Pekovic misses finale

News: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic was hoping to return Wednesday for the team's season finale, but he will miss his fourth game in a row with a left calf contusion. Pekovic has missed 20 games this season, after missing 19 a year ago.
Analysis: When healthy, Pekovic has established himself as a viable starting option at center for any NBA team. His skill set should create a big market for him as a restricted free agent, but it would be a surprise if the Timberwolves let him walk. He is averaging 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, despite playing just 31.6 minutes. No matter where he lands, Pekovic is going to be a starter, so plan on targeting him with a mid-round pick on Draft Day next season.

Pek wants to play in finale

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic missed his third straight game Monday against the Jazz as he continues to nurse a left calf contusion. Pekovic remains listed as day to day with his injury and is hoping to play in Wednesday's season finale against the Spurs, reports the team's official website.
Analysis: Pekovic has had some injury troubles of late as he has missed 12 of the team's past 26 games due to a variety of different ailments. However, he has been extremely productive when has been on the court -- especially recently. The 27-year-old is averaging 21 points and 8.7 rebounds over his last seven games on 59 percent shooting from the field. He is slated to be a restricted free agent over the summer, so the T'Wolves may have to fork over a pretty penny to keep him. Fantasy owners should plan on spending an early-to mid-round pick for his services next fall.

Still no Pek for T'Wolves

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic was ruled out for Saturday's contest against the Suns due to a left calf contusion. Pekovic has now missed two consecutive games with his issue, but remains listed as day to day, according to the team's official website.

Pekovic sits with calf issue

News: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic was ruled out for Friday's contest against the Jazz due to a left calf contusion. Pekovic is being listed as day to day with his issue, according to the team's official website.
Analysis: Pekovic has had some problems staying healthy lately, but has remained very productive when he has been on the court. The 27-year-old has averaged 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds since the All-Star break on 55 percent shooting from the field. Pekovic can be considered a high-end option in all formats when healthy.

Pekovic back in action

News: As expected, Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic was able to get back on the court for Monday's contest against the Celtics. Pekovic, who was forced to miss Minnesota's win over the Thunder last Friday due to a sprained left ankle, finished with 29 points in the 110-100 win. He went 9 of 15 from the free-throw line and also added five rebounds, one steal and one block to his stat line, while logging 41 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Pekovic has been cleared to return to action, which should be a welcome sight to Fantasy owners. The 27-year-old is now averaging 22 points and 11.8 rebounds on 58 percent shooting from the field over his last four games and should be available for all four of the T'Wolves scheduled games this week. Fantasy owners should plan on getting Pekovic active in all formats this week.

Pekovic lands on sideline

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic was ruled out for Saturday's contest against the Grizzlies due to a sprained left ankle. Pekovic sustained the injury during Friday's win over the Thunder, but there has been no timetable announced for his return, reports the Star Tribune. He has now missed 16 games on the year.
Analysis: Injuries continue to decimate the T'Wolves as Pekovic is the latest member of the team to be bitten by the injury bug. Hopefully his injury won't keep him sidelined for very long as he was averaging 19.7 points and 14 rebounds on 58 percent shooting from the field over his last three games. However, Pekovic will now be an injury risk heading into Week 23 (April 1-7), so owners should keep an eye on his status over the next few days. Pekovic can be considered a high-end option in all formats when healthy. Minnesota is slated to play four times in the upcoming scoring period.

Pekovic still hitting the boards

News: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic enjoyed another productive night on the boards Wednesday against the Lakers. He hauled in 16 rebounds -- including seven on the offensive glass -- and scored 19 points in the 120-117 loss. He went 6 for 14 from the floor and made 7 of 8 free throws while playing 41 minutes. Pekovic also chipped in with two steals, an assist and a block in the defeat.
Analysis: Pekovic entered Wednesday averaging just 7.6 rebounds in the previous five contests but had a productive night on the boards against the Lakers. He also averaged 14.2 points on 57 percent shooting during that stretch, so his Fantasy value has not taken much of a hit. The 27-year-old puts up rare stats in Fantasy so keep Pekovic active in the majority of formats.

Pekovic working on conditioning

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic, who has returned from his abdomen injury, confirmed Wednesday that he's completely free of pain and is working on getting his conditioning back in order, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Pekovic has returned to play in the last two games for Minnesota.
Analysis: Pekovic has scored 22 points combined in his first two games back from the abdomen injury and he's grabbed 11 rebounds with three blocks in those contests over 48 minutes. His conditioning should improve and with it will come the big Fantasy efforts. He remains a worthy Fantasy start in most formats.

Pekovic makes unexpected start

News: Originally listed as doubtful, Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic made a surprise start in Sunday's contest against the Hornets despite dealing with an abdominal strain. Pekovic went 5 of 8 shooting from the field and 3 of 6 from the free throw line. He finished with 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks while logging 24 minutes of game action in a 97-95 victory.
Analysis: Pekovic made an unexpected return and was limited to under 30 minutes of play Sunday as he continues to work his was back to 100 percent. The fact that he is back in action should be encouraging for Fantasy owners heading to Week 21 (March 18-24). Pekovic is averaging 15.9 points and 8.8 boards per game this season and should be viewed as a high-end Fantasy option in all formats now that he is back in action.

