Speights is dealing with a moderate right calf strain, which has kept him out since Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

(5/13/2015) Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Wednesday that forward Marreese Speights (calf) will not play during the remainder of his team's series against the Grizzlies, the Bay Area News Group reports.

Kerr added that Speights is doing better after suffering a calf strain in Game 3. Speights averaged a career-high 10.4 points during the regular season. He'll attempt to return in the Eastern Conference Finals, provided the Warriors can make it past the Grizzlies.

(5/11/2015) Warriors forward Marreese Speights was spotted at shootaround on Monday sporting an air cast on his injured leg and said he felt a pop, according to the Bay Area News Group.

Speights, who injured his calf in Game 3, suffered a moderate calf strain and is expected to be out for at least a week with the injury. He may be available for Game 7 on May 17 if Golden State's series goes that far. He averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in the regular season.

Speights, who left Saturday's game with the injury, said Sunday an MRI revealed a moderate strain and he will be re-evaluated in a week. It's possible he could return for Game 7 on May 17 if necessary. Speights averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in the regular season.

Speights suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game and was unable to return. He averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 76 games during the regular season.

Speights picked up the injury in the second half after scoring nine points in six minutes of action. He added two rebounds and a steal before departing the game.

(3/3/2015) Warriors center Marreese Speights pleaded no contest to a reduced misdemeanor charge of reckless driving Monday, the Bay Area News Group reports.

Speights was initially charged with driving under the influence after being arrested in Tampa in August. He has averaged a career-high 11.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 55 games.

(2/4/2015) Warriors center Marreese Speights scored 17 points on 8 of 13 shooting in his team's 121-96 win over the Kings in Sacramento Tuesday.

Speights hadn't been much of an offensive factor in any of the previous three games, but his eight rebounds Tuesday mark his third straight game with that many rebounds. He also chipped in three assists in 21 minutes before fouling out for the third time this season. The Warriors will square off with the Mavericks Wednesday.


Warriors center Andrew Bogut a late scratch, out with flu-like symptoms

(1/27/2015) Warriors center Andrew Bogut was all set to start Tuesday's game against the Bulls. However, just before tipoff, Bogut headed to the locker room and Marresse Speights took over the starting duties.

The team later announced Bogut is dealing with flu-like symptoms and is out for the game.

Speights was the second-leading scorer on the team behind Klay Thompson's 52-point explosions, delivering his first double-digit scoring game in his last three tries. He also collected five rebounds, one assist and one block in 21 minutes off the bench. The Warriors will square off with the Celtics Sunday.

(1/13/2015) While Warriors center Andrew Bogut was hoping to make his return to the starting lineup Tuesday against the Jazz, an illness is causing his playing status to be undetermined, reports The San Francsico Chronicle.

Bogut did not participate in the team’s shootaround Tuesday and was sent back to the team hotel. He is listed as questionable. Center Festus Ezeli was ruled out as he recovers from an ankle injury. Forward Marreese Speights is expected to start if Bogut is unable to play.

The Warriors are 8-point favorites.

(12/31/2014) Warriors forward Marreese Speights had one of his most productive games of the season during the Warriors’ 126-86 win over the 76ers Tuesday.

Speights shot 9 of 13 from the field including 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. He finished with 23 points which was a team high. It was his first game scoring 20 or more points since Nov. 23 against the Thunder.

Speights also added four assists and four rebounds. He was also a force on the defensive-end, blocking four shots.

The Warriors next play Friday against the Raptors

Bogut is dealing with a knee injury which will keep him out of his 10th straight game. In Bogut’s absence, forward Marreese Speights has seen his minutes increase. It is not clear when Bogut will return to the court. The Warriors also listed Festus Ezeli (ankle) as out.

The Warriors are 18-point favorites.

(12/16/2014) Warriors forward Marreese Speights is motivated by the chance to play the 19-4 Grizzlies Tuesday and try to dispell doubts many people have about Golden State's 21-2 record. 

Speights, who is averaging 12.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, doesn't have time for anyone else's opinion of the Warriors. 

“Somebody’s opinion can’t really control me because at the end of the day, an opinion is just an opinion,” Speights said. “You ever go try to pay your bills with somebody’s opinion? You ever do that before? You won’t get that far."

Speights was a starter for Memphis in 2011-12, when he averaged 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 54 starts. 

“It’s just everything, ESPN. No Bogues, no DLee, so it’s motivation. All the guys who are playing get motivated because of their willingness to count us out with the two big men out.”

Speights caught fire for the second time in three games, following up a 24-point, 8-of-11 shooting night last Sunday with another excellent performance one week later. He also delivered seven rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes in his team's fifth straight win. The Warriors will look to keep rolling Tuesday in Miami.


Warriors' Speights develops into coach's 'new favorite player'

(11/19/2014) Warriors forward Marreese Speights has been a valuable contributor off the bench in his last few games. He is averaging 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in his last four games, which included a 24-point, nine-rebound outing Sunday against the Lakers.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who called Speights his "new favorite player" following Sunday's game, said Speights will continue to play significant minutes off the bench as long as he keeps producing, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

"He's played his way into the backup 4-5 role," Kerr said. "More than anything, what pleases me is just the professionalism, staying ready when he hasn't gotten into games. He hasn't complained, he's been unbelievably positive, and when I do put him out there, he produces. He's a real pro, and he's been a good example for our whole team."


Marreese Speights scores career-high 32 points vs. 76ers

(2/11/2014) In a matchup with the team that initially drafted him, Warriors forward Marreese Speights scored a career-high 32 points on 12 of 15 shooting in his team's 123-80 drubbing of the 76ers Monday.

Speights had scored 30 points over his previous seven games combined heading into Monday's matchup with the 76ers, and he played a season-high 26 minutes in the win, taking advantage of his white-hot stroke. He also kicked in eight rebounds, one assist and a season-high three blocks Monday. Speights has averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds over 52 games played.


Marreese Speights makes a rare impact

(1/31/2014) Warriors forward Marreese Speights was part of a rare performance Thursday against the Clippers, as he and Harrison Barnes combined to score in double figures, just the fifth time all season two Warriors have done so in the same game.

Speights scored his 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting, and he also went 2 for 2 at the free-throw line. He added five rebounds, one assist and one steal, while turning the ball over twice in 18 minutes in a 111-92 win.

Speights scores frequently when he is on the floor, but doesn't get many opportunities to do so. He plays just 12.0 minutes per game, but is averaging 5.8 points per game on 41.1 percent shooting on the season.  


Marreese Speights scores 16 in 16 minutes off the bench

Speights went 7 of 14 shooting from the field and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He finished the game with 16 points and nine rebounds, with eight of them coming from the offensive end while logging 16 minutes of game action in a 116-112 defeat.
