinus and will have to wear a protective mask. J.J. Redick is expected to start in his place.
News: Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said guard Courtney Lee, who is recovering from a fractured sinus, didn't seem ready to play in Wednesday's shootaround. "I really, right now, don't know," Van Gundy said. Lee missed the game and is now listed as questionable for Game 3 at Orlando on Friday.
Analysis: Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Lee will be OK and ready for next season. The injury doesn't appear to be serious enough that it should hold him back from being ready for Game 3, but keep an eye on his status. When healthy, Lee is a low-end Fantasy option in all scoring formats.
News: Magic SG Courtney Lee was not active for Game 2 against the Celtics on Wednesday, a game in which Boston evened the series at one. J.J. Redick got the start for the Magic. Lee is questionable for Game 3 at home in Orlando but could play after dressing for Game 2.
Analysis: Lee dressed Wednesday and appears to be just fine for the rest of the series. That's good news because the Magic need him and because he looks like someone who could make a nice impact on Fantasy next season. When healthy, Lee is a low-end Fantasy option in all scoring formats.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee might suit up Wednesday night for Game 3 against the Celtics. It is still likely he will not play six days after undergoing sinus surgery, but there remains a chance he could see some action. "He has done very, very little and he's trying to get used to that mask," coach Stan Van Gundy said. "I would be very surprised if you see him."
Analysis: Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Lee will be OK and ready for next season. The injury doesn't appear to be serious enough that it should hold him back from being ready for Game 2, but keep an eye on if he can return for this game or Game 3. When healthy, Lee is a low-end Fantasy option in all scoring formats.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee arrived just before the team meeting ended Tuesday and said he "hopes" to play in Game 2 against the Celtics on Wednesday night. Lee is recovering from sinus surgery, performed last Thursday in Philadelphia, and hasn't played since being injured last Tuesday in Game 5 against the 76ers. Lee is expected to try to participate in the team's shootaround Wednesday morning. J.J. Redick started in his place in Game 1, scoring 12 points and helping hold Ray Allen to nine as Orlando won the opener 95-91.
Analysis: This is a turn of events since Lee wasn't expected to join the team in Boston. For now, keep an eye on his status before the game, but don't look for him to do much if he does play. Hopefully he can be 100 percent before the end of the playoffs, and it sounds like he will be fine for the start of next season.
News: Magic G Courtney Lee is expected to miss at least the first two games of the series against Boston while recovering from surgery to repair a fractured sinus. He sat out Game 1 and is expected to miss Game 2. The earliest he could return is Game 3 at home against the Celtics.
Analysis: Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Lee will be OK and ready for next season. The injury doesn't appear to be serious enough that it should hold him back from being ready, but keep an eye on if he can return during the playoffs and what happens in the offseason.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee did not play in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Celtics on Monday, a Magic victory. He was ruled out for the game after suffering a fractured sinus cavity last Tuesday when he was hit by teammate Dwight Howard with an elbow. Lee' status for Game 2 is very much in doubt, though he's been cleared to play.
Analysis: When Lee does return, he'll wear a protective mask. He averaged 12.6 points in five games against Philadelphia. Lee has become an improved Fantasy option for Orlando this season. He will enter next year as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Starting guard Courtney Lee will not travel with the Orlando Magic to Boston as he recovers from surgery on his fractured sinus. Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said before the team left Sunday that he hoped Lee would fly up to Boston with a team doctor Monday to watch Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Celtics. Lee did not attend the Magic's practices this weekend. Lee was injured in Game 5 of Orlando's first-round series against Philadelphia on an inadvertent elbow by teammate Dwight Howard. Lee will have to wear a protective mask if he returns. Van Gundy said he does not expect Lee back anytime soon and if he plays at all this series, it would be a "bonus."
Analysis: Lee has become an improved Fantasy option for Orlando this season. He will enter next year as a No. 4 Fantasy guard. We don't expect him to log any minutes in the semifinal series with the Celtics.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee, knocked out of the Magic's quarterfinals series against the Sixers by Howard's inadvertent elbow to the head, had surgery on his fractured sinus Thursday and coach Stan Van Gundy said it was possible the guard could possibly be out two more weeks. J.J. Redick started in his place.
Analysis: This injury is not something that should continue to effect Lee down the road and shouldn't effect his status looking ahead to the 2009-2010 season.