Pekovic doubtful for Sunday

News: The Wolves list both small forward Andrei Kirilenko (calf) and center Nikola Pekovic (abdominal strain) as doubtful to play Sunday against the Hornets. Kirilenko has missed nine straight games with his injury and Pekovic has missed the last eight.
Analysis: Pekovic continues to miss time due to his abdominal strain and it appears he'll be an injury risky moving forward as well. Minnesota might be cautious with Pekovic since the team has nothing to play for this season, but we hope Pekovic is able to return and provide a punch for the stretch run. Pekovic was averaging a career-best 15.9 points and 8.8 rebounds prior to his injury and can be considered a high-end option in all formats when healthy.

Pekovic out next two games

News: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic did not travel with the team for their two-game trip to Indianapolis on Wednesday or Houston on Friday, which means the earliest he would return is Sunday against New Orleans. Prior to Wednesday, Pekovic has missed the past six games with an abdomen injury.
Analysis: Hopefully we could see Pekovic return Sunday because he would be a nice addition to owners in the Fantasy playoffs.

Pekovic still not ready

News: As expected, Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic (abdomen) was ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Spurs as well as Wednesday's matchup at Indiana, reports the Star Tribubne. Pekovic, who has been sidelined since Feb. 28 with a strained muscle in his abdomen, told reporters last week that he is pain free, but has yet to start any basketball related activities.
Analysis: Pekovic appears to be on the verge of returning, but he needs to get a few practices in before that can happen. However, the Timberwolves don't have another practice scheduled until Saturday, so it is possible he will be out through the weekend. While he could return sooner than expected, owners should probably target Week 21 (March 18-24) for his return. Pekovic was averaging a career-best 15.9 points and 8.8 rebounds prior to his injury and can be considered a high-end option in all formats when healthy.

Pekovic is pain-free

News: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic, who is dealing with a strained abdomen, told reporters Sunday that he is pain free and hopes to participate in basketball activities Monday. However, he also told reporters that he is unsure when he'll be able to return to game action.
Analysis: Pekovic seems to be making some progress, which is an encouraging sign for Fantasy owners in need of his help down the stretch. That said, we'll have to keep an eye on his status moving forward to see how he responds in practice. Pekovic has missed the last five games with the injury. He was averaging 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in he month of February prior to the injury. For now, Fantasy owners should keep him stashed in all formats until he is ready to return to action.

Pekovic out a week

News: The Timberwolves announced Tuesday that both forward Andrei Kirilenko and center Nikola Pekovic would miss the team’s next three games, up to Sunday against the Mavericks. Pekovic has missed the last two games due to an abdominal strain.
Analysis: Pekovic had an MRI on the injury that came back negative, but he has been dealing with quite a bit of pain over the last few days. The time off should help Pekovic heal, however this sounds like a pretty serious injury, so it might even take longer than expected to heal. Hopefully, Pekovic can get back to the floor at full strength soon, as he averaged 15.4 and 9.2 rebounds per game in he month of February prior to the injury. For now, Fantasy owners should keep him inactive in all formats until he is ready and able to come back.

Pekovic remains sidelined

News: As expected, Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic was ruled out for Monday's contest against the Heat as he continues to deal with a strained muscle in his abdomen. An MRI taken on Pekovic's injury came back negative, but there has still been no timetable announced for his return. He has now missed two straight games with his injury.
Analysis: Pekovic is still in a great deal of pain and it sounds like he could end up missing more than just Monday's tilt moving forward. That makes him a huge injury risk as he could end up missing most of the four games the T'Wolves are scheduled to play this week. Despite averaging 16.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the month of February, owners would be best to leave Pekovic reserved for the upcoming scoring period. He can be considered a high-end option in most formats when healthy.

Pekovic still dealing with pain

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic had an MRI Monday on his strained abdomen and it came back negative, reports ESPN. Pekovic continues to be in pain and his return date is uncertain at this time. Pekovic is doubtful to play Monday against Miami.
Analysis: Pekovic is a big-time injury risk for Week 19 (March 4-10) and might miss the entire scoring period at this point after his MRI came back. Pekovic had been playing tremendous basketball recently, averaging 16.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the month of February, so hopefully this does not sideline him for too long. Pekovic is a worthy starting option in most Fantasy formats, when healthy.

Pekovic doubtful for Saturday

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic (abdominal strain) is unlikely to play Saturday against Portland, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Pekovic had to leave Thursday's loss and was in visible pain after leaving. Pekovic said after Saturday's game that he is still in pain and will have an MRI Monday.
Analysis: Pekovic entered the game Thursday with an illness but it was an abdominal strain that caused him to sit out and will cause him to miss some time. Pekovic had been playing tremendous basketball recently, averaging 16.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the month of February, so hopefully this does not sideline him for long. Pekovic is a worthy starting option in most Fantasy formats, when healthy.

