by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/19/2014) Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic said Wednesday he will visit a doctor at the beginning of next week and hopefully be cleared to resume practicing. He is currently sidelined due to a sprained wrist.

"Of course, it's just the beginning of the season, of course it's disappointing," he said, per The Star Tribune. "But it's more disappointing when you try to do something and you just can't. When you're in pain, you make more damage than you can help your team. That's more disappointing that just sitting on the side...It's better to sit, take a few days off, try to heal everything as much as I can and then try to come back and play how I can play."

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/13/2014) Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic scored 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting while grabbing 13 rebounds in his team's 113-101 loss to the Rockets Wednesday.

Pekovic has picked up double-doubles in back-to-back games as well as four of his seven games this season, playing a consistent 28-to-32 minutes per game. His shot was a little off, as he posted his worst shooting percentage since going 2 for 9 in the season opener. Pekovic managed to chip in two steals and one block in his 28 minutes. He'll square off with the Pelicans Friday.

Nikola Pekovic, Thaddeus Young deliver double-doubles vs. Nets

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/5/2014) Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic and forward Thaddeus Young both recorded double-doubles in Wednesday's 98-91 win over the Nets.

Pekovic scored 16 points on 5 of 12 shooting while grabbing 11 rebounds and adding three assists and one steal in 32 minutes. It's his second double-double of the season, and the center has piled up 50 points in his last three games.

Young suffered a neck injury in his last game but shook it off to play 36 minutes Wednesday, scoring 10 points on 5 of 13 shooting while adding 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Both the 36 minutes and 11 boards were season highs.

The Timberwolves will next face the Magic Friday.

Minutes limit will hurt Nikola Pekovic's value

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/29/2014) Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic can be one of the most productive big men in the league, but ankle injuries have cut him down in each of his seasons so far. The Timberwolves are taking a proactive approach to keeping him healthy in 2014-15, which could adversely impact his outlook for Fantasy purposes.

Pekovic has averaged 16.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game over the last two seasons, while playing 31.2 minutes per game on average. With the coaching staff planning to limit him to 27 or so minutes per night, we should expect a reduction in Pekovic's production, even without Kevin Love playing alongside him.

Pekovic could still be a nightly double-double threat with great percentages, but he doesn't bring much else to the table. Pekovic is not a great passer or shot blocker, which limits his value in category-based leagues. Given concerns about his health, Pekovic is just a No. 2 Fantasy center.

Timberwolves hoping to limit Nikola Pekovic's workload this season

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/29/2014) With the rise of Gorgui Dieng last season, Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders told reporters that he hopes to limit center Nikola Pekovic to 26-27 minutes per game this season, per the Star Tribune.

"With Gorgui [Dieng] improving and Ronny [Turiaf] being healthy, we can get Pek down to 26, 27 minutes a night, so he's not going to have to play 12 minutes at a time," Saunders said. "He's a big guy. If you can't change his weight, you change his workload so his body doesn't take such a pounding."

Pekovic has been plagued by injuries in each of his first four seasons in the league. In 2013-14, he averaged averaged a career-high 17.4 points and adding 8.7 rebounds per game in 54 contests.

Nikola Pekovic getting closer, still unlikely for Friday

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/28/2014) Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic took part in the team's practice Thursday on a limited basis, but still remains doubtful for Friday's game against the Lakers. Pekovic is likely to miss his seventh game in a row, with rookie Gorgui Dieng continuing to start in his place.

With Pekovic making progress, however, coach Rick Adelman is starting to look ahead toward what Pekovic's role will be upon his return. Pekovic had a minutes limit in place upon his return from his last absence due to this injury, but that might not happen this time.

"This is something that's just come up," Adelman told the Star Tribune Thursday. "I don't think you ever want to put a minutes limit on anybody, you know? He's big and he’s strong and he plays hard all the time. So he's had some issues. But hopefully he's going to learn how to get through a season, 82 games, and not have these problems"

Pekovic has had ongoing issues with his ankles over the course of his career, and has already missed 19 games this season. He is averaging 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game in his 51 appearances this season.