News: Magic guard Courtney Lee is expected to have surgery on his fractured sinus and could miss the remainder of the playoffs. The Magic said Thursday that Lee will be out for the rest of the team's first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Magic lead the Sixers 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 is Thursday night. Lee suffered the injury after taking an inadvertent elbow to the head from teammate Dwight Howard in Game 5 on Tuesday night. The recovery time is at least a week depending on the outcome of Thursday's surgery. J.J. Redick will likely start in Lee's place.
Analysis: Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Lee will be OK and ready for next season. The injury doesn't appear to be serious enough that it should hold him back from being ready, but keep an eye on if he can return during the playoffs and what happens in the offseason.
News: Starting guard Courtney Lee will miss Game 6 of the Orlando Magic's playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Magic said Wednesday that Lee had a fractured sinus after taking an elbow to the head from teammate Dwight Howard in Game 5 on Tuesday night. Lee's status for the remainder of the playoffs is uncertain. Howard soared to block a shot by Willie Green in the first quarter and inadvertently came down on his teammate. Lee was taken to a hospital as a precaution. The Magic lead the Sixers 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 is Thursday in Philadelphia.
Analysis: Lee could return for Game 7 if needed, but hopefully this is just a minor injury and won't affect his Fantasy value for next year. When healthy, Lee has become an improved Fantasy option. He will enter next year as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Orlando guard Courtney Lee left Game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night after taking a blow to the head. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Lee took an elbow to his head from teammate Dwight Howard early in the first period. Howard soared to block a shot by Willie Green on the play and came down on his teammate. Lee was on the floor for a few minutes before going to the locker room with a towel to his head. Orlando won Game 5 91-78. The Magic said the starting shooting guard's status for Game 6 is questionable.
Analysis: Lee, a rookie from Western Kentucky, averaged 15.7 points through the first four games of the playoffs. Lee averaged eight points per game this season for Orlando. He's likely to be a low-end option in Fantasy heading into next season.
News: With Dwight Howard (rest), Hedo Turkoglu (ankle) and Rashard Lewis (knee) out for the Magic on Monday at Milwaukee, rookie guard Courtney Lee led the way with 17 points. He also added three rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: CBSSports.com NBA writer Ken Berger writes in his recent column that Lee is one of the few rookies starting for a playoff team this season. Lee has been solid for Fantasy owners as a low-end option, and he could finish the regular season strong with the Magic dealing with injuries and trying to rest players for the playoffs.
News: Magic rookie guard Courtney Lee had five points, four rebounds and one assist Tuesday at Houston. Lee played 31 minutes, but he could get some extra playing time with Mickael Pietrus out for the game and questionable for the rest of the season.
Analysis: Lee has played well this year, but he's a low-end Fantasy option at best. For now, only use Lee in deeper formats for the rest of the season even if Pietrus is out.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee missed only two of his eight shots on Monday night at New York as he scored 22 points to lead the Magic to victory. Lee nailed two threes and added three rebounds and two assists. He also had three steals.
Analysis: Lee has scored in double figures in four straight games and is averaging over a three per game in that span. He's a little too inconsistent and one dimensional to use in anything but deeper Fantasy leagues, however.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee started and played 31 minutes against Cleveland on Tuesday and scored 19 points. Lee was 9-of-13 from the field with a three and he added a steal.
Analysis: Lee will play more minutes from time to time and can occasionally produce in the scoring column. He's a little too inconsistent and one dimensional to use in anything but deeper Fantasy leagues, however.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee was thought to possibly be replaced by Mickael Pietrus in the Magic rotation on Monday, but he remained in the starting lineup and scored 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting. He added two rebounds and an assist.
Analysis: If Pietrus does end up taking over for Lee in the starting role on Monday, then Lee will likely lose any Fantasy value he currently retains. While starting, he's only a very low-end option reserved for the deepest of leagues.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee attempted a team-high 12 three-pointers on Saturday against the 76ers in a 106-100 win in which the Magic set the franchise mark (37) for the most triples attempted in a single game. He made four of the threes he attempted as the team went 15-of-37 in the come from behind win.
Analysis: Mickael Pietrus has been injured off and on, but came in off the bench on Saturday against the 76ers. The Magic probably don't want to see him jack up 12 threes too often, but they can't argue with 18 points scored in the game. Lee remains only a low-end player reserved for deeper leagues.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee started on Sunday in place of Mickael Pietrus, who was out with an injury, and scored 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Lee hit four threes and added three dimes and three rebounds. He did commit five fouls but had two steals in 32 minutes.