Pekovic goes down early

News: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic was able to play through an illness Thursday against the Lakers, but he came down with a different ailment that forced him out. Pekovic was able to play just nine minutes in the game, as he suffered an abdominal strain in the first half of the game and was unable to return. He had gotten off to an excellent start to the game, scoring eight points on 4 of 6 shooting, with three rebounds, before leaving.
Analysis: The Timberwolves have been unable to avoid injuries this season, and Pekovic has not been immune either. Pekovic has missed eight games due to various injuries, and now it looks like he has another one to deal with. The extent of the injury is not yet known, but the Timberwolves are off Friday, so we should get an update. Pekovic had been playing tremendous basketball recently, averaging 16.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the month of February, so hopefully this does not sideline him for long. He is expected to play Thursday at the Lakers. "I didn't know if he was going to play at the start, but he got through it," Adelman said.
Analysis: It's a good thing that Pekovic is expected to play against the Lakers because he's a must-start Fantasy option when healthy. Keep him active in all leagues and hope he doesn't suffer a setback any time soon.

The report says no injury was given, and Pekovic played 40 minutes against the Suns and finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, three steals and two assists.
Analysis: Pekovic has dealt with injuries to his groin, quad and hip this season, so we hope it's nothing serious. Continue to monitor what happens with him, and hopefully he's OK for Thursday's game at the Lakers. When healthy and active he's a must-start Fantasy option in all leagues.

He went 6 for 11 from the field and made all six of his free throws while playing 40 minutes. Pekovic also chipped in with three blocks, three steals and two assists in the defeat.
Analysis: Pekovic is averaging 17.7 points with 10 rebounds in the four games since the All-Star break. He is also putting up two steals and 1.5 blocks during that stretch. After a breakout campaign a year ago, the 27-year-old has taken his game to the next level this season and remains a solid option in the majority of Fantasy formats.

Pekovic opens with monster night

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic had a monster performance to open the second half of the NBA season on Wednesday night at home against Philadelphia. Pekovic scored a game-high 27 points over 41 minutes on the floor in the win. He added 18 huge rebounds for the double-double as he also blocked two shots. Pekovic went 9 of 16 from the field in the game and 9 of 15 from the line. He added a steal.
Analysis: Pekovic averaged 15.9 points and 8.9 rebounds with less than a block per game over the first half of the NBA season. He started the second half off with a bang Wednesday. Pekovic has recorded five double-doubles in his last six games for the Wolves and has really become a must-start Fantasy center in all leagues and formats. Owners should expect big things from the 27-year-old throughout the rest of the season.

Pekovic bounces right back

News: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic notched his 17th double-double of the season during Monday's contest against the Cavaliers. Pekovic, who put up just eight points and five rebounds the last time he was on the court, finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the 100-92 win. He made six of his 14 field-goal attempts and also added two assists and two steals to his stat line, while logging 40 minutes of game action. After the game, he was accompanied to the locker room by the team's trainer after coach Rick Adelman said he might have taken a hit to the head. Both Adelman and Pekovic said he was fine.
Analysis: Pekovic was able to deliver a bounce-back performance Monday night after he struggled to get himself going in Minnesota's loss to the Grizzlies last Sunday. While the 27-year-old continues to be plagued by a groin injury, he has still managed to out up 14.8 points and 9.6 rebounds over his last five contests and is seeing around 35 minutes per game over that span. As long as Pekovic can keep himself on the court, he should remain active in the majority of formats moving forward.

Pekovic with big double-double

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic turned in his third double-double in the previous five contests despite dealing with a lingering groin injury on Wednesday night against San Antonio. He led the Timberwolves with 21 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the 104-94 loss. He went 5 for 9 from the field and made 11 of 12 free throws while playing 35 minutes. Pekovic also blocked a shot in the defeat.
Analysis: Pekovic is averaging 15.8 points with 9.8 rebounds on 50 percent shooting in his five games since returning and is resuming his role as a viable option in Fantasy. This groin issue could continue to linger so owners should keep an eye on his status just to be safe. As long as the 27-year-old is producing like this, however, keep Pekovic active in the majority of formats.

Groin still a bother for Pekovic

News: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic claims he is still limited by a groin issue, reports The Associated Press Timberwolves beat writer Tuesday. That said, Pekovic played Monday against Portland and scored 13 points with 11 rebounds over 35 minutes.
Analysis: Pekovic has recorded two double-doubles in his last four games since returning from his quadriceps injury and is now saying his groin is acting up. We do not believe he's going to miss any time due to the groin in the near future, however, owners should be knowledgeable of the fact he's complaining and calling himself "limited." Pekovic is averaging just under 15 points and 10 rebounds per game over his last five and that is right on par with his season. He can be active in most Fantasy formats, when healthy.
