News: The Chicago Sun-Times reports the Bulls signed forward Rob Kurz and waived center Jerome James. Kurz, 25, appeared in 39 games (35 starts) for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League. With the Mad Ants, he averaged 17.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.46 blocks. The 6-9, 230 pound forward also held a stint with the Golden State Warriors during the 2008-09 campaign. James joined the Bulls on Feb. 19, 2009 in a four-player trade with the Knicks. In one and a half seasons with Chicago, James did not appear in a game due to a ruptured right Achilles he suffered during the 2008-09 season.
Analysis: Kurz has minimal Fantasy value and will likely be a practice player for the Bulls. Ignore him in all leagues.
News: The Cavaliers made their first roster cuts of the preseason Monday, waiving forward Rob Kurz and center Luke Nevill.
Analysis: Kurz and Nevill wouldn't have had big enough roles to make an impact in Fantasy even if they made the team. Leave both on waivers.
News: Warriors rookie Robert Kurz started in place of an injured Andris Biedrins (wrist) on Wednesday against the Thunder but was replaced by Ronny Turiaf less than four minutes into the game. Kurz finished with six points and one rebound. Turiaf added eight points, eight assists and six rebounds in 40 minutes.
Analysis: Turiaf would have more Fantasy value than Kurz at this time if Biedrins is expected to miss a significant amount of time. For now, consider adding Turiaf in deeper leagues if you need a stopgap option, and leave Kurz on the waiver wire.
News: Golden State SF Rob Kurz had 20 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors on Saturday night against the Nuggets. Kurz was 7-for-11 from the field with three three-pointers and added two blocks and two steals.
Analysis: Averaging 3.7 points and 1.6 boards per game on the season, Kurz played 15 minutes and scored 10 points in Friday's game. He's seeing an increase of playing time and doing a lot with that increase. If this continues he's definitely worth picking up off waivers. Still, don't do it just yet.
News: Warriors SF Rob Kurz, signed by the team Sunday, dressed for his first game Monday at Memphis. The 6-foot-9 rookie out of Notre Dame appeared in four preseason games for Golden State, averaging 4.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. The team waived him Oct. 27.
Analysis: Kurz doesn't figure to play enough to have any Fantasy value. Leave him on waivers in all leagues.
News: The San Jose Mercury News reports that the Warriors released rookie forward Rob Kurz on Monday, the deadline to trim the roster to 15 players. That is good new for rookie forward Anthony Morrow, the other player in jeopardy of being cut.
Analysis: Neither player had much Fantasy appeal anyway. Morrow remains on the team, but will not see enough playing time to be considered a Fantasy option.