Analysis: Lee will continue to start with Pietrus out, but that shouldn't last very long. He'll go back to the bench with him back and he'll go back to being just a low-end Fantasy player for the deeper leagues.
News: The Magic put Mikael Pietrus back in the starting lineup but on Wednesday Courtney Lee looked like the much better option vs. the Clippers. Lee scored 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting, including going 3-for-3 from deep. He added four assists, three boards and a steal in 31 minutes.
Analysis: Lee shot almost perfectly on Wednesday and you can't possibly expect that to continue. He's averaging 12 points per game over his last five but he doesn't do much else besides shoot threes and that keeps him a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee scored 11 points and added three three-pointers in Super Bowl Sunday's win over the Raptors in Toronto. Lee was 4-of-9 from the field over 32 minutes in the starting lineup and added two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Lee has posted double figures in scoring in two of his last three games as he's seeing an increase in minutes with Mickael Pietrus still playing from the bench. Pietrus could return to the starting lineup shortly, however, making Lee less valuable in Fantasy. You may consider using Lee in Week 15 (Feb. 2-8) with Orlando playing a favorable 4-game schedule but we'd only do that in deeper leagues as Pietrus could start again quite soon.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Magic G Courtney Lee, the rookie starter, was awful and seemingly out of place against the Celtics on Thursday. Lee missed all five of his shots and played only 18 minutes.
Analysis: Lee had looked pretty solid in the starting role before the game against the Celtics on Thursday. He had put up double digits in his three prior games before this dud. He is pretty locked in as a starter for the time being and should be picked up in deeper leagues.
News: Magic G Courtney Lee had 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists Friday at the Lakers. He also added three steals and two threes in 38 minutes. He has scored at least 11 points in four of his last five games.
Analysis: Lee, who is available in 96 percent of CBSSports.com leagues, is locked into the starting shooting guard spot for the Magic and should retain it as long as he can put up numbers like this. Fantasy owners can do worse in a pinch when looking for a stopgap at guard.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic coach Stan Van Gundy has declared Courtney Lee the team's starting shooting guard until further notice. "We're planning on right now that Courtney's our starter," said Van Gundy. "I never say never to making changes anywhere, but right now it's not going to be an in-or-out thing. That's the way we're going to go right now.
Analysis: Lee has played 25-plus minutes in three of his last four games, but continues to be erratic with his production. Fantasy owners should consider taking a flier on him only in deeper leagues for now. The minutes will be there, but the shot attempts aren't always consistent. He offers decent three-point shooting and minutes, that's about it right now.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee got another start on Sunday at San Antonio in favor of Keith Bogans who made his return from injury. Lee scored five points and had three assists in the game.
Analysis: Lee hasn't done much in the starting role in Orlando and you'd have to believe he won't be starting much longer over Bogans. He is a long-term stashee option but little else at this point even though he is starting for the time being.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee played 28 minutes on Tuesday night against Washington for his first career start in the NBA. With Keith Bogans still missing time with an ankle sprain, Lee scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting with two threes. He added three rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Lee's first start was fairly uneventful but he did contribute on a few big shots for the Magic victory. He's scored in double figures twice over the past five games and will likely continue to see minutes with Bogans hurting but his numbers still don't warrant adding him in 10 or 12-team leagues just yet.
News: Orlando SG Courtney Lee played 27 minutes on New Year's Eve against the Bulls after Keith Bogans injured himself in the game and was a big contributor for the Magic. Lee scored 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting with a three and added three assists and two steals.
Analysis: Lee has bookended 12-point nights between three duds over his last five games. He's averaging just 5.4 points in 26 games this season and plays about 20 minutes per night. His stats just don't jump off the page enough to warrant gobbling him up in Fantasy leagues right now.
News: A game after breaking out for 19 points, Magic G Courtney Lee scored just six points in 10 minutes off the bench Friday against Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Lee is getting a chance gor a bigger role with Mickael Pietrus out for the next few weeks due to injury. He has some upside, as he showed by shooting 8-for-10 from the field with three treys in the 19-point game, but is still in an erratic role with J.J. Redick getting the starts. Stash Lee in larger leagues, but he's not yet a recommended starter.
News: Magic rookie SG Courtney Lee, getting extended minutes because of injuries to starters Jameer Nelson and Mickael Pietrus, scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range, Wednesday against the Timberwolves. He also had four rebounds, three assists and three steals in 34 minutes.
Analysis: Lee's previous career high was six points, which shows just how much the Magic worked him into the rotation before Wednesday's game. He might continue to offer decent totals off the bench while Nelson and Pietrus remained sidelined, but he won't have many games like this one. Leave him on waivers except in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Orlando Magic guard Mickael Pietrus will be out three to five weeks because of a torn ligament in his right thumb. He hurt his thumb against Philadelphia last week. Pietrus played with the injury against the Wizards on Thursday but an MRI revealed the damage Friday. J.J. Redick and Courtney Lee should see more playing time in his absence.
Analysis: Pietrus averages nearly 13 points and is one of the Magic's main 3-point shooters. The injury leaves an already thin Magic backcourt even thinner. The Magic are already missing backup guard Keith Bogans because of a broken thumb, and starting point guard Jameer Nelson is nursing a pulled groin. Stash Pietrus and think about adding whomever emerges out of Redick and Lee in the short term. Redick is expected to start for now.
News: Magic backup guard Keith Bogans will be out from four to six weeks because of a broken thumb on his non-shooting hand. Bogans was injured during the Magic's game against Houston on Saturday. The 6-foot-5 Bogans, who has been the Magic's top sub during their strong start, has averaged six points in 24 minutes a game. His 36 percent 3-point shooting has helped open the inside game for All-Star center Dwight Howard. With Bogans out, J.J. Redick, Anthony Johnson and rookie Courtney Lee will get more time backing up starters Jameer Howard and Mickael Pietrus.
Analysis: Redick, Johnson and Lee have minimal Fantasy value at this time, but it is worth keeping an eye on which guard will emerge with Bogans out. For now, ignore all three in most leagues, but continue to monitor the box scores throughout the next month
News: Magic SG Courtney Lee, who didn't play much in the first two weeks of the season, has learned that good defense can at least keep you in good standing with the coach, reports The Sports Xchange. Since Lee made three steals in a seven-minute span during a blowout victory against Oklahoma City on Wednesday, he has appeared in every game.
Analysis: Lee hasn't seen many minutes in those games, though, and until that trend continues, he'll remain a bottom-of-the-barrel Fantasy contributor better left on waivers in most leagues. He just has too many players ahead of him on the depth chart.
News: In Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2), the Magic will play three teams that allowed at least 100 points per game last season, which would indicate a positive start for them in Fantasy.
Analysis: Mickael Pietrus will be the team's sixth man off the bench, but let him show what he can do before activating him. Bottom rung options like Keith Bogans, Courtney Lee, Anthony Johnson and J.J. Redick should be reserved.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Courtney Lee, the No. 22 pick in the draft from Western Kentucky, has been spending time at point guard during training camp.
Analysis: Lee was drafted as a shooting guard, but he is hoping that his versatility can make him more valuable. He had five points and a rebound in Tuesday's preseason opener against Atlanta and still seems to be a bit of a project.
News: Magic General Manger Otis Smith said Friday that he isn't worried about rookie Courtney Lee getting lost in the shuffle this season, even as he joins a virtual traffic jam of shooting guards on a roster that includes Hedo Turkoglu, free agent signee Mickael Pietrus, veteran Keith Bogans and J.J. Redick. "We know that's not a problem," Smith said. "He's one of the most mature rookies that I've been around in a long time. We'll probably play 10 guys at the most, but most teams carry 15, so you really have to keep the guys mentally engaged.
Analysis: Lee had a productive summer-league run that showcased his scoring and defensive skills against the likes of Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant. "He knows how to play with other players, but now he has to find that balance of being aggressive instead of a being a guy that just moves the ball," Coach Stan Van Gundy said. Monitor his progress in the preseason to see where he'll fit into Orlando's rotation.
News: The Orlando Magic signed first-round draft pick Courtney Lee on Thursday. The 6-foot-5 guard from Western Kentucky will receive about $1 million in each of his first two pro seasons. NBA rookie salaries are preset by a league scale based on when they were chosen.
Analysis: The Magic took Lee with the No. 22 pick in last week's draft. Lee is expected to play next week in the six-team NBA summer league the Magic are hosting. Monitor his progress over the summer and in the preseason to see where he'll fit into Orlando's rotation.
